Finally managed to go here for dinner about a week ago and I have to say I was under whelmed. We were there at about 8pm on Friday evening the place was fairly empty and they had entertainment. First of all the two piece group they had was way too loud as the place was 90% empty, but they were at full volume as if it was packed. They were alright, but after a few minutes of not being able to talk with the others at the table I had had enough of them. The service was good, however the menu was kind of fell flat for me. I ordered one of the burgers which was expensive and frankly not all that good. If you are paying $14 for a bacon cheese burger it had better be at least really good. This one wasn't. The others who were with me all felt the same about their choices also. A couple of them had the French Onion soup and both said that it was too salty and lacking in the flavor department. It was high end prices for not much better the standard bar fare quality. I'll probably try it once more, but I'm not expecting that I'll be any more impressed next time.

Atmosphere seemed great, but apparently medium rare means cook til it's a hockey puck and the meat on the nachos was ridiculously bland.

I have passed this place several times and it looks great from the road. Inside matched the outside - it reminded me of being in a lodge up north. It was nice. They have a nice bar and several TV's. The fireplace in the corner is very nice and cozy as well. Service here was okay. Drink refills were pretty lax and the waitress didn't check on us at all. She seemed busy setting up the tables for the next day. Food was just okay as well. Nothing over the top and the prices were a little more steep than I am used to. The potatoes were salty (I ordered mine without potatoes and still got them - it looks like the chef didn't know how to plate it without putting mashed potatoes on the plate). The vegetables that were included we a mix of broccoli stems, cauliflower and carrots. I would have liked to have broccoli crowns instead of the stems, but maybe that's how people like their veggies in this restaurant. I would probably come here again to enjoy the bar and watch a game... maybe order an appetizer. That's about it.

We have been here a few times and have had better than our experience here tonight, Service was good and our guests who had never been there were very happy with their orders. I am sure that we will return in the future for a special occasion as we surely can not afford to eat here often.....

Had dinner and drinks here a couple Friday nights ago with friends. We had a 7:30 reservation, arrived promptly and waited 15 mins for our table. There were many people milling around waiting to be seated. We ordered a variety of entrees, I had the cranberry stuffed chicken special. It tasted like a holiday dish, actually much like a Thanksgiving meal, with stuffing and broccoli on the side. Starter was salad of choice, I had the Caesar and it was pretty good. My husband had a hamburger which arrived with well cooked (burnt) fries and a bowl of French onion soup as an appetizer. The broth was not well seasoned, it lacked flavor and the cheese was meager to say the least. The live music was great, there was a guy playing a guitar and singing along with him was a lady, they were were quite musical. Service was extremely slow, our waitress forgot things that were requested, and took at least 15 minutes to take our order. The food was not up to par, we would never return. It was also expensive for the quality received. Entrees were about $20. Arrived at 7:20 left at 9:40 pm.

Good beer selection, terrible service. Arrived at bar 6:30PM on a Friday evening. The place was hoppin. Waited 10 minutes to get served by bartender named Johnathan. Thought I'd order dinner while at the bar. Despite four valiant attempts to get bartenders attention I finally succeeded at 7:10. Bartender said "I'm real busy right now" So instead of ordering another beer and dinner I just asked for my check. No tip for you Johnathan. Went down the road to the Springfield Inn, got a GREAT burger, two more beers and tipped the waitress $12. Attention River Rock Management: tell your bartenders to ask for help---and give it to them when they are overwhelmed.

First visit to RR and my wife and I were pleasantly surprised. Great food with a nice up north atmosphere. Live entertainment was just starting up as we finished on Friday night. The service at the bar was great. We will definitely be back.

Bad service and poor quality food. Can't seem to get their act together and keep trying to be like bottoms up, Which is where the owner came from. I can't say that this place is a recommend. Very pricy for food that shouldn't be.

Great service, cool outdoor seating. Very scenic, make you feel like you're out in the country. Good food too.

This place is new so me and hubby decided to check it out. It Seems like they don't know what they want to be...is it a fine dining restaurant, a sports bar or a lodge. The food was ok. Menu said they had St. Louis style ribs but when my food came they were baby back. And they use commercial bbq sauce. My hubby got the pork chop dinner. And yes for $17, he got one pork chop and some rice and veg. For the amount of money spent $50 for two dinners, two domestic beer and an app. The price was ok. Ive had better for at the bar down the road. Service was excellent, food was just OK. We live close and we won't go back.

We decided to take a cruise to Holly on a Friday night and I heard that this place was now open for business so we stopped in. It's HUGE inside. It's almost too big really. We sat at the bar and the bartender was most fabulous. Very professional and very friendly. He gave me the beer menu and I saw Founders was being advertised there but it's no longer. The bartender explained that they are having a hard time getting craft beer vendors to come out their way. They have been trying to get Short's out there on numerous occasions but to no avail. Such a bummer but he said apparently Holly is not an up and coming place for craft beer, so I opted for a Sam Adams Cherry Wheat. The hubs and I decided to split a burger and an appetizer. Calamari was the app-very tender and not rubberband chewy, which I hate. The batter was a bit different than I'm used to. I like it spicy and this was a light batter and it came with this thai chili flavored dip. I prefer marinara myself, but it was still good. The burger was huge and delicious, big enough for us to split and we were both full. It came with all of the fixings, plus fries, and on a pretzel roll..BONUS!! P.S. I hope you LOVE country music because that was all that was blaring out of the speakers.

I ordered the fish and chips. Fish was ok but the fries were lukewarm and soggy. Probably nuked. The bartender, although pleasant seemed to be in the weeds with seven people at the bar. He was running service bar as well. First time here and not terribly inpressed.

I took a client here for lunch. The food was solid and I would be comfortable taking clients there again. I thought it would actually be better for a date. I especially enjoyed the sweet potato fries. They were spicy sweet which is my favorite combination.

Had lunch there. My wife's soup was cold and it took a long time to warm it up. The waitress was really nice and friendly, but was too busy. Forgot a few things and everything took very long. They need definitely more help or more efficient ways of working. Burgers come only with pretzel buns. Some people love them, some people hate them. Would be good to offer regular buns as an option. The food tasted very good!

We went for lunch near opening time. Service was immediate and friendly. I had simple nachos, and was impressed how fresh and crisp all the ingredients were. My wife had the fish sandwich was was excellent too. The waitress was attentive to our needs and kept our drinks refilled promptly.

I tried River Rock again last pm as a take out. The phone person was nice, the order was on time and correct and very tasty (the white fish). I think things are starting to come together at The River Rock Bar & Grill. Keep it up.

The indoor seating area is very noisy, with high ceilings and sports on TV, so be aware. Since we wanted to converse in a normal tone of voice and it was a nice night, we opted to sit out back. This area is very nice, with a unique fireplace right in the center of the seating area. Our group ordered several appetizers: crab cakes and mozzarella sticks. Both were very good, in fact the crab cakes were excellent, as good as anything I've had on the East coast. For our main courses, we ordered Michigan perch, Cajun salmon, and two orders of fish and chips. The perch and salmon were great. The garlic mashed potatoes were seasoned just right and the green beans were terrific. The perch was done just right also, with a small bowl of lemon caper dipping sauce. The salmon was given a thumbs up by one of the other diners in our party. The fish and chips get a thumbs down. Described on the menu as "lightly breaded", they are anything but. The breading is so thick it's like a pancake wrapped around the fish. Once you gnaw your way through this blanket of batter and finally get to the fish, you will be disappointed. Greasy, greasy, greasy. The fries were just as bad, practically squirting grease when bitten. Service that night was spotty: we got our appetizers, but had no table service, so had to get our server's attention so we could begin our meals. Then we were brought our credit card slips, but neither one of us were given a pen to sign with, so again we got our server's attention so we could pay for our meals. Our server was very apologetic and not rude in any way, she just seemed like she was a bit frazzled and overworked. I would recommend this restaurant with two caveats: don't be in a hurry, and don't order fish and chips.

The food was absolutely delicious. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich on a pretzel bun. The bun was perfect and the pulled pork was tender and very flavorful. The French fries were some of the best I've ever had. Seasoned very well. The atmosphere is great. Spacious but cozy, with a fireplace and wooden ceilings, bar and tvs separated from the family seating. Overall wonderful experience. I would definitely go back!

Had fried pickles, amazing wasabi ranch sauce. Chicken Marsala and chicken tortilini all good. Service was perfect, bar is a bit loud even for mid afternoon. I'd come back if in the area.

We went there for dinner on Dec 23ed, Power was out in our area so the restaurant was packed, You could tell they were short on staff, The only thing that saved that place was there Manager , He sat us, took our orders , served us, ,was bussing and setting tables. I'm in the business and River Rock is lucky to have a Manager that good, and the food was good also ,Thanks to him ill be back

Nice interior, happy to have a newer restaurant in the Holly area. The food is weak, the menu is weak.

Brought a couple of friends for burger's, which we have had before and loved. One of these friends did not want to go there because of a previous bad experience. We prodded her into trying it again telling her that the place was new then and they have worked out all the kinks and its a better place now. So we all ordered our burgers and waited...and waited. Finally they brought our food...well some of it, of course my friend had to wait a little longer. I ordered the bleu cheese burger medium, there was barely any cheese on it and when I complained was offered a side of bleu cheese, the burger was also over cooked but after the wait I didn't send it back...I was hungry. So after a bit more waiting the waitress brought my friends burger...it was a kiddy burger or a slider, when we asked the waitress if it looked right to her she answered no but she was told to bring it out anyway. So did they think we wouldn't notice or that she would be hungry enough not to complain? Its an expensive place to eat, but if they don't care about their customers enough, they won't last long, and that's a shame because we really need a good place to eat and hang out around here.
