Been eating here years. Consistently a notch above a typical Asian eatery. I say Asian because the menu is all over the place: Thai, Chinese, Japanese. Fried rice was off and the Mongolian beef was heavy on the oyster sauce but the curry was fine. Service and atmosphere are fantastic with views of the bay and all the veggies were fresh. Kinda place that uses canned sauce but garnishes the meal with fresh ingredients. As always, tastes better after a swim or a surf out by the pier.

Nice décor, good service. Sadly the food here is pretty ick. I tried the sampler of 3 sweet chicken dishes. Sweet and sour, honey, and sesame. All came in very bland, goopy sauces. I could deal with the texture if the flavor was good but overall those were terrible, as was the awful fried rice. The yellow rice was dry, stuck together, and tasted like nothing. I have never had bad fried rice, or sweet and sour chicken for that matter so the standards are not high. There is no way anyone tasted that rice and thought it was good. No excuse to put out such poor quality food. There is no pride in the food, just based on that rice alone. It came out 2 minutes after our appetizer, very soon after we ordered. My grandma normally likes the spring rolls here but did not this time. She did not love her stir fry also and thought maybe there is a new cook. The hot and sour soup was ok I guess. This is definitely not the kind of fresh flavor we expected based on how they market themselves. That was the worst Chinese entrée I have ever had anywhere, so that is pretty bad. Never again.

Best sushi in Northern Michigan plus a view. A pleasant surprise and a hidden gem. Very good service, but plan on wait at peak times.

For a second (1st was 4 out of 5 sushi lunch) visit the 3-way entrees were not as exciting as one would hope by the name. Using the same base for 3 curry dishes and wings for 1 of 3 spicy three way the culinary adventure for a "sampling" was the equivalent of going to a China buffet Not a Fusion experience other than flavor profiles did fuse into one. SISCO at its "best?".... Menu wasn't updated as beer arrived in bottle vs. stated draft list... Service walked on by without much interest for silverware

Fantastic 4th at Fusion Lucky we were hungry for an early early dinner because they were totally booked later. We were a group of 6 and they accommodated us with 2 tables on the terrace - teenager and adult table. We had a Small plate smorgasbord - tempura shrimp, shank, calamari, seafood tartare, seaweed salad martini, mussels - my fav - Thai curry sauce, pork buns and sesame chicken. Deliciously stuffed. Good service too

My wife and I met my high school biology teacher from 41 yeas ago here for an overdue reunion. We had an absolutely wonderful time with the food being great and the service excellent. The wait staff was attentive, the food nicely presented and spiced as requested. Everything was surprisingly fresh taking into account being off season in a sleepy little resort town. We were very happy with this choice and will definitely be back.

The selection of good restaurants in Frankfort is pretty slim, and we were invited by friends to join them here, and that's how I came to violate one of my primary dining out rules: Never eat in a Chinese restaurant unless you see a good number of Chinese people actually dining there. The setting is very hip and stylish. Asymmetric plates and bowls (how 1990s LA!), cheap fake modern decor, white tablecloths, snotty staff. The food, however, is more 1950s school cafeteria. We ordered four different dishes, and were served four more or less identical plates, each with the same sauce, and the same tiny frozen vegetables. Here it was the middle of August, in a town surrounded by farms producing fantastic fresh vegetables, and we're being charged upscale prices for veggies that came off the GFS truck. The sauces were the usual cornstarch thickened glop, the seasonings heavy on soy sauce and sugar, and the result was about as appetizing as it sounds. Unless your taste for Asian food comes from being raised on canned bean sprouts and sweet and our sauce in a jar, give this place a pass.

Lost our wedding rehearsal reservation. Not only did they fail to honor our reservation, the manager stated it was our fault for not confirming our reservation with him. He then went on to offer us a table in 2 hrs with an additional group fee attached. We were forced to dine elsewhere. The following evening our wedding reception was lacking one high chair. We thought Fusion could help us out by lending one for the night which also provided them an opportunity to right their wrong - they refused. With the management being so inept at customer service, I can only imagine their food and dining experience is less than desirable.

it seems like this place is hit or miss amongst yelpers. For my husband and I on Valentine's Day, it was a big hit! They were very busy and the employees seemed overwhelmed at times. Yes, we waited about 20 mins after our reservation time and yes, we waited quite a while for our first round of drinks. But we did what other Yelpers should do--remained patient. The presentation of our food was beautiful. I loved our appetizer sampler to start--two of each of their most popular app items. I had the Sweet Threesome, a sampler of honey chicken, sweet-and-sour chicken, and sesame chicken. It was served in this cool four-compartment plate, the last being for a side of rice. Holy wow, it was a lot of food. I boxed up much of mine to go to save room for dessert. We had a tough time deciding between the fried ice cream or the strawberry cheesecake crisp. We opted for the latter and it was delicious. It was a crisp wrap, warm cheesecake filling, and strawberries and chocolate on the side. I'm pretty sure you can't go wrong with any of the choices. Most tables around us had the fried ice cream and it looked heavenly. Be patient with The Fusion and enjoy!

Great spot. Sampled a variety of dishes, including the calamari, tom ka, sushi and plenty of sake and other drinks. Calamari was amazing. The sushi was good for the area, certainly no shortage of sriracha as mentioned in another review. Pretty good sake selection for the area, although they were out of several selections. Their draft beer list was short and left something to be desired though. All in all, I plan to go back many times though. We also had great service from a nice girl name Abigail.

I guess it was just our bad luck, but we had two tables on either side of us having mobile phone conversations. frankforters, take your oh so important phone call outside or call them back! "well, he's in jail again...god doesn't judge us for our children's mistakes..." no, perhaps not, but I judge you for your lack of social graces and etiquette. ps: the spring rolls should be called grease rolls. everything else we had was okay.

I'm not sure where the people who gave a poor review ate at. Our meals were both fabulous! Veggies fresh and cooked to perfection, sweet sauces not overly sweet, all chicken entrees we had were made with breast meat. Best egg drop soup we've ever eaten. Server was very friendly and attentive. We will be back!!!!

4 of us went to eat, and all 4 agreed, it was the best all around meal we have had in a very long time. Started with apps and ended with dessert. We live about 40 miles away, and can't wait to return.

I love this place. There are so many great items to decide from. The sushi is great & creative and the seafood in the dishes cooked to perfection...succulent scallops lobster & shrimp. Well done!

I enjoyed myself. The environment, food and staff are very kind. The only complaint I have that really isn't major is the wait time for food. I would recommend anyone to eat here.

It's...fine? I came in a large group over the weekend - we were celebrating two engagements and a birthday. My boyfriend and I split the green curry, red dragon roll and the garlic green beans. The green curry was very good, as were the green beans, but the sushi was just awful. Absolutely awful. The only sriracha on the roll was a few droplets scattered on the plate/roll. I honestly think I have had better sushi prepackaged in a grocery store. It was disappointing. With that being said, the staff was very friendly and attentive to us. They even brought out cupcakes at the end of the meal for the newly engaged couples and the birthday, which was greatly appreciated!

Food was great, nice atmosphere, pleasant servers. We had a group of 14 and they were busy, got seated more than 15 minutes after our reservation. We had to ask the server multiple times to bring place settings and drinks. Was almost 2.5 hours after our reservation before we got out of there.

  • Steve W.

Absolutely awful. Believe me. I live here and in Denver. This place has the worst Asian food I have ever eaten. I've gone three times. 2013, 2014, 2015. Terrible each time. Tonight, fried rice was a sticky, yellow concealed lump. A Cantonese style chicken stir fry was tasteless, which was kind of a relief. A creme brulee tasteless and greasy. It is a shame. There isn't another Asian restaurant anywhere near Frankfort.

  • Emily D.

Good food, terrible service. Super slow and rude. Took forever. We thought it was just one bad server however been the same four times. Last time we tried to make a reservation, they were quite snippy and said they needed a few hours heads up. I would think they would prefer a reservation vs a group of two families just walking in to be seated at same table. He then Asked for a name for our group, and snipped to be more specific--he gets a 100 Michaels a day in his place--cutting us off when we tried to offer info requested. We always have family in town and would love to offer them stable Substantial business but I guess they don't need our $$...we will never go back there again.

Great meal here! Chicken egg roll and Bells Oberon to start. Masaman Curry with Chicken was amazing! Will return for sure.... And did the next night with a larger group. Red Curry this time and a Specialty Roll. Amazing - really shocking to find such good Asian Fusion in Northern Michigan!!!

Got rained out camping in the Sleeping Bear Dunes area, and found this place. The delicious food, friendly service and atmosphere helped make up for an otherwise ruined weekend. It covers a lot of asian cuisine, thai, chinese, korean. 4 people split two entrees (the red gnang curry with shrimp was wicked delicious, the general's chicken was so-so, a little sweet for my taste) and we had plenty of food. Friends at the table next to us got the Tour of Asia and said everything was delicious except for the Korean beef (but his mom is Korean, so maybe he was biased). The atmosphere is chic but still casual, and they welcomed us warmly with our camping gear on. I wish we could've stayed a little longer but they closed at 9pm and our cold rainy tents awaited us.

I have to admit, I was very nervous about this restaurant having read about the wide range of Asian cuisine that they offer. But my roomie and I gamely showed up on a Sunday around noon. It was empty when we arrived, although another table was seated soon thereafter (incidentally, I commend the waiter for dealing with them -- the other was rude, abrupt, and yelled to the waiter across the room when they were ready to order only a couple of minutes after being seated). My roomie had the ginger green tea,and the tofu stir fry, while I had the wonton soup and a rainbow roll, and we shared an order of stir-fried green beans. Now we may have both been a bit desensitized to food after several weeks of camp cafeteria fare, but it all seemed quite excellent. The wonton soup was good, though the wonton skin was a bit thicker than traditional wrappers. The sushi was much much better than anything I had in Michigan (until trying Red Ginger), and the green beans were well-prepared with just a little crunch still remaining. The restaurant is classy and has a lovely ambiance. The bathroom sink is a bit confusing though, with a sink whose handle is not clearly usable. I will admit I spent a minute or two trying to figure out how to turn on the water.

Does anyone try the sushi here??? In reading the other posted reviews, I'm thinking not. And why the heck not?! Full disclosure: I've had great sushi in DC...San Francisco...LA...NYC...etc. but you all don't care about all that, I realize. I'm just giving you some context. My 4-star review wasn't based on comparing this place to those places. I wasn't expecting that caliber. And in foregoing my expectations, I devoured a delicious meal. The Fusion is a delightful addition to this strip of Frankfort - especially when the more-than-occasional sushi craving strikes. And also especially in an area of boundless fish fry dinners and heavy Midwestern food. I had tuna and yellowtail sashimi, which were a bit on the small size, but when I expressed my concern to the bartender (I ate at the bar, rather than getting a table) she had the kitchen bring out additional pieces. I also had the Jade Maki roll; the sauce was only slightly-heavily applied, but the flavor was fresh yet hearty and satisfying - just the way I love my sushi. Overall, is there room for improvement? Probably. But this little gem will certainly suffice for appeasing my sushi cravings.

How do I start? How does one characterize the worst run establishment in the Midwest? How about the word "awful?" While accurate, that word doesn't sufficiently embody the epic failure that was our experience at The Fusion. Perhaps dreadful and ghastly better describe tonight's dinning fiasco. Our server, Simon, who we later found out is supposedly the manager, clearly has not one day of actual training in the hospitality industry. He sweated profusely while taking our order, which was just gross He didn't read the order back when I asked him to do so, which explains why they forgot to make two of the soups. We were told there was a three dollar substitution charge for making the taste of Asia vegetarian, except for the large pork shank which they included anyway. Any waiter with a brain, would have suggested that such a dinner is probably not a great choice for a vegetarian, but our fair Simon is light years away from being a waiter of minimal capabilities that can exercise even a pinch of common sense, which is probably why they made him the manager. When he delivered the check, there was a ten dollar substitution charge, which, when asked, he explained was for each vegetable that was substituted. When I asked for the manager, he proudly declared himself as the manager and said there was absolutely nothing he could do. Our fair Simon obviously doesn't even get the basic concept of management and the little power that comes along with it. Somewhere there is a village missing its idiot. Needless to say, his tip was zero. I actually thought about subtracting by making the tip a negative, but thought I could just contest the overcharging with my bank instead and didn't want to make scene with my kids there. As for the food, I will not go in to detail but it was mediocre at best. The chef appears to have some training but it's lost in the debacle that they call service. Food is not not bad, it's just not very good, but still probably better than most cuisine in the area. Also of note, the linen (paper top) had not been changed, as one seating had obviously been used prior to seating us. As for the supporting staff, they have not figured out how to properly pour water or serve and clear a plate. Eat here at your own risk and keep your expectations very low.

I enjoyed my dining experience here. The service was really good. We wanted some ideas for a couple of entres to share with the table and we had a really nice mix of sushi and stir fry. All of it was recommended by the waitress. I don't often make it to Frankfurt, but I will try to visit The Fusion on all of my future visits.

The service was terrible! We had a 2+ hour dining experience and it was not amazing. The food was ok, the view was better, and the service made us wish that we had gone anywhere else. Short on servers and it should never take a server 10 minutes to greet a table or fifteen minutes to bring water, and half an hour to take the order. Wished for it to be better...

Gets 5 stars simply because I'm amazed such good asian food can be found in the north woods. Had dinner there last night, the appetizer (tofu) was great with a warm, spicy sauce; the soup was yummy, and the main course excellent. Cold tasty local beer and a nice view of the harbor. Packed, I mean PACKED at dinnertime mid-week during the season. Call ahead and get a reservation. As we left there were probably 25 people waiting. And this was a TUESDAY!.

Just did lunch and it was wonderful. Chef provides amount of spice you ask for and everything is fresh. Vegetables were perfectly cooked. Menu is expansive. The garlic beans are a tradition with just the right amount of snap!

I came to Frankfort for a wedding recently, and tried this cute place. My mom and I were starving so we ordered the appetizer sampler which had a little of everything on it, along with the garlic string beans, calamari, and the lettuce wraps. All of it was very yummy with great choices of sauces paired with every item. The view over the water was very romantic and soothing, and the place was packed at dinner on a Friday night. The best part: after accidentally leaving my credit card there that night, the next day I went in, they promptly found it and gave it back to me. Big thumbs up for that! If you like Asian food, they have something for everyone: sushi, Chinese, create your own Thai dishes...I definitely recommend giving this place a try.

We went today for their $8 lunch. It's a fantastic deal really. The air conditioning is always blaring so if you run cold I would bring a sweater. The interior design is very nice. Two men were outside building a new outdoor deck. The server said they will try to get 12 tables out there for outside dining which will be fantastic. We had yellow curry and blue panang curry. I strongly preferred the yellow curry. It was spicy without being outlandish. I wouldn't order the other one again.

If you're craving Thai or Chinese food---stop here!! Located in ADORABLE Frankfort, Michigan....you will truly enjoy your experience here. The portions are HUGE so you will want to share, or take it home for left overs tomorrow. Everything is plated on interesting and modern plates/bowls. I'm not a sake fan but they have a giant list of it for you. The prices are pretty decent as well...you won't go broke enjoying a meal out. The location is super cute too--overlooking the lake. Perfect for a date night. After dinner be sure to stroll around downtown :)

I loved this place. Seriously. It's been almost a month since we ate there but I'm still craving the Tom Yum soup... It's a combination of many things I suppose--first, location. Who would believe that this awesome thai place is located on a small but beautiful stretch of water in a town that appears to be about 2 blocks big? Next, prices. Lunch menu is outstanding. I got a "soup & salad" plate for $7.95. The salad? A thai chicken specialty with a memorable lemongrass dressing (a bit over-dressed, dressing on the side next time...). And for the same price I could have ordered a very large plate of a variety of curry dishes (choose your protein and curry style, etc.). A friend ordered red curry tofu--outstanding. We started with some apps--and they were fine, not great, but good-- crab rangoons and pork buns. The place was busy-- really busy, even at 2pm on a Saturday. And yep, the service was a bit slow, but big beers at a great price helped temper our moods, and overall, this is someplace I would most certainly try again...and I don't say that too often!

Came in here for a late lunch while recovering from a late night of partying. We tried a variety of things including some carefully crafted bloody mary's. The bloody's had a good dose of fresh garlic, buyer beware. The green curry had a great spice, but lacked a little on the protein. I'd be back again, especially when I need a break from white fish from the lake. ps- view of the water from the lower level seats

Awesome, Awesome, Awesome. We have a place similar to this in our home town. I wish we didn't live so far away, we would definitely return to try out the rest of their menu. The flavors they have are incredible. Not your run of the mill Asian restaurant.

An $8 lunch special with a view looking onto Betsie Bay? Sold. The food here is very solid, with excellent curries and soups, and a tasty General's chicken as well. For a nice change of pace from eating BBQ all Summer long, the Fusion definitely fills my asian food fix.

Amazing place with fantastic food and no details spared. The design of the place was uniquely inviting, the artwork and interior work was worth the attention it grabbed and the menu is a great piece of graphic design work; simple, elegant, easy to read and flashy enough to highlight the fact that this isn't a normal restaurant. The service is slower than most restaurants, but that's part of the experience, it's more about the company you're with and less about getting in and out in 45 minutes. You won't finish your drink without being asked about a refill/another, the dishes will be spread perfect and customers will be able to enjoy the great atmosphere. I tried the calamari (amazing), crab ragoons (amazing) and sesame chicken (good, but I'd get something else more unique). I tried some of the other dishes at the table, all good. There was a lot of unique beers, including a couple worldly beers on tap. During the summer make your reservations early! Don't expect to get service that night and don't be mad about it, you've gotta be on top of your game for places like this! Also-- from an inside source: if they're really busy, don't expect them to answer the phone, just call when they're less busy!

Really delicious food, prepared by a chef, to order as opposed to a short order cook heating stuff from Sysco. This is a place you can go with a vegan and a carnivore and both will leave happy. Deck is very pleasant, service is warm, great lunch specials. Yelpers who've complained because their dish was too sweet have ordered a sweet dish, I think. This is not Chinese, but true fusion. Yumm-o!

I ate sashimi and sushi here against my better judgement given the fact that it's in the midwest. I was totally impressed and didn't get sick. The presentation at this place is out of this world for Up North. I live in SoCa, and this place would fit right in in West Hollywood. Kudos Frankfort.

This is a sad day. I waited several years to eat at The Fusion. Hanging on every delicious detail of friends' meals. Reading the Yelpers reviews. Awaiting the day when I could add my positive review, too. Alas, not gon' happen. Starting with service: Lame. Our server was so NOT excited to be at work. Forced smiles, when she flashed one. Not super attentive. Moving to drinks: Hubby got a beer with about a 2 1/2 inch head. Had to go back to the bartender, cause seriously, there was about 6 oz. of fluid in his glass. Mojito was okay. Apps: Decent. We ordered the tray, since this was the Big Day. The standout was the chicken satay, a peanut curry, I believe. The others (egg roll, crab rangoon, wings, teriyaki meatball) were fairly standard fare. Nice chutney, wasabi mustard, and duck sauce for dipping. We also downed our soups. I didn't care for husband's won ton, but I loved the hot and sour. Entrees: I went with reviews. Even the menu said to try the Sesame Chicken. I did. And I think the GT Mall's is better. I've said it. And I don't feel good about it. Husband's Pad Thai (normally a dish I'd order) was heavily citrused. Pad Thai is made differently at each restaurant you go to in Northern MI. I recommend Thai Cafe's in TC for the best of the worst. (And their's isn't too shabby, actually.) Price: OVERpriced. So there you have it. A voice of dissent. But I really wanted to be a fan.

When we're at Crystal Mountain and want something different from the resort flair, we pack up and head to Frankfort for this little gem of a restaurant. One kinda expects pan-Asian food in these parts to stink something fierce, but this restaurant somehow escapes that with audacity. The location is first rate, the views of the bay are fantastic, the waitstaff is friendly and accommodating, and the food, while not necessarily authentic, is actually rather great. We always check the web site for hours, since we once learned the hard way that they were closed on Sundays. A solid choice well worth recommending, with a surprising performance unexpected of the locale.

I can't say enough about the kindness of Bobbiesee and Va, the owners. They welcomed me with cheer and fantastic service each time I visited. It's a shame I only discovered The Fusion about three months before leaving northern Michigan. I really enjoyed the Tom Yum Soup and the Chao Talay... a curry/seafood dish that just delighted me to no end. Luckily, I always had enough to bring home for a great snack later. Maybe it's because I can always appreciate a good story, but the tale of how and why this couple opened this fantastic little restaurant in Frankfort is a nice accompaniment to your meal. Ask about it or read about it in the menu. If you are weighing a day trip to Frankfort during a stay in northern Michigan, let me encourage you to come to the main drag just for The Fusion. You'll be happy you did. I mean... how many greasy spoons can you really tolerate during a trip up north? I can't wait to go back and say hi, as I never really got to say goodbye before leaving the region.

Spent a warm early summer weekend in Frankfort with my girlfriend and this was our date night destination on Saturday evening. The decor of the restaurant is very clean and nice. Almost every table faces a huge window overlooking the marina and the water. The service was fantastic - I wish I could remember the server's name. He was a very nice young man. I strongly urge you to try the ice tea, it was fantastic. My GF had wine and was very pleased. Each of us ordered seafood and we were not disappointed. The food was presented and prepared wonderfully. If you're in Frankfort and want a nice dinner out, make reservations at The Fusion.

  • Galen P.

It's a boat load of asian-like food. Not authentic, not particularly remarkable, but decent. If you want big portions for your money, you will probably leave Fusion with a doggie bag. Service is a bit indifferent and REALLY slow when they get busy, which is typical on the weekend. The host/hostess does not pace the seating. If there's a table open they'll seat you regardless of how many waitstaff they have or how far in the weeds the kitchen is. The interior is quite nice, and the view of the bay is a plus.

One of my Northern Michigan favorites! Lovely Asian food--especially the lettuce wraps. I also liked the mango chicken, though I didn't see it on the menue the last time I was there. Good service, attractive prices.

I've eaten here before and thought the food was alright but this last time I tried to stop in a sushi roll I couldn't even get waited on. I waited for almost 5 min at the hostess stand without a staff member in sight. There were people in the dining area and at the bar but not ONE staff member. I left, disappointed, and decided to call while I finished walking around downtown. Turing to my trusty yelp app, I looked them up and gave them a rang to place my order... No go. There was no answer and no way to leave a message. No sushi that day for me!

We called around 3pm to make a dinner reservation and the hostess advised that there were no reservations available for the entire evening. She was pretty rude about it as well! Too bad we will not visit this place in the future! Sweetie, I'm from Chicago and even the best restaurants will try to accomodate you!

It's very surprising to find a pan-Asian restaurant -- let alone a GOOD pan-Asian restaurant -- in this part of Michigan...but we really love The Fusion for its well-crafted and affordable food. We've eaten Japanese, Thai and Chinese dishes here and loved every one. Do not fear the sushi -- it's very fresh and good. I am especially fond of the Thai curry dishes; the red and green are both very flavorful without being overpoweringly hot. If you're a fan of cocktails The Fusion serves an interesting assortment of martinis as well beer, wine, sake and other beverages. The service is professional; and you can enjoy a view of Betsie Bay from the dining area. My only issue with The Fusion is its confusing business hours, especially off season, but that's a price year-round travelers to resort communities pay; a lot of The Fusion's neighbors also either close up shop entirely after Labor Day or seriously cut back their hours of operation. Call ahead.

We stopped in for lunch while doing the Northern Michigan fall color tour. The menu does cover a variety of Asian foods - we had a good basic almond chicken and a very good curry chicken. Prices were reasonable and the service was very attentive in this very attractive place.

Considering this gem is tucked in a small town on the east of Lake Michigan, I had modest expectations. Fusion is nicely decorated, the staff are friendly and they have some good dishes. Not everything is spectacular, but the staple foods are good and the presentation is excellent. I had the shrimp and chicken pad thai, it was not terribly original, but it was tasty and had quality ingredients. I give bonus points because the proprietor was on hand and putting her personal touch on things.

Excellent asian food is not too easy to come by in Northern Michigan, so it's no wonder that locals boast about this relatively new ('04) arrival, Fusion. I have to say that the name is a bit misleading, because, frankly, the dishes are pretty standard pan-asian fare. That said, these classic dishes are prepared flawlessly, and the menu is expansive. The sesame chicken (my unadventurous go-to dish at any chinese restaurant) really is outstanding... flavorful and not overly sweet. We came back to eat here again 2 days after my first visit, and I eat here just about every time I visit Crystal Lake. While I might give Fusion 4 stars if it were located in a big city, this is 5-star eats for ethnic food in northern michigan.

New restaurant (took over Rhonda's Wharfside location) that serves pretty good food. Basically, it's your typical "americanized asian food" that you might find at other popular restaurants doing the same thing. They've done a good job with the interior though.

I have heard about this place for a number of years and we have never made it down there until last night to meet friends. All in all it was good, but not great. We shared the appetizer sampler and everything was as I would expect it to be - egg rolls - not greasy, but pretty typical of what I would expect - same with the crab rangoons, coconut shrimp, wings, etc. The Mojitos were a little better than the ones I have been making lately so primoted me to step up my game. We had several different entrees - I had a korean beef dish that had a good flavor and the beef was very tender. My wife had one of the curries with chicken and it was very flavorful and nicely spiced. Certainly better asian fare than most of the places around Traverse City - although I wish that was saying more.... The desserts were not very good - my creme brulee had a soggy crust on the top and the actual creme part was too warm - the creme was really nothing special. My wife had the cheesecake and it was OK, but nothing all that great. So was it great - nope, was it horrible - not at all. Somewhere right in the middle - certainly not a fancy or high end restaurant and likely a little pricey to many.

I love this restaurant! They recently moved from their old location and are now located just across the street in downtown Frankfort, but in a much larger building with a fantastic view of the water. What keeps bringing be back though... is the food! Generous portions are served for a fair price, and the quality is superb. The curry dishes are my favorite and the hot and sour soup is one of the best that I've had. The menu has a lot to offer, including a well stocked Asian beer selection and a full bar. Many of the mixed drinks are garnished with litchi, a popular Chinese fruit hardly seen here in Northern Michigan - a nice surprise the first time I ordered one. The presentation is always consistent and impressive. The service has been great all times that I've gone. I just wish this place was closer to Traverse City!

Mall chinese on a fancy plate. Sure the food is presented better than any other Chinese joint in northern Michigan, but a Big Mac can look appealing on a triangle plate with fries and a garnish. The service is sllloooooow. If an area is under-served by good restaurants, then a mediocrity is assumed to be fantastic. The owners open an Italian style joint across the street that I've heard is questionable.

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city.
