Throwback Thursdays are great! We got original Olga's sandwiches for 3.69$ or something pretty cheap and the orange cream coolers for 1.75$ for 1991 prices. The service was pretty good but I've gotta say ... it was like we were eating at an airport kiosk. The restaurant isn't completely closed off to the mall. The portions were great - definitely did not skimp on the meat. I would definitely come back again for this deal!

I am addicted to Olga's. The bread is simply to die for. That being said this place is way overpriced. Fries or a salad is going to cost you extra! I am on their email list and they normally send out coupons, so that helps.

I just don't think I'm giving this place any more chances! I've called and complained & written, showed gross pics etc.. It's just not good anymore! You've just got to know that I was a true 100% "Olga's fan"...and this 6 mile Olga's has been my favorite for many years. Whenever I was hungry and/or needed a "pick me up"...I would head over to this specific Olga's Kitchen restaurant and enjoy many things on their menu. I understand that things change over time and they say that they don't want to be known as the "great bread /sandwich place at the mall" any longer...but why not? When you are the best at something..then stop! I know, I know there has to be changes and room for improvement, right? I felt that they were the best BEFORE all of these changes took place! You cannot even order a "side of fries" anymore at this place. It comes with the platters/sandwiches etc...but if your teenager wants a side of fries it is not even a "button" on the computer and they charge 2.99 for a handful of curly fries! I met up with the district manager, F.D. and told her of mine and many of my friends and relatives concerns with the new changes and back then it was regarding many unhappy trips to this Olga's including dirty silverware and just everything went wrong when I was with my cousin and then with my friend for lunches out. I have tried again and again to get back to being a "loyal" fan and customer, but I guess it's just not for me/us anymore. I went back the first time after talking with F.D. and the silverware was bright and shiny. She'd told me they needed new "jets" for their dishwashers and apparently that worked because the silverware has been spotless the last couple of times that we've tried to go back again. I went once with my daughter and another time with my friend and my cousin and things started to go wrong again. F.D. had told me that she was "mortified and was going to buy my dinner /lunch next time" just to have me come back and try again. I've been back several times and although I told her "You don't have to do that" , and I wouldn't have accepted it...but it would've been nice to have been offered the original "offer" after our conversation about how many things went wrong on my last visit to this 6 mile Olga's. Regardless, like I said...I don't want anything "free"...I'm never ever looking for that...just for things to be right and tasty and good...and to have an enjoyable lunch whether Im with my friends, hubby or daughter. But this last time I visited recently, I was with my husband. He'll eat anything that doesn't walk away!! But me...I'm not "fussy", but I like things clean and correct! I ordered a fried chicken sandwich with "one cheese" on it. I asked for cheddar cheese. It came with a piece of hard and thick, cold -ish cheese on my hot Olga-bread sandwich! It' was pretty gross!~ The waitress was kind enough to take it back and she brought out another one and this time they'd stuck it in the micro-wave too long and the cheese was hardened in spots and melted to a hard rubbery "crispness" ..if that makes much sense?? LOL....it was hard and rubbery in spots and then the thinner spots were crispy and burnt. So .....I sent it back and just asked for a Spinach pie....can't go wrong? Right??? WRONG!!! It was the poorest exuse for a Spinach pie that I've ever seen! It was flat, burnt, crispy and hard on all 3 corners with hardly any filling of spinach/cheese in it. I was perturbed but very kind to the waitress and I kept telling her it was not her fault. Then the one manager "T." came up to me and kind of "poo-poo'd" my displeasure by telling me that I'm just kind of picky and not like my husband who will eat anything. It was something of that sort, but I'm not quoting because I cannot remember the EXACT words that were said. But you get the idea?!! The district manager happened to be there and came over to say "hi" and I tried to say "hi" and tell her what had happened and I wanted to tell her about the shameful spinach pie and the whole story of that day's visit (which is what she told me to do when we saw each other and had a meeting one day. She gave me her business card and said I could call her and let her know if something was not right!). So as I wanted to tell her everything, the gen. manager "T". was "shooing" her away and saying that it was just "me" and that "oh her cheese was just a little too thick"....NO THAT was NOT the WHOLE thing!~ But I can see she didn't want to have me complaining once again to the district manager and the district manager was or is probably sick of me by now because I don't give up easily. I just like things to be right!! I have to stop going there because there comes a point in time when you stop trying and just realize things aren't going to change or get any better ...or even go back to what they once were!!

I admit that I do eat here fairly often. I grew up loving Olga's. I was at the first Olga's in Birmingham, Mi. I remember the little stand that served delicious gyros and spinach pies. It tasted different but so good. Fast forward to my many experiences at this Olga's. The food has gone way down hill since those early days, but still has something that brings you back. The prices are high and the portions are small. The service is sadly lacking most of the time. Tonight's server was very sweet and very apologetic of the mistakes that seemed to plague our meal. My two sons received their plain chicken with three cheese with loads of mayo, lettuce and tomato. They sent it back and it took a good 15 minutes to get a new meal and we had already waited quite a while for the original meals. It is just frustrating and disappointing that such a wonderful concept with delicious food has turned so run of the mill. Probably not what Olga had envisioned. I will probably return but it isn't because they do things right. You take your chances and sometimes, you end up ok.

I was there recently and thought it was a joke when my food was served to me. The portion size was half of what is used to be. When I confronted my waitress about this, I was told that Olga's cut their portion size by 25%. Buy bye, Olga's. Never again!

Time after time Olga's at Laurel Park Mall draws me in and nearly every time I sit down and think "why do I to this to myself"? We came early in the lunch hour with no wait. They sat us at a 4-person table near the entrance which was "set" for new diners but covered in crumbs. We waited a couple of minutes for our waitress to come by and pointed it out to right away to be cleaned up. She promptly grabbed the spray and rag, asked if it was good (like we put the crumbs there -- but then apologized) and we went on with our order. Ordered two "soup & salad" meals, both with out onion. Low and behold, there was onion on both of our salads and the salad looked like it had been marinating in dressing for a good amount of time. We didn't order the endless portion, which means that it should come with a medium salad, but it clearly didn't. Much like other reviewers, our server was great at drink refills but displayed no personality whatsoever. She didn't seem to be overloaded with tables but yet she couldn't see the onions laying on top of both of our salads that we ordered without AND she couldn't remember who had what type of soup. Also, we were served a smaller salad size because she rang us in wrong (probably to get the extra $2.40 up charge for endless). Overall, the staff this morning seemed to be disgruntled about something, constantly chattering in their headset and in clusters around the restaurant. The only reason there is 2 stars is that they managed to give a heaping load of snackers and my cup of brocooli soup was warm.

My question for Olgas period not a specific one is why the heck are you so stingy with the almond cheese? I ordered a large side of it and it is exactly the same size as the one that comes with it and probably the so called small.

Yay - it looks like there is a new manager here because service is so much better than it had been in the past. And that is a good thing. Food has always been a strong point at this very casual sit-down restaurant but service has been hit or miss over the years. The menu has also evolved over the years but my love for the Original Olga sandwich remains strong. The sandwich consists of seasoned gyro meat, sliced tomatoes, onions and Olga sauce (yogurt sauce) served on delicious Olga bread (sweet pita bread). I always order extra sauce for dipping. Also delicious is the Three Cheese sandwich which contains melted cheese, sliced tomatoes, and Olga sauce. While I tend to skip raw onions on most sandwiches, it is rather good in this sandwich - so I will only order it if there are no meetings after lunch. A side (not basket) order of snackers, Olga's bread cut into wedges, seasoned with paprika and sesame, served with cheese spread helped to stave off hunger without filling up. A side Greek salad offers a good vinegary counterpoint to the savory meal. Not related to the restaurant (and not reflected in the rating), but what is up with the 3G/4G service in this mall? I feel like I've time-traveled back whenever I shop at the mall and can't view email or apps. While Olga's has a separate wifi access point, it rarely provides quick, consistent internet access.

I'm typically in love with Olga's mainly because a good friend of ours happens to be the Director of Marketing; however, I was less than thrilled with today's experience. I'm withholding names to avoid embarrassment. Really, the 2-star rating this time around is simply because our server had ZERO personality and wasn't friendly in the least. That, and my fries were cold. The sandwich is always fresh, but those fries need to have a shorter life cycle in the kitchen. The server was wonderful at refilling my drink, but didn't seem to want to make conversation. I get that everyone has bad days, but when you're in the service industry you pretty much have to keep a smile on all the time. That's all.

Oh my what a disaster. Went here with one of my friends while we were shopping. This particular Olga's is located right in Laurel Park Mall. Love the mall, but this Olga's fell below the mark in quite a few areas! First of all there was a line and the young lady said it would be a 5 minute wait for us. This 5 minutes turned into 20 minutes. You look around and there were at least a dozen tables that needed bussing. If you have no one to bus the tables, then the hostess, waitresses, whomever should help clean those tables off for good paying customers! Finally was able to sit down after a very long 5 (heh) minute wait. Sat and waited and waited. Finally, someone comes to the table and says she'll be right back! I really didn't see what the problem was. This Olga's is not humongous by any means and me and my friend counted at least 10 people working in the dining area. What's the problem Olga???? It was very disorganized and we even told the waitress that. At that time she said they were 3 people short that day. HELLO - maybe everyone should step up the game plan to ensure your customers are taken care of properly! We ordered our food and drinks at the same time. We both ordered a salad and one order of zucchini fries. I've never had these and my friend just raved about them. Our drinks arrived and then this pathetic plate of mush came. We both looked at each and said don't eat any!!!! I am attaching a picture of them to this review. Anyway, someone finally came by and I asked for the manager. Another 5 minutes or more and finally she came. My friend asked her what happened? And, then she said would you spend your money on this????? The manager said no and asked us if we wanted another order - me thinks not!!! Very disorganized, not clean, and very very slow. I would highly recommend whoever is in the kitchen to please look at the food you send out - presentation is very important. I have been to other Olga's and had no complaints, but this one receives a thumbs down!

This Olga's is good now. I was leery due to the poor reviews, but the service was quick and polite, and the meal was good. There was a busy lunch rush, but I was seated quickly, and my food was delivered very fast.

The food was fine and standard Olga's. However, the service was terrible, so terrible it almost became amusing. The kitchen burnt our food so we had to wait a long time for what should have been a simple order. Another customer left after ordering dessert because of the wait. The manager hounded them into returning into their seats. The staff was hit and miss, friendly and rude but almost always incompetent, with our waitress forgetting multiple things we asked her for. Silverware was missing from almost every table. The manager who I felt some level of sympathy for should really use some discretion and offer discount/free dessert when the staff messes up, but at this location they might go broke. Again, the level of service I expect from Olga's is already lowered because of the mall setting but this was ridiculous. The food was fine, but you better expect dinner and a show.

Unfortunately not all Olga's are created equal. Luckily, the problem is not with the food but with the service. First of all, this particular Olga's is very popular. Since it is located in a mall it is usually very busy. If you go during the lunch or dinner rush you are almost guaranteed to be waiting in line just to be seated. This wait can be anywhere from five to twenty minutes so be prepared if you're going during the popular dining hours. Secondly, since the place is practically always busy the service can be very slow. Often times your meal will take longer than you planned for. The staff is definitely friendly and accommodating, just very slow. Lastly, the food is average. It's the same no matter what Olga's you go to so no surprise there. Overall a fine place to eat when you're shopping for the day. But not just for a quick bite.

Decent, but far too pricey for what is essentially a gyro and fries. My wife, son and I stopped in for lunch during a Laurel Park trip. My Olga original and fries were OK, but my wife's Olga burger was nearly raw. Disgusting! Would have sent it back but my wife lost her appetite at that point and my son was getting cranky. Needless today we will not be back! Update 7/23: I heard from Olga's customer service and then the store manager regarding this. The manager offered to replace my meal, I accepted and never heard a thing after that. That was over a week ago. Apparently Olga's like to do damage control but not actually follow up on fixing their mistakes. Pretty lame.

The kids just love Olga's, so we eat here frequently. This particular location is inside of Laurel Park Mall. My new favorite sandwich here is the chicken shwarma. It was on the menu for a limited time and is now gone, however I have asked for it several times since and they have made it for me. This location is fairly clean. Service is usually good, but not always. Depending on the time of day, there can be a very long wait to get a seat. If you manage to get a seat at all, be prepared to wait forever for your order. It seems as if they simply cannot handle a full restaurant. Be warned that there is zero cell phone reception in the restaurant. They claim to have free Wi-Fi, but there is zero Wi-Fi either. This has been like this for at least the six years I have been eating here. I will continue to eat here with my kids, and I have no problem recommending it to anyone. There are a few issues, but it has not stopped me from eating here.

I have had trouble with the hostess before here not being very friendly, my nine year old daughter even noticed. The waitress was great. She turned the music down for us which was blaring in our booth. I thought I ordered a medium olga and salad combo, however the olga was so small and had no sauce on it. It was not worth 6.99. Next time I will order a regular size olga for I think a dollar more. The snackers here were great as always.

I have long been a fan of Olga's. That warm soft and pillowy pita bread is just fabulous. If you have not tried an Olga you must. On this visit I went with my mom and dad who are also Olga's fans. I am a fan of the original Olga, the Gyro-like lamb and beef mixture with onions and tomatoes, I always get Olga sauce on it (a sour cream based concoction) and jazz it up by adding pepper, garlic powder and cayenne pepper from the shakers at the table. I also on this occasion (as with most others) got the Olga side salad, a delightful combo of lettuce, tomato, feta cheese and olives with a subtle greek-like dressing. The combo is always a winner. Fresh and tasty, not too awfully bad for you but delicious. My dad got the same combo. We ended up with bottomless salads for just 99 cents because of a special. Happy! My mom had her usual: Olga's White Bean Chicken Chili with a piece of Spinach Pie, a combination of spinach, feta and ricotta, hand-made with phyllo pastry and baked to a golden brown. It comes with snackers, seasoned crisp olga bread pieces with a dab of swiss almond cheese. We liked her snackers so my dad ordered us a basket of them. They gave us two big containers of the swiss almond cheese to go with. Between the bottomless salads (I had two bowls, he had three) and the snackers we both just ended up taking our sandwiches home with the leftover snackers (he took those) for later, so we each got two meals out of it. It was a very good meal indeed. A lot of food and so happy. Service was nice, food was fresh and everyone was satisfied..

I was very generous to give my 1 start. Just got my order and I have to say they need to step up soon and hard. I've ordered 1 full size house salad, 3 fried chicken sandwiches and 2 gyro sandwiches. It took over 10min to place my order and another 30min to have the CARRY OUT, cost almost $52 before taxes, and 5min later inside our house, 'SURPRISE!' the meat was dried out and instead of the Olga's sauce, I got cheap runny mayo!! Wow, what a bad experience... I think it is because they are the second major resturant and right at the center of the mall, so they have enough people to charge a lot and serve awful food... quality is no longer their number 1 priority. And the yummy pitta bread (like the real Olga bread of 5years ago), looked like a very hard pancake, very chewy and hard, anyhting resembling what I used to get.... too bad, next time I'm going to Leo's down the isle. I think anybody can beat this quality for $52!!!! AWFUL. SAVE your money too, spend at Cpk, Leo's and Sweet Lorraine's (I'm skipping Max and Erma's as well, same problem, overpriced/bad food/lousy service). If you really crave Olga's go to an Olga's that prides on quality.

Now I haven't been to an Olga's in a while, but I will not return to this location after last night's dinner. It was a slow monday evening at the mall and there were probably only 7 tables with people at them when we got seated. it still took about 10 minutes to get our drinks, and that was by the hostess due to our waiter not even coming by yet. then when he did arrive he sat on the table next to us take our order. I don't care if you've been on your feet all day, you dont do that. he also never made eye contact and was more interested in looking away from the table than in our general direction. We were then given a "few" minutes to figure out our orders, which was another 10 minutes. then we were given dirty silverware and one of our lemonades had floaties in it... and not the usual type you get with fresh squeesed juices. And all of this was taken care of by the hostess because again our waiter was nowhere to be seen. dinner took way too long considering the place wasn't hopping and when it did arrive i was given a sandwich that was already soaked through and tearing and fries that weren't cooked. Sorry Olga's, I will have to find orange creme coolers somehwere else.

What a disappointment! The menu looked like nice healthier options compared to the dining in the immediate area, at the very least fresher. I got my order to go, as I am staying at The Marriott, which is connected to the mall where Olga's is located. The girl who "helped" me was not very pleasant. I arrived early, so just had to wait a few minutes. The peasant stew looked lovely. Too bad it was cold. It only took me 5 minutes at the most to walk back to my hotel room. Then I had the pasta salad. They should actually rename it "oil salad". The bottom of the box had about 1/4 of an inch of oil in it. The food was inedible. What a bummer.

This is my favorite restaurant in Laural Park! The food and service is always good , and it's always clean. I love the Cream of Broccoli soup, it's like no other. It's one of the reasons to eat at Olga's in the first place. Another great tasting item on their menu is the Salad. I have never had a salad as good as it is at Olga's! The snackers are Delicious! I would recommend the All you can eat soup, salad and Snackers combo. When your done just ask for more. As much as you want. Yet another great thing on their menu is the 3-cheese olga. I have not had it in awhile but that with the curly fries are Great. I still order it sometimes but when i was little that's what i would always get. Hands down the best drink is the Orange Cream cooler! I don't even like Orange flavored things but i love this. It's a bit more expensive than Water or other Pepsi Products but it's well worth it. Though it's not much of a refreshing drink you can always get water or Pepsi with it.

My wife and I just had lunch at olga's in Laurel park. the portion was too small for the money we paid.. we each ordered a gyro and a side. the side is literally 2 spoons of hummus and bread. we paid $30. I think it is overpriced and not worth it at all...i would never go back..the only good thing was the service. our waitress was great.

The problem I have with Olga's is... that I like too many damn things from them! We don't go very often so I feel like an Olga's hoarder, always having to get all my favorites. I've sneakily convinced Ken that he also loves the snackers + cheese and Cream of Broccol soup, so we can split a basket and a big bowl (meaning I slurp lots and he gets some). Now if I could only convince him that the Fried Chicken Olga with Olga Sauce instead of mayo is sooo much better than his choices well then my evil plan will be complete... mwhaa haa haa

My wife and I have eaten at Olgas for several years and at several locations. We enjoy the food at Laurel Park and find the service to be very good. (Laurel Park is closest to us and therefore frequented more often) I always get the original Olgas and to be truthful, I have not found a Gyro, or Yero that compares. The fresh bread is better than the warmed up pitas you'll find at local coney islands.

This is one of my favorite places in Detroit to eat. I have fond memories of going here with my mom when I was 5. I'm bummed that there are absolutely NO Olga's kitchen's on the west coast, this is why I can only give them 4 stars! :-) I am a super fan of the 3 Cheese Olga and the Original Olga, and if you've never had their curly fries I highly suggest it. This is the only restaurant I've come across that puts garlic salt/powder on the table. Its awesome. I highly suggest it.

I have to say one thing, I LOVE OLGA'S! Their food is above par and always tastes great. I have been going to this Olga's since it has opened (I was young). I get the same thing I have gotten for years, The Three Cheese. I also always order the Cream of Broccoli Soup with Pizza Snackers (the best). If I am feeling like a brain freeze, I will order the Orange Cream Cooler which tastes good. I have never had a problem with service before and my drinks are always full. Great place to take your family, date or just yourself.

That's all.

My question for Olgas period not a specific one is why the heck are you so stingy with the almond cheese? I ordered a large side of it and it is exactly the same size as the one that comes with it and probably the so called small.

I was there recently and thought it was a joke when my food was served to me. The portion size was half of what is used to be. When I confronted my waitress about this, I was told that Olga's cut their portion size by 25%. Buy bye, Olga's. Never again!
