Extremely slow service. There were six of us for breakfast and the place was very busy. We sat down at around 10:30am and didn't get our food until close to noon. It seems like the kitchen can't keep up on busy days. We watched another table of 6 or 7 leave and cancel their order because they were going to be late for their tee time.

This restaurant looked promising for brunch on our way back south from a week long vacation up north. We arrived around 11am and it was packed which wasn't surprising on a nice Sunday morning. We talked to the host who said it would be around a 20 minute wait for a table and nicely warned us that it would be around 45 minute wait for for food when we ordered. We weren't in a rush so we put our names down. It was more like a 30 minute wait for a table but completely understandable for a busy Sunday. No worries. The place is small, cutely decorated with a screened in patio too. A large wedding party had take over the patio so we were seated inside. Our server Matt was friendly, enthusiastic, and on top of it even though they were slammed. They have a full bar along with specialty coffees, lattes, espressos and more so it was hard to choose. We went with Bloody Mary's - which Matt mixed up himself since they were so busy - and they were great. We put our order in for the Eggs Benedict, veggie omelet, Cuban sandwich, and pulled pork sandwich right away so we could get the show on the road. We ended up waiting about an hour for our food to arrive even though the place was starting to clear out at that point. I'm pretty sure that our order was stuck behind the huge wedding party's order and their tiny kitchen wasn't able to keep up. Matt kept our waters filled and checked in with us a few times offering his apologies for it taking so long. All of us have worked in restaurants so we knew that's how it went sometimes and wasn't his fault. We saw other servers doing the same to their tables. The food finally came and it was delicious - really, really good! We left shortly after 1pm. If it hadn't taken an hour, I would give this place 5 stars. Just don't visit when they are slammed and I'm sure you'll have an excellent experience. We'd try it again!

We came in on a busy Saturday with 20 people (sent friends ahead to reserve). Unlike other places, the staff here didn't roll their eyes at our group, but greeted us with smiles and was very accommodating about putting tables together. Matt was our server and did a great job. The beignets, turkey club (with really good smoked turkey breast and bacon), Bloody Marys and mimosas were all excellent!

The Bayview Grille is fantastic! Food is great, my server Matt was extremely kind and made me feel safe. The managers are wonderful and made sure my experience was perfect. Would definitely recommend.

This is my revised review because my family said that my first review was too revealing of who I was as a human this first time I went I had an omelette I had the same thing the second time overall it's good probably the best I'm in town but I do wish it was homogenized and mixed in with me to the vegetables and not just folded into a pocket I haven't had a soda so I can't speak to that I can't wait to try the burger I'll come back and post another review after I tried the burger thanks for listening oh by the way there's this lady there this manager she's really great at least I think she's The manager she's very friendly and makes us feel welcome her personality alone makes this a four star instead of a three star review thanks for listening.

We went for breakfast. I had the Big Bayview's Omelet and it was AWESOME. My fiancé had their special of the day which was steak and eggs and he said it was great as well. The waitstaff was very quick and were on top of the drink refills. The best thing was their homemade cherry Raspberry jam! AMAZING!!!!

Stopped in today for lunch: turkey club, sassy chicken, tots and a mimosa. we enjoyed it all and were very pleased with the speed and friendliness of the service. Will definitely return.

I'll preface this by saying that we came during brunch time in a large group of 15 people and everyone loved their food. With that being said, service is SO slow. Half of our group got their food, while the other half of us waited in painful agony. We finally got our food when the first half of our group was done eating....... Giving this three stars seems generous, but maybe there was a backup in the kitchen? Onto the food! Mimosas are great because you can mix them yourself. No one in our group complained about the food - it was delicious. I built my own omelette and got it with avocado, asparagus, spinach and feta. I had the cranberry walnut toast (definitely get this bread - it is fantastic) and a side of roasted potatoes. The side of potatoes was very, very small, but I was so full from my other food that it didn't matter. The jam that comes with the toast is fantastic. I don't even like jam and I could eat this by the spoonful. Long story short, the food is great, but service is painfully slow.

The food here was beyond excellent, all around a fun experience. We ordered the onion tangle, the mussels, and a chicken sandwich to split, and everything left us wowed by way of taste and presentation. Definitely would visit again.

Eat somewhere else. Holy terrible restaurant management, Batman! Eat somewhere else. Let me start off by apologizing to Matt, our server and the son of the owner. Having served at many restaurants myself, I RARELY don't tip. However, you can blame this one on the owner..who I guess is your father. You deserved a tip, but that guy really pissed us off. We vacation in Frankfort every year. We actually came here last summer, and despite the existing negative reviews, we had a great breakfast. Unfortunately, our past experience must've been an anomily, because today we received the sub-par experience that is consistent with their 2-star rating. Why go into a long diatribe about the lengthy wait for food? There are plenty of reviews before mine that already cover this. A ridiculously long wait, and food that obviously had been sitting in the window for far too long. For food so expensive, it really sucked. What pissed us off was the owner. We sent an overcooked burger back, and when the replacement finally was ready, our table was finished eating, so we got it to go. The server promised to take care of it on the bill, and they did us a huge favor by knocking a whole $1.50 off the total (Yelp doesn't have a sarcastic font, otherwise I would've used it there). The owner came by to apologize and to let us know of his gracious discount, and we asked that either we get 50% of the burger taken off, or not pay for it at all. This guy, without a hint of apology said, "I won't do that." We said that we don't feel like paying full price for a burger that couldn't be enjoyed while everyone else ate, and this clown-shoe of a human picks up the boxed food from my pregnant wife, and walks away with it while telling our table that he will just take it off the bill. That's right. He would rather take our food and throw it out than give us a discount for food that was screwed up. Who knows, maybe it was his goal today to get a bad review and guarantee bad word-of-mouth from a family that has been visiting Frankfort for 30 years. If so, mission accomplished, sir! In the end, this review is nothing new. Clearly, Yelp has spoken, but so has the word around Frankfort. Even this afternoon, the table next to us was complaining about the wait while laughing about the fact that they were warned about this place prior to their lunch. Also, let's not forget about the three other tables that witnessed our incident and all shared our incredulous look as he grumbled away with our lunch. Eat somewhere else.

Waited nearly two hours for our breakfast on Saturday morning, they kept telling us after the first hour that the cook was new and they got slammed. They were busy, but they were only at about half the seating capacity. When our food finally came, it was cold and only mediocre. The biscuits were hard and dry. After all our complaining and their appologizing they took an insulting 10% off our food only. Needless to say, I don't recommend this place.

Yuck face. Went for breakfast, the food was inedible. Had to go someplace else to actually eat a meal. Would not give this place a second shot. Sorry - Frankfort has some great options and this isn't one.

note to bayview servers: if you're asked about the soup of the day, don't tell me the two listed on the menu I'm reading and that you just got there and you don't know what the soup of the day is! you simply say, "I actually just got here...let me go find out." should I lower my rating? bayview owners, are you listening?!

The service here is horrible! Just like everyone else has said, it takes forever for food, or a simple request for water. In a party of 4 we where seated quickly. There where 3 other parties dining here when we arrived. At no extent where they busy. After 20 minutes we finally get our orders in. By that time, we where out of water, and it remained that way. After another 20 minutes, my friend got up and took a walk downtown and said to text when the food came out. He was able to walk down to the gas station and purchase bottled water and walk back right as the food came out. Okay, we have water, we have food, what's missing? Maybe the utensils to eat the food? Hello! So at this point, why not be obnoxious to the wait staff that is standing across the room looking at their phones? Raise our hands.... Nothing. Clap our hands in the air a couple times... They glanced, but dismissed it. We have to tell to get her attention. She brings us some and says, "why didn't you say anything?" Hmmmm, maybe because it takes you an hour to even come check on us? This restaurant is awful. End of story. The staff just seems like they are hostile to each other, and don't care if they are hostile to you, the customer.

Pleasant enough staff but kitchen was overwhelmed. We walked out after 30 minutes when our food hadn't arrived. That was after the 2nd inquiry and they told us it was still not on the grill. Might have waited a little longer but had a plane to catch. FYI, we ordered simple stuff like eggs and burgers.

I go to the Bayview not just because it's at the end of my street, but because it has good food, great atmosphere, and super-friendly service. I always take my houseguests there; everybody always loves their meal.

I was fooled by the cute exterior and the sight of plenty of customers on their patio. While waiting for a table I checked in on my Yelp app and saw they only have two stars, with most reviews commenting on how bad the service was. But my husband and I were hungry and it was nearing the end of breakfast time so we stuck it out. What a mistake! There was one dirty table on the patio and when we asked an employee if we could sit there we were met with hesitation. "Uhhhhh...welllllll...we will have to clear it off so you'll have to wait." It was pretty clear that us asking to sit there was a problem. And then another employee asked us if we'd like a table for two. Again we asked if we could sit at the then dirty table on the patio, and again we were met with the same hesitant, inconvenienced response. It took forever to get a cup of coffee. And when our hobo server brought it out she didn't bring cream. When I asked for cream she said, "Well you didn't ask for it and I've been running around." I'm sorry, as a server I always brought cream with me. Or I thought ahead and asked the customer if they'd like it. And then it took forever to get our food. We noticed another couple that came in after us got their food before us. When I asked our server about it she said, "That's intriguing. Our kitchen has been all out of sorts all morning." Intriguing?! WTF?! I didn't find that intriguing, I found that frustrating. When our food did arrive hobo server said, "Oh, I bet you guys need silverware." My husband had the SMALLEST breakfast burrito we've ever seen. It might have had one egg in it, he couldn't tell. I knew as soon as she set it down he'd be hungry again in an hour. My eggs (ordered over medium) arrived over hard. No worries because I didn't have toast to dip them in, I had bread. Yep, just two slices of bread with butter on them. I had a side of their corned beef hash, which is really just a plate of chopped-up corned beef with onions and about five cubes of potato. I figured ordering the hash would be a great substitute for breakfast meat and hashbrowns. Well at least I got the meat part down pat. So the servers are slow, the kitchen is slow, and the food isn't great. Please don't be fooled, go somewhere else!

Went here for breakfast. My girlfriend treated me to a meal here, so I obliged. I was immediately turned off by the fact that I was going to eat breakfast under the shadow of a corona sign. The waitstaff was under par and more like bartenders. I got crab eggs Benedict and a side of of corned beef hash. Both had great potential, but both fell short. The Benedict seemed to be rushed together because my ingredients were barely on the muffins. The homemade hollandaise had no flavor and the eggs weren't seasoned at all. The corned beef hash was literally a 1/16 cup of onions and two potato chunks with 2 cups of corned beef. The beef was good, but but nothing broke up the salty flavor of the meat because nothing else was there. Overpriced for the quality.

The hostess was a little stand offish, and right away I felt uncomfortable. Took the waitress 10 minutes to even say "I'll be with you in a moment." It wasn't that busy. Ordered orange juice and it was warm! Who serves warm orange juice? Waited another 45 minutes at least for our food, with half the order of hash browns. I saw my French toast sitting there for 10 minutes before she even brought it out. By that time they were cold. After being out on the boat all morning fishing, all we wanted to eat and go nap. We spent a total of an hour and a half, majority of the time was waiting. The waitress was not friendly at all. Overpriced as well.

I my husband and I stopped here for breakfast and were very pleased with everything! Prices were very reasonable, service was quick and friendly, and of course the food was excellent! Would certainly return if we were in the area. Both of us had eggs, hash browns, bacon and some delicious homemade toast. I had cranberry walnut and it was delicious! Great find!

I really wanted to like this place. The waitresses were very nice, but it took over an hour to receive our food. We all ordered sandwiches, and for the price it just wasnt worth it. House smoked turkey and bacon mean very little when you pair it with bland bread and generic toppings. Cute decor, nice and attentive waitresses, boring food and extremely long waits. The very epitome of disappointing.

As other reviewers said, the service was atrocious. But we both got some delicious pancakes in giant portions, so the food was worth it.

Thank goodness I went here with people whose company I enjoy. The place has the great advantage of being in the building of a formerly solid restaurant, as well as the generous patio with a great view of the harbor. It has the disadvantage, however, of a painfully slow kitchen and actually inedible food. Our server was wonderful and attentive, but the rest of the staff just didn't seem to be able to keep up. At one point we had been waiting so long for our appetizers I heard her offer to come back and help the chef out. Sadly, he declined. We waited for at least an hour for our food. Granted we were a group of twelve, but the restaurant was far from crowded. Finally the food started arriving in waves, but it was not what we expected. The pasta was bland and really nothing special, the ribs and burgers were all charred and dry (except for the one which had been ordered medium and arrived just well done), and I had a panko crusted chicken breast which resembled a fish fillet when it finally reached me, and was sooooo overcooked that I couldn't eat it. Between not being able to cut it with my knife and the overwhelming flavor of grease, the most I could do was hack at it half-heartedly (and focus on the surprisingly tasty fries) until the end of the meal, when the waitress took pity and took it off the bill. My cousin sitting next to me had ordered a seared salmon steak without the heavy sauce it came "smothered in," and was informed after everyone else had gotten their food that one of the other servers had taken it to a different table and that there was no more salmon. The manager offered her anything on the house, and she ordered a hamburger, but it was another full 30 minutes before it was ready. Our server was visibly upset by the performance of the kitchen tonight, but gracefully apologized and said that no matter what the reason, there was no excuse. It is a new restaurant and they're still still working the bugs out, but an understaffed night should mean poor service, not inedible food. They also don't have their liquor license yet. If they were going to try our patience so thoroughly, the least they could have done was give us a drink to dull the pain.

Once of the worst dining experiences we've had in years. Out of a party of 6 for dinner, 4 of the meals were unacceptable. We even had to wait over an hour for the bad food. We felt bad for the server who tried hard, but the kitchen let her down. The owner gave us nothing but excuses - large party came in just before us, the sous chef quit, etc. Don't even bother with this place.

Breakfast & lunch are the best bets. Eggs Benedict w/ house-smoked ham, excellent housemade sausage ... and the burgers are also very good! Also, they serve proper tater tots w/ three different sauces. Service can be slow, but you're Up North ... what's the rush?

Ok. Except if you don't like sitting 45min for a burger and salad. Ingredients were marginal quality for the prices. One of the servers was very friendly, unfortunately it wasn't ours.

Slow service and kitchen. No offers for refills for drinks. And this was on a Tuesday on a non lunch or dinner time. Bad food too. The chili came out cold and the fries came out over-done.

Great space. Lively atmosphere. Had hopes for a fun lunch. Service is sloooooooowwwww. Waited forever for some simple lunch items. My BLT was simple and absolutely boring. My goodness, couldn't they at least use some local bread to jazz it up? Ran out of burgers during the lunch hour on a Saturday--hmmm? I had corn chowder that needed to be warmed up and required salt to make it interesting. My kid's mac and cheese was about the only thing that was interesting (made with fusilli) at our table. Gosh, I hope this place gets better than this!

We were in the area, and we decided to eat here. It was terrible, we waited several hours for our food to come, and then when it finally did, it was cold and unpleasantly gross. They also got my cousins order wrong. Our waitress was rude to us, after we told her the food was cold she ignored us and almost threw the plates on the table. I will never eat here again, and I got a yelp account just to dis this place.

I came to Frankfort for a work meeting, and needed to kill some time before another meeting. It's winter in Northern Michigan, so there's not a lot happening around here, but I stumbled upon the Bayview Grille for breakfast this morning, and I was pleasantly surprised. What a great spot! Jen was a delight; refilling my coffee promptly, checking in periodically, and allowing me to basically "squat" at the corner booth all morning to get work done using their wireless network. I enjoyed some delicious oatmeal (not instant!) for breakfast, and just might order lunch since I'm still here. :) Make a point to stop in at the Bayview Grille the next time you're in Frankfort or driving through.

This place was Delicious. Offering Fresh Food, Fast &Friendly Staff, and Good Times. I was on a Motorcycle trip around Lake Michigan with my Fiancee and a friend. We were staying in Arcadia, MI at The Pleasant Valley Motel and Were very Hungry after riding all day. So we rode into Frankfort, MI and ate at the Bay view Grille. I normal would check Yelp to see reviews but left my phone at the hotel. After eating there I am really surprised about the reviews. Location: Off the Harbor In Frankfort, MI Atmosphere: -A Clean and Neat exterior & Interior. With a Classic but Modern feel to it. Nice view of the harbor. Food: - It was Delicious Fish Tacos and Chowder: I had Catch Of The Day Fish Tacos w/ Cup of Clam Chowder. The Chowder was great and had lots of flavor and Served In a real Fiesta Ware Coffee Cup. The fish tacos were good not great,They were served on flour tortillas and had a little to much Slaw over powering the taste of the fresh fish. The fish was great and tasted fresh and had a nice crisp. Served with a nice wedge of avocado. (The Fish tacos would have been better with corn tortillas and less slaw. Mac & Cheese and Sweet Potato fries: My Fiancee had the Mac & Cheese. Wow! All three of us agreed it was the best we have ever had. If you have ever made homemade mac & Cheese you know the texture. The Mac & Cheese was great it was creamy and rich with lots of flavor. the portion size was so large that all three of us split it. It came with sweet potato fries dusted with a chipotle, cinnamon seasoning. The Fires were the bomb so good crispy, and flavorful. (Not greasy, and not soggy) And the seasoning wow! Smoked Rib Eye and Asparagus: My Buddy had the Smoked Rib eye and Loved it. My fiancee tried at piece and loved it. I don't eat meat so I did not really get to try it. But It had a nice smoke smell to it, and looked tender and juicy. Overall: -No wait, the service was fast & friendly. You get to watch the cooks prepare your food through a glass wall ( if you sit on the screened in patio.) The food was Delicious and nice selection of bottle beer. I would definitely eat here again

Meals here are never without incident. Either painfully slow, not right, or just plain gross. Hair in sandwich was taken back to fix. Came back missing an element, and then a 2nd hair was found!! What the heck?! I'm done. 4 chances and that's all you get.

This place isn't even deserving of one star. Lets face it... this would be one of those places you wish there were negative value stars to get your point across better. In a nut shell, the waitress was slow, lazy unwilling to even try at her job. That should've been enough to make me leave, but I thought the people filling up the place day to day couldn't be wrong... Ha!!! Was I a sucker.... The food was so horrible even my kids untrained pallet couldn't stomach anything past two or three bites. I think the town needs to rethink its touristy stops. It works enough for the one timers in, but the long run of this joint is unlikely even with the garbage eating majority.

We ate lunch here somewhat by default -- we'd driven to the Betsie Bay Inn, one of our local favorites, for lunch, only to find the inn's restaurant closed for the day. Darn. I'd heard some good things about the Bayview Grille, so we drove back down the main drag and found it -- a bright lime-green building a few blocks down. The colors inside and out, and the general decor, say "Beach" and "Fun." The menu, at first glance, seems rather limited and pedestrian, until you read a little further and notice some nice "extras": tuna sandwiches made with chopped tuna steak rather than canned tuna; mac and cheese with a variety of add-in options; burgers (including turkey and veggie) that come with a surprising selection of change-ups -- a good variety of cheeses; sauteed mushrooms in wine; other options. For lunch I ordered the tuna sandwich on the strength of the menu description; my partner ordered a burger with smoked gouda and an olive topping, and also decided to try the sweet potato tots, something we've never encountered before. I loved my sandwich, which came on generous slices of a good multigrain/seeded bread; the tuna, which tasted as if it had been marinated, was chopped into hearty chunks and mixed with onion, red pepper and lightly dressed with lightly seasoned mayonnaise. My partner's burger, which was on a lovely bakery bun, had a very pleasing flavor all by itself -- a step up from the average diner burger -- and the smoked gouda was wonderful. We were a little disappointed in the "olive topping," which from the menu description sounded like tapanade but what was just chopped olives mixed in mayo; but the burger was still tasty and above average. The sweet potato tots -- really good. (Pay attention, Sonic!) One disappointment: We overheard a conversation where the waitstaff admitted that the macaroni and cheese we'd considered ordering was in fact frozen. Still -- we're not above tricking out Stouffer's mac and cheese with creative additions at our house, and we appreciate the fact that this restaurant at least tries to make its offerings a little unique and extra-yummy even when they're "semi-homemade." My partner was also less than impressed with the iced tea, which despite being brewed, not fountain, was cloudy and tasted to me more like municipal water than tea. Our service was prompt and very friendly, even though the waitress seemed stressed by a lack of help during the lunch rush. There was a decent number of diners present on the early side of lunch, and the restaurant seems to be a popular lunch spot for local businesspeople as well as tourists. Many touristland restaurants attempt to market themselves as chi-chi bistros but fail to deliver; this place, by contrast, is a diner, straight up -- but it's a diner delivering some pleasing variations on diner food.

I'll start out positive. The corn and bacon chowder was good. It ends there. We sat at the bar inside. In no less than 5 minutes we witnessed numerous customers walk out, servers go back to the kitchen window because customers were complaining about their food, or to check the wait time because people were complaining about that. Having eaten here two years ago and finding it quite good at the time, we stuck it out. That decision resulted in quite possibly one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had, enough so to prompt me to create a yelp account just to write this review. While sitting at the bar I watched a server scoop butter into plastic cups at the speed of molasses in January. Best part was her using her bare fingers to scrape the butter off the spoon into the cups. We also heard the servers talking amongst themselves while standing around looking less than useful near the register. One complained about her 10% tip, while the other commented that was better than the nothing they often got. If that doesn't speak volumes I don't know what does. On to the food, we ordered a cheeseburger, Cuban sandwich, and tater tots. The burger was not cooked as requested and was quite pink. The sandwich had bean spread on focaccia and it was a soggy mess. The bread was soaked and disgusting and it was clear the cheese was melted and then had sat there and re-solidified. The tater tots were cold. Lets just be honest, more honest if possible...it's a hot mess. The only way this place survives is because its in a vacation town and the repeat business is likely nil.

Terrible service and very poorly run. My friend and I went yesterday for lunch at 12:45, and the place was maybe 2/3 full; not terribly busy by any means. We were seated quickly, but it all went downhill from there. I had been to the restaurant in the past, even though I had heard from family and friends about the poor service. I must have happened to get lucky those few times, because I had no such experience this time. We placed our order right away, and then our waitress pretty much abandoned us. No drink refills or anything. As it was nearing 1:45, we were getting a little impatient, so I went up and asked how much longer it would be, (as my friend had to get to work at 2) only to be told that our order had not even been STARTED yet. They made up some excuse about how there were a couple of big tables with tickets ahead of us, which was a blatant lie. No such tables had been in the restaurant in our time there. We informed our waitress that we were leaving, and she still made us pay for our drinks without so much as an apology. I will definitely not be returning, and I would be surprised if this place is still running within the next couple of years. Very disappointed.
