Pasty Heaven. Was kind of bummed they do not have the Cornish variation hot and ready. But the Traditional is still phenomenal. Some may feel the need to put ketchup on the pasty, but that is akin to ruining a steak with A1 or other similar condiment. These are outstanding just plain, but to each their own. Highly recommend this homey cafe for a real treat if you are in the Ironwood/Hurley/Bessemer area.

We stopped at Joe's this Sunday to get pasties for home. Two couples were ahead of us - each couple ordered ten frozen. We ordered twenty to bring home to Tampa. Forty pasties in the space of five minutes. That says something about how treasured Joe's is! Delicious pasties, friendly service. And, we learned that they ship in winter. If we can't make it back next year, we'll have to have our pasty fix shipped.

We stopped in on our way back from hiking. We were greeted by a very friendly woman who served us our pasty's. As we sat there many people from all over the surrounding area came in to get pasty's too (even from 5+ hours away). The food was delicious! If I am ever in the area I will be back!

We were in Ironwood, MI today to see the Giant Hiawatha statue when we found ourselves absolutely famished. We figured since we were in the UP we would get some pasties since it was such a cold damp day. I went straight to Yelp to find the best Pasty restaurant in Ironwood and I was led to Joe's Pasty Shop. When I first drove up to Joe's the first thing that came out of my mouth was "This is it?!?" Joe's is a tiny hole in the wall which I would happily classify in the 'Dive' category. If you have read my past reviews then you know how much I like Dives. When we walked in we were instantly smacked in the face with "diviness." I'm really pumped at this point. Then I glance up at the menu. They had maybe 5 or so options but the only ones ready at the time were the traditional pasties. This was of no consequence to me as I was hoping to snag a traditional pasty anyhow. The pasties were ready in about 3 minutes and we were out the door. I thought my Pasty was pretty good and I devoured it in no time as I hadn't eaten in about 5 hours. Would I say this is the best pasty I have ever had? No, certainly not but I'd put it in my top 10. I'd definitely go back if I'm in Ironwood again and the next time I'd like to try the cornish pasty. I give Joe's 4 Doubledays as the Dive atmosphere was superb but the Pasty was lacking something that sets it apart from others. It was just a solid version of a run of the mill beef, potato, and onion pasty.

Great pasties. Joe's is an old school restaurant where you can sit at the counter on bar chairs. If you are looking for a UP pastie eh, go to Joe's. We love their jalapeño pasties but bring your own franks red hot for some extra kick. They also have frozen pasties to bring home.

The best pasties are found at Joe's. Forget the other places! I'm partial to the Cornish variety with rutabaga and theirs is absolutely fabulous! Sure you can get deals at other places and the pasties are dirt cheap - but they're just not as delicious as Joe's - you get what you pay for.

After a rainy morning exploring our old haunts in Ironwood, Michigan, my mom and I figured it was time for lunch, and a warm lunch at that. My mom suggested pasties and I remembered seeing Joe' s sign on my last visit so we stopped in. There are a few booths as well as counter service. We placed our order for two traditional pasties (the other varieties are frozen and available for purchase to go), and 3 minutes later we had our lunch. The meat, potato, and onion mix was flavorful and the crust was amazing. The server was incredibly friendly and treated every customer like family. We left spending $11.50 on two pasties and two sodas. We learned during our visit that Joe's is the last true pasty shop left in town, and I was genuinely pleased to have supported this local business.

I haven't been a big pasty guy until now. Joe's has changed my mind. Joe delivered 37 hot pasties to our group's cross country ski outing. They were delicious. Everyone else loved them too. A perfect lunch for a cold winter day.
