Great food in the middle of no where. Looks a bit hodge podged together. Owner was super nice. Proudly offered us samples of his soups and fish. Fast orders. Chicken and baked potato soups were homemade and tasty. Mahi Mahi fish tacos were fresh.

I would not recommend this place. If you are going to have a "Farm Stand," in Empire, it shouldn't be stocked with things that were clearly NOT grown in Northern Michigan. Like Lemons. Which don't grow here, ever, even if you have a greenhouse. There are plenty of real farm stands around the area that actually sell what they grow, and this is not one of them. It's insulting to the local farmers, and false advertising. Also, it's kind of creepy to have a room with bunk beds in the back of the store directly open to the rest of the business. Do they live there? Is it also a rental property? It's a little bit strange, especially in a venue that serves food. I wouldn't go back. The place is cramped and it seems like they are trying to do too much in a small space. There are better shops for coffee and sandwiches around the area, and they don't have bunk beds!

An eclectic mix of items in this restaurant/shoppe/farmers market. Don't let the mixed messages confuse you and just order the comfort food and get out. I thought the food was very good and different, my husband was too perturbed by the inside to really enjoy it. In the end this review is for the food, not the atmosphere.

One word. Hospitality!! We were looking for a place to stop for a coffee and stumbled upon this place. I am glad we did. The owner and his cashier were amazing!! They hooked us up with some free samples of their food, which were very good. My son wanted to throw some rocks that he had picked up at Lake Michigan until the woman at the register offered to draw faces on them. These were not just smiley faces, one was a detailed face and one she made into a dinosaur. She even drew him a snoopy on a napkin. We were really happy that we stopped and will hopefully be back to sample some of their breakfast and lunch options!!

Chef Jeff makes a big effort, giving a new meaning to the term "comfort food." We enjoyed his soups and chicken, but I have to give a big thumbs up to his herbed butter that you can take home in frozen logs to make your own cooking special.

Stumbled upon this place after the sleeping bear scenic drive. I had a great turkey sandwich and my wife had the same, minus the bun for gluten free purposes. We both came away very impressed by the service and the quality of the food. I would definitely recommend checking it out if you're in search of a nice breakfast or lunch meal while taking a break from the dunes.

Had a great Cubano sandwich! Came with a cup of tomato basil soup that was excellent. Owner was very friendly a welcoming. If ever in Empire and need a good sandwich this is your spot.
