Moy's Cafe is the best kind of typical hole in the wall Chinese-American restaurant. Which means they make everything themselves, from their eggrolls to the hot chili sauce. Two of my friends and I ordered General's Chicken, wonton soup, and Gai Kow. My friend, who eats there all the time, loves their General's Chicken - all white meat and a spicy sweet sauce. I generally eat healthier, but I found it tasty. The wonton soup is fantastic. Handmade wantons (they probably buy their noodle skin like most restaurants) and lots of vegetables. Gai kow had all white meat chicken, which costs more money for them, but the prices are super good here. Most places serve dark and white meat. The staff is pretty small, but they get the job done. The man at the counter is talkative and knows a lot about current events. There's always a newspaper to read while you wait. The older woman is pretty intense, but I grew up around people who didn't grow up in the States. My friend says she adds character. You can decide while you wait for your order. Cheap, large portions, good quality. Parking is easy and they will deliver. I would definitely recommend this place.

The best Chinese food I have had in a long time- I will not be going to any other restaurant for Chinese food after today! I had a great chicken chow mein, filled with fresh vegetables, tender white meat chicken and Not drowned in a typical "brown sauce," I ordered the crab rangoons and fell in love at the first bite- not overly breaded, light, crispy and full of flavor! I highly recommend this place to anybody who loves good quality, fresh food with high impact flavor.

This place is truly a diamond in the rough. The food is plentiful, and the prices are great! Family run place, small, but pretty clean.

I had heard that this was a good place for take-out and decided to give it a whirl. It had the look of a hole-in-the-wall type of place, which got my hopes up. We ordered beef and broccoli (requested no other veggies) with white rice, egg drop soup, and crab rangoons. The beef and broccoli came with minimal broccoli and lots of carrots and onions over fried rice. The egg drop soup had almost no flavor and was far too thick. The crab rangoons were mostly wonton and very greasy. We were disappointed and won't be back.

If you want some good General's or a great eggroll this place is not your spot. Crab Rangoon, they do well. Live and learn though, right?! I pass this place several times a week. Today curiosity got the best of me. Having seen "Szechuan" on the sign and knowing that the best General's I've had seems to come from Szechuan spots I came to grab lunch in hopes of finding another Szechuan Empire or Szechuan Canton style of Tso's. That was not the case. Moy's is on Grand River just east of Merriman. It's small, and honestly, kind of dingy. The dining room was kind of yuck with a dirty floor not likely swept in awhile, a broken front door window, a bit of an unkempt kitchen and the counter was in rough shape. For all intents and purposes I'm guessing they do mostly carry-out because I can't imagine wanting to dine-in, ever. I'm sorry to bash on this place because of the nice elderly couple running it but it's about the food and the perception of cleanliness on this one. If the front of the house is dirty the back is likely worse. Anyway, I ordered the Tso's, extra hot, with white rice. It came with an eggroll and I ordered the crab rangoon too. The goons were different from the norm. I usually see them made with eggroll wrappers but these were made with wonton wrappers instead. Light and smallish but with a filling that may have been the best I've had. $4.75 for an order of 8 very small goons seemed fair. The Tso's, however, was really really bad. This batch surpassed even my normal amount of disappointment, and you can forget the extra hot I asked for....nothing of the sort came. The sauce tasted like ketchup and I saw lots of garlic and chili flake but the taste and heat were nil. The fry on the chicken was light and thin but not crunchy. The broccoli was bright though. Still maybe the worst Tso's I've had to date while on my quest for the most righteous. The eggroll was all sprout and tasted as such but I did get two nice scoops of white rice. I came with little expectation but I can't see coming back here.

Is there a zero star place? This could be the place. What others found endearing about this place I found absolutely disgusting. Like others I went here because of the hole-in-the-wall appeal. But the moment I stepped in I was thinking turn around and run. The old lady there was eating a corn on the cob and didn't bother finishing it when talking to me and spit corn all over the place including my credit card. If you could smell food poisoning it would smell like Moy's. I ordered the General's chicken lunch combo. It was the worst I've ever had and that's including any Chinese take out place in the mall run by white teenagers. The grease in the place probably wasn't changed since the place opened. Only thing decent was the fried rice. They give you a lot of food but what good is that if you have to throw most of it away (like I did). If you are in the neighborhood take a little longer drive to empire dynasty on 9 mile and Middlebelt. That place is much better and you don't feel sick after eating their food like the way I do now as I'm writing this. In conclusion STAY AWAY if you wanna live.

Oh the food! The food! So plentiful! So bountiful! So fresh! I actually called in an order a day in advance as it was for a small party and they were ready to go, except I added a dish on the spot and that took a few minutes to make. The couple running the restaurant is elderly but work very hard. The lady has a loud voice that may surprise you at first, but it gets endearing after a while. I had 4 bags, and they couple came out and carried it to my car and even arranged it so that it wouldn't topple over as I drove! How lovely! We ordered food for 5 but got way more than that and I think in the end about 10 people nibbled at it through the night. I think my favorite was the sweet and sour pork!

"THIS DAY" By me. This day I decided to try a different carry out. This day I found that trying something new isn't always a win. The sesame chicken this day was awesome, unfortunately the almond chicken was inedible. It was dry, pieces were small, and I am convinced mine was previously cooked and re-cooked for my dining enjoyment, resulting in a plate of chicken jerky, not to mention the gelatinous flavorless clump of gravy that was really bad, resulting in a net loss of about 2/3 of the almond chicken dinner. The wonton soup broth was flavorless almost as if it was just water, but the noodles were good. The egg-rolls were not terrible. This day resulted in a net loss of greater than half of the food. My jaw is literally sore from trying to pick through and eat the almond chicken. This day is likely my last day ordering food from this place

When we are craving some greasy yet tasty Chinese Moy's is the place. Feel like I need a shower after eating but a staple hole in the wall with consistent tasty food. Same lady at counter forever.
