I love HInkley's doughnuts!! It's no suprise they have such a great following. They have sellers all over the county. Out on us12 towards chelsea there's a little coffee 'shop' that sells their tasty treats, and gas stations all over town use them, and only them. Which helps, because, well, their hours are a bit odd. If you're awake at 5am and have time, they're worth a wait in line!

I have never actually been to Hinkley's, even having grown up in Jackson. Every year for lent, I convince an old high school friend to pick up an order of Paczki's and ship them to me...in California. No joke. They are the best I have ever had and would no doubt show up there if I am ever in town! It's hard to find the hours online but they are Wed - Sat 5:15 am - 1:00 pm.

no one makes better donuts than hinkley's. period. end of story. always fresh, always warm, always straight from the oven. the hours aren't convenient, the location is a little sketchy and the actual store looks a little run down... but oh the glorious donuts! this place is always packed and almost as good as the donuts themselves is the delicious smell that fills the air as soon as you hit the parking lot. i dare say that hinkley's is nearly worth a trip to jackson. go for the jelly filled or the glazed.

The best bakery in Jackson. Get there early or the line will be out the door.

3 huge donuts for $3.10 & incl tax? What a steal! I've always wanted to stop by here whenever we're out west for a race. Since we were already at the Jackson Hot Air Jubilee, it was perfect! They're known for their blueberry crescents (similar to Dutch Girl donuts but bigger) but taste better I think. The glaze wasn't overwhelming, the fried cake not dry, and every bit blueberry-ey! Also got the Walnut Fritter as it looked like a Cronut with its square shape (like Home Bakery's in Rochester Hills). I was assured it's not a cronut but def a crowd fave. Sure enough, it's the best yeasty donut I've ever had! I was expecting the donut to just be a walnut topping on a sugar glaze but I was pleasantly surprised by the cinnamon swirls throughout...just like an apple fritter! Each bite revealed layers of soft & stretchy dough that any cronut fan would enjoy! It's one big donut that's for sure! Lastly, we're huge custard filled donut fans. Custard was good, no jello pudding-box tasting and the yeasty dough exterior was not stale but rather "different" as my fiancé claimed. He felt it was heavy for a yeast dough but I liked it being that it's the same type of dough with the walnut fritter. Like cotton candy pull apart softness. Hinkley Bakery is also known for their donut holes. You probably won't see them out b/c they sell just like that...hot cakes! And $3 for a dz, be sure to buy some even if you don't want any! My friends bought some to share and it was like that first bite of Krispy Kreme donut right off the conveyor belt....delicious! Don't expect bathroom, tables or chairs. Its an old Mom & Pop shop with a few danish pastries. Weekends have Dominique Ansel style lines out the door but it moves fast when there's 4-5 women at the counter ready to take your order. Plenty of parking in their lot or on the nearby streets. I can't imagine living nearby as we parked down the block (we had a huge 15passenger van & trailer) and could still smell it! Talk about torture! Also, Cash only!

WOW!! What a tiny little neighborhood bakery that has a reputation that precedes itself! Always a line even as they get on towards noon and what decadent doughnuts that they have. Everything I got was very rich and filling. One doughnut at a time was more than enough to satisfy my sweet tooth. Delicious and an extremely nice staff!! Very helpful!! Next I'll know enough to order ahead of time.

One of Jacksons best kept secrets! I just visited them for the first time today.... I can't believe I never heard of this place before!

Simply the best doughnuts. Quirky hours and small town atmosphere are a bonus. Chocolate covered cream filled long johns. Trust me.

I recently moved to St. Louis and have yet to find a doughnut bakery like this one. One of the very few things I miss about Jackson. These doughnuts are to die for! However the hours are very strange. Closed on sun mon and tues which doesn't make much sense.. I'm sure lots of other families like mine would have loved to come here for doughnuts after Sunday church. It doesn't take away from their doughnuts though because when they are open, you just want to buy 3 dozen to last you :) YUMM!

Not really sure what I can add to all these amazing reviews? Ok... I am never shy about voicing my opinion :) Suzanne M. hit all the parts that add the unique features of this "Icon" Jackson establishment. But let me go a little farther... we live in South Carolina and come to visit family and well "Hinkley's" yep it was the second place I went after arriving in Jackson last week! I am pretty sure I could smell them frying when I hit the city limits... okay maybe that is an exaggeration but maybe not... These are some of the best donuts I have had in the world and I am not exaggerating about that! Thank you to my Mother inlaw and brother inlaw for introducing me to my new waste line and of course to Hinkley's!!!

This is hands down the best doughnuts in Jackson. Priced right, crunchy on the outside, softer than a down pillow on the inside.they are known for there chocolate crescent, the frosting taste very similar to a fudge. Word on the street is the owner has the secret recipe memorized, and he alone is the only person to know what it includes. I would recommend this place to all people who have a mouth with taste buds.

Tucked away on a side street outside of downtown Jackson, you'll find a gem of a bakery. You have to try to maneuver around the pot holes in the dirt parking lot and make it in during their odd hours, but it's worth it. You haven't had a real doughnut until you've experienced a Hinkley's doughnut. Take the Bavarian cream filled doughnut for instance....what is that called? A long john? In any case, if you get one from some place like Dunkin Donuts, you've got an okay sweet treat. It meets the standard requirements and if you're lucky, it hasn't been sitting on the shelf for too long. Hinkley's? Prepare to have your mind blown doughnut style. For starters it weighs around three pounds (okay, over exaggeration). The freshly deep fried that morning dough is slightly crispy on the outside, oozing the cream of your choice on the inside, and slathered with chocolate frosting on top. It is nothing short of amazing. If you're looking to get the morning off to a good start for a meeting, walk in with a box of Hinkley's, even if it's just their classic doughnut holes (that surely would give Krispy Kreme a run for their money), and you will no doubt have a much more excited group to work with. ...Unless of course, it's a weight watchers meeting you're attending.

The product they make is unbelievable. You will not find better doughnuts anywhere. It is in an older kind of run down neighborhood but being in the original building gives it that nostalgiac feel. Their hours are very limited and the lines can sometimes be long but it is well worth it if you can make it. Think of the Seinfeld episode "No soup for you!". Yeah it's kind of like that, hours and service aren't the best but the product they have is great and always in high demand! If you're in Jackson on an early morning and have some time to burn then stop in. You won't regret it. Their doughnuts are good enough that some restaurants and convenience stores in town buy their product and re-sell it. The next best thing in Jackson is European Bakery who has better hours but I prefer the doughnuts at Hinkleys.

The best around downtown! Cake doughnuts are the best of the best. Fresh!

So I agree with all the previous reviews. Excellent doughnuts, weird hours. The location isn't all that bad, its just typical non-downtown jackson. I thought I would post the hours( at least I hope that these are still the hours) since they are not typical. I would recommend getting there in the early morning, there are lines sometimes and little is left towards the end of the operational hours. Hours Wed-Sat 5:15 am - 1:00 p.m.

While I've never stepped foot in the actual establishment, I can say these are the best doughnuts I've ever had. My last boss used to bring them in to work on the occasional friday. Now that he has moved on to another company, I miss these treats. They are everything that a doughnut should be. I may have to plan a trip to Jackson specifically for these, it would be worth the 30-40 min drive, definitely worth it!

Very good!!! They always have a line leading into the building in the mornings - but it's worth the wait!

Hinkley;s bakery is the Best as owner operator with a big rig I've been to bakeries all over the country nothing even comes close to Hinkley bakery, its only couple blocks from Downtown Jackson but its well worth it to enjoy , the fresh donuts or pastries they sell..
