I had the fettuccine alfredo and it was really good. My only complaint is the small portion size of the meals. My meal cost $12.99 but I added an extra $2.00 to add chicken. I expected to have a decent size portion to share with my 1 year old for that price but was disappointed when they set the bowl in front of me.

Definitely a great place to grab food if you're in Hastings. Never thought I'd be raving about a little local restaurant in this somewhat unknown town..but it was great! My friend and I split a bottle of Pinot Noir. I had some great pasta dish - eggplant parm with linguine. She had a gluten-free options. Her son had the mac & cheese. It was high quality food, freshly made, and big servings. The salads came before the meal and they were good lettuce (not just the cheap iceberg). Service was warm and friendly. We definitely were noticed as being "out-of-towners" but enjoyed every bit of this experience. Definitely go here if you're in Hastings!

We have lived in the Hastings area for a year now and this is our favorite restaurant in town. The food is always excellent. Love the soups as they are made with fresh ingredients and changes with the season. Great lunch specials as well. This is a place you don't want to miss. Our favorite waitress is Jessica.

Purchased a Groupon for this restaurant several months ago and finally got the chance to use it Saturday night. The wine list was fairly large and we enjoyed a bottle of red wine at the bar while waiting for our table. We arrived without a reservation on Saturday night but they were able to accommodate the two of us within 15 minutes. We ordered the crab and feta dip which was served in a bread bowl. (It's a lot of bread.) Our entree's were well portioned and tasty. The manicotti was boiling hot and the fish special was very good. We were treated to live music from the local High School music teacher's band. They were quite good and not too loud to drown out the conversation. The dining area was busy and the tables are a bit close together, it is difficult for the wait staff to deliver food in some areas. It's going to be a "go to" place to meet friends between Kalamazoo, Lansing and Grand Rapids.

We enjoyed every aspect of this fine establishment. The lighting and atmosphere were spot on, the appetizer was excellent, and the main course was likewise excellent and well worth the money. The price is right and the service is smart and prompt. We will definitely return, many times.

I live in Hastings and work in Detroit. I have found few places in Metro Detroit that compare. There are good Italian restaurants in Detroit, but the food is not as fresh and is much more expensive. The food here is fresh and always appealing. One of my favorite restaurants anywhere. Had pan seared scallops with pear butter last night. It was the best scallop dish I have had in a very long time.

Drove in to Hastings (38 miles from lansing) for our first anniversary so maybe my expectations were a bit high but my first impression wasn't super great. The wait staff was very friendly but seemed a little frazzled even though there were only about four tables occupied. There is no house music playing so it's strangely quiet, except for the door bell frequently sounding off and Hendrix blaring from the kitchen. My husband requested music and the server apologized several times that they were working on getting Pandora to work. They eventually got it going so that was good. The decor is very cool! Exposed brick walls and dark wood bar is very contemporary and chic! The bar area is beautiful and inviting! If I lived in town I would want to frequent this bar for an occasional after work drink. Server was very friendly, seemed knowledgeable. That is until we ordered a bottle of wine. The bottle came to our table ALREADY OPEN, yes, you read it right. This is a major pet peeve of mine and I had half a mind to send it back and ask them to bring us an unopened bottle. If she cannot open it at the table at least let us know and have the bartender open it within view of us. Do they not know this is not okay?? We ordered the bruschetta for an appetizer! The flavor was delicious (even though I got two olive pits). It came out in a soup bowl with pieces of toast. You had to assemble it yourself which is unusual but the flavor made up for it. Very good. We each got soup (carrot bisque and spicy sausage). The flavor was very good. We both ordered steak dishes. He ordered the "Grille" ribeye from the menu and it was cooked perfectly although it was a thin. In fact, the thinnest ribeye I've ever seen. I have to give the chef props for cooking a steak that thin perfectly as that is hard to do! I ordered the Gorgonzola Manzo Linguini. It was very rich but very good! Again, the steak was prepared perfectly and flavor was great. I would order that again and my husband said he would order either of these entrees again. I'm only giving it 4 stars because of the wine incident. It is just a major pet peeve. I would return here again for sure! I just wish it was closer to home because it would be a great place to go have a glass of wine at the bar after a hard work week. So the moral of the story is don't always trust your first impressions! I would definitely return!

I am in Hastings for a bird watching festival. A bunch of borders had dinner last night at the Seasonal Grill. Everything was perfect! The pork loin with grilled asparagus was simply amazing. Our waitress was great and the prices are very reasonable. I totally recommend this restaurant.

highly recommend. especially for manicotti night....my mother and I enjoyed a nice meal here.....love the bar that intersects the 2 dining rooms. They also have a private room. Only complaint would be server with heavy feet tromping around on hardwood floors. Pretty cool to show my 70 year old mother how to use her credit card on an i-touch too! For a small town this place is great ....and you support local (as opposed to stupid applebees or mcdonalds)

This restaurant offers a great selection of Michigan beers on tap. They have a nice selection of food with a menu that changes with the seasons. The staff is always friendly, they can be a little slow at times but for the most part are very attentive. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a nice evening out.

How in the world am I the first person to review this? Wow! Seasonal Grill has been in Hastings for awhile now, and I've had the opportunity to eat there several times. I've seen a few things change over time (like the bread brought to the table), but it's a pretty solid, consistent place to go. Chances are if you are eating there, you'll see the owner around the place in his chef jacket. Great guy, very personable and will take the time to visit tables and ask how things are. I've never ordered "off menu", but I've seen a few people do it and he comes by to make sure they got exactly what they were looking for. This past Monday we went and I ordered the manicotti, which was on special for $6.99. I'm kind of cheap, so the idea of paying $15-$20 for a pasta, especially meatless pasta, is just not happening. So when I saw it rock bottom priced as a special, I gave it a try. The portion size was just right and it still came with a cup of soup. Everything was amazing, and chances are I would order it again, breaking my rule of paying more for meatless pasta even! For a Monday night they had a good 10 tables or so filled up, which is downright amazing for Hastings, and a nice steady flow of customers just coming in for a drink at the bar. It's nice to see people supporting the local instead of chain in town and I encourage everyone I know to give Seasonal Grill a try for your random night out dinner or for a special occasion. The menu more than accomodates both in selection and pricing.

New to town and this is right across the street from my apartment. So I want this to blow my socks off and be my go-to home away from home. But after several trips, I can't quite get there. It's okay but not blowing my socks off. Now the soup I had the other night was fantastic...but followed up with a dried out slab of salmon...which I sent back and asked for seconds on the soup instead. Wine selection is very nice and all available by the glass. Service very good and great atmosphere.

Service was slow which is not unusual for this restaurant. Peach moscato chicken was delicious but the green beans had bad spots in them. Not acceptable and shocking given the quality of the rest of the food.

Great place to eat! Food is good and reasonably priced. Great atmosphere, it is not one of those really loud places. If you are looking for a good place to go and eat drink and hear your conversation. I recommend you come here.

Awesome atmosphere and staff! Food best in Michigan with its own spark. Try the Osso Bucco! Delicious!

The best salad I have ever had at any restaurant. I have been to hundreds of fine dining establishments on three continents. Who would have thought hastings Michigan. Not me. But it was that good. I wish I had taken a picture but I did not want to spoil the moment. The pesto salmon was very good. Then I ate half of the girl I went with sirloin and it was fantastic. Bread and oil was a nice unexpected touch. Salmon could have been grilled a touch more but maybe I just expected the world after the best salad of all time. Great wait staff. A truly wonderful meal. Sirloin better than most places filet. Very tender. wish I could rate this place 6 stars.

5 stars on the Hastings Scale. Very good food, reasonable prices, nice atmosphere with occasional live music. Upscale atmosphere, but you are comfortable in shorts and a t-shirt. Best food in Barry County for sure

Nice place, the food had a nice presentation. Table was a little small for four adults. The fish was great and was easily their speciality. The pork was a little dry, but still good. The steak was tasty, but pricey. I'll go back again, but not as a date night.

Great atmosphere, wonderful for celebration event or just nice night out. Enjoyed the food. Waitress was knowledgeable and outgoing. We will definitely come back the next time we are in town.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
