Needed a quick bite to eat, got a slice of the meat lovers. Fantastic flavor, crust was excellent. Next time I will allow more time and order a fresh pie.. Everything tasted pretty fresh, especially for a pizza that was already made and being sold for slices
Recently moved to Hudsonville, and we find ourselves ordering from DJ's on a weekly basis. Definitely much better than any of the chain pizza places in town.
I only received delivery from DJ's once and it was the night I moved to Hudsonville from Chicago. It was the only option I could quickly find online and I ordered a Chicago Deep Dish pizza with mushroom, onion and green pepper. When the pizza arrived, it wasn't completely cooked all the way - but it wasn't bad, just not the best. The flavoring was a little bitter but again, not the worst. Just not someplace I would choose to go if there are other pizza establishments in town. The person I spoke with on the phone when ordering did mention that he was short staffed that evening so that could have been the reason for the lack luster pizza. They did deliver quickly.

My wife and I enjoyed a date night and she often expressed that their are not enough restaurants that have liver and onions on the menu. So I had heard through an acquaintance that this had what I was looking for. We walked in on a Saturday around 5pm and were seated right away. When we left about an hour later the wait looked to be a half hour. The lighting was a bit dark but it might be partially due to the decor because there were plenty of windows. I had the Bistro steak. The cut resembled a sizzler and was prepared medium. The steak itself was bland, it could use some spice, a rub, something. I had to use A1 to eat it, which to me is a sign that it was lacking in taste. I might try a different cut next time to see if it was an isolated incident or I am just to accustomed to my own homemade grilling. My wife had the liver and onions and enjoyed it thoroughly. She mentioned that she hadn't had this meal for a very long time and would be up for having it again. She asked for the recommended preparation for the meat so it wouldn't be tough. My wife often remarks how the smell of liver is overpowering and I could not tell after it was cooked. I also didn't expect it to look so much like a steak. I hadn't ever seen liver cooked, so I didn't know what to expect. Overall, the service was good. Drinks filled without asking, which is an important part of service for me. While I didn't enjoy my meal as much, seeing my wife enjoy a meal is of more importance. We will visit again.
On walking in to the Hudsonville Grille my first impression was that it is rather dark. It was especially obvious as it was a sunny afternoon when we went there. The server was prompt to attend to our drink requests and friendly. Once the food order was placed and received in good time the portions were generous on the plates. Two of us ordered salads and one a sandwich. Everything was done well and was tasty to eat. No complaints on the quality. When the server was asked about a missing item that had been forgotten it did take time to finally get it. But that was likely due to a lack of planning in the kitchen.
Solid place for breakfast. Enjoyed a Southwestern omelette today (made with four eggs) and sub'd out the bacon for turkey sausage. Also paid the up charge to do the hash browns over the toast. I like the turkey sausage much better than the pork links. They also have very good Benedict options here. Dinner is ok, but much better for breakfast. Insider tip: they have a frequent diner rewards program. After you sign up, give your phone number when you pay.

This is one of my favorite Chinese food places. Good food. Good prices. Generous portions.
Large portions of MSG-free Chinese takeout? Yes please! Food is on par for most similar joints, I love their egg drop soup and crab rangoons. Bummer is they changed their hot and sour chicken from a tempura battered chicken to a frozen in a bag chicken chunks at some point before we ate their the last time.
Typical Chinese joint. I question the cleanliness though. The walls are dusty, and there is painters tape up that had been there for I swear 2 years. Granted I haven't been in for a while (my husband always picks it up) but it's probably still up.

Nice place to meet friends for coffee and a muffin. I don't do muffins but the wife was happy.
Nice local coffee house with good breakfast burrito made with fresh ingredients. Also close to Hudsonville District Courthouse, and perfect for an attorney waiting for next court hearing or to have a quiet time before court for catching up on news and mail. Wifi available and works well. Staff very friendly, but won't pester you if obviously trying to read something while at one of the many quiet tables available.
Very nice coffeehouse. Comfortable seating options, from couches to a variety of tables and chairs. Even though quite busy with the morning rush and again at noon for lunch; the stafff was very pleasant, efficient and informative. I enjoyed a Raspberry white truffle mocha and breakfast burrito to start the day. Both were excellent. Regarding the meal, a comfortable sized portion, the tomato-basil wrap was a quite nice touch to the 'token' breakfast burrito. They seem to be popular as I was a bit unsure when to jump in and grab mine. Once I had my first bite, I really understood the dirty look I received when I accidentally jumped in too early... Lunch was busy as well. But they lost a star here - my Turkey Cran-Delight sandwich didn't delight. The cranberry-orange relish must have been quite old as it was runny and lacked flavor. The turkey was the equivalent to Oscar Meyer, maybe they ran out and just hit the local grocery store. Was a great place to visit and work for half a day.

Fast service and friendly atmosphere. I usually stop during lunch for the buffet. Good food at reasonable prices.
This place is incredible! I've been going here for 10+ years! It's reasonably priced and the food is SO GREAT! It's not like other chinese food that tastes rubbery. I'm really picky about chinese food and this chinese food is so good!
One of the best Chinese buffets out there. I routinely drive 30 minutes each way just to eat there, and I've been doing this for years. I've never actually ordered any of their menu options, as I always opt for the buffet. They have it during lunch and dinner times, and they shut it down for a few hours in the middle of the day. I've found that the best time to get there is between 11am-11:30am, to get everything fresh out of the kitchen all at the same time. :) They're usually very good about keeping the trays re-filled, however. They don't have as many options as some of the other buffets out there, but what they do have is excellent.

We love Vitale's in Hudsonville. The variety on the menu is great. We've enjoyed everything we've tried. Everytime we've been in the service has been very friendly. I think the only negative we've ever had was when we were there with friends and about 2 minutes after we got our salads our entrees arrived. Yes - super fast service is great but I think in that moment it was a little too fast. Haven't tried the attached pizza place - but I'm going to guess that it's also very good.
We went here on a Saturday night and arrived right at 12am because on here it said they were open until 1 am. The door said 2 am , we walked in and they said they were closed. They said sorry we have not updated our door. I stated online it said 1 am, they acted confused and were like oh well. Hopefully we make it back during their open hours, their service is better then and they update the actual business hours online and on their door.
The perfect place to enjoy friends over great food and fabulous service! This is a weekly fav for us -- I can't say enough - the food is always delish and the service -- superb! We LOVE Vitale 's . They never disappoint ! See you soon!

Okay this is a "Pizza Buffet" so if you go in expecting that you wont be disappointed. The pizza is good, as is the salad bar. The Salad bar could use some better lettuce, and a very more toppings, to choose from. They pizzas were all fresh and kept well stocked with new ones so you never had to grab a slice that had been sitting there for to long. The best thing on the "buffet line" is the fried chicken. It was great, I was not expecting that at a Pizza Buffett.
Hudsonville location was a dive. Food was less than expected. A frozen pizza would have been better.
This is a 4* star review with a caveat. The food is solid. The pizza better than average but the chicken shines. It's probably the best fried chicken in West Michigan. It gets terribly busy I'm the evenings for dinner. Get there early or wait in line. It's a great for lunch takeout though. The prices are reasonable and you get plenty of food.

Why is there a motorcycle in a display case in the middle of the restaurant? I don't get it. It's a McDonald's. They invented the restaurant you take for granted as having the exact same food no matter where you go. It's hard for them to stand out at anything.

Past Times Diner

3170 Chicago Drive
Hudsonville, 49426
Reviews:
This place is a very American, very small town diner. What else would it be, being located in Hudsonville? My roommate and I used to live in Michigan's Salad Bowl, home of farmers and homophobes. Okay, I'll stop generalizing, but this is a VERY conservative area. It was TINY inside, minimal decorations, mostly old-timey Hudsonville themed. The food was standard breakfast fare. The one thing that makes Times Past Diner stand out for me (and earns it the third star) is that they make their own bread, and have stellar "homemade toast" in many varieties, even cinnamon. It was very tender Texas toast style bread, and very good. Times Past Diner IS clinging to the past because they ACTUALLY still take personal checks (gasp)! I paid with one just because I figured I'd never get the chance again. So yes, if you're in the area and jonesing for breakfast, give this place a try. Be ready for stares from locals because you aren't one of them, but they die down after a few minutes and the food is decent. They only take cash or check, so come prepared.
