This is definitely a family staple for the area. The key word here is consistency. Yes, their waitstaff is a revolving door. And yes, there is nothing healthy on the menu. But if you're looking for old school Italian with Detroit Style Pizza and an ample bar this is where you want to be. And btw, nothing is better than that whipped cheesecake.

A few weeks ago, I was riding in the Gratiot Cruise & I stopped in for some of their famous square Pizza and Italian Sausage. As sponsors of the Eastpointe Cruise, they actively support the annual rolling car show as it passes right out in front of their business. As such, they had the aforementioned pizza and Italian sausage available, as well as Faygo soft drinks. Also available were the event T-shirts and hats. It's great to see the local businesses supporting this annual event, which benefits the community as a whole. 'Hats off' to Cloverleaf!

If you know the history of Cloverleaf, you know that Gus Guerra got his start with the Original Buddy's! Cloverleaf is among the best Detroit-style deep dish pizza. The service is always great, and the pizza is always hot and fresh. Make sure you try the famous "crunchy bread"! It's a sweet and savory treat with your pizza and salad meal. This is a great place for parties, rehearsal dinners, or just a great night out!

What can you say about the originalpizza it's incredible thick perfect crust pizza is the best in Detroit by far. They taught buddies pizza how to make pizza ...... Their sauce , Cheese, all their toppings are great quality ....just love this place nobody makes a better pizza.....

Nice service but the pizza was mediocre and doughy. I really don't see what all the fuss is all about unless I chose to go on an off night. My recommendation is to keep up the good service and improve what is supposedly a great Detroit style pizza.

This is one of our family favorites. Amazing Detroit style pizza, along with a variety of other Italian (and Italian-ish) dishes, served by smiling, friendly servers who really want to make your visit extraordinary. Still family owned and operated, they mingle with guests and ensure that everything is ideal. I LOVE the sweet flatbread in their bread basket- it's complementary but still adds an extra degree of yum to set Cloverleaf apart. They have a full, huge bar and gluten-free options. If you're looking to feel like family, I can't recommend them enough. (Deducted one star because they were SO popular & busy that our server seemed overwhelmed. Also, the marinara sauce is a bit too sweet...both minor complaints.)

What a place. It's like little gem stuck in a piece of poop. The pizza is phenomenal. This place has the best pizza I've had in a while. I asked for it with green olives, feta, and pepperoni and these guys nailed it. I like the cheesy fake Italy bullshit decor they have too. The service was zippy and she had some sass to her. I like that. I'll be back, Cloverleaf. Thank you for your time.

This is what Detroit style pizza is all about. There's nothing better in the Metro Detroit area on the the Eastside.

Decent food, hit or miss service. I've had great service and horrible service here. It's a family owned restaurant and they seem "too nice" to their employees. Bad waitresses don't seem properly trained or disciplined, and they stay employed way, way too long. Their pizza, salads and crunchy bread are all good, but it's not traditional Italian. Their sauce is very sweet, as are their bread sticks. Some people dig it, some people hate it. I happen to like it. That said, everything else on the menu is very mediocre. It's mostly frozen/boxed italian, and it's not even quality frozen/boxed Italian. They must get their ravioli from GFS or Lapari, Turri's has a much better product. If you want quality Italian I would skip this place. I don't like Olive Garden, but Olive Garden is better for pasta. However, if you want a good pie, nice crowd, and nice atmosphere, and you don't mind being patient or dealing with hit or miss service, stop in. I do generally enjoy myself here, and the prices are very reasonable. A small pizza is $8 and it can be shared, especially if you get a salad to go with it. It's 4 big pieces. A large will only set you back around $15, which isn't bad at all for its size.

Reasons to eat here: *Delicious square deep dish pizza with REAL CHEESE *Antipasto salad filled with premiun salami, ham and cheese *LONG ISLAND ICE TEA *Sweet bread Honestly in 10 plus years I've never had a bad meal and when I just can make up my mind I let Michelle choose my dinner.

Not only did I work at this place for five years, but now I'm a regular customer. The food at this place is worth the calories. Even though being at this place for ~40 hours a week for 5 years, I have never gotten tired of their pizza or the general atmosphere of the establishment. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the Metro Detroit area.

The low rating is due to not ordering the pizza and the bad service. The three others in my group ordered the pizza and it was great as usual, but I desired something other than pizza and ordered the ribs, what a mistake! Stick with the pizza, they really can't make other items. The soup was greasy, the ribs tough, dry and I wouldn't be surprised if they were frozen and micro'd. The baked potato was hard. Our waitress kept disappearing for long periods of time, and no they were not busy, so I couldn't even point out the problems to her. When she finally did return it was with take home containers. I mentioned about the problems with my uneaten food and she shrugged and walked away. Of course couldn't find the manager either. Good pizza, but don't come here unless everyone in your group is having it!!

Love their pizza, when it's good, hit or miss...oh the sweet crunchy bread is music to my ears. Servers are either great or terrible. Been going there for decades. A lot of great memories in Cloverleaf. I was so happy when they opened one on 22 & Hayes, because this location is down right frightening. But thank you for making a yummy pizza. For selling Buddy's and now Detroit Style pizza. All so addicting and delicious!

A must have Detroit Pizza Experience. No two ways about it, if you know what Detroit pizza is all about, you should get to know Cloverleaf. It's been here forever and it is one of the definitive deep dish square pizzas around. I can't speak to much else about the place because even though I know they have a full menu of Italian classics, i've only had the pizza. One time I came in for lunch and had the buffet they had set up and just had pizza. So pretty much.. get some pizza. Staff is cool, always an owner somewhere mingling. Lots of regulars, a huge bar and no long wait times for your food. Oh, try the salad too, it's pretty good but I can't remember it after 1 bite of the pizza, it's that good.

Always a good pizza at Cloverleaf. Appetizers are excellent too. It's a favorite place to reunite with old friends. If you haven't been here, you need to make it a "to do!"

We had a very nice lunch as they have a good and reasonable lunch buffet. However, as we were finishing our meal, an older woman (whom we perceived as the owner ?) came into the dining room and went over to the bar, began chastising an employee very loudly about some dripping faucet, then she went into the kitchen and continued yelling within hearing distance of us with no regard whatsoever if customers could hear. I have been subjected to chastising such as this by management/owner and I felt very uncomfortable and upset for the employees subjected to this abuse. -sooooooooooooooo embarassing and unprofessional , sounded like she was blaming the staff for some ongoing drippy faucet in the bar-WHY NOT CALL A PLUMBER-#just sayin'

I will admit, this review is based only on my carry out experience, but I'm looking forward to returning. Saying this place was packed on a Sunday evening around 7pm is an understatement! It reminded me of the subways in New York, folks being shuffled in and out through a small crowded doorway. To the right there was a huge bar area with a number of tables and dining areas along with a pizza buffet that puts CiCi's pizza to shame (which isn't hard to do). The baked chicken and pasta I ordered was good with a little salt. The portion was enormous, but even what I warmed up the next day was good. Italian food is my favorite, so I'm looking forward to sharing my dine-in experience soon.

Good Detroit style square pizza. The have a decent house salad as well. I tried the nachos before and the cheese sauce looked coagulated and the kind you would get in a cafeteria. Stick with the pizza and a salad and you'll be fine.

  • Joe E.

Huge fan of the pizza. Love the crispy crust. My perfect order from Cloverleaf entails a large pizza with pepperoni, spinach, and tomato. They use thick slices of tomato and it makes for an awesome combination of flavors. Also, you need to try the antipasto salad. It is unreal. The chick peas make a nice addition. Love getting a salad with bread. Excellent!!!!!

One of the original "Detroit Style Pizza" joints, and it used to be one of the best. What happened? I remember the first time that I went here and I was overwhelmed by how fantastically good the pizza was and now that's just a ruined, ancient memory. The last few visits have been atrocious! Busy or not, our pizza has been raw and doughy and our servers couldn't have cared less. There's nothing worse than having bad pizza, except for maybe biting into a piece of chicken and realizing that it's raw/. And while this may sound dramatic; my reaction to both is about the same. I guess I just hold my expectations of pizza that much higher than most. But really, there's no excuse for serving under cooked food. Pizza isn't hard, but you'd think that Cloverleaf was still trying to figure it out, even after all of these years. I drive by this place quite a bit and the parking lot is always packed, but the memory of my last visit, biting into that doughy deep dish, is all too haunting. I will not be back, so I guess I'll never know if they've figure out how to fully bake a pizza again. What a shame.

My husband and I decided to celebrate our anniversary (37th) here. We usually go to Andiamo's or other upscale restaurant, but decided to try the Cloverleaf since we always love their lunch buffet. We were not disappointed! Danielle, our waitress, was excellent and visited our table often and made an excellent suggestion on wine. My husband ordered Chicken Marsala...very good, tender and wonderful sauce. I ordered the pasta entrée where you "build" your own pasta plate with choice of noodles, sauce, etc. My entrée was as well excellent and BIG! You have your choice of a dinner salad or soup, too. I chose the dinner salad and it was a large serving as well. We also ordered a small supreme pizza...DELICIOUS DETROIT style as usual! Just love the sweet crust and that sauce on top of the cheese. If anything, the pizza is a must have if you have never stopped in at the Cloverleaf! Sweet crunchy bread in breadbasket was a nice treat, too.

I've eaten here a few times, but I've only ever had the pizza. If you want quick food this is probably not your best bet as they even tell you on the menu that their thick pizzas take longer and you should expect at least a 20 minute cooking time. The staff is normally friendly, but it can get a bit busy and they might not be right on top of your refills. The pizza has always been excellent when I've had it! A nice crunchy crust and a ooey gooey cheese coating a pizza dripping with toppings. It's flavorful and wonderful. Try it!

First time there.. Looks like a miss match of chairs and furnishings. The staff was slow and food was very slow getting to the table. Waited for over 45 minutes for our pizza. I have to say the pizza was really really good.

Best pizza around great service really nice place to sit down and have dinner with the family or get some food at the bar, all round great place. I recommend their pizza or veal parmesan. Can't get enough of this place.

This is the best Detroit style pizza you can get. I grew up on the east side and we always used to come here. We would also go to the original Buddy's, Loui's, and all the other delicious pizza places. This one is still my favorite. I have never had anything other than pizza and salad so I can't comment on the rest of the menu. The antipasto salad is REALLY good. I recently took my fiance here when we were in town for Christmas, and he didn't even want salad at first. I talked him into it and he ended up eating a TON of salad. The dressing is just lovely and all of the ingredients are super fresh. Go here, get the pizza, be happy!

This place will always hold a place in my heart. The food is amazing for Italian food. Pasta here is just like what my dad use to make. The pizza is worth the money hands down. The honey bread was delicious and crispy. They did a fundraiser for one of the staff members who lost her mother to a drunk driver. I've never been to a place that cared that much for their staff. I feel like they were a big family and I was apart of it while I was there. Just the best experience I've had in so long.

65 years in business, doing everything right , firing on all cylinders! Of Course 'Detroit Pizza' is so good & at times subjective .. but Cloverleaf is one of the best! The Sauce & crust are the bomb diggity..and the friendliest staff + Marie on Gratiot [ just like the villa] The weekday buffet is worthy of your time daily from 11am -1pm

Best pizza ever. Good quality ingredients makes a light crispy crust. Their special bread is a sweet parmesan, that is kind of different but very addictive.

Went for dinner with family. Sat in the bar area. Place is huge, so don't be worried if you see a full parking lot. Pizza was, meh. It wasn't cooked all the way through - doughy, even though the bottom looked burned. Can't say much for the sauce as well. Pasta was good, but it was obvious the asparagus that came with it was from the can. Perch was dry. Salad was very good, this why I didn't give the place only one star. Atmosphere was good, but if you don't like loud don't sit in the bar side of the place. Service was very slow. I wouldn't say don't try this place, but I might try something else first.

This used to be my go to place for Za. The last 3 times I was there the pizza had to be sent back because it was raw in the middle. First time it happened we figured it was because they were busy and just tried to get the food out. 2nd time we thought it was because we had a large. 3rd time....there were no more excuses. I've never had any other meals besides pizza here. I've heard their pasta is good, but sadly, I don't think I will be going back to try them. Shane too, I've been coming here since I was a kid.

I cannot believe I've gone my whole life living in MI and never knew about this place. I happen to catch the news early last Saturday morning, they were telling the story behind Buddy's and Gus. So glad they did the report ! We went the next day and were so impressed. Nice , clean restaurant with an old school feel, friendly staff and the salad and pizza were excellent!! We will make the trip to Cloverleaf instead of buddy's from now on. I recommend you bring a sweatshirt though- it was so cold I had goosebumps the whole time!

I'm often asked why I stay in Eastpointe. Simple, Cloverleaf! :) Did you know they offer a Sunday brunch/buffet? I did not and decided to give it a try. Not only do they stock the buffet with a half dozen or more selections of their famous pizza, it also includes Italian sausage, ribs, pasta, vegetable, redskin potatoes, salad and desert ... all for under $9 (at the time of this review). The ambiance is great and there's plenty of friendly, courteous staff on hand to ensure a pleasant dining experience. Two thumbs up! I'm a fan, :).

Went again for dinner with a group of 11. No wait on a Monday at around dinner time. I got the lake perch, which comes with two sides, because I don't care for the pizza here.. I chose the macaroni and cheese and the vegetable (which turned out to be green beans). The lake perch was about $15 and came with six or seven decent-sized pieces of fish. The fish seemed to definitely be fresh, and was pan fried with minimal grease -- it tasted really good. The tartar sauce seemed to be out of a bottle, but I'm not picky about that. The macaroni and cheese was a fair size, but it was about I expected it to be... eh. The green beans were green beans... simply steamed and served in a little dish. The service was pretty good, and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Still not a place I'd likely choose to go to, but I was surprised by the lake perch, and everybody else seemed pretty happy with their meal. It's probably worth letting you know that the toppings here are an absolute rip-off ... on the pizza that the others chose, it was pepperoni, onion, and green pepper. Each topping is $1.75 or something like that on a large pizza (After the first one, I think), which is bad enough, and there are just paper-thin slices of the vegetables... what a rip. There was some left over, and when we got home and opened the box, the bottom of the pizza was slimy with orange grease. Mmm... appetizing!

BAD MANAGEMENT GREAT SERVER Experience tonight was wonderful from wait staff Tiffany, ALTHOUGH pizza was very under cooked, Tiffany was very willing to take it back and have a new pizza cooked (cheese, pepperoni, bacon, garlic, green pepper and onion) , per our original order. Tiffany did speak with management (GINNY). We never got a visit to our table by management (Ginny) until a new pizza was being made, Not a sorry, we have a new cook , or oh my gosh we're soooo busy. Just told by "Ginny" manager " I personalty watched the cook ( a different cook) make your pizza'. CLOVERLEAF you really need a manager that is there for the customer ( that is what pays the bills). Not to socialize with which seem to be her friends. Focus, should be on the day to day customer. MY WORST VISIT EVER..... THANK YOU Tiffany only because of you and you wonderful service my family and I will return to give Cloverleaf another chance. Kerri AKA KDD

Odd. This place is definitely odd. Mostly bar and then restaurant for drunk people. The first indicator of lush food was the loud grandma behind me ordering an iced tea. When the server asked sweet or unsweet she replied, "long island". If you go here expecting heavy pours and mediocre greasy food to keep you from getting too drunk too fast this is your pre-party place. The pizza is the best thing here. Assembled deep dish Chicago style. Sweet crispy crust, oozy cheese, and perfect little pepperoni saucers filled with their own grease. Go for the booze and pizza. Skip the rest.

The pizza is outstanding here! Something about it tastes so different than other pizza. They pile on the cheese and the pepperoni are crisp like I like em. Their salad is very good as well , and in my opinion even better than Olive Garden!

I lived around the block from here for 20 years, but only went a few times in elementary school. My family has always been loyal to Buddy's for Detroit pizza. I went the other day for a square pizza and salad and was really impressed! I could have been saving time and gas by going here more often.

  • Laura J.

I don't get the good reviews for this place. Pizza is below average, crust is rarely cooked enough, and waaay too much sauce with not enough toppings. Service is hit or miss, more miss than hit. Our last visit was my last visit, between mediocre pizza, poor service and the loud obnoxious group we had the misfortune of sitting across from, I'm done. I can find better pizza, service and atmosphere elsewhere.

    (2)
  • Tony S.

Lately the service here has improved. It was never bad to start with but they seem more thoughtful, attentive and flexible. I remember in earlier reviews some people mentioned that the dough was a little under cooked. Someone I was with noticed this and they thought the bottom should be more crispy. I achieved a crispy bottom in my oven with the leftovers the next day. 4.25 Stars

Katia is right! I would argue that Cloverleaf has the best square pizza in the state: never short of toppings, sauce, and the price is unbeatable. I have and would still drive 20 minutes just to get to this place! Pizza's not the only thing they do; they have a full menu actually. I've tried most of it, and I can say that they put a lot into their food, especially for a "bar". (if you could call it that. It's equal parts bar, lounge, and restaurant. A lot of "bars" have only sliders or frozen snack foods... but not Cloverleaf.) I'd get the fettuccine alfredo if I weren't in the mood for the pizza. Or just... you know, get the fettuccine AND the pizza. Anyway. It's a great place to have dinner and possibly a drink or two. (Tap drinks are dirt cheap!) it'd be a great place for a laid back evening.

Solid family pizzeria!! I thought for sure with a Tiger game on & the fact that we had to park a mile away we would have to wait to be seated, but Cloverleaf is huge! We got a booth in front of the brick fireplace with a big screen where we had a perfect view of the Tigers sticking it to the A's. The 6 dollar pitcher of Bud Light got this dinner off to a great start. We ordered the small Antipasta salad with the usual suspects and chick peas with some pretty good green olives. I'm glad we ordered the small for 6 bucks, it fed 2 adults & 2 kids with some left over. The bread basket we received was a treat as well. Sliced Italian bread, whipped butter & a delicious homemade bread stick with Parmesan & sugar baked on top. We ordered a square with pepperoni & it was delicious. Crisp corners with just the right amount of sauce and cheese. I could compare everything we ate to somewhere else but put everything together & you have one solid family pizzeria with a bar atmosphere! Every single server in the place was on the top of there game like worker bees in a colony! We had a great time & for the price this is a new go to place for pizza. So hop on 696 to Gratiot & check out some "Eastpointe Pizza"!

I have been here multiple times. They have good food and good service. The pizza is good although sometimes could use a few more minutes in the oven. I love the stuffed shells. Sometimes I just go here for the crunchy bread it's like no other bread. Save some room for the whipped cheesecake you'll enjoy it. Roomy bar area and always multiple bartenders so you don't have to wait long to get your drink on. See Drew at the bar have some drinks, eat some food, watch a game, and play some keno. He will take great care of you and your crew.

Best Pizza! Going to Cloverleaf has been a tradition in my family for years. For Birthdays, Showers, or just dinner and lunch. My friends didn't believe me how good it was until they came along and tried it too. Well.. I feel it's better then Buddy's and glad they have great service and have had great food for years.

This pizza is probably the best I ever had. I love the deep dish here and the service is always good. I have been eating here for years and finally decided to try some other menu items. To my disappointment, it was comparable to eating at a Big Boys. The spaghetti my friend ordered tasted as if if was from a can and the french onion soup I ate was too salty with croutons in it :( It is rumored that the secret pizza dough recipe used here and at Louies, originally stemmed from the original Buddys recipe in Detroit. If that's true, then it would make sense that people that are loyal to these pizza joints share similar opinions about these places. I'm sticking to the pizza from now on.

Have been here twice now and came away a very satisfied customer on both occasions. I agree with the rave reviews of the pizza but I myself ordered sautéed perch on my first visit and it was delicious. On most recent visit I had the steak Sicilian Medium rare..it was an excellent, tender steak cooked perfectly. The side of pasta I got was mediocre (ziti with Meat sauce) it was a very generous side and I did enjoy it but would have been disappointed in it as a main dish. Also didn't care much for the soup which was Italian sausage with vegetables. It was almost all carrots. We started with buffalo chicken wings which we all agreed were phenomenal and the antipasto salad is very good as well. The reviewer who stated that the meat and cheese were meager was either a fluke or they read their reviews (smart business!) and made adjustments accordingly. I think I will become more of a regular here as the food is consistently good and I enjoy the variety of the menu.

I've been going to Cloverleaf my whole life for their pizza. I know everyone loves Buddy's and Jet's, but I think Cloverleaf beats them both. I've never ordered anything but their pizza, so I can't attest to the rest of their menu, but their pizza is amazing.

Went again last night and was equally wowed with the food, and slightly happier with the service...sort of. We waited a solid ten minutes for our server to greet us, and then we waited a solid 5 minutes for our drinks, and then we waited another solid ten minutes to order. The salad took a while to arrive, but the pizza arrived on-time and our server was really friendly and gracious. The food was outstanding again. Overall it was another great experience. Again, we'll be back.

I love this place, it is nearby the office I work at and we order from here quite frequently. It is great pizza that is always enjoyed by all of us in our office. The breadsticks are the greatest I have ever had! I have ordered the salads and eggplant parm in the past and they are always excellent as well. I have never eaten in the restaurant, only carry out but I don't have a single complaint about this place!

Well we went on a recommendation from a friend. From the reviews it appears to be a great pizza joint but we had to much of pizza lately, so we opted for other fare. My wife ordered the make your own pasta bowl and I the 1/2 pound burger & fries. The pasta was with the creamy asiago sauce...it came so peppery that my wife could taste nothing else. You could see the heavy amount of pepper specks in the sauce. We asked to return it for maybe a Alfredo sauce...the waitress seemed hesitant to return it but did. An older lady came out with the waitress and explained their "family recipe" was with the added pepper and the peppery sauce base for the creamy asiago was in fact the alfredo. Rather than get another pasta bowl my wife opted for the Chicken Piccata, as she makes the dish and has eaten it many times in Italian restaurants. My burger came properly cooked but surprisingly under seasoned (a surprise when the sauce was over seasoned). It was bland and with the Swiss cheese topper made it an even blander sandwich. Palatable but not worth the $7+ price tag. We ordered a pasta dish for the children and opted to take my wife's dish as a takeout as the entire restaurant trip to that point was nearly 2 hours. The chicken piccata appeared to be bland chicken breasts drowned in a white wine sauce....no capers & no sides(she had soup & salad at restaurant before other fiasco) and tasted like boiled chicken... price tag $10.95. Finally the kids would barely eat the pasta & meat sauce although they LOOOOOVE pasta(their favorite & over requested meal). I will not return...even if the pizza is stellar....service was good but not great. I am out $34.00 and most of the food was in the trash can. If you go...order the pizza....My recommendation....avoid it.... overpriced for the quality.

Quite simply the best Detroit style pizza. The waitstaff is very friendly. Their pizza bread is to die for. It reminds me of the pizza bread that my grandma used to make. One piece of advice: Their pizza slices are very filling! A 4 piece pizza will leave you and another person very stuffed! To all of the people that keep commenting on their other food....unbelievable. Why are you going to this establishment and not eating pizza? That's the equivalent of going to Mexican restaurant, ordering a grilled cheese because you don't like Mexican, and saying it wasn't good.

After craving Louis Pizza all day but being a bit lazy I remembered Cloverleaf a few miles from my house. I think I forgot about them because the last time there it was, meh. Well well how things have changed. The service from the moment we stepped inside was friendly and fast. We ordered a small antipasto salad and two small pizzas. The salad which is the reason for the missing star was ok, i like antipasto salads with the cubes of meat and cheese. These bits of meat and cheese were smaller than a stamp and just as thin, I'll skip the salad next time even if I love the taste of it. On to the pizza. Crunchy gooey goodness is all I can say. The Detroit style deep dish just enough of the crispy burnt edge and gobs of cheese. The only thing better than having it hot out of the oven is the next day. Pizza for breakfast mmmmm crunchy salty nom nomm nom.

my go-to lunch spot with my father during the week. friendly staff, good food, great service. obviously the pizza is the main thing, which is always great. the lunch buffet always has a variety of fresh pies to choose from. not a half bad way to spend $7.

Not sure how this place got such good reviews. It was like going to Pizza Hut! The crust was a buttery crusty that was geasy and the sauce was super bland. Not to mention that the sausage was tasteless. At least the iced tea was fresh brewed!

We came cross town because we heard this place comes close to Louie's. I can rate it disregarding that, or as a comparison to that. Hence the 4 stars; nowhere close to Louie's but pretty darn good otherwise. Overall atmosphere is actually WAY better than Louie's and the cheap wine selection is actually drinkable. Antipasto is not good; rather it's a pretty good salad with tiny bits of meat and chick peas and a few tiny pieces of tomatoes, plus olives. Not sure I saw any cheese in it. Bargain at $5, but plz do not call it antipasto. Pizza: darn good, but toppings not quality. Light years from coming close to Louie's, but clearly in the same league as Buddy's, but better. Wait staff are high school kids, so that is why I took half a star off. 1/4 star off for the za, and 1/4 star off for the poor salad. Round up and you get 4 stars. I would come back, but ONLY if in the neighborhood.

Very good pizza as always. Have to save room for dessert. The homemade whipped cheesecake is half the reason why we come here.

Oh Cloverleaf. Back in the day, they used to have karaoke on Friday nights. My friend and I would sit out in my 88 mustang and drink Boone's farm for an hour or so before going in to sign some tunes. The service was always great, especially for dealing with underage drunkards, and the pizza is actually pretty damn good. It's not a place I'd go on a date or for a special night. But come with a few friends, reminisce about the old days, and enjoy some tasty pizza.

Awesome food but lately they have been closing the whole place for parties..and catering to larger groups shutting us small groups out...getting old not worth it anymore. It sucks when you go there and its all parties now...its too bad because their food rocks if you can get seated at all..

When I was younger, we'd come here after a day of sailing and order a huge pizza and while my dad drank Labatt, my brother and I would think we were awesome, sipping beer-bottle-lookalike IBC root beers. This is definitely my favorite pizza of anywhere I've had pizza, hands down. You really can't beat it. It's square pizza with crunchy, crispy crust and lots of gooey cheese and perfect sauce. My parents loved their antipasto, too. Eventually, we started going there for all sort of familial occasions since it wasn't that far from my grandparents' house. God, their pizza is good. I'd have never given up dairy products if I lived near Cloverleaf!

Despite being fairly busy, the service was better than I had expected. Seems like this place can get some pretty large groups coming through (there were a couple besides our group of 8 present) and did a great job a handling our needs. One minor botch involved a server not understanding the difference between a pint and a pitcher but when the worst thing that comes from a mistake involves having to drink more beer life is not so bad. Obviously, Cloverleaf's major draw is the pizza. The slightly over cooked, greasy, not-as-delicious-as-I-remember pizza. I've had worse within the the "Detroit" pizza style realm (Buddy's oddly enough) but based on the sheer volume of "this pizza is awesome" reviews I think it's worth a shot if you're on the eastside. If you're searching for the best "Detroit" style, however, I would type in "Loui's Pizza Hazel Park, MI" in your Yelp search bar.

First time eating here today. Got a large pizza with pepperoni, olives, Italian sausage & artichokes,& Greek salad as a carryout it was very good! I would come back again! Gave 4 stars only because there are no specialty pizzas listed on the carry out menu.

Cloverleaf is good pizza. It taste very fresh. The also offer awesome desset. They have a nice bar area, dining areas, deck (weather permitting), buffet-brunch, karaoke, ample parkling. Great for groups...It is located on 9 mile and Gratiot. Note on Friday and Saturday night there is always a wait to be seated, but it is worth the wait...Not cheap, but moderately priced.

I've been going to Cloverleaf since I was a tiny kid back in the nineties, and I don't think a single thing has changed about it since then. That is to say, the place is still coated in the varnish of complete and utter magnificence that it has been for the past 21 years of my life. Let's start with the service. Cloverleaf can be a mixed bag when it comes to service, largely depending on when you go. Sure, you're going to wait a bit longer on busy summer nights or during a dinner rush, but I have yet to encounter anything resembling "bad" service. With that out of the way... THE FOOD. Dear god, the food. As other reviewers have mentioned, Cloverleaf specializes in deep-dish style square pizza wherein the sauce is placed in dollops atop the cheese and toppings rather than beneath it all. The range of toppings is relatively expansive and it shouldn't be hard to find a winning combination. As for the quality of this pizza, there are few words that really describe the cheesy, greasy, delicious quality that is Cloverleaf pizza. Imagine biting into a pizza and being struck by lightning at the same time. That is the closest experience I can find that begins to describe this stuff. The sauce has a distinct fresh quality to it, not too tangy, not too salty, but very clean. It cuts through the bed of cheese and toppings beneath it and really stands out as a result. The crust is a perfect mix of soft and luxurious over an almost-fried crunchiness. Really, you need to eat this stuff. Other highlights include the breadbaskets which come with meals and feature a crisp, sweet bread that is (presumably) pizza dough brushed with a light glaze and baked. It's strangely addictive, and you'll likely find yourself stooped over an empty basket at some point, wondering where the bread has gone and eyeing the basket at a nearby table. Also worth mentioning: the salads, soups and pastas. The antipasto is gigantic and delicious, as is the Italian sausage soup (seriously, you'll want to start your own fennel garden after you eat it.) As for the pasta, they have a number of really good house specialties, along with a "Make your own!" sort of deal. You can't go wrong. Everything I've said so far is irrelevant when it comes to dessert however. Have a seat ladies and gentlemen, and let me tell you about a little thing they like to call whipped cheesecake. Now, I'm sure you've had regular cheesecake before. It's that dense, cream cheese concoction whose taste and texture can range from anywhere between heaven and paper mache paste. This is a bit different. Imagine that the most delicious cheesecake you've ever had got in a horrible accident involving whipped cream and a whisk. The result is what may very well be the greatest dessert ever bestowed on mankind, and the single greatest reason to go to the Cloverleaf. A graham cracker crust forms the substrate for the cheesecake, with a 2-3 inch layer of pure unadulterated godliness lovingly slathered on top. Rather than the peanut butter-like texture and jaw-achingly rich sweetness of traditional cheesecake, this has a light, airy, and supremely creamy texture that is decadent without being heavy-handed. Each slice is big enough to come with its own real estate agent and, make no mistake, it will destroy you. In short, it is the dessert to end all desserts. It is the alpha and the omega, and it is definitely one thing you -need- to try when you go. In terms of price, the Cloverleaf is surprisingly reasonable, especially for the quality of food. A full soup/salad/pizza/dessert meal for two will likely run anywhere from 40-50.00, and for the price you're likely to leave in a carb-induced coma. Days later, when you finally DO awaken, you'll be able to revive yourself with the leftovers. Delicious food, kitschy environment and desserts worthy of Homerian description, the Cloverleaf is more than just a bar that serves pizza and it's certainly worthy of your attention.
