Golden Bowl Carry Out Menu

So, you will not find any authentic Chinese food in these parts of Michigan- but what about some decent American Chinese food? I shouldn't, but I do love me some lo mein, crag ragoon, and general tao's chicken from time to time. This is almost as bad as mentioning the word Olive Garden to my 1st generation Italian significant other and watching him cringe. If you must have some American Chinese besides Panda Express or PF Chang's, I think this place will hit the spot. First, the people are really nice. I had the vegetable lo mein and General Tao's Chicken. The lo mein had plenty of vegetables and the chicken was fried just right. They don't deliver, but are open late. Now, don't order the Almond Boneless chicken. This isn't even American Chinese. It's Michigan American. You will never find this dish outside of Michigan, so these Cantonese people put it together to cater this oddness. They question how to make it themselves!

Just moved to Michigan, and looked for a pleasant Chinese carry out. As I step in.. I met Aline, a very kind person who greeted me and clearly showed me the menu with how they will cook it. She also gave an accurate time for waiting. The food I ordered was high quality for such a good price. I recommend this place for your next meal.

I wish I had enough words for a review! All I can say is holy $#!* !!! I'm usually a very harsh critic when it comes to American Chinese food and I was very faithful to a certain Chinese place in the area but I think this just may be my new spot now!

Passed by this place everyday and was always scared to try it... One day I decide to and I'm glad I did! Been coming here for years now. Best Chinese food around, never had a bad meal and the staff/owners are great! Tried the General Tao's chicken, sweet & sour chicken, shrimp & chicken Lo Mein, egg rolls, Garlic won tons, etc... List goes on. Everything is always good! Try it out, you won't be disappointed.

Golden Bowl is consistent with keeping their portions generous, as well as, having the food taste great!!

We went here to get some carry-out last night for dinner. We ordered General Tao Chicken and Mongolian Beef with two eggrolls. If you spend more than $15.00, they will give you two eggrolls for free (I wish I would have known this ahead of time so we didn't end up with 4 of them. ). Both dishes were very good and the containers were packed full of food - enough for two dinners, and probably 3 lunches. The Tao had tons of broccoli, which I love and the Mongolian had green peppers, onions, bamboo shoots, carrots, and mushrooms. My only complaint would be the amount of rice they give you. We got two pints of rice with our order, but both were not close to full and were packed really loosely. I used to work in a carry and we always at least filled the container to the top. This problem was easily solved, since I made more rice at home though.

Awesome quality, I love this place! Very clean and great food... I'm very picky with Chinese food and this place is the best around! You will not regret it!

Plenty of food in an order. The sesame chicken is crispy and the egg roll with legit hot mustard is fantastic. Steamed dumplings just ok.

Pretty good Chinese food! I thought the prices were a little high but I'm willing to pay it if they are continually good.

What can I say? I have never rated on yelp but this place is SOOO amazing, I'm convinced it's worth it. Save your money on all those other cheap knock off "Chinese" take out because this is the gem. Worth traveling a half hour for. I ordered the chicken fried rice and vegetable lo mein, I am so pleased. It's rich with flavor and not soggy like so many I have tried. I am telling you right now, you will not be disappointed. The staff was very friendly and I know this might sound rude but sometimes ordering from foreign restaurants make it hard to understand the person over the phone but this wasn't the case. Which makes ordering easy and a breeze, I don't know about you but to me that's a very important part.

This is the best Chinese take-out I have ever eaten; certainly the best in Macomb. My least favorite time of the year is the two weeks of the year when the nice folks that own this place go on vacation. I have often had to resort to other joints when this happened, and I am always depressed and wonder why I bother. Note, they have a couple of tables, but you are not going to want to eat there - this is all about taking it home. My favorite thing is the meat. The Chicken is white meat and tender. I have never had better Sesame Chicken anywhere. The beef and broccoli is fantastic; the beef extremely tender - not the chewy meat you get at some places. The fried rice and spring rolls are also top notch. I cannot say enough good things about this place.

I've been gong there the past few years and I recommend this restaurant to everyone!!!! Best chinese food hands down in the Macomb area. Everything is homemade and in a very clean kitchen (which you can see from the register when you cash out your order). We love the Crab Ragoon, cashew chicken, sweet and sour chicken and chicken lo mein. Anytime we order the food is incredible no matter what we order. The friends we have recommended it to end up loving it as much as we do and are now regulars too. You will not be disappointed. We drive from Chesterfield for carry-out and it is well worth the drive.

This was our first try for this place. I wasn't very impressed. The egg rolls were quite good. The sweet and sour chicken sauce was way too sweet and the chicken was very heavily battered with thin strips of meat. My wife said her gai cow was bland.

Good quality Chinese restaurants are hard to find. My buddy told me about Golden Bowl and I wad impressed with the quality and price. This is my new Go-To Chinese spot!

This is one of the better Chinese carry out resturants in the area. The food has a fresh taste to it, unlike the commercial mall Chinese flavors of some of its local competitors. The restaurant has an open clean kitchen behind the counter, which is great. If you place a large order they will throw in 4 free egg rolls, which is a nice touch. Things I've tried: -Shrimp Fried Rice (Good Flavor, Shrimp are on the large side and there a bunch of them). -Chicken and Beef Lo Mein (Heavy but good, tons of meat and fresh veg, noodles good size in between thick and thin) -Almond Chicken (Delicious, very fresh gravy with good flavor and nice huge strips of all white meat chicken) -Beef and Broccoli (Really fresh Broc, great flavor to sauce) -General Tso's (Not my favorite, sauce is a little on the commercial side and sweeter than my preference. Those who prefer the sweet taste of s/s or sesame chicken will like it).

Best Chinese take out around. I only eat Sweet and Sour chicken, and BAR NONE this is the best I've ever had. Chicken is always consistently perfect, tender and white and we feed our family of four for less than $25 for 2 orders and chicken fried rice for the hubby. Can't beat that. We carry out regularly from here and no where else...NO COMPLAINTS HERE :)

This was our first time getting food from here, the service was quick and the staff was courteous and friendly. We ordered beef and broccoli combo and hot and sour soup. To my taste, the soup could have been a little spicier. The beef and broccoli was amazing! We were very happy with our meal and will be returning for more.

A great trio of take-out choices. I decided on Shrimp Lo Mein , Sesame Chicken, and Broccoli with Garlic Sauce. My broccoli combo was coated in a slightly sweet and spicy sauce. A good choice for me tonight. Waiting for the guys to try their meals later. I have a feeling they'll be glad I decided to stop here on the way home tonight!

Unfortunately, my favorite Chinese place appears to be under new management (and no longer offers the great deals they used to), so I've decided to take a look at other local Chinese carry-out places, and happened upon Golden Bowl. The only thing I can say about this place is that the food and the quality of the food vastly exceeds what is typical of Chinese carry out. As a previous reviewer mentioned, they're clean. When you walk in you can sit and watch your food being made. The kitchen is not covered by a wall or a door. It's clean, period, end of discussion. The food: I'll admit that I'm basically a one-trick pony when it comes to Chinese food. I like General Tso chicken. I like my chicken to be white meat (nothing is worse than biting into a crunchy part and wondering what part of the chicken that came from). They pass on both levels. The fried rice incredible. It was definitely a cut above the "all yellow" variety, or the "all brown" variety. It was *not* uniform as though it was purchased as frozen fried rice and simply heated up. I also arrived well before I was told my food would be ready and got to watch the cook make everything. They're serious here. This place, however, is completely carryout. They have three tables if you wish to dine in, but clearly nobody does this. On one of the tables was an opened can of coke that had the Christmas theme on it (if I couldn't actually "see" into the kitchen, this would have been a little alarming). The prices, as well, are not fantastic. My lunch special cost $7.50. I was given a good amount of food, but I was spoiled by the lesser but far cheaper $3.99 specials at Happy Garden (that are no more). The combinations come with a generous amount of fried rice, and an egg role, as well as enough Duck Sauce to get through the egg role (which was also very good).

This is tied for the best Chinese food I've had. The other one is Chinatown Carryout on Mack Ave in Detroit. I'm so glad Golden Bowl is close by!

I have lived in Macomb for six years and have no idea why tonight is the first time I have tried it! Usually we go to PF Chang, Pei Wei or Dragon Phoenix for Chinese and I'm less than thrilled about it. However, my hubby loves Chinese so I am stuck with one of those three at least twice a month. No longer! Golden Bowl will be our choice for carry out from this day forward. We ordered General Tsao, Almond Chicken and Chicken Fried Rice. Everything was hot, fresh and so good! I didn't feel like I was eating mystery meat. The gravy for the AC was savory and looked like gravy, not some strange bright yellow goo. The fried rice was fresh and flavorful. And for some reason, we were given four extra egg rolls! Definitely try this place, you will NOT be disappointed!

I don't live in Michigan anymore but when I'm home visiting my family I always want to eat here. I get the hong shu chicken which is so tasty I think this is something they only have in the Midwest. The veggies are always super fresh and crispy. Really tasty good quality and the man and wife who own the restaurant are very nice.

Reviews here are accurate. White meat chicken, tasty egg rolls, tender beef. So far we've had the general tso's chicken, beef w/broccoli, shrimp lo mein, and sesame chicken. I just ordered again for tonights dinner. Can't wait till my husband comes back with it!

So I have passed this place a 100 times without even knowing it existed. I grew up around this area and never heard of this place. I came onto yelp and decided to try it out. It did not disappoint. It was awesome to walk in and see the cook in the kitchen with an open kitchen. We walked in, placed our orders and we were out of there within ten minutes. The food was excellent. I got the Almond Boneless Chicken and it had a great crisp. My girlfriend got the Kung Pao Chicken and liked it as well. I would prefer the almond boneless chicken though. We will be going here again for Chinese food.

  • Kim N.

I really love this place. I eat here about once every two weeks. the owner/chef is from NYC and it shows in the quality of the food. Everything is made to order and the veggies are so fresh. It seems that they purchase their food at least bi-weekly or more because a couple of times they had to close early because they ran out of food. If you have a chance eat your food at one of the tables there, you can really taste the different textures that makes chinese food so great.

This is great carry out Chinese restaurant with great food. We go here quite often and are always greeted by friendly workers. The place is also very spotless. It has a few tables in it which are moslty for waiting for your order. The kitchen is visible from the waiting area and is spotless. The bathroom is also very clean. I have heard it said that the bathroom cleanliness reflects the cleanliness of the kitchen and in this case it is true. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant and I would recommend the Chow Mei Fun.

This place used to be ok but there is always something there menu is constantly wrong, menu prices and website prices. Credit card machine like another person mentioned. Things that aren't on the combo menu, they have to uncharge for cost of beef, now they don't include x amount of eggrolls, screwed our last order up which was a large order and they didn't seem to care to resolve it etc etc Here again tonight but only to pick up food for my wife I banned this place on my list and refuse to give them anymore of my business. Food is good but just not worth the trouble wife wanted one of her favorites so I caved. Happy wife, Happy Life :)

Had to try this place because it is close to home and read mostly positive reviews. Wasn't that impressed. My boyfriend ordered chicken pad thai which I questioned him ordering that from a Chinese take out place. I was right. It wasn't very good. No peanuts and zero spice when he ordered it medium. I ordered the seafood delight meal. The "crab" wasn't real crab. False advertising! Spell it with a K if you aren't serving the real thing. Also the little bit of lobster in the dish was too tough to eat. We had a better experience with the food right across the street at New Moon

Great, fresh Chinese food. Not salty whatsoever. Big, healthy portions of food. You will definitely have left overs. It's a mom and pap shop which is great! Everything seems to be cooked to order. Crab Rangoon is the best I've had at any Chinese restaurant. I recommend them! Also got fortune cookies and almond cookies for after dinner which was great. Only reason this place wasn't given 5 stars was because the food did lack a little bit of flavor. I had the almond boneless chicken and my bf had the sweet and sour pork (which I did not try) I did have to use some soy sauce to kick up the flavor a bit. I will be back for sure, and an excited to try something else new!

  • Olivia W.

Food here was alright. It wasn't the best but I've definitely had worse. It's a carry out only place & the time for your food to be ready was very short. They have many coupons on their website to use. The only negative thing I'd have to say is that they have a $15 credit card limit, otherwise it's cash accepted only. Service was friendly but it wasn't exceptional.

Best Chinese food carry out! I recently just moved to Michigan and there's not many good Chinese food places here. But golden bowl is by far the best

I was not "wow'd" by this food. My General Cho's chicken was over breaded AND overcooked. The egg roll was bland. The shrimp fried rice had plenty of clean, decent sized shrimp in it, but it also was missing something flavor-wise. The highlight of the meal was the beef and broccoli my son ordered. It was very good.

Amazing food! It has a clean kitchen you can see into unlike many Chinese places. I always get steamed chicken and vegetables with garlic sauce.

  • Alex L.

I cannot believe the great reviews for this place. It was absolutely horrible. I asked for the house fried rice which is normally a safe bet. GROSS, it had fake krab meat, minced green beans and ham that tasted like it was coated in brown sugar. The lo mien had no flavor and was sweet also. To add insult to injury it took 40 mins for a carry out. I thought this might mean it was very busy because of how good it was. Wow was I wrong. It took that long because the husband and wife owners must be too cheap to hire any help and they were there all alone. The final straw is that the menu stated one price and I was charged another. The explanation: prices went up, the new menus aren't printed yet but we're still charging the higher amount... Really?????? Normally I'm one & done if you don't impress, but this was soooo bad I had to yelp. Negative 5 stars!!!

Ended up here after several failed attempts at finding a decent local carryout spot. This place has all the Chinese carry out classics done right. Add friendly service, accurate wait times and free egg rolls (with cash purchase) to already good food and you get greatness!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
