Great cheap beer and chill atmosphere where you can reflect upon or forget about the day. Great bar tenders. Awesome bar burger and chili. Plus they are increasing their micro brew inventory which is always a plus.

Great local bar. The food is bar food but tasty. They have pepper jack bites which are a favorite of mine. The prices are super low as well. They have beer specials where you can get a 22 oz of MI Craft beer for 5$. The burger was a good standard bar burger. Side and app portions are large enough to share with 2-4 people. They have lots of TVs for watching sports as well and the other guests are nice even if they are not rooting for your team.

This place is not near 9 mile with all the other bars. But I heard, on yelp of course, they had good burgers. So I decided to try it out. I was impressed, with the food. We ordered burgers. My friend added bacon. The burgers were well seasoned and the bacon was piled high. Enough for 2 burgers. I was shocked. We only one order of seasoned fries. It was plenty for 2 maybe 3 people. We came for happy hour so our burgers were only $4- 50 cents extra for bacon. The decor was a divey with a jukebox, old school video games. You could tell that the locals were there & they love it here. Bar staff was great & came back to check on us often. It's a great place to go and chill with friends. Drinks were a good price. I shall return!

On a chilly, snowy Sunday afternoon I took up my husband's suggestion to go to a dive bar and watch sports while eating dive bar food. Being steps from Woodward Avenue, we have driven by this little bar called Tony's Sports bar countless times. On those numerous occasions we've seen people sitting outside in the summer, tents set up on their patio during Dream Cruise, and smelled wonderful aroma of greasy burgers and fries. The place is a lot smaller on the inside than it looks outside. Paneled walls, old red carpet and heavy wooden tall top tables with thick vinyl apolstered chairs welcomed us. The day we were there, the NFL playoffs were on the 4 or 5 flat screens around the main room. There are additional rooms with video games and an air hockey table, and the bar has its own short order kitchen, which on a slow afternoon like our on our visit was manned by the bartender, who was also our server. These are the things you expect from a dive bar, and what gives these places much of their charm. I was pleasantly surprised to see a Penn State pennant up on the wall. Surrounded by lots of Red Wings, Pistons, and Lions stuff, it was nice to see a bit of blue and white in Ferndale. (Says the Penn State grad!) We each ordered a cheese burger with steak fries and a Labatt Blue Light. The small crowd that was there was friendly enough, some of them seemed to be regulars who knew the bartender well, others were probably from the neighborhood. Our burgers came and they were exactly what we expected, the steak fries were exceptional. As we finished our burgers, a large group of guys who appeared to know everyone in the bar but us came in and sat down. They were a little loud, but they were having fun. And that's how we felt. The bar was nice, the people were nice, and the food was good. For a dive bar, not far from home, what more can you expect? I'm sure we'll be back. I wish I could give a 1/2 star because while I don't think Tony's is a four star rating, I think three is too low too.

This is my new favorite spot. Seriously. My boyfriend & I go out a lot just to grab a few drinks here & there & then call it a night. We go out at least 5 nights a week at least. Both of us work in the service industry & know what we like, what we're looking for, everything. I can't believe there is only one review for this place, but then again I can. I have lived in the area a while & never knew if they place was actually open. They do have a neon sign but I guess I've just been blind. The only reason we went in in the first place was because we love little dive bars because those are usually the best & they had a sign out that says $2 bottles, so we decided to give it a shot. Needless to say since discovering it a week ago today, we've been in there 4 times already, & I presume we will be there tonight as well. We went in the first day on a sunday around 3pm, the bartender Brian, immediately got us what we needed & we chatted with him a while. It was pretty empty inside while we were there, maybe only 5 other people, but they seemed to be regulars. After being there a little while some lady came in with her dog & I fell in love. I'm sure that would turn people off in a different setting but it seemed to just fit. We jokingly asked if we could bring our dogs in one day while we're out on a walk, he said yes, but I really don't think he was kidding. We are determined to find out the truth, haha. We went in there on friday night & it was packed. I was so happy for them, the staff is friendly, Brian even turned the fryers back on so we could have something to eat with our beers while we played some Keno. I would go back everyday if I knew Brian would take care of us, after being there once he knows what we drink as soon as we sit down. Now that's dedication. If you've never been, just go. Try it out once. The people watching there is amazing.

How am I the first to review this place? Is it really that much of a hole-in-the-wall? Before I took a position at a company right across the street from Tony's in 2006, I had never given the place much thought. I'd noticed it when driving up Woodward, but it just didn't register. Plus, anything with "Sports Bar" in the name usually isn't my kind of place. But, sometimes I need a quick and easy lunch or a few drinks after work with some co-workers. I've never looked for the occupancy sign, but it's probably no more than 50 people. This place is small. But they pack so much into that space. There's the main room when you first walk in, and the bar is right there. Also, a few high-top tables. Over to the side is a half-wall separating that room from a smaller one which houses the ATM, internet jukebox (!), a pinball machine, and a video game (something utilizing plastic rifles, I think). Past the first room is an 'overflow' room with some tables in it. Usually if there are big groups, they take that room. The food on the regular menu is nothing spectacular - it's greasy, and much of it is food service stuff. But, Tony's specials tend to be great: sliders, chili, half-pound burgers. Also, Tony is almost always there, and during the day, his mom is doing the cooking. Prices are decent. Not the cheapest I've seen, but still pretty good. Lunch gets pretty busy on Thursdays for the cheeseburger special. Friday and Saturday evenings tend to get busy. They have a small patio out front that tends to fill up at night during the summer. The crowd is very mixed. You'll see all different ages and classes in this place.

I prefer a dive bar to fancy bar 9 times out of 10 so I definitely enjoy Tony's vibe. It's small, and it seems to be a hidden Ferndale resident gem. Even during a blizzard it was packed on a weeknight. You can order carryout too of their yummy burgers, fries, and jalepeno cheese ball bites. Make sure you have Tums at home if you order out from them but it's American greasy unsuspecting bar food at its best. I'm glad I live in Tony's neighborhood. I would most compare it to Sneakers - only smaller, and 80% less hipsters ;) I was slightly surprised by our bills total - it's by no means expensive just more than I imagined for bar food ...but I really don't have any complaints for Tony's and I'm positive we'll be back.

I have been frequenting this bar off and on for the past 4-5 years or so. Good atmosphere if you are looking for a place to take it easy and enjoy a game. All of the things you need in a bar. Good specials, great wings, nice beers on tap. Food is underrated, staff is friendly, I especially love the homemade soups. Always unique.

My kind of bar. Fried pepper jack is gooooood. Never disappointed by the fish and chips and the bartenders always take care of you like your family. Good pours and cold beer.

No nonsense. Solid pours and now a decent beer selection. You can never go wrong stepping into this place. I am also a fan of the menu, they keep the food simple, nothing fancy and its pretty cheap.

I have been coming to Tony's for many years. The service is great. Food is great. The staff is a lot of fun. Especially on Thursdays. I love the outside patio. Looking for a hole in the wall bar that just happens to be a place to hang with friends and have a great time-come here.

I think this place ranks up there with the best of Ferndale's dives but since it's on the North side I rarely have occasion to get here unless it's fun day Sunday and we're doing the walking tour of Woodward's establishments. All I know is they have a small patio for your relaxation, cold beer, stiff pours and really friendly bartenders not to mention that Midwest's Finest like this place so you know you're in good company.

Keep your expectations low and your inhibitions are sure to fall in line. Cheap beer. Keno. Bar stools that feel like you're sitting on a 30 degree slant. It's got everything you'd want in a dive bar. Checked this place out last Saturday and I think it's a great spot to kick off an evening to keep your wallet in check before you venture on to other (more expensive) spots.

Ahhh Tony's my corner bar. Cheap drinks, good burgers, and well within walking distance... what more can you ask for?? It is definitely nothing fancy, just a neighborhood dive with lots of regulars that come in. The bartenders are always friendly. It's a good place to watch a game without being surrounded by a bunch of d-bags (Ferndale, you know who I'm talking about). I was happy to see that they had Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy on tap when I was in a couple weeks ago. This is also one of my favorite places to head during the Woodward Dream Cruise. It far enough away from 9 Mile so it's not too crazy. Their patio in the front it great for cruise viewing (aka crazy good people watching) and they always set up a tent and do some outside grilling.

My new fav bar for tiger games. No one here is under 50, and no BAC under.20. There's a guy here in a denim jacket, sweat pants, and white hightops. He's here every time I've been here. I can't understand a thing he says.

Popped into Tony's with a group of friends after a long day looking for a drink and some grub - was initially disappointed that we weren't just going to Buffalo Wild Wings, but my colleagues were adamant that it was a good place for food. Honestly, probably one of the better burgers that I have had in a while! Perfectly cooked, not dry - just a great burger with the works. I was happy to find a new, chill place to go grab a bite to eat, especially with a great burger!!! I'm always astounded at how mediocre most burgers are! Two thumbs up!!!

Tonys!? Why not?! Its a complete dive but what comes with that is cheap drinks, generous pours and super friendly service. The owner is super nice and cooks most of the food. Its a step above what you'd expect. Good sliders on wednesdays I think? Im giving it five stars because for what it is, its perfect! Never done me wrong.
