Great service combined with good food and fair prices. Love the salad bar and the wide assortment of yummy tidbits including the broasted potatoes and delicious bar cheese.

I can speak for my entire extended family when I say we love this place. Our roots go way way back, primarily with the downstairs restaurant "The Dungeon". My great-grandfather was a loyal patron for years, my clearest memories of him sitting at the bar, socializing with staff that knew him by name. I myself have been dining here before I could talk. So, as a staple of my upbringing, I am almost obliged to give this place five stars, but they also deserve it in their own right. This is not authentic Mexican food (The Dungeon). But it is still so damn good. My go to, and what they are most known for, is the Chicken Fajita. I now live in Madison, which is a city with some of the best restaurants, but I'm yet to find a fajita as good as The Dungeon's. The staff are very personable, and many have been working here for years, so there is a system working without flaw. This place is nothing fancy, you could even call it a hole in the wall, but the servers and Mona(the manager) really strive to create an excellent experience for diners. And for that I am grateful. Whenever I make those few trips back home to Michigan, I come here. It's a restaurant familiar, and I feel lucky for that.

This place is nostalgic for me, I've been going to the downstairs part (The Dungeon) for as long as I can remember. Always go here for my birthday dinner with family. Its a place that alot of our family meets up after events. My favorites here are their margaritas...they have a few different flavors, I usually get the Mango or the swirled strawberry kiwi. Food wise...The Fajitas. They are hands down the best I have ever had. The fajita wrap with salsa ranch and fries is another go to! For me...the downstairs is the way to go rather than upstairs. And this place is OLD... its been around for along time, and you can tell. But the people are always so sweet, customers and staff.

Neither my beau nor I had been to the Grandvilla Dungeon in more than 20 yrs. We decided to stop in on a Friday evening and were seated right away. Server was great, she did a good job. Food was brought out to us quickly. Their pico de gallo had way too much jalapeno in it to be edible, so we had the server bring out some mild salsa which my beau enjoyed. I had spicy chicken enchiladas, which were OK, and my beau had a ground beef burrito which he made disappear in short order.

My husband and I just had delicious burgers at the Dungeon. The food was great but I did deduct a stars for these reasons. 1) I think their prices are high for the amount of food you get. It was a few cents less than Red Robin and fries are not included. 2) the booths are rickety and overall, the decor could use some attention. Don't get me wrong, we love this place...I just think they should revamp some things.

Exceptional family restaurant. You can't go wrong with the dungeon burger or wet burrito. Specials are often good. Sometimes I indulge on the Prime Rib which is delicious. I'd advise asking the server how the Prime Rib cuts are that particular night. Marlene is our favorite waitress anywhere. Salad Bar available upstairs is also a real treat. We prefer the upstairs but the Dungeon is also good for Mexican and basic American entrees.

Five stars every time! Chips and cheese are LOADED, salsa tastes like none other and tacos are fabulous. A childhood favorite that never disappoints! $1 beers all day every day...can't go wrong. Highly recommended.

Being the Duke is a big responsibility:) I feel as tho I am the ambassador for the one and only Dungeon burger no other compares. I have been known to eat two in one setting and that is no small feat. When ordering you only need to know onion, ketchup, mustard, pickle, cheese less is more. Poncitos as an appetizer is a must seasoned beef, cheese, onion and more. The only drawback is leaving after lunch on a sunny day. You come out of the dungeon and you are temporally blind. Totaly worth it

Ok cheap "Mexican" food. Can't speak for the steaks, so maybe that would rank them higher. Decent service. Big food - 1-and 2-lb burritos, so you"ll be full But four stars is laughable. Unless you"d give Taco Bell three.

I went there last week in july. I was served on the basement level know as "The dungeon" very good mexican food. My wife got all you can eat whitefish for 9.99. Can't beat that. I also was impressed with the huge portions and "fried ice cream" was the best I ever had. My only issue was the bathroom was clean but they ran out of paper towels.

Visited the Dungeon in the basement on a Friday evening during Lent. The fish tacos that were featured were the best I've ever had!

Grandvilla is the place upstairs, which is a larger family restaurant that is frequented by people over 60, and the Dungeon is a downstairs Mexican place that has a younger crowd, mind you, this is no great achievement in light of the crowd at Grandvilla. The prices at both are really super reasonable, and the service is usually good. At the Dungeon the chicken fajita quesadilla and chips and cheese (this is nachos, not queso. I was confused as well lol) are the only two items that are reliably good, American-ized versions of Mexican food. I have not cared much for the other things I have tried at the Dungeon (chimichanga, wet burrito) but this place is super close to our house so we do go there occasionally. Grandvilla is the upstairs joint that seems to be geared toward elders and has a lot of bland food that is still fairly solid. Basic burgers, decent fried chicken, good rueben. Nothing here is going to blow you away, but it's solid and affordable.

I love going to the dungeon! The grilled cheese is amazing here on the dungeon bread! The dungeon burger with green olives is also spot on and the mini wet burrito is tasty and filling. The mild salsa is also the best ever.

Love the dungeon and the one pound beef burrito! Their salsa and guacamole is also very good. My friends usually get the dungeon burger. Great food and usually good service, definitely recommend!

Our whole family loves the Grandvilla dungeon. The new menu is huge with lots of choices. I'm not a fan of everything on the menu, but most of it. If you get the nachos with meat, a half-order is plenty for any normal person (and I'm a big guy with a big appetite). Once a week they have an all-you-can eat taco bar that is simple but great tasting. We usually get a bowl of tortilla chips to start, with mild sauce. And we love the cheese salt. Plenty of choices for our boys, too - they usually get a quesadilla.

Not bad menu, nothing spectacular. I think the 1.99 for tortilla chips is a bit out of line. Their Mexican menu is not authentic but serviceable. The tomatillo enchiladas are a bit different but pretty tasty. The ocean perch dinner is the best I've had locally, with four filets lightly breaded.

One of the few local restaurants to serve real broasted chicken. Upstairs is Grandvilla serving traditional American fare (reminds me of the 1970's) and in the basement is the Dungeon serving Mexican food and more of a bar atmosphere.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
