I'm not really sure how rate the Swiss Inn. If you base your review on nostalgia and what else is around then it is 5/5 and has the best pizza around!! If I'm being honest then this place at best had local charm and decent prices. I've been going to the Swiss Inn ever since my family bought a cottage on the lake and their pizza was always a treat for the weekend. Twenty years later the pizza tastes like it some how came out of a can. None of the ingredients are fresh and maybe they shouldn't let the air out of the can the pizza came in, freshen it up a bit. The chairs were also falling apart. We tried five before we found two suitable stools. On a positive note the beers come in Mason jars and the menu is printed like a newspaper. This place is usually your only option up at Lake George and 9/10 your already blacked out so keep on keeping on Swiss Inn. You rock!

I recently vacationed with my family in Harrison, MI. My sister in-law was familiar with the area and particularly The Swiss Inn. She advised we should all stop in and try their pizza as it's top notch, particularly considering the limited number of options in such a rural area. We ended up ordering pizza out our first night, which lead to a sit down visit....the pizza was so good that a second take out order became requisite on our last night of vacation. The pizza - Very solid all around, we had pepperoni, sausage & bacon as well as sausage & mushroom for each take out order. The crust was very good, a little thicker that N.Y. "utility" style. The toppings and sauce were very good as well. Nothing to complain about and well worth going back for. The sit-down - During our sit-down visit I ordered the pan fried lake perch and it was excellent! Corn meal battered, perfectly fried, crisp goodness. It came with fries and a choice of sides (salad, coleslaw or cottage cheese). I had the cottage cheese it was good, the fries were good as well The table ordered your standard bar appetizers; onion rings, cheese sticks, fried mushrooms and jalapeno poppers. They all appeared to be from frozen but were fried skillfully, so they were all addequate bar fare. My wife had the wet burrito (an MI oddity - basically a beef & bean burrito enchilada style but with the garnish on the inside - too weird for my AZ raised taste). Being a Michigander my wife is a nostalgic fan of the wet burrito but was disappointed by the Swiss Inn's take on the MI standard. It was served open faced, garnished with store bought tortilla chips. It looked a someone spilled a taco salad and I would not recommend it. The atmosphere - A local rural watering hole. A small bar and two taps (mid-shelf whiskey/vodka/rum and Bud/Miller) so don't order anything fancy unless you're looing to invite some cross looks from the wait staff. I ordered a rum and Coke and received a tiny Vegas style highball glass with a drink as flat and watered down as any Vegas comped cocktail. However the shot of Beam I ordered was poured very generously and the Heineken was cold but not too. I would stick to shots and beers and stray away from cocktails. The kitchen is small but competent and efficient, the dinning area is quaint and family style. There a many TV's with a satellite feed so you should be able to catch most major sporting events. The service was prompt and pleasant. All in all the Swiss in is nice place to grab some beer, some pie and some fish prior to, during and/or after a little fishing on Shingle Lake, which is just a few feet away

I love everything about Lake George. Sleeping in a musty tent, getting sunburn, being eaten by mosquitos. Everything that is, except for the Swiss Inn. The service there is slow and the food is not good. Listen, I've been to plenty of diners and dives. Just because a place isn't in Midtown Manhattan or the Las Vegas strip doesn't mean it can't be good, or have good service, or be clean. Maybe I should go back to this place for drinks. I've heard it is a happening time. I will not however, go here for an omelet again.

Fantastic Blue Gill and Perch. Pizza very good. Super friendly staff. Service is a little slow, but it's a cool dive bar.

The Swiss Inn used to be awesome. Unfortunately, 90% of the wait staff is gone. There isn't enough help. The ladies working do a great job though. We left after 1.5 hours because we didn't get our pizza or any other food. Mark has run off his good staff, reduced staff to the point it's embarrassing and he just sits around while they are slammed. He doesn't help with food, tables or the bar. He just sits on his ass while the whole place is going into the gutter. I have a lot great memories there. Unfortunately, there won't be any more. I'm never going back. Just aweful.
