Achatz Burgers Menu

Ordered the double mushroom swiss with rosemary garlic fries. I knew the burgers were small, that is why I ordered the double. No way that was half pound of meat. Burger was okay, should have ordered the special. Fries were good though.

Great place - The burgers are great. I love the Brown Butter Fries. Homemade buns make the burgers very unique. The food is all made to order and is very fresh. The service is excellent. The staff is polite and the place is very clean. I highly recommend you try it.

Interesting burgers. Not exactly what I had in mind but not bad. My husband lived their smaller, more doughy buns. Me, I prefer a softer sesame seed style. The meat itself was decent. Cooked on a flat top. With your choice of toppings. Oddly, tomato wasn't on that list. About $5 a burger. Fries are extra. It is an okay quick stop while shopping if you are looking to dine in. I was impressed with the cajun fries. If you are looking for a menu I posted a picture of their menu.

Update: I've been back a handful of times, and have yet to be disappointed. Apparently the St. Clair Shores location has closed (!), but here's to hoping this location sticks around. I've sampled a few items on the menu thus far, and here's my recommendation to you: 1. Order a Hamburger over a Hot Dog 2. Unless you're feeding your entire family, just order the regular size fries. 3. Fries are still best eaten right away. Not suitable for long-distance transport or refrigeration. It appears that they drizzle melted butter on them before adding seasonings. 4. This is the same Achatz family that runs Achatz pies and Achatz soups. Both are available as sides if you want to get your fix. 5. TRY THE MAC-N-CHEESE. You're welcome. 6. The buns are still the best part of the burger. 7. The burgers may look small-ish, but they expand when in your stomach. Ordering more than two for yourself is a fatal error. These guys take their food seriously, which is refreshing in the era of "good enough"/"maximize profits" food joints. I have a few pictures I'll upload as well. All in all, 5/5 best burgers this side of In-N-Out.

Went here today and grabbed an achatz special large fry half brown butter half Rosemary garlic and a malt. PROS - burger was really good like a cleaner fresher Big Mac. - malt was legit - friendly staff - atmosphere, decor, and theme were really great CONS - fries were too thin and crispy for my taste - slightly expensive for what it is - small portions

I'm not quite sure when I became such a ho for cheeseburgers, but apparently I am...big time. While the first thing I noticed at Achatz's was a limited menu, after thinking for a minute I asked myself what burger joint doesn't have limited options? The next thing I noticed? Super helpful and polite staff members. The young lady behind the counter was great help, describing the special sauce and telling me about the chili - bummer that it does not contain beans. She suggested the Rosemary or Parm Fries, and of course I ordered both. The fries were tasty, even though I prefer thicker cuts. The burger was delicious. I went sans special sauce, opting instead for my usual toppings of double cheese, onion, lettuce and double ketchup. The hot dog was ok. Not bad by any means, but it didn't blow me out of the water either. You'll love it if you are 12 or younger and know no better, but a more refined palate will find it lacking. Overall I'll definitely go again, but I have yet to find anywhere that top's Halo Burger in Troy or my bros at Five Guys.

I love the burgers here. The buns are home made and they taste like it-so good! My husband feels like the burgers are on the smaller side, but I think they are a good size. I guess if you have a big appetite they can be a little small. The fries are so good too because you can get them 6 different ways. I'm also an old soul.....so the 50's and 60's music is just the icing on the cake for me.

Best Burger in Metro Area. How this place does not get more attention for that is Beyond me! Fries leave a bit to be desired, but are still ok.

If you've been to Achatz Burgers in St. Clair Shores, you've been here -- it's the same quality of food, and it has the same sort of style. The service is a bit iffy, but the place just opened this week, so give them a break! Achatz remains one of my favorite places to go for a burger and fries, and I'm glad they have a second location that's a little bit closer to my house. I'll add to this review and post pictures soon. EDIT: Consistent and fantastic. I was in here a couple weeks ago and my burger was so fresh off the grill that I basically burned my mouth on it. The fries remain some of the best I've had anywhere, and the food as a whole is just fantastic. The only con is... they won't hire me for some reason. :( Oh well, doesn't change my opinion of their insanely tasty burgers!

Habit Burger, In-N-Out, Five Guys, Smash Burg, I've had them all. Achatz is better. We won't even mention the factory-produced poison in this review, they're completely out of contention. The bad news is you're hungry. The good news is you have, all of you have, an opportunity to taste a divine burger. Go here now. Grab yourself a Mexican Coke from their fancy display fridge. Finish with a slice of their generational pie--it's brilliant. Dine in and soak up the sweet vibes, or take these delicious foods to go. Bravo Achatz!

During our ongoing quest on deciding where to have lunch I convinced my wife to try Achatz Burgers vs. B-spot, kona grill and five guys...(my main objective was to avoid traffic) Success, she agreed! Considering this was our first time eating here my fingers were crossed and faith was dependent on the yelp reviews I had read. Upon first glance, very clean, subway tiles on the walls, motor cycle hanging from the ceiling, old school music, cool vibe. We each ordered the Achatz supreme, and shared 2 types of fries, Rosemary Garlic and Chili Cheese. When I took my first bite of my burger my eyes literally opened wide and I felt as if I was levitating over my body and looking down at myself, lol - I have not had a burger this good for as long as I can remember. The bun is soft and doughy, the beef is juicy and the sauce is a take on 1000 island, AWESOME! Fries were also good but we came looking for a great burger and that is exactly what we got. Great job Achatz!

alrighty. . took my 13-year old nephew out to dinner. He chose Achatz. I asked him to repeat himself as I'd never heard of it. He said "Achatz. A-C-H-A-T-Z". Hmm. . I said "acketts"? Like Buddy Hackett without the H?" He said "I don't know who Buddy Hackett is???" anyhoosers we trooped on down to Achatz. . . what a cute place! Anyone remember Ricky's from the late 80s? It's like that - a little diner. Nephew got a hamburger and fries, hubby got hot dogs and a strawberry shake. I was good and just got a grilled cheese. Then I nibbled on some fries and had a few sips of a strawberry shake. Everything was delicious! The bread was amazing. Nice and buttery and low-fat, I'm sure. The staff was very friendly. We got there about 45 minutes before closing but never felt rushed.

On my way to five guys and saw this place. Knew it would probably be good quality such as Achatz pies are. Same family different companies I was told when I asked. Anyway, quality was excellent. However u do pay for it. My bill was $8.98 for a 1/4 pound cheese burger, small fries, and drink. I will be back. Love the oldies too!

My new "go to" burger place. The BEST Burgers on Hall Rd!!! If your looking for somewhere quick and easy this is the place. Don't expect anything more than burgers, dogs and fries or you will be disappointed.

  • Ashley T.

Okay food, way too expensive. Managers need to be more friendly they just seem to care about making profits rather than giving you the correct amount of food you paid for. Should have combos, but they rather take all your money. JEWS!

Just stopped in for a carry out this was my first visit at this place. I wanted to try the delicious tasting burgers that people have bragged about, and I was not disappointed. I ordered their special with no onions it was very juicy and delicious I liked it better than five guys. Now the french fries are a different story they are thin, crispy and some of them are actually kind of sharp I know that seems silly to say that French fries could be sharp but it legitimately was pokey and sharp. All in all the burgers are worth it, probably will not order french fries again though.

Aching to get out of the house ,suffering from Cabin Fever this is just what the doctor ordered 10-22-14 Walked in and the very 1st thing I noticed was how SUPER CLEAN it was & the very friendly staff, plus the retro look & 1970's motorcycles The bride & I split a 1/2 mushroom swiss burger with mustard grilled onions & mushrooms ,mustard & mayo . small regular hand cut fries classic chocolate malt Only reason I'm giving it 4 stars and not 5 is whomever was on the grill had a heavy hand on the burger, it was VERY SALTY Also I'm a huge fan of hand cut fries , but someone must have been distracted as they were all overcooked ..brown little sticks, however they were still edible. Burger for $5.50 was more than enough for both of us to share, meat was moist, the fresh baked bun was very good. The Chocolate Malt was a 5 star event I would run it against any chocolate malt anywhere for $3.60 deal! Total tab for dinner for two $12.36

Went here yesterday with Husband and friend. It's a small place, probably not best for big groups unless you go before/after lunch and dinner rush. Got the Achatz Special with cheese fries -- pretty good. We came here because some other review stated "better than In-N-Out" (a California burger joint that has a simple, but spectacular menu). And I have to disagree a TON. This place has good burgers for a low price compared to places like Red Robin and such, but I wouldn't say it's the best. Their 'special' sauce was good, but I didn't think it was better than the Big Mac's sauce.... I recommend getting extra on the side. Their cheese fries were alright, but I'm more of a Checkers fries kind of chick. We were a little upset with the service because my Husband asked for Chilli Fries and they gave him Cheese Fries and when he told them, the weren't willing to change it. My Husband tried the Vernors Cooler and that was great!! They also offered Achatz Pie slices, which are amazing, but only had Raspberry, so flavors are limited. I think it's worth checking out if you're on this side, but I wouldn't say it's better than a place like In-N-Out.

What I love about Achatz Burgers is the limited menu and the awesome fresh buns! ooh la la! I ordered a cheeseburger (served with two patties, cheese on a fresh roll) and butter brown fries. Cheeseburger was messy and delicious. Should have opted for a double cheeseburger because I was still hungry after eating a regular cheeseburger. For the price, the burgers are on the smaller side. Plenty of toppings to choose from. I ordered the butter brown fries. Not exactly sure what butter brown was but boyfriend picked it so I had no choice but to try it. Meh. Just tasted like soggy fries caked in butter. Would have much rather tried the parmesan, ranch or chili cheese fries. Shakes, Malts and Achatz famous pie to choose from for desserts. Everything is made fresh daily. Burger patties, buns, etc. Hand cut fries too. Chicken sandwiches also available if thats your kinda thing. Place had a weird smell. Bleach perhaps? Only one lady was working and there was several hiring signs posted. She worked her booty off though helping all the customers and cooking all the food.

Very tasty burger, identifiable as beef. The grilled mushrooms and onions are just that, not scary freeze dried things. They don't offer tomato slices on their burgers though. The Parmesan&garlic fries are great, if a little oily. They use crisp fresh shoe string fries, and flavor them with rosemary oil and seasonings. The place is a little loud and sterile feeling. They have a vintage decor going that clashes sharply with the fresh built strip mall.

I have been to the other location and this one is just as good! Great burgers and fries. Prices are a bit high for what you get but id paid that any day over a burger from Burger King or McDonald's. Everything is fresh and cooked to order.

In the words of my stepson MEH, basically first time there getting a to go order. Burgers were average, not anything I would go out of my way for. But better than Mcdonalds

Hands down: "Best small burger around"! "Homemade fries (Rosemary-Garlic) are unbelievable"!

Brought the family and we enjoyed a little of everything. I had the Achatz Special, and it was great, the ingredients, the flavor and the sauce were exceptional. The bun was a little on the soggy side, just needed to be baked a little longer. The fries were the star of the show. The rosemary garlic fries were the best fries I have ever had at any restaurant, fresh cut, every single fry was perfectly cooked, crisp and hot. The flavoring was awesome too! We finished our meal with a slice of 4 Berry pie ala mode! I'll be back for sure!

It's prounced Ak-its like jackets. Fyi Mmmmm MM that's a tasty burger! I just heard this place opened, and I went there on a Sunday. Well guess what? They are closed Sunday. I was irrationally mad because nobody told me that. To get over it, I returned Monday. Now I am not a burger gal. I don't really eat a lot of red meat period-let alone beef. So why did I go to a burger joint? Because I'm looking for things that taste good. Duh. This place has it. I came in and ordered a chocolate malt, parmesan fries (one of many choices) and a mini cheese burger. If I get a burger, it better have cheese on it. You then tell them, what you want on it, because they come plain. I ordered sweet relish and their secret sauce (fyi the secret is it's like big mac sauce or thousand island) . then I paid my $10 ish buckaroos and sat and waited. About 5-7 min later my name was called. I got in my car and sipped that malt. It tasted (and I quote myself here) like 1984. That's when I was a little girl and distinctly remember traveling with family to a malt shop and having one. That made me so ridiculously happy you wouldn't believe. The mini burger was tiny, just a tad bigger than a slider at white castle. The fries are thin, a bit thinner than McDonalds fries. But the parm on them and the crispness, so good. The burger bun was made from fluffy perfect angel bread. That's right I said it. Angel bread. And it made this non-burger girl immediately resent not getting a full size, or at least 2 more of the mini's. The fries IMO were perfect. If you like Wendy's fries, steak fries, etc... you prob wont like these. But if you can open your mind to a new old school experience, you will like Achatz. Give them a shot and be transported back in time when a malt, fries a burger were not 1 lb and covered in toppings and sauces-it was just straight up good. Nom nom nom.

Have stopped here a few times for dinner. Good classic burger and the fries are decent. Was expecting them to be bigger in size. Overall I would return.

I have to say I was pretty skeptical about eating here. I mean pies and burgers are completely different things and I had low expectations going in. Was I in for a surprise! This place is great. Fries were thin and crispy, although not over cooked, and had a nice seasoning on them. Burger was cooked just right and to my pleasant surprise the grilled onions were cooked in real butter! I don't think I've ever found that, most places just use some icky spray to cook them in or some factory made "butter". Food came quickly and was inexpensive. Looking forward to going back and trying some new things.

Best burgers in macomb county. They do things right, and the burgers arent a sack of grease like some resturants I know (5 guys). The fries are amazing. And the floats are spot on.

This new restaurant is tucked into a strip mall across from Partridge Creek and just down the street from their closest competitor, Five Guys. I'm comparing the two because they are very similar in menu, set up and prices (except that Five Guys doesn't have shakes and Achatz doesn't have peanuts). The burgers are pretty small, but oh so delicious. The restaurant touts their fresh baked buns, which were buttery and delicious, if a little too small. Their fries are of the shoe string variety and, while tasty, could have been a bit better - maybe get one of the flavors offered to spice them up a bit. The milkshakes were good, but nothing to write home about. We didn't try the hot dogs or the soups. The restaurant is clean and bright and the service was just fine. Between the two restaurants, I prefer the Achatz burger over the Five Guys burger, but to be honest, to come away spending almost $40 for a family of four on almost fast food, you might be better off heading to a full service restaurant. I'll be back, but mainly for the convenience and to avoid the long waits on Hall Road's full service restaurants.

Tried to order a carry out at this place but was placed on hold for 10 minutes. I was driving and eventually walked in the store and asked them if they took phone orders. They said yes and I showed them my call on hold. The girl said whoops, sorry. I placed my order and went home. At home I notice that my sons burger had cheese and I know he does not like cheese. I ordered it without cheese. I asked my wife to stopped there while I called the store to have them replace the burger. I was told that I have to bring the sandwich back. I asked to speak with a manager and ended up with the owner. He told me the same thing. I told him that my wife is stopping there on her way home and she could pick it up. He insisted that we bring it back. I purchased $40.00 of food and this guy still insisted that the order was correct and I need to bring it back. My wife called and he did replace the burger without bringing it back. Do not think I will ever be back.

I've only eaten here once, but it was all delicious. The burgers are much smaller than expected. The buns are delicious, might be the best bun for a burger I've ever had. The fries are thinner and crunchy, the way I like them. Anyone who loves burgers should definitely check this place out.

  • Vince D.

Great, Great burger. It didn't take more than 2 bites to determine that this was the best burger I've ever consumed. I had the 1/3 lb bacon cheeseburger and a side of Cajun fries, which were phenomenal in their own right. The burgers are a tad small, so the next time I will go for the 1/2 lb option. I will highly recommend this place to others looking for a good burger

This place is amazing, the slogan "Best buns in town" is true, and what can I say the BUNS make the BURGER! I was hesitant to try this at first as burger joints have been popping up everywhere, Five Guys, Smash Burgers, Burgerz but I figured eh what do I have to lose? Well boy oh boy was I wrong with that dismal attitude. This place filled a burger whole in my heart, now every time my husband and I are craving burgers this is the place we go. Oh and I cannot forget the French fries and hand dipped malts. The Rosemary Garlic Parmesan fries are the best around and there are lots of other flavors to chose from. The décor inside is cute, but the food is what keeps me coming back. Sorry Five Guys, Smash Burger, and Burgerz you all have been beat no more business from me!

  • Brett G.

You must try these burgers. Fresh buns, quality meat. Nothing about this place is frozen or mass produced. You can tell the difference. This is my new #1 burger place in the area. The food takes a little longer because everything is made as its ordered. I challenge anyone to find a better burger.

  • Matt C.

Burger is small but tasty. The hot dog isn't that good. They claim fresh baked buns but what I got was cold & oddly moist. The fries are skinny & VERY tough. They definitely need the malt vinegar to soften up. The shakes are too runny & not worth the money. I may return to see if qualify improves.

I'd take this place over Five Guys any day. Fantastic burgers, hand cut fries and delicious soups. Perfect for lunch. Love the old school decor and sock hop music too. Definitely worth a try.

  • Jennifer M.

This place is awesome! Better than Five Guys! The buns are buttery and delicious, more like a roll. They have a lot of different fry flavors. And you can mix them. I ordered the Parmesan and Rosemary/Garlic...YUM! I got a carry out. I was impressed when I got home. They labeled everything so we knew which burger was which. They even cut a small slit in the fry box so the steam could release, hence no soggy fries by the time you get home. Genius! The only advice I have if you've not been there yet. ..the burgers are smaller then Five Guys so order a double!
