Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Absolutely the best available road food from Detroit to your Up North destination! The kani (crab) salad is off the hook.. Fresh shredded crab (imitation? IDGAF it's awesome) and this tangy ponzu mayo dressing! Love their lunch specials to share.. 3 rolls with salad was a perfect lunch for 2! The Philadelphia Roll, Spicy Tuna & Spicy Salmon all pretty solid. We call ahead and grab Fuji fast.. There's a Starbucks across the street, making this a great pit stop on a long drive. Arriving at our destination in the Cherry Capital was much nicer without a belly full of crappy fast food.. Ready to enjoy real farm to table delights & local artisanal beers!

Something that doesn't make sense: The best sushi I've had is in Midland, MI. It's not on the cost, its Midland...lol. Anyway, the Residence Inn we were at was right down the road from Fuji, so we decided to walk over. There were a few tables seated, but plenty remained open. We were quickly seated by the friendly hostess and brought menus and water. We settled on splitting two rolls and some dumplings. The dumplings came out first. They were quite good--light and not too greasy. Then the sushi came out. My goodness, it was absolutely amazing. Many sushi restaurants like to get fancy and deep fry their rolls, serve them with sauce, and do weird things. Fuji didn't do any of that. They let the fish speak for itself, and boy was it good. Everything tasted fresh, and the rolls were big. Two was enough for the both of us who have big appetites. The service was good as well. Our waitress was efficient and always had a smile on her face. If I'm ever in Midland again, I will make it a point to stop here. Really great stuff.

Went for lunch. It is very clean and comfortable. Ginger salad was good. I had the 11.95 lunch option for three rolls. Spicy yellowtail/tuna/salmon. Sushi was standard. The reason I gave five stars was due to the service speed and flexibility. We had a person in our party forget to ask for the soy wrap and they redid the rolls for her. Also, I asked for additional ginger and they gave me a healthy amount extra. I was please with the price and my overall experience. I will recommend this in the future.

Very good portion sizes for sushi. Fast and easy take out.

Have been here a few times and not been disappointed so far. Fresh sashimi of good quality and reasonable price. Friendly service. The interior is uninspiring but that's the case with many places in Midland. Will come back here frequently.

I love Fuji Sushi! We just discovered this restaurant about 2 months ago. Had dinner there last night. They have really good pork gyoza and their Atlantic roll and Michigan rolls are delicious.

I was very surprised with how good the sushi is here! For years, the only option for sushi in midland was Genji. Not eating meat myself, they left me with pretty plain, unexciting options. But, the sushi was good so I kept going. Now I'll choose Fuji every time. I love their shitake and cucumber roll, and their tempura sweet potato roll gives a delicious crunch. I've been twice now, and I'm consistently impressed.

I love their Fuji Roll, with the mango slices. You are one of my favorite sushi restaurants that I've been too, and your staff is very friendly. Way better than any other place in Midland for sure. Unless you want somebody to tell cheesy jokes while ripping off Benihana's.

Excellent sushi, beef negimaki as the app was very good. Snow roll was different, but I enjoyed it. Great service. Small, intimate, quiet atmosphere.

I love this place. Love, love it. The sushi is spectacular every time. The Kani salad, Sakura roll, Broadway roll and black diamond roll are my favs! I'd love it if they could get a liquor license or at least beer so I could eat in more often. Takeout is great though!

Wonderful restaurant We are visiting from Chicago and this is as good as the big city Sushi. Seaweed salad was very good. Others in our party got Udon soups and loved it. Highly recommend.

This is the only professional sushi place Ive been to, as Im not a huge sushi fan, but its wonderful. They seat you right away, are exceedingly polite and the food is phenomenal. My roommates and I often make trips from Mt. Pleasant to come here and shop/get sushi. My one roommates drops anywhere from $30-$60 each time we come. Wide menu options, and their spicy tuna roll is amazing. We'll definitely be back

Had the love boat for two, well worth the money. Comes with a nice assortment of pieces so that everyone gets what they like. I always receive great service and the staff is always very friendly. This is some of the best sushi I've had in the area. (make sure you try to dragon roll! It's amazing.

Have been there 4 times over the last year. Each time the food was good. No real complaints. Granted some of the best Sushi I've had was in Hawaii and Southern California, but heck, this is Midland. "Hello Sushi" near the Saginaw mall is worth the drive, and probably the best anywhere in the area.

Okay. So I wanted to like it more than I did like it. Didn't care for the miso soup, the tofu in it was slimy and overall it had a funky taste. The Diamond Roll was okay, but lacked any actual fish and only had six VERY thin pieces for the $13.95 price. They did not offer a seperate dish to put my soy sauce in and for some reason there were like 5 giant sprigs of parsley on my plate. I LOVE sushi, but this sushi is mediocre at the very best and super overpriced for sure!! I don't think I will come back, not impressed with my $20 lunch for one.

I didn't expect to find good Sushi in Midland but there it was. The staff was great and helping me out together small menu for a dinner party. Ambiance is traditional. Food is delicious. Been here several times with great results every time.

I have not tried the local competitor to Fuji Sushi yet (Genji's) but I am pretty pleased with this place. I certainly did not expect to find a sushi restaurant in Midland. On my first visit I had a bunch of questions as I do not eat cheese or meat. The young boy (I would say 14ish) who runs the register and the restaurant phone struggled to answer my questions so I walked over to the sushi chef and started asking him. I've always been pleased with the quality of the sushi that I get here and actually go there about once a week. If you want sushi in Midland, I would definitely suggest Fuji Sushi.

We have ordered carry out from here multiple times, and have never been disappointed. We really like the Midland Roll, but plan to work our way through the sushi menu. The staff is always very courteous, and the sushi fresh and prepared when ordered. Despite being located in a tacky strip mall location, the interior is welcoming and tastefully decorated.

Great, great sushi! We are new to Midland and were looking for a high-quality sushi place. We took a chance on the new Fuji Sushi and it certainly paid off! The highs: the sushi, service, and ambiance. The lows: no liquor license here yet. Tip: don't let the location fool you, this place has good sushi. Also - don't be afraid of the "Mexican Roll" - best sushi roll I've had in a long time! We will be regulars here.

  • Paul Z.

The sushi I had at Fuji Sushi was the WORST I ever had. I ordered a miso soup, some salmon sashimi and a tigger role. The miso soup tasted off and overly sweet. The salmon sashimi did not smell fresh and was gummy. The tigger role, which is spicy salmon over spicy tuna, seemed to be made from the lowest quality fish around. My meal was so awful that I had to throw half of it away. Not to mention the fish was making nauseous. On top of all this the hostess was incredibly rude.

Great sushi with the best prices in town. Not paying for atmosphere. It's in a meijer parking lot but the sushi is fresh and well prepared.

I've been to Japan and have had real Sushi, so I wasn't expecting much when I went here. Then again, I guess for the location, beggars can't be choosers. The portion sizes compared to what you pay is surprisingly good. Wait staff is nice and attentive and they are always coming around to make sure you satisfied with your meal. The decor is really nice but it is more Chinese than Japanese. The taste of the over all food was a little off. Some of it tasted like it was prepared the night before. The rice seemed a bit off to, it didn't have the sweetness then it should normally have. Over all the experience was ok and if I need a Sushi fix quick I will go here if I have to.

I have been to Fuji Sushi 3 times now in the past week. I just cannot get enough. From the ambiance, to the service, to the outstanding food... all sushi lovers need to try Fuji Sushi. I used to go to Genjis to get my sushi fix, but Fuji just blows them out of the water. Sushi is my absolute favorite food, and I consider myself to be as much of an expert on sushi as a 20 year old blonde white girl can be. I have eaten at many sushi restaurants from Michigan, to L.A., to Chicago and in between. I have even been to the Salt Lake City sushi place featured on Food Networks Man vs. Food and with all of the wonderful sushi I have eaten, Fuji is definitely my favorite. The first day my boyfriend and I went, we got the Tiger Roll, the Mexican Roll, and some tuna/white tuna nigiri. We also had Vegetable Udon noodles. I was literally melting with every bite. Such amazing flavor and quality. The Mexican Roll is my absolute favorite roll and Fuji gives serves it so much justice. The chef even unexpectedly whipped us up a sample of a new appetizer he was trying out and asked us for opinions! It was such a great experience we literally went back the next day and then again 3 days after that. On our other trips we tried the spicy orange roll, the broadway roll, and a couple of the hibachi entrees. I cannot stress enough how amazing this food is and how kind the waitstaff is. Sorry Genjis, we had a good run, but I've found a new love.

Sushi is my favorite comfort food and I had sushi in almost every big city I have visited (and I only go to those places that have more than 4 stars on yelp). I have to say that this place is by far the best sushi place that I have been to. I think Midland people are very fortunate to have such a gem. My favorites are the sakura roll and the snow roll.

I came here a few weeks ago and tried a few rolls of sushi. It was great! You get a large amount of delicious sushi for the price, and the presentation is pretty interesting as well. Will definitely return!

We were slightly hesitant to try this place after reading the reviews of how slow the service was. Being the sushi lushes that we are, we gave in to the cravings and decided to try it out instead of driving to East Lansing or metro Detroit. Amazing. The service was excellent. They never let our glasses go less than half full and we got our food surprisingly quick. For the tri city area, Fuji sushi easily tops Genjis & Hello Sushi (sorry guys). Fresh, delicious, and friendly service. Will definitely go back when I'm in town!

This will be my first time here, I just moved to Midland, MI couple weeks ago. I am a big fan of sushi and my expectations for this place is high due to good reviews and past experiences with other fine Japanese sushi restaurants. The ambience of this restaurant is modern and bright with China art pictures decoration on the wall. I thought this is a japanese restaurant. The sushi bar is good size but I don't think the Chefs are Japanese. I ordered my favorite Dragon Rolls and Vegetable Tempura- the Vegetable Tempura comes with all kinds of vegetables, Fried Sweet Potatoes, Broccoli, Green Bean, Zucchini, and a mushroom. served with tempura sauce and a bowl of rice. It tastes good with enough serving for one person. The dragon rolls, on the other hand, is below average compared to the ones that I had before. It tasted like the one you buy from cheap supermarket. They used cheap quality ingredients such as imitation crab meat and lots of cucumbers. That's so not worth $13.95 plus tax!!! And it is not the way you supposed to make them. The service is good but very disappointed with the sushi. Not sure if I will come back...

This place just opened a week ago. This place is pretty good. The town of Midland has been waiting for a place like Fuji Sushi. A casual sushi place on a strip mall is typical in big cities and usually holds some of the better sushi! The sushi is fresh and delicious. Better than Hello Sushi and Genjis!

    (4)
  • John C.

Great atmosphere, friendly service. This is a welcome change of pace to the normal HO hum places you'll eat out. Had the sushi for two lunch and it was presented beautifully with a taste to match.

  • Jessica M.

Super selection in veggie rolls! MUST try the tempura sweet potato. Love the avocado salad and delish marinated shrooms in the shitake roll. I also tried the avocado roll and the spicy tempura roll. Satisfied with all! My friends dove into the fish rolls and were all happy and they enjoyed the Kani salad but it is spicy. Fresh and worth the wait. They're new, they will get faster. Can't beat the 2 roll lunch special with soup or salad for $8.95. I'm an instant fan of strip mall sushi.

  • Tony C.

Excellent sushi even if this wasn't in a small town in the middle of nowhere. Everything tasted fresh and wrapped perfectly. Holy thing holding this place from 5 stars in my opinion is that they do not serve alcohol!

    (4)
  • N. C.

The place was smaller than it seemed from the outside and was quite dark, which made me feel a little uncomfortable. We ordered seafood udon and a couple of rolls. The food was alright but not worth the price in my opinion. I will probably try to order takeout at a later time when I have cravings for Americanized sushi rolls.

Being from Chicago, I have had my fair share of really great sushi, but when I visit my parents in Midland and get a craving for it, I am simply out of luck... or at least I was until now! I ate at Fuji last weekend and to be completely honest, it was some of the best sushi I had ever had (I especially recommend the spicy calamari roll). Have I had faster service? Sure. Was it worth the wait? Absolutely! I highly recommend Fuji for anyone looking for good sushi in the tri-city area!

Went out on a limb to try the sushi here, but was surprised. It was actually pretty good. The spicy tuna could have been a little more spicier, but it was good. I really liked the crunchy panko top. The nigiri had no flavor, which says something about the quality of the fish. The service was very good, and we were well taken care of. While somewhat biased by being a San Diego transplant, and having excellent sushi in SoCal, I would go back.

1/16/13 Went a few months ago when they first opened and thought it was ok so I was on town again and gave it another try last night. I think they are on the right track but need to work on some details. 1 - Either cut prices a bit or improve the quality of the fish. Decent portion sizes on the nigri but not much flavor. 2 - Wait staff is nice and attentive. But they need to work on their English. An accent is cute but I think they have trouble with colloquialisms and that got annoying after a while. 3 - My view is that sushi is all about the rice. Big fail here. Lacked that sweetness I expect, and instead tasted sort of like city water. And I wouldn't describe it as sticky but more like chewy and some grains were under cooked. Seriously, I've had better rice in grocery store sushi. You've got to nail this. 4 - And finally, no alcohol. They are "working on it". But not acceptable to me in a sit-down restaurant at those prices. Must have beer. I'll give them another try if they have beer, otherwise I think I'll just mosey over to Qdoba. Sorry.

I've been to Fuji maybe three of four times now, never a bad experience. My wait has typically been 15 to 20 minutes but, when I order sushi, I expect to wait a little while. We only have one other choice for sushi in midland, Genji's sushi bar, and I prefer Fuji for their larger menu and faster service. My favorites are the house roll, Michigan roll and mackinaw roll or anything with eel/eel sauce.

    (5)
  • Yanan K.

Decent, recommend sakura roll, spider roll, age tofu, spicy crab salad. The only complaint is they only have 1 sushi chef right now, so it gets super slow when busy.

I've only been here once, but the Sashimi was outstanding and served properly. A bit of a surprise in a small town like Midland. Reasonable prices for the quality. Service was abysmally slow (45 minutes after ordering the sashimi arrived) but it was the first week they were open so I have to cut them some slack. I bet the next time things will be operating smoothly.

  • Rob K.

I've been here 3 times so far and I think it's fair to say the food is inconsistent. The quality of your meal seems to depend on who happens to be working that day. Overall the quality is OK but it's not great sushi.

Great atmosphere, friendly service. This is a welcome change of pace to the normal HO hum places you'll eat out. Had the sushi for two lunch and it was presented beautifully with a taste to match.

Excellent sushi even if this wasn't in a small town in the middle of nowhere. Everything tasted fresh and wrapped perfectly. Holy thing holding this place from 5 stars in my opinion is that they do not serve alcohol!

Decent, recommend sakura roll, spider roll, age tofu, spicy crab salad. The only complaint is they only have 1 sushi chef right now, so it gets super slow when busy.
