Charming B&B run by a charming couple. Mom and I spent one night on our Michigan road trip this summer. They're just a couple blocks off the "main drag" so there's a bit of traffic going by, but it was quiet while we were there and it was easy to walk down the the restaurants and shopping. They have a small off-street parking lot so you can leave your car with peace of mind. They were very great about accommodating our schedule, and really helpful when I screwed up our reservation the first time I made it. The inn itself is very well kept and comfortable. We stayed on the third floor, and though the stairs were a little narrow to navigate with suitcases, the room was just as nicely done as all the others and the A/C kept the room from getting too warm or stuffy. Nice linens and pillows made for a good night's sleep. Breakfast in the morning was very tasty, well presented, and served with delicious coffee and pleasant conversation. Everything you'd expect from a B&B.

The Ludington House Bed and Breakfast was offered last year on Groupon. I knew we would be making a visit to family so decided to purchase the offer. It was such a beautiful property and the hosts were extremely welcoming and gracious. I hadn't been to Ludington since I was a small child. The town was very quaint with lots of antique shops and restaurants just a few blocks away from the bed and breakfast. The history of the house was explained as we were shown around the property. The owners lived on site and everything was very well maintained . The room we chose was spacious, and lovely antique items were carefully placed around the room, I had chosen the room got the claw foot tub and the foot bath which were both in working order and which I used much to my relaxation and delight. One of the owners had just gotten out if the hospital after having suffered a heart attack and open heart surgery . They had a wonderful helper but I can only imagine doing all the routine chores was tiring. The breakfasts we enjoyed were fabulous. Everything home made and served with French press coffee. Bottom line is the area is beautiful , the home is beautiful and the service was exquisite . Give Ludington a try, I think you will really enjoy it. We plan to return .

My wife and I just returned from two very comfortable and memorable nights at the Ludington House B&B. As fans of historic B&Bs, we look for a number of things. Architectural integrity, well-documented history (preferably a home of some significance to the area), location, aesthetics, character, and of course price. This place won us over on all fronts. Run by a very nice older couple, this B&B was once the home of a lumber baron. Built in 1878, it retains so much of its original character, down to the stained glass windows and ornately-designed door hinges, radiators, and doorknobs. The home is known for its composition of many types of wood. Woodwork here is intricately carved and meticulously preserved. Our room, the Blue Room, was perfect for us. A queen bed with very comfortable blankets, and a large window with a perfect view of the house across the street (built by one of the sons of the original owner of the home). It snowed almost constantly while we were here and the view from the window was like a dream. The bathroom is a modified closet and so it is rather small. We didn't mind, since we understand how difficult it could be to retrofit a bathroom from a closet, and we give props to whoever managed to get it to work in the first place! Its location is conveniently located in the historic residential part of town (and surrounded by other majestic old mansions), not far from downtown. The den is warm and cozy and guests are welcomed to use it for reading, tea/coffee, or just to sit and listen to the music. Books, magazines, and newspapers are available. Homemade cookies are stocked. And the breakfasts are very good too. I've never had roasted grapefruit before. I hate grapefruit, but roast it, serve it warm, and sprinkle some brown sugar on it and it's a whole different story! The Ludington House Inn is highly recommended if you wish for a quiet, relaxing getaway in a small town. We found the price to be very affordable (we also had a Groupon).

We just got back from our Michigan vacation, and I was itching to review this bed and breakfast. I have done quite a bit of traveling with my mother, and we love to check out bed and breakfasts around the country. I have to say that this one is one of the best I've seen. I love old homes, and this is one definitely fits the bill. The owners, Bill and Kris, do a wonderful job running it. The home is big enough so you don't feel like you're crowded by other guests but oh so cozy and beautiful. Every room (I think there were 8?) is absolutely beautiful, and each has something different to offer. Breakfast was delicious, and Kris is full of wonderful ideas for things to do while you're in town (and what a cute town). What I enjoyed best about this bed and breakfast is that these two have done a great job of preserving the historical feel of the home but not at the expense of comfort. Often times I've comes out of a bed and breakfast with a bad back, freezing, or dying to watch a little news on tv. These rooms are equipped with wonderful mattresses, small tvs, little cookies for snacks, and wonderful old-style bathtubs (the original tub is still in the rose room). I will definitely be back, and I would recommend this old home to anyone coming through Ludington.

My husband and I loved our visit here a few weeks back. The inn was wonderful, the room was great and the innkeepers were the best. We noticed that all the rooms were tastefully decorated as we were given a tour of the inn. The whole inn has a wonderful aura. Breakfast was very good both mornings we were here, and my husband loved the french-pressed coffee. Town is just a very short walk down the road and the lakeshore a little ways beyond that. Anytime we are looking to stay in Ludington, this is our inn of choice.
