Hands down the best bakery around! Professionally at my job as a restaurant manager in Birmingham I did business with East Detroit bakery. East Detroit bakery supplied all of our bread and baked goods for the restaurant :-) always awesome on time and perfect! I have since left that position and own my own business in Detroit. I love going to East Detroit bakery I routinely stop in and get donuts, rolls and croissants yummy! The customer service is outstanding everyone greets you with a smile they're always happy to help you with anything!

after reading the reviews about the unfriendly staff I don't feel so bad. went in yesterday to buy paczki, I had heard that they were really good. called a week prior to place an order, was told I didn't need to because they never run out. drove down from imlay city stood in line, the woman that waited on me told me they were out of the ones I wanted. I tried to explain what I was told on the phone. and she promptly said if you are going to be a bitch about it than I will go look in the back. well as a first time male customer I can assure you it will be my last.

An Eastpointe institution, :), there's something about the subs here. Is it because the meat is in proportion to the fresh roll it's put on & you get some in every bite? IDK, they don't look out of the ordinary, but every time I eat one I'm like, "dang, you should eat one of these every day, :) ". Strudels were on special and I barely got out of there without a couple and I'm sitting here now thinking I should run back up there & get one for breakfast ... these are big strudels, like a foot long, :). Great neighborhood bakery/deli, offers coffee & seating if you can't wait to get your fresh bakery treats home, ;) ... deli counter has all the basics and don't forget to get your paczki here! Two thumbs up, :).

East Detroit Bakery and Deli is slightly pricy as far as baked goods are concerned, however, the few items that I have tried are definitely worth the cost. I've had their lemon bars, and they are the perfect balance of sweet and tangy, and their raspberry truffle brownies, and oreo brownies are to die for as well. Although I have never tried them myself, I've heard great things about their event cakes. When in the area, and having a sweet tooth, try them out!

Great bakery! I'm supper picky about baked goods, I've never been a fan of bakery sweets or cakes. I've been in a handful of times for bread and lunch meat. The bread is great, my favorite is the buttermilk rye. The sub rolls are awsome, soft and chewy and not dense. We've tried a few different desert items each time we've been in. My family and I have loved them all. My favorites have been the almond pretzel things, and the brownie cheese cake..omg so goooood. Kids loved the mint chocolate chip moose.

I've been going to the East Detroit bakery since I was a child. I can't tell you how much I love this place. I recently ordered a cassata cake for my mom's birthday and they did a fantastic job. Even though it's out of the way for me, I would travel here just get those sprinkle cookies I loved as a child. I highly recommended this bakery.

I grew up in ED, and my parents always made sure we stopped in here for some fresh breads and donuts on a regular basis! When it was time for my wedding, I wanted something different and very very yummy, and not being in the poor house trying to pay for a cake! 5 years later I STILL get people telling me how great the cake was at my wedding! The staff was very helpful when it was time to order. They even delivered and set up on a SUNDAY! (That was very hard to find!) The cake was moist, mouse filling was great!, butter creme was perfect! I still go back every year on out anniversary to get a small version of our top layer made! I don't know how their breads are now a days, but when I make my trip down here it is always busy, and smells amazing!

1st thing you will notice is the super friendly staff. They greet you with smiles and a warm hello. 2nd is all about the donuts. Honestly the best donuts around. I am in sales and constantly bring donuts to my customers. I would normally go to Dunkin, Tim Hortons, Looney Baker in Livonia, basically the closest donut shop to my customer that day. One day I picked up a few dozen from East Detroit Bakery and went about my day. From that day on my customers started requesting East Detroit Donuts. I was shocked, no one ever said oh Tim Hortons or Dunkin is better then the other. But once they tried East Detroit Bakery nothing compared. From that point on, East Detroit is my first stop of the day.

Love this little place!! They have muffins, donuts, bagels, and just about any baked good you can think of. I've had a great variety of what they have to offer, and I'd say their only weak point is the small cookies. I haven't had the larger ones, but the smaller ones are always a little dry and just....missing something. I can't place what it is, but all of them seem to be like that. They also have coffee, milk, and deli meats and cheeses. It's quick, convenient, very reasonably priced, and everyone working there is always friendly.

The actual food is not the problem here. The issue is the consistently unfriendly girl behind the counter. I used to shop here daily, it's right by my house, but not anymore. There is a girl behind the counter that thinks she is better than the customers. I will not tolerate being talked down to by a girl that sells doughnuts for a living. Not gonna happen! Now, because of her, I will never walk into this bakery again. If I was the business owner, she would be promptly replaced by someone that is cut out for the job. Julie just cost this business $400 a month from 1 customer and only God knows how many other customers feel the same.

This is probably one of the best bakeries in metro detroit. It has been around forever and hopefully it stays that way. They would be smart to get a new sign, serve specialty coffees, and do a little advertising to bring in a younger crowd.

Used to think this was a good bakery. I looked past the bad attitude behind the counter because of the bumpy cup cakes. Last time I was in there was the very last time. I was completely ignored as the counter help took two people who came in after me before me! Wtf? They completely ignored me like I wasn't even there! Even when I sAid a "excuse me please". I was ignored. The visit before that I was over charged over $5! Didn't realize it until my boxes of treats got to their location. The time before that, the poppy seed cake was so dry it was inedible. Ignore this place. Not worth the time, food or money.

Good stuff. A nice variety of donuts, cupcakes, cheesecake, cookies, etc. I think they have everything except bagels.

Used to rave about this bakery. But they taken their price list down,(I inquired, and was told that they run so many specials that the list wasn't reflective of the true price) A big "Thank You" to our legislators in Lansing!. So you just have to ask. The quality of the baked goods (donuts) has gone down, but the cakes are still really good. The lack of a price list had me try some other bakeries for donuts and I found another bakery on my driving route that has much better donuts.

Really good place. Lot of sweets and treats! They have the bakery section, and they also have a lunchmeat counter, milk and pop etc. You can get anything from a single donut to a special cake baked just for you on order. Nice counter service and I never had anything from here I didn't like

What I can say about this place is that it is cheap. I paid 4 bucks for a sandwich. The sandwich was good. It was not great. The quality of the meat was not like Zingermans in Ann Arbor, but it was also much better than Subway or Quiznos. Plus, it was only four bucks and it was a big sandwich and well worth the money. I will definitely come back here when I want a quick bite, but I won't skip eating at home to go back. The place lacks ambiance, but has good smells (being a bakery) and has a friendly staff. Not to mention it is a bakery and I did not eat any sweets, as good as they smelled. I have a feeling that if I had eaten a dessert, I would have given this a higher rating.

One of the many hidden surprises in Eastpointe, its in a blink and you might miss it location, so make sure to keep your eyes open. This place has everything you could imagine for such a mom and pop place. I love to get a sandwich for lunch here. You get top of the line deli meat, with premium cheese lettuce and tomato on various types of bread for $4. Yes thats right $4, i mean you can't even get a gallon of gas for that much. Then to the desserts, if you have an upcoming birthday get your cake from here, the buttercream frosting, the moist chocolate cake, everything about their cake says perfection. Don't need a cake then try a slice of one, or a cupcake or one of their cheesecakes that is delish. All and all this place gives you a ton of food for a cheap price, and on top of it good food, this isn't Taco Bell people. This is a must visit if you're ever in the area.
