After buying a Groupon that gave me $8. off price of bill I was hesitant to even go after reading all the negative reviews. Yes it was very busy. That should tell you something. My wife and I were greeted immediately at the door. We sat at one of the tall tables. A fellow came up to us and said we came in the back way and others were waiting. I apologized and said we would move. He checked and said the next customers did not want that table and that we could stay. My wife ordered the crispy chicken strips. (I thought they were great). I ordered the Gaucho beef with onions and mushrooms. I thought that was good as well. It did take 25 minutes for our order to come. I told the waitress (Faye) that my wife was very hungry and dt is very loud in there with all the people. We were pleased with our meal. I gave Faye the 20% of the full bill before discount and would recommend George Murphy's. Thank you Faye!

This place sucks! The service is horrible, and the food is simply average. The prices though are good. Many times I have waited and waited for a refill. Have asked and waited some more. The place isn't that big where remembering a refill goes missed constantly.

Very disappointing. This is a great venue at a city of Livonia golf course with its panoramic views but this place has struggled for years with its service. We were suppose to hook up there tonight with 4 friends coming from out of town. The idea was to watch the Tigers catch up and get something to eat. We got there and there was a sign that told us to go away they were having a private party. How unprofessional! They're going to inconvenience the 100 people that would normally dine there for a one time event? This place is not set up for parties so I don't know what they're trying to accomplish.

I attended a bridal shower here over the weekend and had a really nice time. Great views overlooking the golf-course, excellent service, & very yummy food... I will definitely be back.

Positives: view (of golf course) and service. Our waitress was very nice and non-obtrusive. I wasn't familiar with a certain beer and she brought me a sample to try it. Negatives: Food was OK. Nothing "OMG" that you can't have at other places. I had a chicken caprese sandwich. The garlic aioli gave it some better taste. Their "homemade" focaccia bread though was literally covered in layer of salt. Even though I tried to rub it off, it was still very salty. Fries were on the soggy side. Mrs. had the black & blue burger. It was spicy! I don't have anything against it since I like spicy food but someone in their kitchen seriously loves salt! Both of these dishes were supposed to come with a pickle spear but they didn't and I had to ask for it. They were playing country music (not my favorite but I'm not complaining) but it was loud. I will probably visit again to try to something else.

I would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for the bartenders and waitress screwing up drink orders. The food was great! Best waffle fries ever. Mushroom soup was thick and rich. Even the cheesecake was tasty. Four of us ordered Tequila Gold shots. Two of our shots (mine included) was butterscotch and not tequila. The waitress kept blowing it off when I asked her to fix it. I was busy with an event going on there and couldn't press the issue and my husband just paid the bill. If you go, I would sit at the bar and watch what is going on closely. I wouldn't recommend for a group. Not very good customer service and apparently can't handle a crowd when it gets busy.

We went for the fish & chips after a friend mentioned that this place 'must be good because it gets busy on Friday'. This is not the place to go for fish and chips! The fish was cold and watery - a sure sign that it had been frozen. While many restaurants use frozen fish, it should at least be properly thawed. The batter was too thick and so greasy no one in our party of 5 ate it. The fries were mushy and the cold slaw was a tasteless scoop of cabbage. The service was mediocre. When the waitress asked how everything was I told her that it was not so good, she replied "that's great" and walked away. Needless to say, we will go to Scotty's for fish and stay away from George Murphy's.

Don't go here unless you want terrible service, bad food, and oh...food poisoning. I'm hugging the porcelain toilet as I write this. I'm done trying this place. Has gone downhill ever since they changed from being Sideline.

I am glad I didn't read the reviews before I went ahead and purchased the Groupon deal for 3 $25 gift cards, because I wouldn't have purchased them. We sat outside on a beautiful Friday night at 5:00. It was three adults and three kids. The guys ordered beer, and were happy with the large selection. I was content with my iced tea. The kids were happy they got pop with a kids meal! You can't beat a $4 kids meal that comes with a drink and ice cream at the end! I had the veggie burger with onion rings. That was an extra $2, but soooo worth it! The onion rings were freshly made and delish! I am still thinking about them! My DH had the fish and chips with a salad and my BIL had a tuna melt. Both really liked their meals. Our server, whose name I never got, was awesome! She was young and very good with our kids. We got very lucky! I debated whether to give 3 or 4 stars. The food was good, but not exciting. If a restaurant is going to get 4 or 5 stars from me then it needs to get me really excited. I didn't leave excited, but full and content. That's not bad, but I'm not dying to go back there. I will return...at least 2 more times, though ;-)

This place is entirely hit or miss. I live close, we got there once or twice every 2 months or so. Food can either be wonderful, or terrible. The food, IMHO, is very expensive for previously frozen items. The fries are gross. The service is either awesome or non existent. Mixed drink prices are insane. $2.00 16oz PBR's make up for A LOT. Pizza: This place has the opportunity to make some of the best pizza in the area. When I go, I ask for the dough to be pulled a little tighter along the edges and to make it a little more thin and cook it just a little longer. Comes out awesome! Better than that craptastic Buddy's pizza or any other Livonia made pie. Major downfall, they do not have Anchovies!!1?! I am not sure what kind of pizzagodless heathen thinks it is OK not to offer Anchovies. We'll go after a round of golf, for an outing, or just cause..but we never "look forward" to going there to eat if we are NOT getting pizza.

I'm REALLY disappointed with the way George Murphy's treats their trivia players. My team and I have been coming for trivia for the past 8 months. Every week, we order craft beer and dinner. I think that we have been pretty good customers. Every week, we have to negotiate with our waitress to include Happy Hour prices, as advertised. It seems they are always "having a problem with their computer." This restaurant has been around a long time, I find it hard to believe how disorganized they are. Then came the league teams and golfers once the summer hit. We were glad to see a packed house, but 80% of the room was then "Reserved" for the sports teams, and we were left with with very little options. We started coming even earlier to try and reserve tables for our 7 team members that came each week. Other teams simply stopped coming because they didn't have a place to sit. Our team was patient and we got over the fact that we would have to arrive 45 minutes early just to get a table. Then there were a couple weeks that trivia was cancelled due to lack of participants. Well - perhaps if they had a place to sit, and weren't treated so poorly, you might have more trivia players! This week was the final straw. Our team ordered dinner and over-priced craft beer, and the waitress brought the bills back with no discount for happy hour. She explained that Tuesday Happy Hour was cancelled as of that morning. You can't discontinue a promotion and not inform your customers or your staff. Too rude. This is a terrible way to treat your loyal customers, but even worse for your hard-working wait staff. Sorry, George Murphy's... but we will be going to play trivia at one of the 10 other bars in Livonia that offer great service and entertainment.

I tried, I really did. I came here 3 times (thanks groupon). Each time was different but still bad. The first time we ordered some sandwiches and they were just meh, almost blah but mostly meh. The 2nd time I got the steak which was ok, but the Mrs. got the "juicy" pork chops which were juicy but also raw, didn't notice till most of it was eaten - eww. I can deal with a medium+ pork chop, but rare/pink/raw? No. With the groupon x3 I had planned to eat there once then give away the other two, but I didn't have any confidence in the place to actually gift these (unless it was to someone I didn't like), so we went for our third try. After waiting 20 minutes with out menu's / greeting / drinks we left. I got my money back from groupon and wrote this review. I am done here :)

I have been several times after gof and both food and service are terrible. And overpriced. I cannot understand why anyone goes there. We leave our golf group there on fridays and go to sheehan's on the green. Outdoor tv to watch tiger games with good food service and awesome popcorn.
