These burgers taste exactly like they were made on the grill at a BBQ in your backyard. Meat tastes fresh every single time, as well as the veggies they use. The burgers are huge! Stacked high and mighty! Make sure you have about 40 napkins nearby because you will get messy. Pricing is a little high, but I'm more than happy to pay top dollar for these burgers than for crappy fast food. Their sides are great too. I normally get sweet potato fries with my order. Yum!! Fried veggies are really good too. Huge pieces and huge portions. You won't leave full. I have tried almost every burger on the menu and have loved them all.

I visited a while back, but didn't really have time to stay, so that one doesn't count. This time, however, I was able to spend an enjoyable lunch with a pleasant server, eating a most delectable burger. Upon the recommendation of several non-Yelping people, I stopped in yesterday a little after the lunch crowd. After looking over the menu and deciding beforehand that I wanted a burger, I had to choose between the Abby (on special for Tuesday) or the Lane. I finally selected the Lane burger. With fries and an Arnold Palmer to drink, this turned out to be an excellent choice on my part (patting myself on the back). The burger was made from Black Angus ground beef and was smothered with grilled onions, mushrooms & cheese, and topped with a fresh bun. My fries were perfect, as was my drink. There were plenty of condiments to choose from, but honestly, I wanted to taste this burger unadulterated. And I did - whataburger!! Great burger place!!!

Abby Lane has one of the turkey best burgers I have ever had! The owner is super nice and will cook the burgers right in front of you. Everything is made to order and the onion rings are even homemade! Really if you are looking for a great burger in the Fraser area, drive as fast as you can to Abby Lane - You won't be disappointed!

We don't get to this place often but you can rest assured you'll get a great burger! From the first bite you'll notice a difference in the meat from every other "burger joint". The onion rings are even better! Lightly beaded and crispy! A must have when I stop in. I'm keeping it at 5 stars even though most of the time we're there we seem to notice some disagreement (argument) between the waitress and the cook. I'm thinking the owner and the wife? Lol It's not very professional to see while you're eating within 15 feet of them since the place is rather tiny.

Home cooked style, American diner food. Nice owners. This should be your next burger and fries stop. I love all the toppings they offer for your burger. Chicken Pita was very good, if you want a healthier choice. Burgers are phenomenal! Carry out or eat in. Quality at a great value. Stop in here for a quick meal instead of a chain-restaurant. You will be glad you did. Support this awesome local business!

Absolutely wonderful food at this gem. I gave 4 stars only because the atmosphere left something to be desired. It was very clean and efficient though. This most recent visit my husband and I decided to dine in. I ordered the Abby Lane burger avocado and sprouts were the highlight. So in order to balance out the health factor we ordered fried mushrooms and fried cauliflower. They were perfectly battered and fried, not overly greasy, wonderful. In the past we have ordered fried pickles they interesting for sure. My husband ordered the blue cheese burger (I don't remember the exact name.) Both burgers were cooked perfectly to order. Since we were in the mood to splurge we each got a milk shake, these are honest to goodness real ice cream and milk shakes. Oh yes, a prefect burger meal.

First let me say that I will be back. Second let me say that I was fully prepared to give Abby Lane 5 stars but just can't yet. It was my first visit and we dined in. The joint is quaint and has that sort of "Up North Gem" sort of feel. We were greeted by a wonderfully kind waitress. Perhaps the owners wife? She gave us enough time to look over the lengthy menu and bared with us when we made some last minute changes to our order. She did forget an order of onion rings, but in the end it was for the best. They were amazing, but no one needs an entire order of all that grease So here's where we get to why I can only give Abby Lane 3 stars. We ordered three burgers. 2 medium and 1 medium well. When they arrived 1 was charred and 2 were well done. The one that was charred was as like the burger that fell through the grate on your grill was planted on a bun.(And it's so charred and tiny that the bun looks HUGE compared to the burger) I liked the flavor of the burger I received, but I would have liked it all the more if it was medium and non well done. With only 5 people in the restaurant I'm not sure what happened there, but as I said I'm willing to give them a second chance. On to the good. One word.... BACON!!!! Best bacon I have ever had at a burger joint. Crispy and no rubbery fat to be found. The ingredients were fresh and the bun was delicious with a tinge of sweet. Hopefully I will have a better burger experience, but my first time was sadly not all I wanted it to be.

My wife used to be a waitress here. I would stop in once and a while and get a burger. I was never disappointed with any burger I have ever tried from Abbey Lane. The food is excellent!

I built my own burger, choosing from a number of different topping options. The burger was put together nicely and had generous amounts of bleu cheese and other toppings. I also tried the onions rings and really enjoyed what I ate... but I was so full from the burger that I didn't eat many! I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars because I was a little put off by the cook going back and forth from the front to the grill without fully washing his hands. Rather, he wiped them on a towel. While he didn't handle any cash, he did help with the credit card machine. Gloves should be used at the very least, changing them between cooking & handling the front. Overall, very good food just a little questionable when it comes to cooking cleanliness.

Good burgers, made to order so they were really fresh. Low key and pretty relaxing atmosphere. 4 stars because it was a little pricey, but overall a nice place to try out!

This is metro Detroit's best secret! Forget the burgers!!! The Fish and Chips, Root Soup, and Philly Cheese steak is to die for! I crave this food! The owner is amazing, the fish and chips is great EVERY SINGLE TIME it never changes, great consistent food, reasonably priced, homemade soups. I want to recommend this for Diners Drive-Ins and Dives because this place deserves to be recognized! A+++++++ Oh and did I mention the burgers are the best around!

I love Yelp and I love the honesty of my fellow yelpers, who once again lead me to another wonderful establishment. I have driven by this place many, many times and didn't know that Abby Lane was even there! First off we walked in and were instantly greeted by an extremely friendly employee and decided to take a seat and dine in. The entire place is very clean. The menu has a lot more to offer then I thought, but my husband and I decided to get burgers. I ordered the blue and tater tots on the side, it was topped with blue cheese, mozzarella cheese, lettuce and tomato. I almost ordered it without the mozzarella cheese, but it really worked. My husband is pretty plan and ordered a 1/2 lb burger with just American cheese and bacon with a side of fries. For the both of us it was $26, not breaking the bank by any means. I thought everything was awesome and I will definitely be back.

Better then five guys, and I really like five guys. Will definitely be going back. No issues with ordering or service for me. The onion rings were very good as well, and I am looking forward to trying the fresh fried potato chips. Wonderful, handmade burgers.

These are the kind of places as a lover of food that you take your friends to to prove you indeed have the best taste out of your group. Ignore the people who complain about the grumpy owner (who sometimes is the only one there and has health problems which if someone bothered to smile and be nice to him he opens up and is super funny) this place isn't a five star resturant its a burger joint people. Its a burger joint with so many options all of which are delicious. Plus the cost is nothing compared to red robin or fast food. ENJOY!

They make the best burgers I've had. You can build your burger anyway you like. There is every possible topping. We usually get the Abby which has avocado, sprouts. They also have many option from the fryer such as fried cauliflower and fried pickles. The restaurant is very small. It is better for carry out than for dine in. Only complaint is that they aren't opened Sundays.

Amazing burgers here. Fast friendly service. While we were eating there was nonstop traffic for food pickups.

Oh my god, a burger that tastes like you cooked it on your grill at home. Order your size 1/4, 1/3, 1/2 or 1lb, cooked the way you want it and it arrives that way. I ordered a 1/3 medium rare with a fried egg the meat was cooked perfectly dripping with juices a a good runny yolked egg....YUM The onion rings are worth the trip along battered as ordered crispy crunchy onioness. I will most certainly be back

Have never had a bad meal here. The owner is welcoming. Wide variety of food choices for the pickiest of eaters. My son loves going and making his own burger just the way he likes it from the many burger options. I get one of the chicken options since I don't eat red meat and they have always been great as well.

One of the three best burgers in Metro Detroit, as good as (or better) than Red Coat Tavern and Foran's. They make gourmet burgers at very reasonable prices ($6-$8). The hamburger meat was obviously angus beef and all of the toppings are fresh. My personal favorite is the Abby burger. Unfortunately, it's so good that I rarely make it any further down the menu to try other things even though I've been back ten times in the last year. The location isn't very good which is the only reason more people don't know about this place. It's in a small strip mall on 15 Mile just east of Garfield. The restaurant is pretty small but there are probably 6 or 7 tables if you're going to dine in. Definitely try this place out if you're a fan of great burgers at a good price.

Best burgers in town, don't listen to others. It's a small family owned business and has one worker (don't have parties here) most of the time, but it's worth the wait... Because unlike BK or McDonalds, it's real meat theat you can see and taste it is cooked. After working endless hours everyday, I think you should give the ONE worker there a break and stop being a woos and get over the little things that make it dirty (not very at all, if at all dirty) and think how you would manage if you were in his shoes.

I like the burgers at Abby Lane better than Flashback, Five Guys, or Achatz. So far they are my favorites among the gourmet burger crowd that seem to be popping up. The places where you can carry-out a good burger better than any drive thru. Abby Lane does have seating so you can eat in. The fries are fine and the prices are in line with what you would expect. I've also found coupons that help out on occasion. The burgers here are thick and freshly made so you will be waiting for a little bit but it's worth it. I prefer the thick burgers like I'd make myself rather than the multiple thinner patties some other places use. Overall a great little burger joint that does what they do very well.

My wife and I finally made it to Abby Lane. We've been meaning to come here for quite awhile, but after the man that cleans our carpets told us about how great their burgers are, we knew we had to try it. When we arrived shortly before noon on a Saturday, there was only a couple of parking spots left. I felt for sure that the place was packed and we might not get to try their burgers. But when we entered, the place was empty. We dined in and had our pick of the six tables. We were greeted promptly by a very friendly lady who was the hostess, waitress, and cashier. We ordered our 1/3 lb burgers medium with our choice of toppings from a long list on the menu. They arrived in short order and were delicious. Nothing better than a thick juicy cheeseburger on a grilled soft bun with all fresh toppings! I also ordered their curly fries and they came hot and delicious. The meal was everything I was expecting and more. It appeared that the majority of their business, at least at lunchtime, is carry-out. Some people say that you can tell a lot about a restaurant by the restrooms. They only have one, but it was spacious, well decorated, and most of all, clean. The only negative thing I can say about this place is that they don't have ample parking, which in all fairness, is not their fault. They are part of a small strip of businesses. Now, I wonder where all the people from those cars in the parking lot were. Anyway, if you love a great burger, make it a point to come here.

TL;DR: Abby Lane has THE BEST tasting burgers in Michigan. To be honest, I don't know how I found this place. I think it was Yelp, but I don't remember how I stumbled across a little burger place with a measly nine reviews on this site. All I know is, I'm glad I managed to try it out. As seen in my picture, I got a "The Bleu" burger with jalapenos and bacon added, cooked medium-rare, and with a side of onion rings. I don't know what else to say other than that this is easily one of the best burgers I've ever had. Forget about Achatz, as tasty as their food is. The only burger that I've had to this date that I preferred was The Plague Bringer at Kuma's Corner in Chicago. My burger was cooked to juicy perfection with a great grilled, char-broiled sort of flavor. The toppings were plentiful, and I couldn't ask for more. The onion rings were also top-tier, as far as I'm concerned. Extremely crispy, fresh, and comparable to Blimpy Burger in Ann Arbor's onion rings. If you come to Abby Lane, do yourself a favor and get an order of the rings. Not only was the food top notch, but the price was super reasonable at $10 for a half pound burger (with some extra toppings) with onion rings. I hope this place has many, many years left, because their sloppy, fantastic burgers and crispier-than-you'd-believe onion rings are something that any connoisseur would love.

During my "I don't care what I eat, I'm gonna binge!" week over the Holidays we stopped here for lunch. It is right near my house and is a place I have been wanting to try for some time now. After the first bite I immediately thought to myself "WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG TO EAT HERE?!" All of their burgers are a half pound of ground Black Angus beef and are cooked to perfection! It was nicely seasoned and was so juicy. As others have said, they give Red Coat Tavern and other similar places a serious run for their money and at a fraction of the price. The average burger runs you $6.99, but if you want their Monster (which is a full pound of meat) or their Lamb Burger you are going to pay a little more. The wifey and I both opted for the "Abby" which is their signature burger and it did not disappoint. It was topped with peppered bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado slices, alfalfa sprouts, and their Abby sauce which is like a fancy kicked up mayo. The sprouts were what made the burger in my opinion. It gave it a nice earthy flavor that balanced out the richness of the beef and avocado. I was going to opt to add cheese to it, but forgot when we placed the order and you know what? I didn't even miss it. All in all it was hands down one of the best pieces of meat I have ever put in my mouth, and I have put a lot of meat in my mouth. Get your head of out the gutters you sickos! I am talking about food here. Sheesh! But seriously, why are you still sitting there? GO TRY THIS PLACE!

Tucked away in a small strip mall on 15/Garfield, this is a solid mom/pop burger joint. On a Friday night, it was quite busy with take out orders and a full room of people eating in. There are only about 6-7 tables, and it's waitress service. You pay at the front when you are done, and tip in the common tip jar. The food: 1) 1/2 pound Shroom Burger: Mushrooms, Caramelized Onions, and Swiss Cheese. It was a great tasting burger, but I ordered a medium. I tend to like my burger a true medium and more pink. The hot hot mushrooms and cheese might have overcooked it. 2) Regular Burgers: Toppings are additional from .35 to $1. You can also order a baby burger, 1/4,1/3, and 1/2 pound. A typical half pound burger with cheese, tomato, lettuce will run you about 6 dollars. So, I wished I tried the onion rings, but I got a side of fries. I would pass on the fries next time, because it wasn't anything special. I will def. go back, and I'm going to try the Abby Lane burger or veggie burger next time. I'm a huge fan of their alfalfa sprout toppings on it!

My family loves this place! Excellent service. It's a small place but don't let that fool you. The burgers are char grilled and very good. My favorite is The Shroom. And I like the option of having lettuce or sprouts. They have the best onion rings! Kudos to Abby Lane!

Pretty solid stuff for a burger joint. I agree w some other posts that it is as good as Red Coat without the price. Surprised they did not have a Bacon Cheeseburger as one of the main burgers - but you can always "build" one. We will definitely go back.

  • Kim T.

I got the shroom and it was perfectly prepared. My only objection was that I thought it could've been seasoned a little bit more to my liking. Not overly greasy with the right amount of toppings. I will add pickles and mustard next time. The onion rings were hand made, crispy and perfectly fried. Not a lot of batter and just the right thickness, I would recommend them if you like onion rings. I did try the ranch which seemed like it had a bit too much celery (seed/salt) flavoring but better than some that I've had, but definitely not the best. All in all a good experience. The cashier was friendly, prices reasonable. Check out their specials when you go. I didn't notice them until after I ordered.
