I'll admit I have only had their pizza and spaghetti, but both have had me happily making the three hour round trip for almost ten years!

Better but I still won't be back... After I posted my original review, the owner Gary J. immediately sent me a yelp message explaining that they do a Chicago style stuffed pizza - that it is not a true Chicago deep dish, and it was watery because they use a lot of fresh mushrooms. There was a lot of explanation, an apology and offer for a free pizza. I appreciated it and tonight took him up the offer. I'm happy to report that the pizza tasted much better this time but was still thin and lacked cheese and toppings. This one had pepperoni, mushroom, green pepper and onion. It wasn't watery this time though it does not look like what others show in their pictures. It was a good pizza but it wasn't worth the $21 price tag they ask for the self proclaimed 'best stuffed pizza'. It was seriously a pan pizza with sauce on top. I'm giving 3 stars as the counter service was fast and good, and I appreciate the owner reaching out. And it was tasty. Maybe you need to order a small one or be a regular or get lucky, but I won't be back to find out.

We ate here a few weeks ago and I had a perch sandwich. As a perch fan, it was so good I knew I had to come back for the perch dinner, and I wasn't disappointed. The perch in the dinner were perfectly cooked, seemingly freshly breaded and not pre-breaded and frozen. This will be my future spot for the fish. My wife has now had the Gorgonzola and pear salad, which she likes a lot but has now twice expressed disappointment that the pears were the canned variety. Fresh pears would make such a big difference, especially when they are so locally available in the summer, she says. I must also say the waitstaff was very good. There was always a smile and they really seemed to care.

Our pizza was a little disappointing. I had been craving a River's Edge pizza, because in the past they were the best around. We ordered a kitchen sink pizza, and it just wasn't that good. It was kind of mushy, and a bit watery. It didn't seem like it was cooked long enough, and the crust was very thin. We also ordered a dozen wings, which were delicious! They were crispy, flavorful and I would definitely order them again. The service was great. Waitress was friendly and efficient.

We waited 15 minutes to be seated, while 2 tables were open but remained unbussed. We waited for an hour for a gluten free pizza and I had to send it back because it was terribly COLD. The first time I had GF pizza here, it was wonderful. But every time since, it has been cold and fewer and fewer toppings. This is not the first time I've sent pizza back at this place, in fact it is the third time. I know they do not make their gluten free crust, it is prepackaged (according to the staff). They were so understaffed people were getting up to go get their own drinks. One man threw a fit, using foul language, announcing that he had been waiting for someone to take a drink order for the last half hour. We waited another 20 minutes for our check. The two waitresses, attempted to help people as best they could, but the overall experience was just pitiful. I had promised myself the last time that I wouldn't return for pizza. I need to keep my promise to myself.

Ordered a Kitchen Sink with extra sauce and extra cheese. Neither was extra and the other toppings were far from "kitchen sink" status.

My husband and I just got back from River's Edge in downtown Dundee. We have an interesting story of our day actually... We were on our way back from finding out the sex of our baby and had decided that we would have the ultrasound tech put the picture with the sex of the baby in an envelope and take it to a restaurant and have them suprise us with a dish or dessert with the sex. So I felt a little weird at first but I gave the waitress the envelope and since we were ordering a pizza asked if they could put it on the pizza or a dessert of some sort. She was totally into it (at least if she thought we were crazy she hid it VERY well!), and after bringing it back to the kitchen said they would be able to do it on the pizza. We waited very diligently for the pizza trying to make small talk and finally it came out. On top in banana peppers it spelled BOY! They also gave us a cute little blue tshirt for doing our gender reveal there. I was super nervous about going to a random restaurant and having them think we were crazy or stupid so the fact that they were pretty into it was sweet! On top of all that the pizza was delicious and cheap! We got a large pizza half "kitchen sink" and the other half "vegetarian." It was all delish and makes for great leftovers. Now we'll always have very fond memories of the place :)

Classic dive meets diner with decent pizza. Let me share my experience. I dined with my wife, 4 year old daughter and sleeping 1.5 year old boy at 1:10 in the afternoon on a Friday. The place had just two tables available, both dirty and waiting to be bussed and wiped down. Our server was working the floor alone, though the kitchen seemed staffed well. This resulted in our food coming out quickly, but order taking far too long to go in. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Situated in historic downtown Dundee, we were spoiled with curbside parking. When we walked in, I immediately noticed the dated yet surprisingly well kept interior. The booths were roomy which was appreciated, as my son was asleep and able to stretch completely out comfortably. There was a kids menu available with games and crayons as well. (Hint: Kids 10 and under eat FREE on Tuesdays with adult purchase.) The menu is all over the place. We opted for the Buffalo Chicken Dip with tortilla chips for a starter. This was nearly $8, I believe. It wasn't bad, just overpriced by about $2 for what it was. It reminded me of when I decide to crock pot something I see on Pinterest. It's edible, but that's it. Definitely not a re-do. Just a starter though, not a huge deal. For lunch we ordered a Kitchen Sink Pizza. This was good. I can't compare it to a Tiffany's yet, as I am a Mary Sacco kind of guy, but it is definitely a solid pizza. Crust isn't too doughy and is baked fairly well. The sauce wasn't overbearing like with many places around here. Next time I will try a Chicago deep dish and/or The Sicilian, but for a $12 medium, not bad at all. Oh, and fair warning, they carry a limited number of Pepsi products, which is only excusable with Coke, of course. Decent little place, justifiable prices for the most part. We walked out for only $26 and some change, before tip. We will be back.

This little place is located about 1 mile east of Cabela's, in charming downtown Dundee. I like the atmosphere of both the town and the restaurant. I've been here three times and the bottom line is that the pizza is excellent. I'm a "sauce, crust and cheese" (and ass, BTW) man. Great toppings are cool too, but for me, pizza is all about the sauce, the crust, and the cheese. In each of these three categories River's Edge Pizza comes out on top. Sauce: It's home made, tangy and not particularly sweet. There's plenty of it, too. Because it tastes great, this bold sauce doesn't have to hide under the cheese or the toppings. Hell baby, this is MANLY pizza sauce! When this sauce walks its big ass into a room, you KNOW it has a-rrived! Crust: Hand tossed, soft, foldable and a little fluffy. Cooked perfectly around the edges on three occasions. The crust is the Yin to the sauce's Yang. BTW, they also have Chicago style pies, that I have NOT yet tried, yet. Cheese: Flavorful and plentiful. There's quite a bit of cheese, too; maybe too much, as the pizza is a bit greasy. Personally, I like it better that way, but I can see where someone might complain. We've gone there on a Friday and Saturday evening. Both times, the place was packed. But, we were seated promptly, the pies came out quickly, and the waitresses were very friendly. They have enough booze, too. I'll be back for sure.

We came here while on spring break. The Kitchen Sink pizza and cheese bread were delicious! Service was friendly & timely. If we lived in the area I would eat here often. We stayed at the Holiday Inn & it was very close & easy to find from the hotel.

From out of town. Stopped here on a trip up north. Wanted to bypass the fast food chains right off the highway and am glad we did. Vast menu and it seemed like pizza was the way to go as all the tables around us ordered multiple types. We asked for something lighter and our server, Trista, recommended the Gorgonzola and Pear Salad. Very good. Trista was a good server and very pleasant. Definitely will keep this in mind as a stopping point on trips.

My team and I from Bad Hair Day? salon/Spa visited Rivers edge Pizza for lunch the other day and what an amazing experience! Our waitress was smiling and very attentive. The food was amazing! That cheese bread should be illegal it was so sinful! Great place, we will definitely be back.

This was the worst dining experience I've had in a long, long time. We were seated at 5:15 p.m. on a Thursday. There were a handful of other tables already seated. We ordered two burgers, medium. Those burgers came at 6:15 p.m. By this time, there was practically a riot in the dining room. As new tables would come in to be seated, customers angrily waiting for their food would tell them to go elsewhere. The staff had no idea what to do. When one table complained about how long they'd been waiting for their food, their waitress replied, "I know, but it's not fair to me either! You think I like waiting on angry people? We're not used to being a FOOD restaurant. We used to just be a pizza place." When our burgers came, without the mayo or pickles we'd requested, they were piping hot and good--but seriously, how did it take an hour? Drink refills were non-existent since staff stayed in the back in order to not have to face the hungry mob that had gathered in the dining room. Then, with an apology, our server presented us with our bill, which had not been given any consideration or alteration due to the awful experience we'd obviously had. You couldn't PAY me to go back.

Last night my family and I ordered the kitchen sink pizza from rivers edge for pick up. It was hearty pizza with all the essential toppings. Staff was very kind and the place was full. The pizza was ready ~20-25 minutes. The wings we ordered were delicious but over priced for what we received. Would recommend the pizza.

The wife and myself went to this place when we first moved into town. We both were throwing up at 3:00 am because of food poisoning, when I called the next day their 1 st response was "it wasn't us!" Not are you ok? ( interesting it was the only food we had are for the day)) my suggestion is look for another place!!!!!!!!

Went there with another family. Bought four pizzas and a fish dinner. All were very good. Fish came with fries and cole slaw. Solid. The pizzas were a rivers edge, a Hawaiian, a pepperoni and a cheese. Service was really nice and attentive.

Quaint little spot. The hubs ordered a stuffed pizza and I had a burger. Was so excited to see that they offered a whole grain bun for their burger - and it was a good one to boot. The flavors were there but unfortunately my burger was over cooked. The pizza was fine, average flavors and textures. Efficient, not so friendly service.

Nice place. Good service with a friendly staff and a decent beer selection. The pizza was real good. I liked the sauce and the crust was just right. My friend had the ribs and said they were good as well. Looked like the meat fell off the bone. Update: OK Rivers Edge... You win! I don't have a trophy to hand out, but if I did, I'd let you have it. We came back and the pizza was even better this time! That meat pizza was great. The different flavored all came together very well. And once again, the staff was very friendly, even in the face of a full house.

Amazing Chicago style pizza. Nice, small pizza joint with great service and awesome food. We overheard a customer brag about his cheeseburger and how the patties were hand-made not processed patties.

Two waitresses waiting on too many tables, but they kept their cool, were friendly, and attentive! Very nice! I had the chicken fajita wrap. Delicious, hot, filled with chicken. The homemade chips are really good too! My husband had soup and a Reuben. He said both were tasty and hot. Definitely enjoyed our lunch!

Chicago pizza had way too many mushrooms. Bacon and sausage were no where to be found. Garlic puffs and fries were yummy. No shrooms next time :)

If you are anywhere near Dundee you will not be disappointed here. The deep dish pizza is fantastic and the flavor of the sweet sausage in the manicotti was delicious. We ate so much good food we nearly burst. The service was very good and friendly and the owner came by our table three times despite it being very busy. Lovely lady.

Stopped in last Sunday on our way to Toledo. Wasn't busy for a Sunday evening, but glad we showed up when we did since a wave of customers began coming in afterward. Service was super friendly and the place clean. We ordered the Cubby deep dish, with chicken, caramelized onions, mushrooms, and green olives. We weren't disappointed except for the burnt crust top. Burnt to black actually. I realize it takes a while to bake a deep dish pie, but I recommend investing in a crust guard or just plain tin foil to protect it. A free fix is putting the pie on a lower oven rack if your oven allows. Another waitress kept bragging to the other patrons how River's Edge was voted best pizza hands down. True when you have little competition in the area. Overall, I've had much better but would consider stopping again if in Dundee.

Glad I checked out Yelp for restaurant's in the area and found River's Edge. The sign on the outside and small neon sign don't really grab your eye, but I am glad we stopped in! As far as food, I can only comment on the pizza. We had a Chicago style and it was very tasty, not too doughy as some of them can be. Beer was cold and my dad and I thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. Service was helpful and very friendly. I will be back here for sure next time I'm in town.

Went to this restaurant after looking at on line reviews which were very positive. We went on a Saturday night and all seats were taken so we sidled up to the bar and had a drink while we waited. The staff were very friendly and the drinks were generous. We were seated in a comfortable booth after about 15 minutes and ordered a large Kitchen Sink pizza. We ordered a Kitchen Sink Pizza and as far as I am concerned it was one of the best pizzas I have ever had. Great fresh ingredients and a great crust. We will definitely return.

This place has super good pizza and their fries are delicious too. I love the food and the service is good too. Nice little place in downtown Dundee and close to other nice shops to buy things in.

  • Tim M.

Definitely worth a try. The food was good. My wife had a Reuban which could have used a bit more corned beef although it tasted fine. I had the Ultimate French Onion soup, it wasn't. It was average, no bread and slice of melted cheese over the top.

This is our favorite Pizza! We drive 1 1/2 hours just to get it and always get extra so we can eat it for the next few days. It warms up well! We have never had a bad pizza or bad service there and we recommend it to everyone.

Did you ever go to some place out in the sticks and get real hungry and not have any clue where to grab a bite? Or did you just plain get lost and not have a clue where you are? If that happens when you go to Cabela's this is a good choice. The food is decent. I worked in the area and we had only a few choices, but this was one of our hangouts. The restaurant has always been clean and the service pretty good. On my recent trip to the plant I stopped in for a bite. I had the pizza, small with double cheese, pepperoni, sausage...less the fungus. It was the very good, sweet sauce, not greasy. Try the cheesy bread too if your waistline can handle it. If this had been in the Detroit area I would have only given this three stars, but since there aren't many choices for food in the area I gave it what I did.

Love the Chicago Style Deepdish Pizza and the Greek Salad. - great teta cheese and beets.

Best pizza in town. The burger wasn't anything special, but it could have been better if I had specified how I wanted the meat cooked.

  • Eric S.

Nice little place. Only about 12 tables, but good pizza and burgers combined with a cold beer and friendly service makes it 4 stars. Lost a star for the pizza being a bit overly greasy, but good sauce and fresh dough! While i'm here in Dundee for two months I will certainly return often
