OK so I see them on TV 2 and things look great so I am going to give them a try. I drive by 5 to 10 pizza places to go here so they better be good., Nope. I call, and they have lasangna on the menu, which has ricotta cheese in it, but I can not get it on my pizza. WTF? OK so I order a pizza with pepperoni and it is so greasy I have to pull ALL the pepperoni off and sop the grease up with paper towel I endend up eating a few slices and throwing the rest out. NEVER AGAIN. Wish I could give it negative 5 stars. TV 2 should be ashamed. PS. I gave this a price range rating of $$$$ because the gas station pizza I had should have been $2 not $ 10.

Small, quaint, friendly and delicious. That sums it up for this little gem in Livonia.

3.5 stars, better than average but not yet a fan. We had a last minute craving for pasta and wanted to stay local. We'd heard good things about Luigi's pizzas and after looking at the menu online, decided to give it a try. No waiting on a Saturday night in Livonia which was a great way to start the evening. They remained busy but never any waiting. The tables are fairly close together so not the place for intimate conversations. Our entrees came with their warm parmesan bread squares and salad. The salad was great, a variety of lettuces and shaved parmesan which we had dressed with the house balsamic, very tasty. The bread was just okay and no dipping oil, boo. A positive was that our server willingly brought a dish of olive oil to the table= nice customer service. She said others have requested the same so perhaps the owner should take note. The lasagna serving was generous and tasty. The spaghetti with marinara sauce was a little flat and just so-so. It didn't have a fresh tomato taste nor much in the way of seasoning to make up for that. The added Italian sausage was very tasty. They have a limited beer selection but a nice wine menu as well as a small stocked bar tucked back in the corner. The service was great and we've decided we will definitely give Luigi's another go, giving their pizza a try next time.

I used to work in Livonia and Luigi's was by far my favorite place to get lunch. It's just west of Merriman, watch for the driveway it comes up pretty fast. The subs and pizza are good, but my favorite item to get was lasagna! Meat or veggie style...you get a very generous helping and a piece of bread for a little over $5, mmmmm, tasty! They are very friendly and efficient as well, you're in and out pretty quick. I'd recommend them over any other place in the vicinity of Plymouth and Middlebelt.

Great local restaurant in Livonia. It used to be a pizza joint but the family renovated and add a nice little bar and a great selection of wine with an expanded menu. The pizza is still great but the entrees are awesome. The Chicken and Veal Piccata are great. All of there pasta's ( many handmade) are so good. The fresh homemade dinner rolls are delicious too! Friendly staff and the owners are always around making sure everything is great. They just built a nice patio which will be great if it ever warms up

Went for dinner with my daughter. I had minestrone soup and spaghetti and meatballs . The soup was rather thin...not very hearty. Flavor was ok, nothing very special. The meatballs were very good, but the sauce was flat tasting. The bread served with dinner is good. My daughter had the veggie sub and declared it good even tho it was a little on the spinach heavy side. Will I return! Probably since it is veryclean and the service very friendly . Will try something else next time.

I spent $57 for pizza and salad (carry out) yesterday. Very, very disappointing. No taste at all. Very dry, could hardly find the sauce. A very big disappointment. I would say: don't waste your money. I would never eat here again. Little Caesars $5 pizza is much better. I sure miss the old place.

My wife and I returned to Luigi's the other night, and we really enjoyed our meal. The minestrone was delicious, the Lasagna out of this world, and the service was very fast and friendly. The prices were very reasonable, especially for the beer and dessert. We will be back soon! UPDATE: We have since returned (even sooner than expected), and their Meatball Sub was wonderful! Messy as you expect with a meatball sub, but they were some of the tastiest meatballs I can remember.

Went there for lunch today and...well not so much! You are sort of expected to know the routine at this place, and if you are not with a veteran or have not done it before, it can be intimidating for some I suppose. You walk in and head directly to a Subway type glass case with many ala carte choices. Many things to pick, but there are also many more items you can order off the menu board on the wall. Without pictures you don't really know whats good (or what it is), so you almost are looking for a suggestion or two, which you likely will not get. While you are scanning through the lasagna pizza and wingdings in the case, you can feel the burning glares of the workers behind the counter waiting for you to "hurry up already and select your item". Sometimes there are specials, but you have to ask...then whatever you do, don't freakin lolly-gag after they tell you. I guess the bottom line is, the workers at the counter are really not about the warm and fuzzy intermingling with the peasants that come into their domain, its really about order what you need, and kindly move along. I was not so impressed with this visit, which is a shame because they represented so well at the 2010 Taste of Livonia event...then again the owner was really on top of things at that event. This was not my first time at this location and I keep hoping it will get better, but sadly it does not...this will likely be my last go at giving them a "go".

My husband and I are NEVER disappointed when we order from Luigi's Pizza. Family owned and established in Livonia, it is some of the BEST Itallian Pie that we have had. The staff is very friendly and always greet us with a smile. Since they now deliver we ususally have it delivered. It is fast delievery and HOT when it arrives. If they say 30 - 45 minutes, they're usually there in about 25 minutes. The cheese bread is outstanding, as is the Pizza. Give Luigi's a try...you will NOT be dissappointed!

The four cheese pizza was really good, the crust is good but not the best I have ever had. Service has always been good. Some of the less glowing reviews are old and the issues no longer apply. Sandwhiches were really, really good when I was there for lunch less than a week ago. Side dish options with sandwhiches were good and we tried both the fries (perfectly cooked steak fries) and the italian pasta salad which was very tastey. I have not tried the pasta dishes here yet, but I look forward to continuing my trip through their menu. The pizzas are good sized and amply loaded with toppings. I'm a fan and this place is worth the trip, but as good as it is I can't give it 5 stars as there are other places that I think can be better. I've not been disappointed though and recommend people try this place.

Amazing! The appetizers and menu is so incredibly affordable and delicious! Very clean, stylish, and comfortable interior design. Such a great place to grab a business lunch or even to host an event. Family owned and operated with great quality! Serves drinks and has a bar for watching the game too :-)

The pizza was beautiful. But the sauce was bland. The taste was so so. Nothing worth bragging about. Kinda expensive too.

Lobster Ravioli were great, the Calamari were tasty and the Tiramisu was moist and yummy! Wait staff were attentive and great with my kiddos! Overall the sauces were good! We will be back! I recommend the seafood linguine!!

This is a great pizza place! I think the prices are good and the pizza is even better. I've never had anything else here other than pizza but I'm sure the pasta is equally as good. The wait staff if friendly too. One thing I noticed the couple of times I've been here is, it's never really busy. And this is during the week and weekend at peak dinner times. Typically if I was going to get pizza I'm going to Buddys down the road but this is a good place for an every now and then pizza.

Went to this place tonight again for a friends birthday. The service was great. The owner remembered us and greeted up upon arrival. His kitchen is spotless, and the servers go out of their way to make sure your experience is memorable. I'll be back.

Here's the Luigi evening experience you may want to consider... This evening, with a 1 below wind chill factor and ice surface conditions I decided to take my 83yo cabin fevered, arthritic mother out for dinner. Pizza was the request. We decided to try Luigi's. Dropped mom at door because of slick spots outside in the parking lot, went and parked. I walked in to find the hostess telling Mom it would be a 20 - 25 minute wait. Owner walked up to me and said "you going to stay"? I said sure. There were about 5 parties before us ranging in size from 2 - 4 and one party of four behind us. The only four seats in the waiting area (two - two seat benches) were taken, so we stood. I stood with a direct view into the kitchen. Mom had a view of the dining room. I was beginning to get a bad feeling about the place as I watched the kitchen function. There were about seven (minimum) employees back there preparing food. Only two of them had any type of required head covering on their heads. Nothing from hair nets to hats on at least six. The two that did were using what looked like sweaty old recreational baseball caps. Additionally, two of the food preparers had full facial hair (full beards/ moustaches) completely uncovered. I'll be filing a report with friends at the city and county health departments on Monday to put them on watch and investigate. There I stood thinking, maybe this isn't the place to eat. The owner personally took care of that decision for me. After 20 minutes the only remaining waiting parties were us and the party of 4 behind us. At the twenty minute mark the owner approached me and asked if we would like to eat at the bar. (That offer wasn't made immediately upon entering because he was only offering bar seats to people who wanted to sit there and eat - not wait. Poor business practice.) The offer was amazing because he was too insensitive to see that the 5'6, 83yo woman had difficulty walking and getting up on a 4' bar stool would be virtually impossible. This whole Luigi experience was going negative right from the very top of the command chain. A seat on the small bench finally opened up from the other party waiting and my view changed from kitchen to dining room. I was shocked at my view. There were two 4 tops and two 2 tops empty in sections with wait service. I mentioned it to Mom and she said "they've been empty the entire time but I don't like saying anything." So the only two remaining parties waiting for thirty minutes shouldn't have been. As soon as the owner saw that I was figuring it out, he got up from his seat at the bar where he was flirting with a girl there, went over to the hostess and had them 'quickly' put the tables together for a large party. There was NO party of that size on the premises waiting for a table at that time. No one! My Mom and I and the other part of four were there with money in hand waiting over half an hour and the owner was making sure that he saved space for money that wasn't even there. I could have been seated, eaten and left before a group that size even assembled themselves on the premises. It was apparent he was playing games and there just wasn't enough money in a two top for him. I proceeded to help Mom up off the bench and back out into the cold, unfed and rather frustrated. The owner (standing less than six feet away from us) saw us leaving and didn't even make an attempt to come and say anything. I would never ever EVER go to this place again. His lack of respect for senior citizens let alone his customers was amazingly insensitive. I asked Mom where she wanted to go eat and she picked a place a mile from there where she and her friends are regulars. We sat down, the waitress she knew greeted her and the first thing out of Mom's mouth was "Never eat at Luigi's" (you have to love the tact of a senior citizen). The story spread through the restaurant in epidemic fashion. Its apparent Luigi thinks holding out for the bigger fish is better than the small money fish that's right at his door. I leave the description of the owner's conduct to my mom's words to the people at the place we finally ate "You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear."

Not to long ago my very pregnant wife attempted to order delivery as they advertise. She was told that she wasn't worth their time because the order was too small. Luigi's is walking distance from our house. Had my wife not been so pregnant she would have just walked there as she had many times before. My wife will never eat there again because of this treatment. It just seems like after the hundreds of dollars we have spent there, they would have been a little more sympathetic and drove the 30 seconds down the street too deliver food to a loyal customer. Their loss I guess.

My husband and I love this family owned and managed restaurant. I am a pizza nut and Luigi's has the best pizza. My husband loves the lasagna. The portions are huge and we always have enough for lunch the next day. The staff is warm and friendly. We do not live close by but are willing to drive for a great meal at Luigi's.

Food is still 5 star. Everything in my earlier review still stands. Stacy was our server again and awesome as before. I think I love her...I just need to be 30 years younger. It'd never work anyway, my wife would get mad. Seriously though, try them out!

We love Luigi's pizza. We dined with my large, extended family there the other night and despite staying past their closing time, the whole staff was fantastic! The pizza was delicious too.

Home cooked Itailian food is top notch! Service is awesome! I have been coming here at least once a week for a couple years and I'm never dissapointed. Great family buisness i will continue to support!

Service is good and it's near my work, but the pizza is not that great. The pasta dishes I have tried are frozen which is dissapointing that they aren't made fresh. The cheese sticks are amazing though.

OK. Took forever to get our food. Salad was the only thing worth bragging about. Not very big servings. Idk if I'll be coming back. Very disappointed... Should have went to east side Mario's next door.

I have been searching for this exact TYPE of pizza for 4 years. I lived downriver and a place called Detroit Beach Pizzeria has almost the exact same crust and taste. I never thought I'd find that taste again! I'm not one to eat many slices, but I ate almost a whole medium. Great great pizza!!

Luigi's uses to be a very good deal with very good food. Then they decided to upgrade themselves to a fake ass upscale restaurant. I thought it would be nice to try them out the other day and get my old stand by the chicken fajita sub and some pizza like i used to. The sub was still great they didn't miss a beat then I tried the pizza and fugg! The pizza sucked a plain cheese pizza they managed to burn greatly these cheese wasn't very good it was a gelatinous mess mostly grease and the sauce lacked the sweet but tangy notes it used to have and even though I asked for extra sauce it was really skimped on. If it wasn't for the sub the rating would be much lower.

We love this place. Food is consistently good. The Gemelli Pasta is fabulous and the pizza is top notch! The kids mac&cheese is good enough to be for grown-ups...no Kraft here!

  • Dayna K.

Food was amazing! Our entire group of 9 loved our pasta dishes and pizza! Bread was delish. The only complaint I have is the service. Just slow and complacent. The dining room was pretty empty yet the servers were kind of standing around when they could have been much more attentive to the dining room. I hate to give 3 stars because the food is so good, but my friend is a regular here and she said the service is hit or miss all the time.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
