Definitely nice having that fresh pressed tortilla, and you best believe getting that burrito BOBed (all mixed up) is what's up! Now the actual food is kinda salty but it's all still great. The hot sauces are very legit and hell yes I'll pay extra for queso on my burrito. I usually get the tortilla well done because it can get kinda chewy. Don't get a burrito to go because it is not enjoyable as a chewy slop mess. Step up your carryout game pancheros! Gotta snag that burrito card too because I'm about that free burrito life. I wish they would get more experimental with different specials or seasonal stuff. I'd say second behind the almighty chipotle.

When I was a student in Ann Arbor I thought the Panchies there was the only location until I moved to Lansing just to discover they have two locations near MSU. This is definitely bar crawl food - food to stuff your face with when you've had too much to drink on a weekend night. So it was very weird to actually sit down in a Panchies with families and teenagers there with me. The food was reminiscent of my college days and the 'homemade tortilla' was on the spot. We got the carnitas burrito a combo veggies and carnitas burrito. The meat was juicer than we remembered from Ann Arbor and I was thankful I asked for extra salsa on the side to cut the heaviness of the food. It was yummy and we went due to a craving but any other day we would eat at Qdoba or Chipotle. The staff was friendly although they talked to each other more than to the customers but the tables and booths seemed to not have been wiped down.

One scoop of steak in a quesadilla and cheese. Extras cost. Quick service and good tasting, but only a so-so value for a $10 lunch if you add chips ($1, but guacamole or queso costs $3 total). Food is done fresh, tastes good. Lacks variation of ingredients, but simplicity can be a virtue for lunch speed. Free WiFi at restaurant.

Always great. Always fresh. Always awesome. My favorite burrito joint in the Metro area. I wish there were more of them. I go here at least twice a week. It's a must to hit it at least once on the weekend. The staff is always quick and friendly.

Pretty much echoing the other reviewers... this place is basically a spinoff of Chipotle, Qdoba, Baja Fresh (there is one literally across the street). Everything is pretty standard... not as flavorful as Chipotle, not as cheap (comparatively speaking) as Qdoba, and not as many options as Baja Fresh (their salsa bar at least gives options). Basically the only positive that I got from this place is that yes, the tortillas are freshly made and they're good, you get a pretty substantial meal for around 8.00 burrito, and they do mix up the burrito fixings before they fold the burrito together (i'm sure if you ask the Chipotle people to just do this, it will make their tasty burrito even tastier. The only reason I came here was because I loved by my burritos, and worked at the TCF down the street (and never knew there was a baja fresh across the street).

Better than Chipotle and Qdoba. Ingredients are fresh and everything is prepared in-house. I was introduced to Panchero's during my days at MSU and now can enjoy here in Livonia/Northville.

Panchero's is amazing! They're very affordable and I love that they offer rewards cards and that they have fresh small diced jalapeños! Most other places only offer large canned jalapeños, if any.

I probably should have checked yelp before I went here because as previously stated the food is just ok. It's bland. I'm eating but I don't really taste anything. I got charged extra for everything. Extra sour cream, extra corn salsa, and queso. And the girl that checked me out was very rude! Save yourself the time and just go to chipotle or qdoba.

Oh it's just like Qdoba/Chipotle. SLAP. Sorry, my bad. They have FRESH tortilla that they press on the spot. MmmMMMM... Actually it is pretty good. LOL :) And they smush everything together which is also nice. And makes no different to me whatsoever because I always get a burrito bowl and I smush things myself. They also manage to not forget that I ordered double steak, which is. well... normal but nice if they would forget by the time it gets down the line. Does that make me unethical? A lil bit, but I love food, and am a bit cheap, what can I say. I loved the tangy sauce they had. Yum. Whatever it was. The green one.

Nothing too special. Kind of like Chipotle but not as good and just doesn't taste quite as fresh. About the same in terms of prices. Service was friendly. Anyhow, it is fast and convenient if you are in the mood for some "meh" Americanized Mexican food that will leave you full.

I don't care what the other reviewers say, I love Pancheros! The shredded pork burrito with veggies is sooo delicious. What makes Pancheros stand out from the other burrito chains is that they actually mix/stir all your ingredients together before rolling the burrito. Brilliant! I get a taste of everything in one bite. What I also love about the burritos is that they take a ball of dough and have a press machine to steam out an awesome fresh shell every time.

The last few times I've been in here its like the staff is having a party. No one cares, you walk in and they're all talking to each other, joking around, and ignore you for a good minute while you stand at the counter waiting. Tonight was the worst. I walk in, there's a girl at the counter talking to one of the guys behind the counter. She just got off work and they're just goofing off, joking, having their own private conversation totally ignoring that I am standing there, a customer, waiting to order. She keeps talking, knows I'm behind her, then jokingly calls him the N word and then she's like "its ok I'm off the clock!" I'm so done with this place. I work in the food industry too and I never treat customers like this.

I should have paid attention to the other reviews and avoided eating here. My husband and I both got a burrito bowl, he got steak and I got chicken, and the flavor was salty at its best. The chicken was undercooked, the salsa looked like tomato sauce, and the cilantro lime rice had no flavor whatsoever. The only silver lining was the queso dip which I couldn't eat because the chips were coated in salt.

There are a few reasons that put this above the other burrito places in the area in my opinion. They cook the tortilla from raw dough on a press right when you order it, and then place it on the grill. (I recommend telling them to leave it on the grill a little longer than they do), they have fresh jalepenos as opposed to pickled, and they toss the ingredients in the end, so you don't get clumps of a single ingredient in each bite. They are also open later than their competiors, and offer whole pinto beans which is rare around this area as well.

I tried Pancheros for the first time today and had minimal expectations after reading other reviews. I wasn't disappointed not was I impressed. I ordered the chicken burrito with rice, black beans, and medium green salsa. I would rate them 3rd behind Rio Wrap and Qudoba because it didn't have any flavor aside from the medium spicyness of the sauce. They need to add some seasoning to their meat, that would help. The staff was very friendly and quick. My only complaint would be that every table in the place was dirty at 11:15am...... Not appealing for a 1st visit, this is Livonia/Northville, not a college campus. Overall not a bad place, not great either, better off driving another 1.5 miles to Qdoba at 8 mile.

This place is in trouble as soon as Chipotle opens on 7mile. Skimpy! They have gotten cheap cheap cheap. Tiny scoops of meat, cheese and salsas. Used to be excellent, now I just feel ripped off!!

No thanks. Seriously. I came here one night with my ol' lady after we weren't sure what to get for dinner. We walked in to get something to take home. Neither of us had been there before so it was nice to go somewhere we hadn't been yet. This place is extremely lame. It's set up like a poor man's chipotle (which is also pretty lame). There were two workers behind the counter. One helpful and nice young man that kind of looked like the fat kid from Superbad. He was helpful and doesn't deserve any of the negativity from this review. He was probably the only reason this place gets a star. Good for him. The other worker was a young woman who had this bitchy look on her face, the entire time we were there. Not just with us but with everyone that came in the place. I mean she looked pissed with everyone and everything. She also was very unpleasant and haphazardly tossed around the food and utensils. I had stepped out of the place to explore the other restaurants and when I returned this bitch just starred at me. I mean starred at me like I knew her. It was really weird and after about a solid minute of her starring at me I started to stare back. I saw her folding a burrito and it ended up popping open with food spilling out. She saw it and didn't care. She just wrapped up the burrito and served it to the customer anyways. While our food was being prepared by the very nice jonah hill look alike. A third worker came out from the back. This bitch had her sleeves rolled up like to her arm pits. That shit was nasty! I'm also pretty sure it's a health code violation. No thanks! The homemade tortillas were shitty. Flimsy and ripped when the moisture from my shrimp taco hit them. The shrimp was also a little tough. No real flavor in the salsa or the shrimp. Not interested in returning. It's an awful version of the Mexican American food people are used to. Honestly no need to ever go here.

This place was not that good. Their burrito was expensive and was no where near size or quality of the other burrito chains. The line was almost out the door too. Also, the mix the burrito ingredients before wrapping it up. That's stupid. That's so stupid. I'm not going back.

  • Peter M.

It's quick, fresh-mex with a simple and effective menu. If you need a burrito fast or a fix of chips and melted queso (spanish for cheese) this is the place to be. It's fast food though folks so keep your expectations in check and appreciate it for what it is.

In a world where fast-casual Mexican restaurant chains are opening up at an alarming rate, the owners of Panchero's decided to zig while the others are zagging. By opening a fast-casual Mexican't restaurant. The meal opens up with great promise when you're waiting in line. The "burrito artist" starts by tossing a large tortilla on the grill. He then piles your chosen toppings into the tortilla and uses a silicon spatula to mix it all together so ever bite as a consistent taste. Cue Alanis Morrisette singing ironic, because the one thing missing here is flavor. And I'm not talking about missing the big, bold, spicy Mexican flavors here. I'm talking about flavor, period. The chicken was nearly tasteless. The salsa was watery. The beans and rice were little more than texture and fiber. At the end of the meal, your stomach is satisfied but your taste buds are still hungry. Even if it's just fast food Mexican, you can do way better than this.

As Taco Bell has exploded from fast food restaurant to national cult, Mexican restaurants have expanded substantially in the marketplace. You know all the chains, but I personally was unfamiliar with Panchero's. Food was good but nothing fantastic (peach salsa excluded). Would have liked to try the grilled veggies but they bump up the price if you want them. The service is why I had to drop a star, employees weren't ready and one had a borderline attitude. If no one is in line and there are two employees a 5 minute wait shouldn't occur. This place isn't bad but it isn't very good either.

This place is a step up from Taco Bell, both in quality and taste. Because you can easily customize your order, this is our go-to place for healthy-ish fast food.

If you like raw tortillas and cold tacos, then this is your place. It's pricey for what you get. I got 2 chicken tacos, they were so small and I was charged a little extra for the guac (which is standard I guess). It was over $6 and that was it, no chips, nothing. The girl in front of me got the burrito bowl, which is all the fixings in a burrito minus the tortilla, it was over $7 and it there was NOTHING to it basically. I won't be going back.

I really liked the shredded pork tacos. Great homemade corn tortillas and the pork was juicy and delicious. I added pico, corn salsa and a little cheese. No complaints from me, and I've enjoyed some pretty darn good Mexican food in California. Note: certainly the atmosphere is what it is. Don't bring a date you're trying to impress, but go there after the date to eat some good tacos!

Don't bother. Go across the street to Baja Fresh.... you'll be happier. The meal was completely uneventful. everything was a la carte. Walked out still hungry, but didn't want to risk getting something else. There are way better places like this in Metro Detroit (See my Salsarita's reivew)

I was cautiously optimistic when a new flow-food place opened up in the College Park shops on Haggerty. After all, Mexican is a fave, and I've been searching for a good place along the Haggerty miles. I didn't care if it was just one grade better than Taco Bell, for I always judge the book by the cover. My expectations lay somewhere north of fast food and somewhere south of Mexicantown. (Hm. Maybe direction metaphors aren't the best when reviewing foods from over a border.) I was terrifically disappointed. Often times, I'll give a restaurant a second go before a review, but this one swung three times on one pitch. Dry, small, and just bad, the burrito bowl fumbled big time. (Hey, if you're going to mix metaphors, shoot from full-court.) Until Livonia or Northville decides to add yet another traffic-stifling tax-pit to Haggerty row, my quest will remain unfulfilled.

Just because I have "experienced better" as the 2-stars indicate, it doesn't mean I wouldn't eat here. It's still food that's convenient, but definitely not the place if you're really looking to enjoy authentic Mexican or if you're eating more for the experience than for sustenance.

Horrible. Worst meal I have had in a long time. Bland, bad ingredients, frozen or cheap. The food result of corporate, suburban America.

What's wrong with the food? Is it the mushy beans, bland rice or tasteless beef? All of the above. The setup is a little bit like chipotle but they are very slow.

Love how they make their own tortillas right in front of you! This place is awesome.

A great choice for a fast food that isn't burgers. Service (counter style) is pretty fast even when they get slammed. Food is consistent. They do go a little over board on charging for the extras, but still always a good lunch for the money. Not sure I would ever do dinner there.

I went here today for lunch, hoping to silence my cravings for Chipotle without having to drive to Ann Arbor (30 minutes away... probably more since it was the beginnings of rush hour). Plus I was up that way anyways since I stopped by Laurel Park. Well... I should have driven to Ann Arbor. I got the chicken burrito bowl. The chicken was super dry. The rice (cilantro/lime, in theory) was beyond bland. I asked for extra rice, and got two fairly small scoops. I didn't get any beans (not a fan), so I can't comment on those. I think she put cheese in my bowl. Or at least she asked if I wanted cheese. I guess I wasn't paying attention, but I certainly didn't taste any cheese. This could have been due to the fact that there was so many peppers and onions in the pico de gallo that you really couldn't taste much else. I'm pretty sure the corn in the corn salsa stuff was previously frozen, and the corn was very 'flat' and didn't seem to taste very corn-like, if that makes any sense. Overall, I was super disappointed since I wanted to like them so much. I would have saved money and had a better meal at taco bell.

Usually panchero's is not bad. After all, chain restaurants should have the same standard and consistency at every location. Unfortunately the day I went, the rice and chicken was a bit dry. But I chalk that up being near the end of the night. I had the chicken burrito, and as always, the tortilla used was o so delicious. If someone could combine the tortilla of pancheros and the fillings of chipotle, then it would be the grandest burrito ever. Still, I think Chipotle is still the king if you are ever in the mood for a nice fat burrito.

Not like it used to be in E Lansing, but better than Qudoba and Chipotle. I think I remeber this place being a fun greasy late night stop when visiting friends at MSU, but they seem to have cleaned up their act and going for the fast fresh mexican angle. I think they do a great job. they fulfill by 2 beefs that I have with other burrito joints. First, they grill the burrito which Qudoba does not do and they end up with a gummy sticky mess and Second they mix all of the filling together befopre wrapping. So, you get a little of everything in each bite and not just a bite of rice, a bite of Sour cream, and then a bite of beans. nice work!

This place is great. I thought at first it was going to be like taco bell but I was pleasantly surprised. They make the tortilla right in front of you! They press the dough and grill it and then put your food in it. My favorite is the chicken burrito but all the food is good. It is more of traditional Mexican burrito with lots of rice and meat. They have great salsas and sauces. You might be tempted to get more than just a burrito but don't it is VERY filling. The staff is always nice and quick. You hardly ever have to wait in line and the food is always fresh. If you are looking for a quick Mexican meal that will fill you up this is the place!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
