I wife and I enjoyed our visit to highland hideaway. Beverly, our host, was friendly and fun. The bed-and-breakfast was extremely clean. We enjoyed the free wine tasting. If you're lucky Beverly will get out her mandolin, join her friend Bill, and play some music for you. Our breakfast of crêpes made from local fresh raspberries and cherries Was fantastic. There was also fresh fruit, juice, warm muffins, etc. Honey recommended

Outstanding food, service and fair prices ! A great new addition to HS! Smoked whitefish is everywhere up here, but they do it best - atop homemade english muffins and poached eggs - superb!
I love Sam's Graces! The food is all homemade, the service is great, and it is an all-around wonderful experience there. I would not go to Harbor Springs without visiting this restaurant.
LOVE LOVE LOVE! I have never gone and had something i didn't like. The pizza and Benedict's are amazing.

Excellent food from a Limited menu. I had the meat lovers. Stuffed full of delicious bacon and sausage. We had a party of six, that's about the largest group that this can accommodate. The server was friendly, efficient, and fast. Altogether, a very nice family restaurant. Easy to miss, right next to the gas station.
Wow! A $40 breakfast for hubs, me and the kids. This was not a spectacular amazing breakfast. It was just a normal breakfast. I had 2 eggs and toast, my daughter-1 egg and toast with bacon, son got 2 pancakes with blueberries and the hubs got their big breakfast that had 2eggs, toast, sausage and hash browns. We all had juice. The waitress was super nice, friendly. She said that they can cater to smaller portions to accommodate the kids but I didn't see the prices reflecting smaller anything. It all looked full price to me. The place is clean, kind of a seaside coloring look to it. Friendly staff. Service was fairly prompt considering they were packed but like I said not the cheapest place around.
A fine lunch with delicious grilled cheeses. Stop in to eat with the locals. A classic tiny-town diner, full of charm.

Great food! Kielbasa and perogis are delicious, and everything is very authentic. Counter service and nothing fancy inside, but absolutely worth a visit. Staff is very sweet and accommodating. We have loved everything we've tried there and our kids love the potato dumplings with sour cream.
We went on a Saturday at 6:30 and we're the only ones there when we entered. We had to wait for quite a while for the gentleman to come out but once we ordered food came very fast. Food was yummy! Filled us right up and plus some. We will be back!
This is a hidden gem up here. The pierogies are some of the best I've had not homemade. Everything is cooked with love and it comes through in the taste of the food. The only negative is that they are closed on Sunday, so don't wait until your ride home to stop.

Just want to write a review of a place just outside of Cross Village. We had an unbelievable meal. The perch dinner was the best I have ever had. Lightly breaded and fresh with a perfect compliment of vegetables. The cheese spread and crackers were a perfect set up for the meal. I have eaten at Legs Inn which is close by but for the price and quality meal this is by far my favorite.
We went to the Crows Nest for Valentines Day. We weren't disappointed! The special was beef tenderloin and a lobster tail dinner. It was amazing! The salad had an out of this world warm bacon dressing! My husband said he could drink it, that it was that good! Everything was done to perfection. Our table was cozy next to the fireplace. We will defiantly go back. Worth the drive!
Went to this restaurant last year and definitely it was a 5 star. Revisited it on July 2, 2011 and was disappointed. Just like other members of Yelp that I have read their reviews on revisiting a place that they thought was excellent and the second time around - well???? We were the first two in the restaurant - the restaurant opens at 5:00 p.m. Sat down and the waitress came and took our drink orders and wanted us to hurry and put in our dinner orders as well--so, we ordered our food. About 5 minutes later a couple came in and the man was a little loud and you could tell he was there before. I don't know if he wanted to impress the lady he was with or what. But, he said he would like some of their famous cheese and crackers (free). The waitress ran right in and got them their cheese and crackers. We were watching and no complimentary cheese and crackers came to us. So, me being me - mmmmmhhh - I asked the waitress for our cheese - she said they were running low on crackers!!! So, needless to say since I wasn't loud and obnoxious like the gentleman, we did not get any. I had ordered ribs, yum! Well, when I got them they were overcooked and hard to chew on. ugh. I only had 3 bones and decided to take the rest back to the cottage on Lake Michigan. The decor was alright - nothing special.

Dark. Really dark, after you've been out in the sun and snow on the ski runs. After your eyes adjust, you can see that it's a fairly nice place, with a fireplace and ski-gear-on-the-wall-as-decorations motif. The red bucket chairs on casters are really, really comfy. I'm sure they have booze there, 'cuz there were some people talking with that loud voice you only get when you're a bit ... expansive. But we were there on a mission: refuel, warm up the toes, then go back out and ski like maniacs until they close the lifts and tell us to go home already. Our waiter made us feel at home. She didn't rush us, and came to check on us often enough. Great service! We decided to split a Reuben sandwich. The corned beef was not too salty. The sauerkraut had been warmed on the grill. Sometimes, they keep it cold, but we like it warmed up, 'specially in the winter. The bread was swirly pumpernickel rye. The waitress brought us each our own basket, and we each had a pickle and crunchy homemade ripply potato chips (awesome!) along with our Reuben. It was plenty for me. Don't want to eat too much, then feel sluggish right at the top of a challenging ski run! Only about ten bucks, plus tip. A great deal for lunch at a ski resort. And you don't have to wade through the crowds, like over at the Boyne Highlands cafeteria.

My wife and I did date night today at the New York restaurant. The service was great as soon as we entered. They were able to seat us without reservations and it got very busy and lively so we were happy we could get in. They have a really good wine list and pretty broad special list. Our salads were lacking - I ordered the roasted beets with goat cheese and I got a sliver of cheese and one beet thinly sliced. The entree mains were ok (filet and veal) but the sides were bland and consisted of an ice cream scoop of mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables with the uniformed consistency from a food vendor's frozen delivery - go fresh guys.
Went to the bogo last Friday! Called for reservations, a must for this little treat! We had the whitefish special and the rosemary chicken! Very good, and the service was perfect.
My husband and I are so thankful to have the New York restaurant here in Harbor Springs. It's one place we can go and know it will ALWAYS be consistent with great food.

Not a bad little burger joint. As long as your planing to eat it right away. Any lag time on your meal and your fries become soggy and inedible :-(. If you have the chances to eat them right away they are tasty.
My friend said the burger was great but the fruit salad was a total disappointment!! Frozen mushy berries, not fresh berries!!!
I live nearby and really like the burgers here. they taste like they were grilled outdoors, buns are soft and tasty too. Also like the Chicago Dog, Every time I have had take out it has been great!

Fast service. We dined here with our 9 month old and they were great (seated us appropriately and several staff members couldn't stop entertainig him). We decided to go here because my husband loves fish however I'm allergic and so we hardly ever go somewhere with fish. My husband said his walleye was outstanding. My chicken was good (but not great) because I thought some flavors were strong an left the dish unbalanced. But their bread was great and served piping hot. Overall great experience and we will patronize this business again in the future!
We had high hopes when we walked into the fish. It is a cute little place and is decorated very whimisical and artsy. I just loved it walking in. That being said, I had the second worst meal I've ever ordered in a restaurant (the first was in London and would be impossible to beat). I ordered the Tuna au Poive. It consisted of 4 slices of gristly tuna. There were no cracked peppercorns on the tuna, but they did top it with RAW garlic and olive oil. The tuna sat atop a gummy solution of overcooked risotto. The vegetable side was asparagus-but not the long spears-no. What they served me were the woody end pieces that you would break off at home and THROW AWAY while cleaning the aspargus. I actually had to spit it out into their fancy blue napkin. The salad and bread were pretty good but hey, I could have made that at home for a few bucks. Service was also pretty bad. We were not given a kids menu, so I asked our server if the restaurant had one. She said yes, and started rattling off choices. But, the items she rattled off were from the main menu and were not priced any differently, they were just items she thought kids would like-beware. Then, I ordered a bottle of wine for my husband and myself, and she turned to my husband and asked what he would like to drink. Hello. Seriously, don't bother with this place. We would have been so much better off at home with a bowl of cereal.
This was definitely a mixed bag. ATMOSPHERE (4/5): Pretty cute set-up here: someone has put some thought into the atmosphere, with lots of fish-shaped decor and nicely strung lights. SERVICE (1/5): The wait was an absurd hour and 1/2 given the relative dearth of customers, and the (cute and otherwise friendly) server didn't apologize or even acknowledge the wait, which was odd. We also saw 3 tables who sat after us get served first which was also weird. I think the server must have been new to the biz, she also didn't clear away any plates until we asked. FOOD (3/5): I enjoyed my filet mignon with mashed potatoes and veggies, altho it had evidently sat under the warmer for some amount of time, as the mashed potatoes had a crispy skin and my butter pat was reduced to a melty froth. My brother's tuna was also so overcooked it had to be sent back, so that was a drag after the long wait, but the new cut was evidently tasty when it came out. It was still a pleasant evening since it was good food and nice company, but definitely not a place I'd run to return to.
