Despite a less than favorable experience the first time we went to One East Main, we decided to bring our big group there another time hoping that we would have a better experience. Unfortunately, this was not the case. The decor is simple. There a few local artifacts on the walls which are interesting. The first time we were there the restaurant was empty. The second time the restaurant was fairly busy. We found out fairly early that this place has what is probably the slowest service of any restaurant in Newaygo county. Getting coffee refills during breakfast was almost impossible. Eventually after smoke signals and a few strongly worded letters we were good to go. The only nice thing about this place was that they had cheap pitchers of beer. Drinking away the anger created by the terrible service made the experience a little better.

Food was good, nice beer selection. Onion rings are homemade and very tasty. Girlfriend had a grilled cheese and could have used a little more cheese. Steak fries could have been cooked a little longer ( we both like them light brown not just a light golden). Would return when we are back in the area. But also will try a few other local joints first.

Waitress very friendly. Oriental Salad good. Philly Steak sandwich was awful. (As in, hubby refused to eat it.) Very disappointed. Localized mugs and placemats are retro cool but the taste of the food does not match up to the hometown restaurants of yesteryear. There is an astro-turf type carpet that has a huge rip in the middle of the dining area. We should have seen this as the red flag it is. If the manager does not care about fixing this with some green duct tape...well...there you go.

Very reasonable pricing with a large selection of choices. This place offers a cafe-style menu on one side of the restaurant, and finer selections with a full bar on the other. We sat in the fine dining area. Service was adequate and friendly. We did find Sunday morning breakfast and lunch we very busy times and a challenge to the serving staff. This place is a reasonably-priced alternative to fast food or pizza, and you can get a decent glass of wine or mixed drink.
