This ice cream parlor is a true ice cream paradise! They are located right in downtown Lake City. When we arrived, there was a line out the door. You know that is has to be good then. We stopped for ice cream, but they have hamburgers, fries, hotdogs and other foods there. The service is quick here. They had that long line squished in less than 5 minutes. I had the Michigan pot hole cone. It was chocolate ice cream with chips, chocolate swirl and mini peanut butter cups. My daughter got the O O Oreo, other daughter got soft serve chocolate with rainbow sprinkles and my wife go the caramel cone. All were deish!! It was so creamy and delightful on a warm sunny day. We will be back tomorrow for more!
Being a city boy for all of my life, coming to Lake City, MI has a lot of perks. There aren't many places in the city where you can just relax on a lake without a care in the world. One of the better perks though? It's all about the largest cone in the North - served to you by Tasty Treat! As you enter into the shop, you can appreciate the small town feel. It's definitely the type of place most families and kids stop by after dinner. So I stepped right up and asked for the Largest Cone in the North. After receiving a bemused smirk (for good reason!), they got to work on my cone. There was easily close to a half gallon of soft serve on that cone. King-Size Soft Serve ($6) Chocolate and Vanilla Twist After getting stared at by most of the patrons in the shop, I got to work on my cone. But after just a few bites, I had to put it in a huge soft-serve cup to prevent most of it from getting on the ground. I mean, it's pretty ridiculous when you compare the size of the actual cone and the amount of ice cream in the cup! And if you're wondering - no I wasn't able to finish it. But let me tell you, the leftovers (easily 2/3 of the monstrosity) were just as good the next morning! Mint Chocolate Chip The GF went with three scoops of mint chocolate chip ice cream, which was no small feat in itself. Rich, creamy, and decadent, this was a nice treat after a long day on the lake. So if you're ever Up North by Lake City, don't hesitate to stop by Tasty Treat. In fact, if you even consider going to the Dairy Queen nearby, the GF's mother will get you. It's all about supporting the mom and pop shops in this family!
My family stops here on our way home from every trip up north and we are never disappointed. Good service, tasty ice cream treats, and huge portions. Even our dog loved her doggie sundae today! Truly one of my favorite ice cream shops anywhere!

This BBQ joint is cute. The cooking is done inside a small camper trailer. Oh you can smell the food about a 1/2 mile away. The outside is the dining area. They do have a roof in case it rains. The food here is very good. We ate the pulled pork and ribs. Both were fantastic! The sides were tasty too. I had the beans and cornbread. They have a funny rule upon entering, open until 8 or 9 or until sold out. We want there on a Thursday night and they were sold out! So they were closed. But we did go back! Good stuff don't miss it.
I was a little disappointed here. The food was OK, prices were high for carry out type food.
Awesome and authentic. One of the coolest places to eat in Lake city, with not one low point on their menu. Equal to any Barbecue place I've been in Texas.

I stopped in here for an Ale one rainy, foggy evening. The bar area was packed with diners and folks enjoying some adult beverages. I'm always on the lookout for locally crafted Pale Ales and IPAs - and I found one I'd never sampled: Crooked Tree IPA (Dark Horse Brewing Co., Marshall, MI). Pretty good IPA, very hoppy (which for a hop head is a good thing!) I was surprised that the ABV was only 6% - it tasted stronger! Lots of good flavors: piney, resiny, citrus undertones - delicious! darkhorsebrewery.com/cro… I requested a chilled pint glass and got a really chilled pint glass! :-) I looked over the menu but was not hungry - lots of typical pub grub! There is also another room with pool tables. Service was good! I will be back for another visit next time I visit the area!
