We have eaten here a lot and have loved it each time. The food is always good. The service is always top notch, and the prices are fair for what you get. We will eat again for sure here.

We had been looking forward to trying this place for a while and finally got around to bringing our family over to try it. However, the manager was incredibly rude to us upon our arrival and we didn't stay long enough to order, let alone eat. We requested a 6-top for our family of four as we have a toddler who needs a high chair & we also have a wheelchair. Even though the restaurant was nearly empty, when we asked the manager for a 6-top, she scoffed at us and said, "Oh no, we can't do that!!" She promptly directed us to a cramped 4-top which was incredibly tight and was absolutely not going to work. Even though we asked again and requested some special consideration since the place was nearly empty and we had a toddler and family member with a physical disability, she made it clear that we were getting no consideration whatsoever. After trying to accept our lot and sitting uncomfortably for a few minutes, we decided that eating at this restaurant was a choice that we were not going to make after being treated so rudely. Needless to say, it won't be a place we ever choose to come back to again.

One word could describe this restaurant - overrated. The ambiance is very nice, but the price of the food does not match the quality. Customer service is usually really good, sometimes it takes a while to get the food. But again, for what the the dinners cost, I wish the quality of the food was better.

Mediocre at best. Better than some of the options in town. Pretty sure the wet burrito sauce doubles as the spaghetti sauce. Weirdest spaghetti ever. Food came out cold. Mashed potatoes are super dry. Chicken was rubbery- obviously frozen. If you have no other option than the sand castle go here, but you're better off at McDonald's.

Food was fabulous. The service was quick and great. We ordered appetizers before our food, we barely touched our entrees. The onion rings, fried mushrooms & fried picked were delicious. We had smelt which was good, & steak & lobster & that was obv good too. Def check this place out. Cool decor and very busy which is a good thing ;) They serve booze and have a bar in the back. Bathrooms were clean!

Good old hearty American food here at the Open Hearth. It's about a 10 minute drive from the Silver Lake State Park where we were camping and decided to stop in here for dinner. They have a nice selection of steak and chicken as well as a couple Mexican dishes. I wasn't particularly fond of the layout of the main room as it was just one big, open room with booths along a couple sides and tables in the middle. It felt like something was missing in that regard... but the food was tasty and our party of 6 people were all happy with our meals. Service was also good even though they were almost completely full of patrons. If you're driving in from Silver Lake don't get fooled and turn onto Polk Road right before the actual restaurant entry point on 56th Avenue. We almost did that and saw someone else do the same thing the very next day. 56th Avenue is the only way into their parking lot.

The food was great and large portions. Mozzarella Sticks were a huge hit with my picky child, burgers were large, bacon mac and cheese was delicious and fried fish was excellent. The wait staff was fabulous, I would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area. They even gave us a bag of ice for my son that hurt his leg at the dunes!

A nice break from vacation lake food. A real restaurant with good food good service and a friendly atmosphere. If you're in the silver lake area and tired of pizza and reheated frozen food choices head over to Open Hearth. You'll be glad you did.

I can't believe this restaurant gets a good review. The food was awful!! The gourmet macaroni and cheese was awful, you couldn't eat the French fries, the cheese sticks were more like cream cheese or some fake cheese not mozzarella. Salmon was terrible. The salad was good. I'm really just disappointed in myself that I paid the $60 bill!!

Very very good BBQ pulled Pork Sandwich and foot stack of home made breaded onion rings served on a paper towel dispenser. Our waitress was the bomb ;) Very nice Good up sell on the Oberon. Drink the Oberon they serve it on tap. Meat eaters heaven. They have a black bean burger for vegans. No dessert for us because we are full like piglets. Great sandwich Excellent Cole Slaw. Eat here because its just before the dunes. Come one come all come in herds

If you need a bite around these parts, this isn't a terrible choice. As a vegetarian there isn't much on the menu but that is the trend in rural MI. The fried pickles were salty but good. My husband LOVED the cheese cubes. I got a pretty gross caesar salad, so I'd say stay away from that. The service was attentive.
