Fat Boy's is kinda "meh" to me. They are friendly, but slightly disorganized. The Pizza is the greasiest mess of slop I've ever had the pleasure to eat, though. If it weren't one of the most convenient places to go in Holt, I'd probably not come here. The breadsticks are soggy with oil and are probably best left to those with an appetite for pain. But don't get me wrong - it is tasty as all get out! It's just not the most appetizing looking thing I've eve seen, and makes you feel like scheduling a liposuction after your first slice of pizza. Come here once and decided if you can handle the grease. If you can, it will be deliciousness delivered fresh and hot.
Fat Boys Pizza is the best in Holt, but that sadly doesn't mean it's the best in the area. It's a solid bet for a quick eat, especially if it's late at night, but the pizza often comes with the cheese extra browned on the top (which hey, maybe you're into) or a patina of grease. I do, however, highly recommend that you pick up their pizza dough (for less than $2 a ball) and make your own pizza with it; it tastes delicious.
Best pizza in Holt...super fast delivery...good prices

Great local place. Very friendly staff. While this is clearly a "Townie's Bar" outsiders are welcome. The bartender is very attentive to an empty glass.

Ate here for the first time tonight. The food was really good. They either brought in someone who really knew BBQ or put in some serious effort to train their staff. The sauces are outstanding. With six at the table there will definitely be something that everyone will like. My personal favorites were the Texas Pit, Georgia Mustard and the Wilbur's Revenge. The revenge is a habanero pepper based sauce with great heat and flavor. My only complaint would be the table we got. We were the last seat before the kitchen and it was a two top. The table was just too small to accommodate the food and drinks we ordered. I've got to say that I'm a little bit surprised by the reviews rating this place so low. You can't fairly judge a place a week after it opens. You have to give the staff a couple of months to iron out the kinks. To the person with the kid who has the peanut allergy; a one star because they won't completely sanitize the kitchen for your dining experience makes you a giant dou*h. To be honest, you're probably being lied to at other restaurants. Just sayin'. Good job Famous Dave's, we'll be back.
We were the only customers upon arrival @ 4:15 pm on a Monday....Yet it took 90 minutes to eat and pay for the check! Five mins into being seated, larger party (6) arrived and seated in our area. The young girl who was our server literally had the ONLY customers in the place! Sadly she wasn't very quick and wasn't very good at juggling 2 tables. Order went in quick and came out just as fast......but we had to ask for all the extras, which just annoys me. We waited forever for refills, butter, check, To Go boxes and to pay. While seeing the MGR standing around chatting with a pretty girl.....I flagged him over and had to ask for our check and boxes. He did bring them to us, after a bit, and then the bill and payment just sat there.....so I asked another girl to ring up my bill and she just grabbed my credit card & gave it to the waitress BUT CALLED back to me that she couldn't. So off went my Credit Card for some time. While waiting, I looked over to the To Go order area & a man waited while staff, once again were all huddled together, chatting. He finally had to flag someone down to get help. As people started to walk in the absence of waitstaff made people wander around looking for help. I would really hate to be in there when it was actually busy. I counted 5 waitress & 1 MGR. Yet a line was forming and only 8 seated customers! Seems to me that it was more of a social hour for staff then time to feed hungry guests. It's not like this place can afford to turn away customers. I drive by there often and the parking lot isn't very full during the week. They really need to step up their game and make the customers a priority.......or they won't have jobs.
First time experience at Famous Dave's. Disappointed. I ordered the burnt ends and ribs with coleslaw and potato salad. I didn't like any of it. The burnt ends had a funny aftertaste, the ribs were dry, potato salad was bland and the coleslaw was only OK. The kids ordered the chicken tenders. They thought they were OK but they were missing something. The waitress was good, she gave us to go cups when we asked for refills. Overall, we won't be returning. We will be sticking with our favorite BBQ place in Lansing, MEAT.

This one is a tough one for me because I have been here a couple times but there is a lot on the menu that I have not tried that might sway me higher. First dilemma...do I rate it as "a bar" or "a restaurant". It is basically a good sized "Sports Bar" with food. As a sports bar...I would give it a 4+ It is big, lots of TVs, great bar selection, craft beers....would be a great place to stop after work for drinks/apps or to watch a game As a "restaurant"??? Eh....I gave it a 3 and based on my two visits for lunch I would be rounding up as I would say 2.5 really. But then...I have not tried their pizzas or several other things that I read are good so I am giving them the benefit of the doubt. What I DID try was their brisket. I have had it as a Sandwich and a entree. To be fair, I have eaten brisket in Brisket Mecca (Texas) at several top places and also had good brisket in OH (See my review of City Limit BBQ) At Buddies...pretty disappointed. The sandwich was better as it came on great bread and with the toppings adding some flavor it was ok. And the french fries that came with it were good. As a entree....well there the meat has to stand on it's own....and it fell flat. I got several slices and I basically could not make out any "smoke" flavor...or seasoning.... all I tasted was dry beef. Instead of a BBQ sauce it came with a sauce on the side that was a red wine/onion/mushroom reduction that had great ambition but was bland. I think it needed salt. And maybe some pepper. All I know is it really lacked something. My sides (you get two with an entree) were a good but nothing special. Chicken Noodle Soup was pretty darn good and wild rice pilaf, you can only do so much with that but it was good as far as rice pilaf goes.. (I was good and avoided their really good fries this time) I keep thinking other stuff must be better than the brisket and that lead me to give them a 3 instead of a 2. I will have to try their pizza and some of the chicken dishes. Maybe even one of the Mexican dishes . Lots of things I have not tried. But if it was looking for a sports bar in the Mason/Holt area without driving up to Lansing this is by far the best.
First: MEGA points for having NTN Buzztime Trivia!! Pretty decent bar. Food is better than most Lansing bar food, but still bar food. For example the French Dip was an ok amount meat and cheese on a fantastic roll, but the Au Jus was that GFS/Cysco soy sauce toilet water stuff. The battered mushrooms were perfectly done. If I lived closer I could see coming here often for some dinner and trivia.
I've eaten there twice, and both times did not disappoint. On my second trip there I had the Cheeseburger Fries. Let me tell you they were amazing! I dream about them at night. I will not hesitate to drive the three hours it takes to get there just for those fries. Yummy!

Clean bathrooms and clean eating area. Patient (I brought my 2 & 4 year old to lunch) and friendly wait staff. Food was better than most family-style restaurants (I ordered a Grilled Swiss Cheese on Rye) and fruit on the side was fresh. Average prices. *they no longer serve breakfast, although it indicates on their web site that they do!

Typical subway - no point in commenting on the food because, well, we've all eaten at Subway and they're all pretty much identical. This particular one has a couple of good staff members who are really enthusiastic and friendly. Others, however, are apathetic teens who act as though you are inconveniencing them by wanting to get a sandwich. Some of the "sandwich artists" are SUPER messy when preparing your food. Their work area has condiments and random pickles globbed everywhere. You'd think they could wipe it off in between sandwiches. I hate nothing more than having a big smear of mayo or ranch (that I didn't order) all over my sandwich because they can't be bothered to clean up their slop a little bit.
