I really enjoyed my time here. I would find it very difficult to say anything negative about this place. Everything from the food to the rooms were outstanding. Jim is a very nice guy and provided helpful input on where to go in the surrounding area. I am just afraid if I am too positive this place might become very popular and I would not be able to return.

My wife and I stayed here last summer in the Black and White room. It was clean and spacious. The owner was very friendly, and helpful. Our stay was very pleasant.

stay away from this place. The owners are @%*!#. They pretend to be nice to get your money - which is all they care about. there are problems in the rooms and they won't fix them unless you tell them about it. They monitor you, your room, and your vehicle. If anything is not "perfect" they take pictures of it and confront you and threaten you with damages and tell you "be more careful". I literally almost got into a fight with the male owner over something they accused me of which was completely unsubstantiated and false - I forget his name, but he was with the female owner (wife, girlfriend, sister ?) I don't know who she is - but she is as bad as he is. Backstabbing phonies. Oh, and if you do go there - don't even think of asking for something that they don't "normally" have or provide - you won't get it. Never again.

My boyfriend bought me a weekend at Sherwood Forest B&B for my birthday. We went in June and it was lovely! The drive from Chicago was only 2 1/2 hours with traffic. There are a ton of wineries that you could stop by along Lake Michigan. When we got to Sherwood Forest, Keith and Sue (the owners) were welcoming, knowledgeable, and made us feel comfortable considering this was our first b&b. We stayed in the Log Cabin Suite which was amazing. There is a HUGE 2 person Jacuzzi, a fireplace which is in between the jacuzzi and the bedroom, a love seat, a mini bar with a fridge, and was so clean! Sleeping there was amazing. It is quiet and the air was so clean. My allergies were non-existent there. Breakfast was delicious! We were there for 3 nights / 4 days, but there was no overlap in food! Breakfast 1 was cinnamon orange french toast, Canadian bacon with fresh fruit, yogurt, and granola. This was my favorite because I am a french toast connoisseur. Breakfast 2 was a spinach, egg, and asparagus quiche accompanied with fresh fruit and bran muffins. I am normally not an "egg" eater, but this was an exception. It was really really delicious. Breakfast 3 was a great too. I did not eat the "main" dish because I wasn't that hungry, but I did have a blueberry muffin / cake with fresh fruit. I was extremely impressed with the meals there. Sherwood Forest is close enough to downtown Saugatuck, but far enough that it doesn't feel "touristy." You are close to a public beach which is great for the sunrise. We mainly stayed at the pool at Sherwood Forest. There are chairs and tables in the back which is great. They have a guest fridge in the area too. There are tons of bikes you could borrow to ride around. Honestly, I could go on and on about how amazing my birthday weekend at Sherwood Forest B&B was, but I think you get my point. I would highly recommend this to anyone from my mom to my best friend to my co-workers. I cannot wait to go back and am excited to go in the fall / winter too!

We are thrilled that Sherwood Forest Bed & Breakfast was a part of our weekend getaway to Michigan. I booked the Black & White room and based on the pictures, I was expecting a small room, but it was anything but small! There was a good amount of open space in the room, without seeming like dead space. The bathroom was a little small and, in case you are taller than 6', you may be a little cramped in the shower since it is under a slanted roof. Besides the room itself, the house is gorgeous! It's decorated in a classic and homey way. I probably could have spent the entire weekend in the house and have been fine with it. We played board games for a few hours on the porch each day and it was just perfect. Keith & Sue really know what they're doing, and Sue makes a mean breakfast each morning (cinnamon orange french toast? yes please!). In terms of entertainment, they have 10+ bikes for free usage by patrons and a large swimming pool and deck area in the back. They can also give you great recommendations for food and entertainment in the greater Saugatuck/Douglas area. It was wonderful getting to know the area on a short weekend trip and I look forward to my next trip here to experience everything else there wasn't time for!

My husband and I stayed in the Log Cabin Suite for our honeymoon. The layout of the suite is amazing. The jacuzzi tub was big enough that my rather tall husband didn't have his knees sticking out of the water and we had more than enough room to sit side by side. The bathroom and main room had a window that opened so we could keep the room cool while sitting in the hot tub. The fireplace is in the wall connecting the bedroom to the bathroom so you can watch it from the jacuzzi or the bedroom. They have a masseuse who does in room massages and she is very talented. The rooms were very clean. The breakfast both mornings was really nice. The owners did a great job of pointing out restaurants and stores in the area we shouldn't miss. They also pointed out good place to go for walks since the weather was nice. The B&B rules were reasonable and they don't have a curfew. Amenities in the Log Cabin Suite: Wireless Fireplace Shower Massive Jacuzzi Tub Refrigerator There is no TV in the rooms (a plus for us) but it looked like there was one downstairs in one of the common areas.

My girlfriend and I took a 3-day weekend for our first trip to Saugatuck/Douglas and were lucky enough to stay at the Sherwood Forest. I was a little hesitant about staying at a bed & breakfast because sometimes their description of "charming" means that the B&B is really old and unkempt but I was really surprised by the overall cleanliness and our room and the house. We stayed in the Victorian Room which was extremely clean, quiet, and featured an enormous bathroom with shower, jacuzzi, refrigerator, and wet bar - at an extremely reasonable price! The B&B is also conveniently located across the street from one of the 2 public beaches in the area and is a 5 minute drive from downtown Saugatuck. The owners, Keith and Sue, are great. They sat down with us when we first arrived and gave us the low-down on the Saugatuck scene. Their recommendations were spot-on as we had a great time following their suggestions for both food and other activities. Keith and Sue also offered a really nice breakfast assortment of fruit, cake, coffee, tea, and one hot dish that changed daily. Overall, the Sherwood Forest is the perfect weekend get-away from the daily grind in Chicago. We will be back!!!
