Not Denny's, Ram's Horn or any other diner, but leave it to Greene's Hamburgers to satisfy your late nite hunger. About the only place that's open 24 hours in Michigan anymore... and I can't say anything bad about their grease burgers either!!

Utterly fantastic. Onion rings & sliders are as good as it gets in the Metro "D" area. Slightly better than Bates.

There is not one place I'd rather eat on the planet, period. Healthy? Who gives a sh-t. Tasty? There is no equal.

Updated review: Don't know if they were just having an off night or this is what to expect of Green's from now on but the burger is nearly microscopic, onions are almost raw, and the staff seemed that they could care less if you darkened their doorway. Too bad, guess it's time to give Bates another try.

I have been going here since the 70's and it is always a treat to have their yummy burgers. Forget about the atmospher or anything else, it is about the burgers and onlons. Whenever I want to indulge, I come here for some greasy burgers!!

  • William D.

Went there tonight for the first time. Restaurant is clean, burgers had extremely memorable onions.

My review of this place may suck since I don't eat red meat, but g-d dammit...I want to throw in my own two cents! With that said, Greene's is your neighborhood, greasy, friendly-when-they-feel-like-it slider joint. I think the real reason I'm giving them four stars because it is a true Farmington institution, otherwise I might have given them less. Whenever I have friends visit from abroad, I make sure to take them here for a taste of true Americana (clogged arteries and all)! Since I abstain from beef, I will typically order a grilled cheese and fries or onion rings. The grilled cheese leaves something to be desired as its chock-full of (probably generic brand) velveeta like substance. The crinkle cut fries are amazing but I especially love the greasy, crispy, cardiac-attack-inducing onion rings. Big annoying policy alert: no free refills on pop...really? it costs 5cents per serving and its served in a smaller glass, you can handle at least offering one refill. The staff, honestly, seem like they couldn't care less if you ate here or not...they tend not be the nicest, based on my experience. But, at least, most of the regulars here are cool (especially you, Tom F!) but there are also some very interesting 'regular' like patrons that I have seen here, with missing teeth, dirty nails, ignorant and bordering offensive comments included. But I digress, its all about the sliders (or in my case, the grilled cheese) when dining at Greene's, right?!? Just order, keep to yourself, and enjoy your greasy slice of traditional Farmington heaven.

My second favorite burger of all time! My family has been going here forever, since it is only about a minute from our house. I love these kinds of burgers: nice and thin, super greasy, and a bun that is both warm and soft. Oh, it's making my mouth water just thinking about them. And their shakes are amazing. Get a chocolate one, and you won't be disappointed! Plus, they're open super late. It's awesome for when you go out with friends and are hungry on the way home. I always go either here or Taco Bell on those occasions... It's also really nice that you can watch them cook your food. But the dining room is really small. There are no more than fifteen seats, so most people take their food to go. I am also incredibly happy that smoking inside is banned in Michigan now. It saves my lungs, and I don't have to do take-out if I don't feel like it. The only thing I can complain about is the fact that they only accept cash. This is a little annoying, because I hardly ever carry cash anymore. But it definitely isn't enough to keep me from frequenting this awesome burger joint.

I tried this for the first time. The white building intrigued me and it smells A-mazing every time I drive by. We got the cheese burgers with onions and side of fries (crinkle cut! Yum!) . The food was delicious and staff was great- friendly and fast. I recommend trying this place out! Give it a shot, what do you have to lose?

  • Mel B.

fries are good, burgers are good, shakes are good....a great old time favorite for everyone. fast and friendly service....whats not to love and go back for more

The food is extremely cheap and is guaranteed to clog your arteries. Heart attacks never tasted so good!

The hamburger culture in Detroit is really quite something. As you drive around the suburbs, you see various burger joints that look like White Castles on the outside with that same distinctive white tile except they're not White Castle at all, and in the case of Greene's Hamburgers and probably some others, they are much better. I can't say that this is the most excellent burger I've had in my life, but I can say it's the best slider. Also, the food here is REALLY CHEAP. Sorry to scream at you, but I live in New York, so I appreciate a good deal when I can find one. If Greene's just had delectable sliders with yummy grilled onions on them that would be good enough, but they also have excellent onion rings. I love the bloomin onion style onion rings as much as the next guy, but it's nice to have a CRISPY battered onion ring not dripping with grease for a change that actually tastes delicious even without condiments. Most crispy onion rings have a lousy batter but not these babies. 4.5 stars!

I have for years been a Bate's fan and each and every time I was back home I would make my way to Bate's! I never ever would try or think of trying some other burger joint ! My brother in law ,a Greene's fan, would always stand by his burger! But do to the fact we no longer live in MI we never found are self's there at the same time to have a taste test. Well that all has changed this year, we where in town and the burger war came to rest. We spent part of a day driving to both location and taste testing their best. Their where four of us and we all took part in the taste off starting with Greene's. We choose cheese burgers for the testing, I'm not a cheese burger fan myself but that was to burger everyone choose! Greene's was the highest price of the two joints but also the bigger of the two. Both where made to order and wrapped in white paper. We only got two to spit four ways, not to fill up on one over the other! The vote was split down the middle two for Bate's and two for Greene's! I myself was a Greene's fan, I know after all these year of staying way I'm called to a new burger. Remember to eat well and to live well, and please NO CHAINS!

The best slider in the state, if not the world. I have friends that come in from all over the country and the first thing they always want to do is go to Greene's. Nothing compares to these sliders. Well metro Detroit is peppered with these little white boxes that produce amazing sliders, Greene's reigns supreme by packing the most flavor and being the hottest off the grill. One bite and you're hooked. These burgers will haunt your dreams and they are available 24 hours a day, so they are there whenever the hankering for a Greene's run may hit.

    (5)
  • Alan S.

I love Greene's burgers but they are more expensive then other sliders I've had.

    (4)
  • Brad O.

God, I miss Greene's. I grew up in Farmington, and was addicted to these sliders. I love how you can be sitting in your car, at a red light at 10 mile and Orchard Lake in February with your windows rolled up tight because it's freezing...and you will still be overwhelmed by the smell of beef, grease and onions coming from within this little white box of a building on the corner! I live in Chicago now, but this place will always have a special place in my stomach.

    (5)
  • Christine R.

All you have to do is drive down Orchard Lake to realize that you NEED some burgers from Greene's. You can smell the greasy goodness from the car, and it just gets more intense and mouthwatering the closer you get. Aside from the smell, the tastes are to die for. I have been enjoying Greene's since I was a kid, and know I have random cravings for it that I need to drive across town for. The burgers and fries are worth every calorie and eating at Greene's is a unique experience. Watch your food cook as you listen to songs in the juke box and talk to people who probably went to your high school. I can't say enough about Greene's.

    (5)
  • Kristin R.

A few hours after I went here the first time, my husband and I had to lie down for the rest of the day due to heartburn. We still go back to Greene's regularly... it's worth the pain! :)

  • jason j.

Very similar to (if not better than) Bates of Livonia. I know friends parents who have been eating here since they were in high school. The chili fries with mustard are must! Anything about looking for a White Castle Burger... Stop and go here or to Bates... You won't be sorry.

when you're drunk, and you need a little more ambiance then the taco bell drivethru, this is your spot. don't have more than 3 double cheeseburgers though. you'll regret it the next morning. if you're sober, its ok. nothing amazing. i love the ladies that work there.

    (4)
  • Justin D.

this place is 5 stars if your BAC is above the legal limit and a 1 star when sober....I'll even it out to 3 stars.

    (3)
  • Matthew A.

Greene's not only has the best sliders in the world, but their grilled cheese isn't too bad, either! The perfect setting for Greene's burgers is close-to, or after midnight. Enjoy!

    (5)
  • julie s.

you cannot beat this if you have been partying and need something to soak up the alcohol or the kush. best part is getting into discussions with the other patrons. burgers are awesome. cash only

  • Mike d.

Sliders! These were perfect. Juicy beef, grilled onions, pickles, great fries. Simple food - done well!

    (5)
  • Keith R.

I had a double cheeseburger and a chocolate shake. The cheeseburger was okay at best. The cheese was standard fast food burger joint quality and the burger was also topped with ketchup, mustard and grilled onions. The quality of the beef wasn't the best as it had a chewy-fatty texture and really no flavor. Overall the burger lacked salt and any depth of flavor or texture. It as just one note of grease from the beef, cheese and grilled onions. The mustard helped cut the grease but overall I didn't enjoy the burger much. The chocolate shake was very good. I was a bit disappointed that chocolate is the only flavor that they offered but that was only until the first sip. It had a deep chocolate flavor with a thick and creamy texture. I'd come back to try the onion rings and for the shakes for sure.

While normally greens would be a staple of deliciousness in the pantheon that is dining out, this last experience left me wondering why. I walked in and my order was taken promptly. Then the trouble started. The burger was overcooked to the point of being burnt and the onions were completely raw. Despite this they did not taste like onions. More like they had been flipping the burgers and tossing the onions with their flip-flops. Gross. Even more concerning though is the choice by the operators to down-grade the quality of their meat. More than once, in a single burger, I bit down on filler, that hard gross pellet like substance that is more than capable of cracking teeth. Then, and employee put Lincoln Park on the jukebox and I knew this place was dead to me. So long greens I will see you only now and memory. The facility was quite clean however which is the only reason it gets two stars from this reviewer. Postscript I'm sleeping with your brother Hunter house.

  • Regina B.

Me and my brother went into the restaurant at about 2am because if being really hungry and he said to come on in hear they have good food . The service was good and they were really nice people and also the burgers were good. And I usually do not eat meat but I went in ahead and Its not bad. Oh the onion rings was good to and I love onion rings.

This was stop #2 of a 3-stop West Side slider Tour with some fellow Yelpers. This is one of those places I've driven past 100 times and criminally never stopped in. I'm really glad I finally did! The sliders here are easily amongst the best I've ever had. The patties are sufficiently greazy from a well seasoned ancient grill. You can feel the Love, and the Tradition, in every gloriously goopy bite. And furthermore they take the time and effort here to slightly burn (not just caramelize) their onions... this to me is a prerequisite for any perfect slider. The sliders here actually remind me quite a bit of the sliders from Brayz in HP (which I lived stumbling distance from for a few years). This is a good thing as Brayz to me sets benchmark for a perfect slider. The main difference at Greene's is that the final product is a bit less sloppy/sleazy than at Brayz, and consequently I feel a bit less guilty eating it. It's also a bit less creepy at Greene's. Quite a bit less so, in fact. If you've ever been to Brayz at 3am you know exactly what I'm talking about. I think I ultimately prefer the sliders from Brayz (as well as Brayz' truly amazing onion rings) but Greene's gives them a serious run for their money. And stomps all over the West Side competition at that. I love this place. Will be back many times.

This is an old fashion burger joint. They are open 24hrs ,which makes this great for late night.

    (4)
  • Fatima A.

Definitely brings back childhood memories.. It's a small but good joint! Cheeseburger sliders are pretty on point, not overly greasy either. I got onion rings on the side.. The BEST decision I made! They were so good! Perfectly fried and got onion with every bite! Awesome that it is 24/7 I'm sure I'll make a late night stop with some friends soon!

    (4)
  • Brad M.

For those who don't know... this is not a HAMBURGER PLACE. This is a SLIDER JOINT! It's a cute tiny white building on a corner, and looks like it's been here a while. You know why? --Because it has! And it has because it's Good!! It's grease! Love it or leave it! If you are looking for a 2" patty, on a gourmet bun, piled high with locally sourced organic grown vegetables, then keep driving. This is Sliders! Grease! Fried Onions! Happiness on a bun, and the Mecca for your Hangover. These things are designed to absorb alcohol! The wait staff had fun attitude, and the locals love it! 5 Stars!

Best Late Night Food You Can Get On Orchard Lake. you Can Never Go Wrong With A Greenes Burger & Some Wavy French Fries. Small Menu, Simple, Cheap & Most Importantly Delicious. Open 24 Hrs Is A +++++++

Years ago, my wife bought me a subscription to Popular Mechanics. Inside one of these magazines, I saw an ad for a Jeep- but this Jeep was parked in front of what I perceived to be Hamburger Mecca. A simple, squarish building clad in ceramic white tile. Mounted on the side, simple words advertising "Hamburgers" and "Carry Out". I was so enthralled with this Mecca, that I emailed the editors of PM to find out where this place was. They responded and told me it was in Farmington Hills, MI. As I said, this was years ago. It's no surprise by now, but we stumbled across this shack last weekend. It was incredible. Tasty sliders, soft buns, grilled onions, and ohhh so melted cheese. Drop bit of mustard on these little pillows of beef, and brother you are in heaven. Cheap prices, grumpy service (But that's OK), and an historic building waiting for you. Go now- eat burger- be happy.

  • Daphne B.

Growing up whenever I would think of Michigan I would think of White Castle and the endless competitions of who can eat the most sliders without getting sick. Yes, I know we are a sick family. Now, as an adult I have a little better sense and can drive myself to get sliders and Greene's has some of the best sliders I have ever had. I actually drove an hour out of my way to get to Greene's this trip. I don't know how they do it. My friend says its the massive amounts of grease and grill build up but I can't get enough. Greene's feeds not only my drunk and hangover cravings but also sober trips as well. Skip the milkshakes.

    (5)
  • Helaine S.

Best sliders ever!!!! You will never eat a White Castle again! Been eating here for years!

    (5)
  • Nancy K.

A very weird last resort kinda place to find yourself at 2 am when no one else is open...

    (2)
  • Dave D.

Luv this place ... I remember when burgers were 3 for $1 ... A bit more these days but luckily they haven't cleaned the grill too much since the 70's. Great place for breakfast too!

    (5)
  • Nikki B.

Um... YES. That's all I have to say. Went here with my future step-daughter to get some dinner and do some homework. I had a double cheeseburger, she had a hamburger. I had the onion rings, she had the fries. Honestly, there was nothing bad about either. I'm still as obsessed with Greene's burgers as I was when I was in high school. The staff there is also wonderful. We even got homework help from one of the ladies!

    (5)
  • Greg Y.

My favorite slider joint. Been coming here for years and years. The ladies are nice and they're are open 24/7. Best sliders in town.

  • Audrey Z.

Perfect late night date spot. I've driven by a million times and finally stopped for a burger and a shake. The shake was huge and chocolately and burger was the perfect size for me with delicious grilled onions. I was really impressed with how attentive and efficient the three staff members were for how many people were at the counter. The classic diner vibe and retro building offers the sort of Americana charm that makes you want to leave smiling and humming an Elvis song. We will definitely be back. :)

    (5)
  • Shaunte W.

Man, this place is classic!!! Original sliders that remind me of being a kid again. Always good.

    (5)
  • Ak S.

Their chicken and veggie options were decent, food came out quick, all around good experience in the area, but I would say there are some places 10 minutes away that are quite good.

  • Adam C.

This place has been around longer than I've been alive (41 years). Since I'm from a proud redneck family it's needless to say I was raised on sliders and Greene's used to be an outstanding purveyor of grease laden burgers. However, since this last change in ownership, the quality of the food has plummeted!!! Everything from the beef they use to the pickles, to the buns, to even the condiments and the coffee, has been changed to clearly an inferior product, soooo much so that you cannot taste any resemblance between Green's and whatever this cra* is. It would be one thing to add items to the menu, or try to improve on some menu items, but switching every ingredient to substandard products is so inexcusable on every level especially since Green's used to be a staple of my diet as well as an iconic restaurant in Farmington Hills. These current owners have degraded the menu so much that they legally should not be allowed to use the name Green's Hamburgers anymore. I would teach these clowns who have destroyed my restaurant a lesson and not waste you time or your dime going there, avoid like the plague.

  • Ken M.

Got to love this place. Always open clean and reasonably priced.

    (5)
  • Kelli S.

Best hangover cure ever. Don't expect some gourmet burger here -- it's a slim, onion-loaded slider with grease galore. Make sure you pair your stack of sliders with an order (or three) of onion rings. They're battered (not breaded -- amen!), crispy, and salty. Like, the salt is IN the batter. This place is almost always busy, but I assure you: it's worth the wait. And if you don't feel like rubbing elbows with another neighbor (this place is small and cozy!), order some grub to go -- just expect to hang around for awhile while they cook your food to order (and chill out about it -- the griddle is only so big). My advice: Order extra pickles. IMHO, one or two per slider (if you're lucky) isn't enough.

    (4)
  • Julie S.

Good burgers, great onion rings! :)

    (4)
  • Chris D.

Old school simple burgers. That's what this place does. Total no frills from the outside to the inside. It's a throwback that's has survived due to the theory of "do what you do well" period. They have about 6 things on the menu. The onion rings are bangin'

    (5)
  • David F.

This place is always the same. Night or day Greenes makes me happy. Put me down for two doubles with cheese and some fries

    (5)
  • Kevin N.

The heavens opened one day, and bestowed Greene's with a credit card reader! Now I no longer need to make the shameful journey across the street to Walgreen's to use their ATM after ordering beyond my cash reserves.

    (5)
  • Sherry J.

Our family decided to do a slider tour. On my list 4th place out of 7. Good hamburgers not to greasy. Busy good atmosphere. Good size patty.

    (4)
  • Nancy S.

We went by here after reading the great reviews. We both were very disappointed in the food, the onions were burned, the buns were smashed the hamburger was greasy and no other flavor. For some reason they insist on serving the pickles on the side. Avoid this place!

    (1)
  • Amy D.

Nothing special at all. Unseasoned beef, huge buns for a slider, very unoffensive. We also got chili cheese fries which were undercooked and crunchy, lacking cheese, and canned chili. Last but not least, count your change. I watched the older woman at the counter short someone $2 in change and then told the woman the dollar bills just stick together..oops! Welcome to Detroit...that scams been played out a lot here.

    (1)
  • Sarah T.

Better than bates! Awesome sliders, really good pickles, great fries. Open 24/7 as well. Will be back.

    (5)
  • Tom F.

They now take credit cards! Still the best sliders, a good chocolate shake, and really good fries. I have enough check ins here to get free hospitalization in case I get hardening of the arteries. I call ahead so the food is ready at the carry out window. Note so self, get the onion rings.

    (5)
  • Lynnette J.

This place reminded me of Elmers in Detroit when I pulled up, but hhhooonnneeeyyy the burgers here are way better I should have got four!!! I will be back for sure!! Best silders I've had!! Service was fast and most of all these cheeseburgers were AWESOME!!! I also like the fact they are open 24/7 and they are so close to 696, Orchard lake and 12 Mile

    (5)
  • Vic M.

Makes the whole family happy. Great service. Great neighborhood atmosphere. Best sliders. Great prices. You can pay with a credit card but not tip on one. Bring cash for tip. Great place with family.

    (5)
  • Jeffrey v.

Burgers are great. I'm told because they chop their own onions. Open 24/7. Service can't be beaten. Pat and Heather are super friendly during late night shift. They also have chicken tenders, grilled cheese, but a pretty limited menu. I guess they have breakfast in the morning but never experienced it.

    (5)
  • Jeff P.

Awesome sliders. Open 24-7, except holidays. Great grilled cheese sandwich too. Pat, the night waitress, will take care of your food cravings.

    (5)
  • Arlene M.

First time here. I had the double hamburger. Ate the first one and ordered another. It was pretty tasty. It's definitely a slider but oh so yummy! Service was quick and the waitress was very informative and friendly.

  • Joe B.

I've gotta give Greene's some props for a pretty solid slider and fries although I was shocked when they told me that they didn't have coney dogs. Yikes. No coneys. Boooo! I get that it's a slider joint but usually sliders, fries and coneys all run in the same pack like wolves, dingos and prairie dogs. Still......quality eats although Bate's still has my loyalty. I think Yelp should organize a Bate's (both locations), Greene's, Telway, Bray's and Hunter House slider and fry challenge...but until that happens I'll have to do the leg work myself and make the rounds to collect them all and then have the chowdown countdown.

    (4)
  • Emily E.

This place was raved about by one of my friends. We went there on a whim and I have to admit he wasn't overzealous in his claims. Green's tops all the slider spots I've been to in SE MI (i.e. Hunter House, Telway, Lil Bros...though I wouldn't compare it to Green Dot as they have an entirely different slider concept). The burgers and CC fries were perfectly greasy and full of flavor and the cook and waitress were great. Hope to return soon and often.

  • Mussaab H.

Love this place! I was in the area for a friend's wedding and randomly happened across this place. I love dives and diners so I was immediately intrigued by this place. I strolled in the first night I was there and saw their small menu. I got to talking to the lady behind the counter and she explained how they just so regular burgers. Basically you do one thing and you do it well. I got the biggest burger they had and fries and it was good! It didn't need any of the extra bells and whistles most places need. I loved it. If you're in the area give it a chance. Oh, and they're open late. +1 just got that.

  • Nijole T.

Why oh why did I just get one burger here? The outside clearly not inviting, the inside not so much either. The smell from a mile however made me HAVE to try one, they have a walk up carry out window, I figured this would be perfect and at $1.40 for a hamburger $1.50 a cheeseburger I figured its not much wasted if its not good. Its made to order and they ask with or without, so glad I said with which entitles you to a bunch of fried onions, pickles, ketchup and mustard, I would have been lost without the onion. What you get is a greasy squished burger flattened so that the ends and cheese peek out from the bun in a crisp brown, mixed with the onion it was the most fabulously ghetto burger I have ever eaten! I had it driving to dinner and all I wanted to do was turn around and order a sack of them, in fact I thought that all through dinner, the whole night and now the next day I still want to drive there and get more and its only 8 am. Greens in the breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack anything of champions! I am forever in love, considering I've tried every fast food joints burger, every snazzy, upscale, kobe, prime beef anything, nothing will stay in my memories like Green's.

  • Stephanie N.

We drive past this place all the time and I,ve always wanted to try it cuz me and my kids looooove burgers! What a waste of time and money!! I wasnt expecting any fanciness as this is a diner/dive. I walk in and the girl taking orders looks at me like wtf do u want? so i place my order finally after she lets me know they do not have bacon lettuce tomato or mayo! well wtf? how do u even call that a burger now? We got our fries. They were the frozen kind from a bag and completey tasted like freezer burn! when our burgers came I told her they forgot the patties, so she told me to look again because they r vey small oh there i found it. It was prob one ounce of meat. Cheap soggy bun. Also while we were eating two other female employees came out from the back area to glare at me. And i was being friendlyI dont know what their problem was! Worst waste of time and money !!!! Kids just told me their soda was flat.

Love this place! My family has been going here since it was located in Detroit years ago. Come here every time I'm in town. The sliders are greasy, late night, drunk or sober goodness. The onion rings are homemade, hand cut. One of the only places I've found then in Farmington hills. Greene's is a landmark, a tasty one. And the icing on the cake, open 24/7.

I can easily imagine tourists not stopping because the place looks like a tiny little shack, but you need to try their burgers. Great.

  • Richard F.

Singles, doubles and triples. Cheese or no cheese, Fries and Onion Rings. Grilled cheese sandwich. I think that's the entire menu. So what makes this place so good? I think its the grilled onions. Yup. Definitely.

    (4)
  • Mark Z.

Greene's always has good burgers, love there krinkle french fries and employees are very friendly.

  • C P.

Burgers like they use to be! Thick shake in a real glass glass, grill greasy burger that melts in your mouth, and a spinning seat at the counter to boot. How can you go wrong???

  • Liz W.

Greene's is solid. A longtime fave of my late grandfather so I have been here more than a time or two. Overall very good sliders but not my fave in the area, they are better when you get them with heavy everything or heavy onion. The rings are very good for a slider place, thin and crunchy but it makes me all nostalgic. I used to babysit for a set of couples around the block from here. The guys would get dropped home drunk before the wives were done with their evening. Trapped at home, they would offer me twenty bucks extra pay to stop by Greene's for them and get them each a few doubles with heavy onion and some rings. For the extra money Greene's made me that summer, I will be forever grateful :).

I'm comparing this to my bench mark for all things greasy, delicious and slider-like: the Telway. Inevitably, the further I need to go, the higher expectations I have, and the more likely I will be disappointed. There's a direct correlation. I live in Detroit, soooo.... this place is quite a hike and close to nothing I normally go to anyway. The sliders: Almost dead on to the Telway, just thicker more condensed pickles. Could use more onions. Same buns, same cheese. The sides: The onion rings are unique. Never had them that thin before, so much so that the onions are practically caramelized inside. Really more like a fun-yon than an onion ring... which isn't bad, just different. The place itself: The people who worked there had better dental work than I did. Although no Hunter House in terms of classy clientel trying to slum it in a slider joint, it does serve an upper-middle class population. I assure you that you will not have any interesting conversations about how your Sikh friend is actually Israeli, or how crocodile meat is akin to sushi, or be smoked out by some really drunk people hitting on the 80 year old waitress. I also really don't like how in the carry-out side box, they slide the window CLOSED... blocking you off from sites, sounds, smells, conversations from those dining inside. You want me to tip you with the window closed? That window just totally blocks all possibility for some really strange conversation! When I go to a slider joint I go for the EXPERIENCE (and the mediocre burgers I find so strangely addicting...). No, this place is just not seedy enough to make me want to come back. Needs less teeth. 24 hours ****CASH ONLY****

I remember coming here a few times as a kid. I love it. It is still a great place to come for a cheap, flavor filled meal. Great little dive to have a tasty burger. Staff is very friendly.

Got a sac of greasy goodness. It lived up to the hype as far as I am concerned. The chocolate shake was hand written on the menu at the take out window.

I'd love to give Greene's more than 3 stars but frankly I've never actually enjoyed a Greene's burger. Hell when Bates of Farmington Hills is so close by just at 9mile & Middlebelt! However, under advisement of my Wife who absolutely loves Greene's I must continue. As Momma always said if you can't say anything nice, then don't say anything at all..... ...... (crickets chirping... wind blowing....).... Well ok, there I did not misbehave Momma. My wife loves Greene's because of the flavor, according to her one of the best things about Greene's is how they cook their onions which are thin and flavorful and they have a good equal mixture of ketchup and mustard mix. Where other fast food hamburger joints seem to be heavier on mustard. However Greene's prices are higher, hence the 3 outta 5 stars. A single Cheeseburger will run you about $1.50 each where as Bates is the same size burger and is about $1.30 and Bates you can order Sacks of 6 at a discount. Greene's last time I checked had no special Sack prices. If you drive by 10 mile & Orchard Lake with your windows down you will be surely treated by their Wondrous Odor. I gotta give em that. They've never smelled bad.

Meh. I was disappointed with today's Greene's for lunch. Let me begin by saying that I grew up in West Bloomfield; home of NO 24hr restaurants. So as a younger, 18-22 year old still living in the area, we had nowhere to go for late-nite, post-bar food. Greene's was IT. It fit the bill, but as usual, food's always better when you're 6 beers-in. We frequented it for years. I happened to be in the area for lunch today and needed quick food, so I decided to pay Greene's a visit after many long years. I ordered 4 cheeseburgers, fries and a pop (I was hungry, shut up) for carryout. First of all, the pop was 12oz, which is sad. I'm a diet pop FIEND - I need minimum 20 ounces at all times and 12oz was the largest size they had. The fries are crinkle-cut, over-cooked and under-salted. Once I got into the truck and unearthed the burgers I was beyond sadness. First of all, how on Earth it's possible for burgers to become completely mangled, disfigured and smashed between the counter and my truck (a total of 15 feet)? I had to completely reorganize my first burger. Clearly they don't care about the quality or presentation of the burger for the carry-outers. PLUS - cheeseburgers are $1.50. Lame. The toppings are applied with no organization at all - mustard all over one side, barely any ketchup, onions in a pile hanging off the edge and a hillock of pickles piled on the other side. The bun was completely dried-out - so I actually ruined the top bun on my first burger when I had to put everything back together after I unwrapped it. The patty itself was tough and not of even thickness - so overall the burger was like an emotional roller coaster - thin and mustardy for one bite, thick and pickley another, and onioney death the rest. My second burger was the opposite - not smashed, but barely had any toppings. I ate two of my burgers and decided the next two burgers weren't worth the frustration and calories, so I didn't eat them. Plus, everything was SO greasy and covered in ill-aimed ketchup and mustard that I, donning new khaki pants today, spent my ride home paranoid of greasing 'em up. Don't get me wrong...I LOVE sliders. I love a small, greasy, sloppy burger. I get that they should be messy and gross. I get that my bag should be see-through and my "window to weight-gain" after I get it (if you get my reference, you should immediately friend me)...but this was just overkill, and not worth the effort. If you give me greasy food that's good enough, I'll ruin any new pair of pants, any day, with impunity.

My dad grew up in BelAire (the neighborhood behind Greene's) and two of his brothers and sisters still live in the vicinity, so Greene's has been a family tradition for a looong time. My grandfather practically lived there (even for breakfast in the later years). I remember taking a grease-stained bag of sliders from this white-tiled burger spot over to my grandparents' house and eating them off tv trays in their living room even as a kid. As to those sliders, there's a reason this place has been around for over 50 years and has hung in as a neighborhood institution (there used to be multiple Greene's locations around, but slowly they all disappeared or got bought out for the land). Part of the reason I esteem these so highly is familiarity/nostalgia, but whenever we go back to MI we still go to Greene's for a burger, and they still hold up. Fairly thin patty, greasy yes, but there's flavor there. Onion rings are skinny and well done. The staff is friendly, and if there's such a thing as residual energy then the building is friendly too -- you can practically feel the place vibrating with all the old locals, families and high school kids they've served over the years. This is one case when I can unequivocally say, skip the chains and go local. For hanging in there so long, for becoming a local institution and for poviding my family with lots of burgers over the years, Greene's deserves a big gold star.

I swear ive been slapping myself stupid for the past two days after my first time at Greene's Hamburgers. Ive been driving past the establishment for years and never bothered to explore it. Guess size really doesnt matter...when it comes to food!! I would've given Greene a 5 star if not for the tiny box it resides in and the less than friendly service. First thing that i wanna point out is the size of the burger. After reading thru reviews i still couldnt make up my mind if i need to order one or more to fill my tummy. Some reviews called it a slider but i think its more of a junior burger size. I dont think one would be enough for anyone! The cheeseburger is absolutely fantastic. The burger might not look attractive but believe me when i say it packs a powerful punch. The grilled onions, pickles, mustard all came together perfectly. The patties did not appear to be nicely layered but all mushed up instead. Yet it did not take away anything from the flavor of the burger in general. I also tried the fish sandwich which is the one thing im least impressed. Its just a patty of fried fish between the bun. The onion rings and fries on the other hand is excellent. I love how the onion rings are coated in think crispy batter just the way i like it. and the triple cheeseburger Ellen L accidentally ate in her review was mine!

Located at the corner of ten mile and Orchard Lake, is one of the best places to get a slider in Metro Detroit. Greene's has been a Farmington staple forever. Greasy food and service is always great either inside or the carry out window. Open 24 hours, cause there's never a bad time to get a slider, and don't forget to try the chili cheese fries.

What an overrated establishment!!! I tried out the sliders here and can't believe anyone could even call this a burger. The bun was ok (not great) and the meat covered about half of it. This was the biggest joke ever. The fries and onion rings looked as if they were cooked in grease that is months old. You would be better off eating White Castle. On top of the terrible quality, the people hanging out there are incredibly creepy and the ladies working are RUDE!!! Don't waste your money!!!

The sliders are the artery-clogging burgers you hope to have. The menu is simple and the food is as well. Although, the mood of the restaurant is slow, some of the regulars decide to smoke in the corner and it is a small place to begin with which cause the whole restaurant to smell! But the cooks are nice and its open 24 hours. Go here if its 3 in the morning and you want some grub.

Sancho was weaned on Greene's hamburgers when he could first eat solid foods. Throughout his youth, the flavor-grenades of mouth-watering carmelized-burnt onions and succulent beef of unknown origin became the building blocks of Sancho's DNA. Sancho wonders if all of the foods cooked and/or burnt on the grill over the decades has created a magic surface that makes any food that touches it taste good. I hope they never clean that thing. If they could figure out a way to cook the fries on that King Midas-like grill and perfect those also... Greene's is like a beacon of truth at the absurd hours of the night when your tummy is growling from too many Zima's and all other food options suck.

Been hitting all my old places after having been living out of Michigan for quite a few years, and wow....don't know if it was just me, or if Greene's has changed, but I'm hugely disappointed. Nearly $10 for three burgers (no bigger than Telway), a chili fry, and a soda....and the food SUCKED. Virtually no flavor in the beef or onions, the chili on the fries was worse than even the most generic canned stuff I've tried, and the soda was pretty close to flat. All that for nearly twice what I would have paid at Telway? Yeah, no thanks. Ok, granted, Telway is on the other side of the world compared to Greene's, but the two joints are similar in the food offerings. Frankly, when I get the craving again next time, I'd gladly drive the distance for the Telway. Only thing that made the stop worth it was the cute and personable waitress, and really, she was cute enough that it's almost worth the return trip, lol.

Hadn't eaten at a Greene's since I was a kid. I can't remember the place where Mom and I used to go, but it was within Detroit proper. Nothing has changed except the prices. That's good. If you want a slider, you want Greene's. White Castle doesn't even begin to compare. This is the real thing.

Not being a native Detroiter, there are still so many things I don't understand about the slider culture here. Like why almost every slider restaurant is designed to look like a white box that's akin to a Chinese takeout box without handles? But the taste of a Greene's burger has led me to quell some of those questions. The most notable one being "Where's the beef?" A slider here seems a bit more substantial than ones at the other joints I've been in. There's something that's at least calming in seeing the grill goddess reach down and pull two nice, firm, red patties from the fridge when you order a double with cheese. I'm a firm believer in getting everything on mine, and the grilled onions add a nice touch and flavor. They seem to pile on the onions as well, which is nice. I prefer the onion rings over the crinkle cut fries, but I will admit the fries have a nice crunchy texture to them. The biggest downside is I wouldn't want to eat here every day, as one slider probably fulfills a week's worth of the FDA recommended allowance of grease. But still, these are better than your average sliders. Now seriously, can someone explain the white box design?

5 stars for greasy death burgers of pure oniony goodness. I'm sure this place shortens your life span considerably but the food is delicious for what it's trying to be. They're a one-trick pony really, burgers (get a couple) and deep-fried sides. A Farmington classic.

We've been coming here for 20 years. Fresh sliders (is that irony?) and the best French fries! That they have stayed in business for decades even with a McD's across the street ought to tell you something.

Greene's is a giant among burger joints. Like all the other reviewers here, I command you to get the siders "with everything" and the onion rings, wich are awesome. I've been going to Greene's basically since I was born. For christ's sake, to this day my dad still wears a Greene's t-shirt in the summer time. The people who work at Greene's are some of the most unattractive people on earth, like something out of a Bizzarre Magazine article. If you are really lucky, the old lady smoking at the grill will treat you to an extra helping of ash in your burger. The other customers are pretty curious too, especially late at night. But I will tread lightly here, because other customers might be categorizing me in much the same fashion. It's always surreal to watch Farmington Hill's finest come stomping into Greene's, grab a bunch of burgers, give a slow, hard eyeball to the customers.....then stomp back out again without paying. Here's the ultimate compliment to Greene's: When my wife and I first started our family, our first home was less than a mile from Bates Burgers. We never set foot in the place, choosing instead to go the distance every single time to get our beloved Greene's. Go to Greene's. Enjoy the scenery, enjoy the food, enjoy the ambiance. Just stay away from the bathrooms AS IF YOUR LIFE DEPENDED ON IT!

Quite simply, Greene's has the best sliders in Metro Detroit, and maybe the world. It is the complete package. My only wish is that they didn't have crinkle cut fries, but you know what, I don't even really care that much. Because the burgers are just that good. The building has stood there since the 1930's I think. They have old-fashioned counter service (i.e. no tables). It's cash only and there are no free refills (unless you happen to come there all the time, then they give you a special dispensation). They will not allow you to order if you are on your cell phone (which I love). If you're not into the whole quirky atmosphere thing, you can just get your burgers to go from their handy pickup window. I love that the staff not only remembers us, but remembers our orders. A bonus, they have a cheap juke box filled with interesting selections.

Best white palace burgers and fries in Detorit. Hottest burgers, buns have a nice level of grease and great fires. I've been going for over 30 years and can't wait to bring my son in for his first Greene's burger.

Greene's Slider Cheeseburgers are really outstanding. The buns are yeasty and delish, the cheese is generous in each bite, the onions on each tiny burger are carmelized and sliced on the round! They are generously topped with ketchup, just enough and not too much mustard, and pickle besides the major toppings. The fries are crinkly and crispy. They did not hesitate to include salt and ketchup without my asking even though everything was seasoned perfectly without the additions. Greene's makes you wanna drive 10 miles or more out of your way just to savor a real gooey - meat seared on the grill - cheeseburger.

Greene's has the best sliders EVER! And the onion rings are to die for! There's a small carry-out window on one end of the building. If you go inside, there's a counter and then more bar stools around the windows so it's a tight fit and sometimes you have to ask people if they'll move over one seat so you can sit with your party. My brother-in-law's mother lives in FL and he never gets on a plane without a bag of burgers from Greene's. Can you just imagine how that plane must smell? LOL

Every now and then I get the desire for one of those greasy little burgers from the little white buildings - not the sad imitations that White Castle's passes off, but one of the real ones - and among the best of those is that little white box called Greene's. They're pricier now than they used to be, but they still hit the spot that nothing else can, if that's what's called for. I'm not sure what it is - but there is certainly some kind of strange alchemy at work here because the total is definitely more than the sum of its parts. The bun and the burger and the grilled onions with a pickle and mustard and ketchup - suddenly 1+1+1+1=8. Funny how that works. In addition to magic math hamburgers the onion rings are always tasty too. If it's a slider you want this is a great place to get one. Or three.

Does it get better? 2 cheese with and fries. The hangover cure, the late night craving satisfied, the burger you still taste tomorrow. Belch and your friends will wonder what that delicious meal you had yesterday was. We love you Greene's.

A classic eatery straight from the 60's. You can't go wrong when all you want is a great tasting fresh hamburger/milkshake combo and you find yourself at the door of this old white brick establishment. The metro Detroit area is littered with the pre-White Castle style burger/slider joints. The south has Waffle House, Detroit has Greene's/Bates/Teleway. First up I don't understand how people can shell out their hard earned greenback$$$ on McDonald's frozen sausage-patty secretion like 'hamburgers'. What they call a 'Double Hamburger' tastes more like leftover breakfast patty mixed with rubber, saw dust, and flavorings. In a pinch it is fine and if that is what your looking for great. I am known to eat a Big Mac every once in a blue moon, but most days I'm left asking WHERE'S THE BEEF?!?! Don't you remember what real food tastes like or has all the flavor enhancements and salt killed the last of your taste buds? Greene's starts off with fresh beef, nothing frozen. The standard hamburger comes with pickles, grilled onions, mustard, and ketchup. Cheese will cost you something extra pretty much standard. It might not be as quick as McDonald's flash microwaved patties, but it is well worth the wait. You see the waiting is your food actually being cooked from fresh ingredients and not 'assembled' on a factory line. It works out great for me because I hate the drive-thru(they don't have one) and your milkshake is in your hands before you even pay. The wait is good and allows you to suck on the shake while the aroma builds the appetite. Nothing like grilled onions to make your mouth water, literally! If you are used to eating a White Castle varied slider, prepare yourself for something special. No dehydrated onions that taste like celery or soggy 'pr-assembled' buns here. Your first bite is going to be crunchy from the onion, juicy from the fresh beef, and delicious from the mustard/ketchup flavor combination. If your not aware, sliders are like mini burgers, so get more than one if your looking to fill up. I can't fluff this review up any more my friends so I will stop there. There is nothing complex or crazy going on, just honest REAL food prepared simple and correctly. These places have been around since the 60's and are just as popular today as then for a reason. They do it right! We all know and love them for it.

I just went there yesterday. The prices are pretty cheap like a veggie burger is .85! and a cheeseburger is around $1-2 dollars. Being my first time there, I didn't know what to expect from a burger that was so cheap even for a triple burger. The outside appearance - the burger was kind of sloppily put together. It had pickles hanging on the outside of the bun and the mustard was all over the place. Plus, I didn't know I was eating a triple cheeseburger since the meat looked all mushed up. I was expecting three layers of patties, but it wasn't exactly how I imagined. The overall image aside the burger itself was really really good. It's better than the cheeseburgers that you get at McDonald's or Burger King or some other fast food joint. And it's way cheaper than fast food joints, too. My favorite thing I had there was the onion rings. They were so good. I know that most of what I ate was batter, but the way it melts in your mouth and the taste is amazing. It's something everyone should try there.

GREASY SPOONS AND SLIDER JOINTS THE WORLD OVER, I CHALLENGE THEE!!! Greene's is the best thus far. I will continue to sample such delights taking years off my life in an attempt to find something better than Greene's. I dig a trio with cheese, onions, mustard, a little mayo and extra pickles. Especially good after an evening of philandering with local tail. Oh and respect the jukebox.

I have been eating at Greene's for 35 years. I love the double and triple cheeseburgers with an order of fry's. Not many foods taste better after a night of partying. Great little hole in the wall burger joint with a lot of Farmington history behind it.
