I have a cottage right on Silver Lake, and this has always been the perfect place to go for dinner. They have a nice salad bar and good, basic American food, perfect for the culture of SL. It's very casual, most of the people who are there have been on the dunes or out at the beach all day, making it a very laid back and comfortable place to be. Nothing too fancy, just a nice place to go, especially with groups. Conveniently located right by the campgrounds for campers who get sick of convenience store food :).

It seems as if every beach resort area/state park region has a restaurant of this style. The restaurant is very casual, dated, probably similar in appearance to one of 20 years ago. Its appearance is casual, diner style, mostly booths, with a few chairs. We stopped in for a lunch of a Reuben/fries and bacon cheeseburger/fries. The food was surprisingly fine. The service was "beach-town casual" and the place was filled with local and tourist diners. Clean, friendly, inexpensive, good food - great for lunch.

I had the breakfast buffet on a busy BBQ festival weekend - and it was fantastic! Sands knows how to make biscuits, how to make killer sausage gravy - and the bacon! The bacon is SO GOOD! Huge chunks of fresh fruit round out the buffet nicely, and the coffee was good. I'll definitely go back.

Their breakfast buffet is great for the tummy to hold you over til about 2pm. Because who wants to stop riding on the dunes to eat? Not me! I love everything here - especially their sausage gravy! I put it on everything!!!

i went here for the breakfast buffet and loved everything! for less than 10 dollars, i had amazing biscuits and gravy, really meaty bacon, tasty french toast sticks, and fruit. my boyfriend liked their pancakes, eggs and real french toast. i was disappointed in their tater tots, but i think it was because they were the last ones out. it wasn't the biggest breakfast buffet, but it was really good!

Food was really good! Broaster chicken was excellent and the spaghetti dinners were great too! Next day we had breakfast too and had an equally great experience. One slight recommendation "make your coffee stronger" a bit watered down but otherwise thumbs up!

Not the best dining - but a good choice for the area. Try the Spaghetti & Meatballs - it was a hit with all the males in our group, even those who don't usually like meatballs. You are limited in dining options at Silver Lake, but this is a decent choice.

We stopped here for lunch after driving the dunes. Our guide recommended the place. We had five kids with us. They have a kids menu for kids 10 and under. My wife and I shared the chicken quesadilla and nachos. They were both solid but not great. The kids had a variety of food from fish and chips to the wet burrito. They all found the food good. We would give it a try again.

The breakfast buffet is fine. You wouldn't go to it if you were home, but you're in a resort town in the middle of nowhere where your fellow vacationers fly as many Confederate flags as American flags, so your options are very limited. Bacon, sausage, a fruit, and some other basic options. Grab some grub and hit the dunes.

All six of us enjoyed our food. The portions were plenty. I had the sirloin and baked potato and it was great. The restaurant was very clean and our waitress was super nice. Prices were very reasonable. A++

We ate breakfast here twice during our Irish extended family boozefest. It's basically 1 of 2 choices for dining unless u wanna head out of town. Best thing I can say about it is u have your choice of 2 views. The front windows let u watch a parade of dune buggies and tricked out sand crawling trucks. The back windows overlook the motel pool...this could go either way, but you're definitely safer up front if u have a weak stomach. The buffet sports some frozen French toast stix and potatoes, C-grade fresh fruit and bland sausage links. It made me feel bad inside...or should I fault our view of the pool? The day before we ordered off the menu and sat up front. My meal was fine enough, but when we asked our waitress if the cook could just place my wife's eggs on my plate - she said it was unlikely since they were so busy. The place was at less than half occupancy! Here, small town tempo feels like an old Ford Tempo. I would go back here again if we stay at the Silver Sands Resort...but only cuz I'd be too hung-over to drive out of town.

Best breakfast in town! Quick service, quality food, and a great location. No wonder the place is packed all summer!

Went here because I was hungry and it seemed liked the only real restaurant in town. Well the portions are very tiny. Paid $9 for a small burger and a few fries. I would expect to get a lot more for a lot less. Won't be going back here again.

This place is one of the few that are open late in the season. Service is slow and the wait staff doesn't seem to care much for their jobs. Food is mediocre and a bit over priced we tried the buffet and for the cost it was not too bad. Didnt care for the other menu options.

I came in alone at 8:30 pm on a Saurday in late April, 2010. The place was empty, save for the cooks, owner and a waitress. I ordered the Reuben sandwich and a cup of bean soup. Both were good. With a glass of water the total was $9.50. The owner asked if I wanted the Reuben made with corned beef or smoked beef brisket. I told him to surprise me, make how he thinks it would be best. He did the brisket and it was delicious. No alcohol served here, but it was good food, and quick and convenient.

And here we are. My 100th review. Whoo! And it is of course, for Sands Restaurant in Mears, MI. This place was pretty all right. Everything was rather slow, but I found the food to be quite tasty. Can't really tell if I was just THAT hungry or if it was really THAT good. I'll go with the latter for now. Our waitress was good and the prices were fair I think. Just the biggest thing that killed the experience for me, was how long the food took to come out. Oh yeah, and I believe they only have a single bathroom, one for men and one for women. It at least seemed like it as there was always a line. Doesn't look too good. So we just went over to the Go-Kart place ha-ha. I know I only gave this place three stars, but when it comes solely to the food, it's worth it, I think. Check it out. So AVERAGE.

Options for dining are probably limited in Silver Lake - and given that my group BBQ'ed every evening for dinner (mmm) we didn't care much for restaurants. We did however still find that a midday bite to eat from out was needed - and we were on vacation so McDonald's was not going to cut it. Sands is a great place for your country good ol' American food. Whether it's burger and fries, ribs, nachos, chili, etc. this place had some comfort food no matter what your preference. It's no fancy place - but it's an honest place with good food and honest pricing. If you have an opening for a late lunch while vacationing in Silver Lake or want to start the day of with a hearty all-American breakfast before starting the day's activities - give it a shot!!! You can eat here for well below $15/person.

Although there aren't many choices at Silver Lake. This was a nice little restaurant to stop at for a mid-afternoon bite after doing a LOT of water sports... I got the Nachos and they were GO-OOOD! Lots of meaty ground beef...Definitely hit the spot :)
