A great little deli with cheap delicious food. The only reason I am not giving them 5 stars is because the place is a bit cramped, but if that doesn't bother you than the place will be a 5 star experience for you. Also make sure to get your AAA discount!

I was sad to hear the Cole slaw is bought not made at the shop. Wait for a sandwich was about 15 minutes. . Two sandwiches and two drinks were 17 dollars. The sandwich pulled pork special came on a warm bun with a side of BBQ sauce and a pickle. I'd have prefer the sauce was warm instead of recently refrigerated. The sauce was tasty more sweet with a hint of smoke. The meat was bland the bun was great as was the pickle. All and all food was a 3 out of 5. The restaurant was quaint. The eating surfaces were clean but the other decorations had a layer of dust. Between the counter and windows was a gap with cob webs and dead insects. 2 out of 5.

We were in town for a wedding and needed a fast lunch between events. A quick Yelp search landed us at Mati's Deli. I was really impressed with this place. I had the Carol's Temptation and my boyfriend had the club. Both were excellent, but the Carol was grilled which made it even more delicious. Mati's was quick, high quality, and cost less than the greasy Wendy's we had on the way home the next day!

My boyfriend kept saying we need to go there when we would be in the area. I finally went with him and i loved it we got corned beef sandwich and the meat was good quality the people were very nice. It's a nice small cozy deli

Lots of people often say they truly have the best deli sandwich. I personally don't think anyone should claim that only because there are so many options. But I must say Mati's deli makes a friggen fantastic sandwich! I really loved this small deli because it packs allot of punch. It's tucked away in a Dearborn suburb. I walked in and it was very small only maybe about 20 maybe 25 can sit comfortably but it's sure worth the wait. Thankfully we did not have to wait I ordered the turkey works which is a nice amount of sliced turkey breast with honey smoked ham, mayo, Swiss and lettuce on New York style rye bread. Really what makes a big difference is the freshly baked rye bread, it makes a huge difference in the taste factor. Also I loved the fact that this deli was extremely clean. All in all a very great sandwich experience. Yummmmmm Follow Food Porn Detroit on Instagram

Wow you people must have never been anywhere else. The food here is underrated. How about trying Lou's and bread basket deli's. They are so much better and give you get your money's worth.

I have not had good experiences at Mati's Deli. I think other reviewers like the size of the sandwiches and the generous deli meat portions per sandwich. Unfortunately, the quality of the sandwiches is very mediocre, especially given the price. Both times I went to Mati's the bread was stale and the sandwich was bland. Its the type of sandwich you could make yourself in five minutes at home--but with more meat than you should probably be eating in one sitting. Another thing to note is that the cheese is terrible on the sandwiches and the pickles were bland and mushy. What was also unfortunate was the quality of service. The first time I went, I felt like nobody wanted to actually give service--the workers seemed unhappy to be there. The second time, the sandwich took approx. 20 minutes to be ready. One other lady asked if they had called her number, and the cashier was rude with her response. It seemed like the regulars really like the staff and both are friendly to each other--but less familiar faces are treated with less care. Also--my sister got the veggie wrap, and it is a joke. I would not recommend going to Mati's Deli unless you are really hungry (good portion size) and it is nearby.

You can never go wrong with Mati's! I've tried numerous different sandwiches from here and have never once been disappointed. It's a hidden jewel in Dearborn. Very small and easy to miss if you're not looking...and a bit off the beaten path The portions are generous. The price, moderate. The staff, friendly. The quality, superb. Go early or call ahead, as they are always busy...but worth the wait if you don't. The biggest bummer about this place is the parking...but even that wouldn't stop me from giving five stars. Would give more, if I could

I'm up to twice a week at Mati's and and more addicted to the sandwiches every time. I've tried almost all the specialty sandwiches and would recommend any of those those, Ellen's favorite would be my pic, although I know nothing of the soups. The staff is very friendly even through the busy lunch hour. If you are going for lunch definitely call ahead, being so close to the Ford PDC building they get slammed. They will request 20 minutes to make your order, otherwise you will spend that 20 minutes waiting for your order.

The is my first time reviewing this place after many visits. I am always happy with my food here but its a tad bit expensive for just a sandwich and a pop. They have out grown there store and dont have enough seating or room to wait for service/food. I typically get Brittany's ticket its a thriple decker sandwitch with a ton of roast beef brisket. Today i got in and out of there in less then 30 mins. But this isn't always the case. Ohh and they only allow you to use a card on purchases of $10 or more.

Excellent sandwiches with interesting ingredients. Not your run-of-the-mill deli; you can get bean sprouts or avocado on your sandwiches. They have a set of named sandwiches where the ingredient mixture is just right! It is a bit on the expensive side for a small deli... plan to spend $9 or $10 for a sandwich, chips, and a drink. Well worth the money, in my opinion. Be sure to order online before you go! Your sandwich will be ready when you arrive, and the last time I checked, they give you a free brownie with your order if you order online. :)

My wife and I decided to try this place out based on all the great reviews. The reviews were not wrong. It reminded me of Vinnie's Hamburger on Michigan Avenue with its decor. I went with the BLT which was very good. They really do give you a ton of filler with the sandwich. I forgot what my wife decided on, but she enjoyed it also. We want to go back and try different items because I am sure they are all excellent.

Awesome deli!!! Real rye and old school stacked sandwiches. Awesome broccoli soup. My favorite is the pastrami on rye with mustard. Carols temptation is another old time good one.

  • Jake S.

you must stop at this place if you are reading this review and you need Lunch "nearby" it's a 5-star, i only give out a few of them, this is on that list. They don't do much, but what they do, they do 5 star all the way. They have Knish with gravy, what else needs to be said! one slight suggestion: get better pickels... they are good, but not 5-star. only thing missing from the total New York Deli is the pickle. Needs to be firm and crisp.

Awesome place. A Dearborn hidden gem although its been there for a while. To my surprise some people that live in Dearborn don't know about it. I used to go there for lunch every now and then with some co workers. All the sandwiches are darn good but the Brittany's Ticket is to die for. The combination of the raw onion with tomatoes mayo and corned beef is just amazing. I'm sad that I no longer work around that area cause I miss Mati's a lot!

  • David R.

Best deli in the metro area--and Lou is the best delicatessen owner in Metro Detroit. Classic corned beef, great beef brisket, the best deli mustard around. Little cramped but take it to go; it's worth it.

  • BJ K.

While this may pass for a good deli in Dearborn, anyone who has grown up in NYC or LA knows this isn't close to a real deli. I ordered the famous Reuben sandwich. It wasn't seeded rye, the corned beef and sauerkraut had no real bite, and it was bland overall. Do yourself a favor and go to LA or NYC and visit a real deli like Stage or even Johnnies in Culver City, CA.

My first visit here was alright. Their sandwiches are big but they're a little overpriced. I got a turkey and ham sandwich on a kaiser roll... I was a little disappointed because the roll was covered in poppy seeds, which I find tasteless and annoying... and it cost me $.60 more! The sandwich itself was just okay. The meats were nothing special. The Swiss cheese wasn't very strong... I should have asked for cheddar instead, so that's my fault. The kaiser roll was a little dry for my liking. I guess after reading all the reviews here, I was hoping for something more remarkable. The sizing for their drinks are set back to the 90s. A medium here is a small everywhere else. I was a little annoyed because it didn't last my whole sandwich... I drink a lot when I eat, though. The place is very cramped, so trying to move from our window seats to the counter was rough, especially because a family sat right behind us. The employees were nice, though. They had great customer service. The women who helped me were informative and answered all my questions without hesitation. I appreciate a small place with good customer service. I'll definitely go back to try their different breads, but my first visit wasn't that impressive. Nothing about my sandwich justified the price.

Please replace the short woman who waited on us today. She is surly, unfriendly and must really hate her job. In fact, no one working smiled or seemed to enjoy what they were doing. Sandwiches were good but ruined by a bad customer service experience. UPDATE: Lou, the owner, called me to apologize about the service I received. The fact that he reads the reviews and responds is enough for me to go back. The food was great and I am confident Lou will address the service issues.

If the owner treated his employees better maybe they would be so upset looking . Been in their a bunch of time and his is so rude

  • Kyle B.

Classic deli style sandwiches at their finest. I love the Rueben, I opt for it on a grilled onion roll, to die for! The turkey club is also a favorite as well as the chicken salad with honey cup mustard. It's all good! Be sure to try a Knish when you go. They usually have them hot and ready, to the right side of the register.

    (4)
  • Suzie D.

Love this place! Fresh well made food. Love their tuna melt the Good bye Charlie and the Chicken deli wraps. The only soup I had tasted like canned chicken, so I didn't order again, instead I go for the potato salad. Love the cookies. Love the ambiance especially the Edward Hopper Nighthawks inspired painting. Love that you can order online, and pick it up in 20 minutes. Neighborhood gem!

    (5)
  • Sreerupa B.

Ordered a chicken salad sandwich on a kaiser roll and the bread was stale. Pickle was mushy too. Disappointed!

  • Jacob T.

Mati's Deli knows what they are doing and they are doing it right! I love the variety of sandwiches they offer, the uniqueness of the building (an old gas station), and the friendliness of the staff. The rueben sandwich is their most popular item and it does NOT disappoint. I always want to branch out and order something different, but I keep going back to the rueben every time because it is that good. A bit pricey but it is completely worth it. If you have room after your meal, the cream cheese brownies are excellent as well. Also, if you are a AAA member you save 10% just by showing your card!!

  • Morris D.

Matis is a Dearborn favorite. They make great deli sandwich. the meat there have been slow cooked so that it is very tender and juicy. The price is just right for what your are getting in the quality food that they serve. Me personal I love their corn beef sandwich, the flavor is rich and the spicy mustard is a great topping for it.

  • Stacey R.

Had Mati's today for the first time in about 5 years and it was DELICIOUS! We ordered Ellen's Favorite (corned beef, cole slaw, swiss and russian dressing) to split and it was just enough for 2 (although I'm sure I could eat a whole one myself). The corned beef was very lean and it had just the right amount of everything! We ordered online and was in and out when I went to pick it up! The prices are a little on the high side but it was worth it to me. Friendly staff. Wish they stayed open later and they need more parking but other than that - excellent!

  • Elmer A.

Tasty sandwiches! We ordered the pastrami sandwich and a roast beef sandwich. We found both to be very tasty. So tasty in fact, we ordered another sandwich to take on the plane before our flight home back to sunny and warm San Diego. We found the meats to be tasty. The bread was moist. Service was good and friendly. We went around 4 pm so there was no line. The roast beef is medium rare and we found it to be really juicy. We love roast beef medium rare. We cannot stand well done roast beef served at places like Subway. We will visit Mati's every time we go back to visit Michigan.

The best. Nothing compares. High quality meat and cheese, delicious combinations, old school deli... The only choice in Dearborn! Pickles are also delicious!

I came to Mati's based on a recommendation from a coworker who, along with myself, lives within walking distance. I am always looking for a local establishment to overly impress vs the usual chains like PotBelly's and Jimmy Johns. This place appeared to finally be what I was looking for. Well, I was mistaken. I never tried any of the offerings because the 20-something at the register decided rolling her eyes and being an obnoxious brat was the appropriate way to treat her new guest, especially since all I originally asked about was whether a credit card was acceptable as a form of payment. I won't fault the food as I never tried it, but I will fault the employee who prevented a sale. Instead of me raving to my neighbors and friends, I will simply tell them to avoid Mati's and go to Potbelly's. Sorry folks for disappointing, but this review is factual and well deserved. If Mati's decides to hire respectable, mature adults, I will return.

When I want corned beef, this is the spot! Great rye bread with a crispy, chewy crust is what you'll find cradling the high quality stacked corned beef. I am so glad this place is around. Delicious!

  • Phil M.

This was just "OK". I didn't get some of the same feelings about their sandwiches that most of the other reviewers had. They were a little pricey and the sandwiches were not that big. I wouldn't avoid this place but I also wouldn't go out of my way to come here. They are a solid 3 stars but if given the choice because of price I would go to another sandwich shop. The brownie was very good and the roast beef was made perfectly.

  • Wally S.

Wow... maybe my tastes are a bit skewed, but I really thought that Mati's was nothing much more than OK. Maybe since I hold the NYC deli's in such high regard, a sandwich from here just doesn't do it well. But maybe it's me, I don't really care much for Zingerman's either. I ordered a sandwich called Pete's Best Bet. It tasted good, but nothing special. Corned beef, pastrami, coleslaw, all on a roll, the correct ingredients, but the sum of all of these left me a bit on the empty side. Average? Yes. Also ordered a roast beef sandwich and a BLT for my kids. The BLT seemed to be the hit of the lunch. I brought the roast beef home and had it for dinner, and was totally unimpressed. Not much substance and only average flavor, it didn't appear to have much of a slow roasting process. I also though Mati's was a bit on the pricey side for what I got. I realize this is Ford territory and it's easy to command a bit extra for lunch, but really; a Sandwich and a Coke for around $10 is a few dollars on the high side. Apparently I'm not one of the anointed because this place is packed with lots of smiling faces at lunch time. Maybe I'll try Mati's again and give it another chance in the future, but for now, it's just OK and yes, I've had much better deli food. So forgive me fellow Yelpers. I respect your ratings, but I can't bring myself to go much higher. I struggled at giving it a 2, but then changed my mind.

  • Katsumi N.

The best corned beef sandwiches!! My favorite is Ellen's favorite with coleslaw! It seems that's the only sandwich I get whenever I get hungry for a corned beef sandwich! Also I ask them to "grilled", which makes the rye bread nice and crispy.... Mmmmm, I just ate one but go get another one......

    (5)
  • Shelly M.

I just keep going back for more, I love love love me some Mati's. I always seem to get the same two sandwiches, Ellen's Favorite (hot corned beef, coleslaw, swiss cheese, & russian dressing on rye), but asked for it grilled as it does not come that way, and Carol's Temptation (same as Ellen's but with turkey instead of corned beef, this one comes grilled). Consistent, the sandwiches are always the same year after year. Makes mouth happy!

    (5)
  • Tom K.

This place is a good deli. The sandwiches are on the small side but the selections are always good. The service is second to none. Cheryl always greets me with a smile and great service.while its no bread basket it is one of the best in Dearborn

    (4)
  • Sarah S.

Has to be the best roast beef sandwich I've ever had in my life! It's so big that I couldn't even get my mouth around it. The soups are fantastic but the real star of the meal are those cream cheese brownies. I've never eaten anything here that I didn't like! The hours are a bit wonky and if you go in around lunch it can take ages. I suggest ordering ahead of time online!

  • Dave S.

Came to Mati's for maybe the third of fourth time but it will probably be my last. I had a Entertainment Book coupon deal to use so I already had skin in the game. The deal was $6 for a $12 coupon. Anyways, bottom line is that Mati's is overpriced. I don't mind paying $7.60 for a sandwich and pickle if it is a.) going to blow my mind in the taste department or b.) have meat stacked so high there is no way you can finish it. Mati's offers neither. I went with a co-worker and two sandwiches, a soup, and a bag of chips for $20? It's just highway robbery. Actually mid-way through my review I just decided to demote Mati's from a 3 star to a 2 star. I remembered it's 2011, and time to demand more. The soup (chicken noodle) wasn't that good and that sized bowl is not worth $3.50. Mati's is also good at making their sandwiches look better by using really thick slices of bread. There are dozens of places in the Dearborn area where I can get a lot more for less. Don't come unless you have a coupon. This isn't what a deli should be.

  • Ritchie W.

Wasn't sure what to have for my lunch today but, having been to Mati's some 4 or 5 weeks ago, I thought I'd give it another try. Well, I'm as impressed as I was the first time. Being the adventorous person I am, I had exactly the same as I did last time...Uncle Louie's BBQ sandwich. I'm in agreement with some of the comments regarding parking at Mati's but its worth a little walk for. The Staff are quick to help and are pleasent. The food tastes good. Value for money? yeah I think so. Will certainly be paying this place a few more visits, you never know, I may even change my choice of sandwich.

This place is just remarkable. I have lived around the corner for two years and only just recently stopped in. Upon recommendation, I ordered both the salami and turkey works sandwiches to try both. First of all, wow. Their fresh bread is unlike anything else in Dearborn and there's not much like it in greater Detroit. Their ingredients are sooo fresh and brilliant. They have a great, bright taste. And, not to restate the same thing but the fresh bread separates them from any other place around. It alone is worth a visit. The service is warm and wonderful. This is one place that has been around a long time and will be around long after the Applebee's and TGI McFunsters of greater Detroit are long gone! Make sure to hit Mati's up... And, oh, bring an appetite!!

  • Christina G.

The best turkey reuben ANYwhere. Pefectly grilled rye with a little bit of butter, thin sliced turkey, ample thousand island, a delicious homemade coleslaw and a thick slice of swiss. This is sandwich heaven! Their soups are also amazing, homemade. The cream cheese brownies?! The best- moist and chewy brownie with just enough cream cheese mixture on top. the parking here is awful, but i will do many a crazy thing when hungry and in close proximity to awesome food- including park a block down and walk. This place has a crazy lunch crowd, but I don't mind waiting it's so yum. Would drive here (and have!) from Northville just for a sandwich.

    (5)
  • Dave K.

Been here a dozen or so times, always top notch. The coleslaw is great, soups are fresh and the sandwiches are superb. I usually get the "Prime Time" and it always fills me up... great anytime you want a great lunch!

  • Bill K.

I have a few lunchtime favorites in Dearborn and Mati's is definitely one of them! They offer a nice selection of deli samiches...at roughly $8 a pop...less 10% when you show your AAA card. Beware, you might have to wait a few minutes at lunch time and it's cramped too....yes, lots of workers from Ford, Oakwood Hospital etc. Order ahead online and get a free brownie. My favorites are: HANK'S DELIGHT Hot corned beef, pastrami, extra swiss and hot mustard on pumpernickel BRIAN'S WISH Chicken salad, alfalfa sprouts, muenster cheese, bacon, honey mustard on a kaiser roll BRITTANY'S TICKET Roast beef brisket of beef, lettuce, tomato, onion, american cheese, mayo on triple decker white toast.

Judging from the tire lodged around my midsection I am clearly a man who knows a good sandwich when he wolfs one and these guy make good, no GREAT sandwiches. Their sandwiches are what you might consider on the ordinary side in terms of deli concept, pretty standard stuff overall but all of it is fresh and high quality. Portion sizes are very large, so considering the quality they are quite a bargain. I've been going to this place for years now and have tried 90% of the menu and I'd say their specialty sandwiches are the best, my personal faves being the Ellen's favorite or the Goodbye Charlie. Normally, I'd knock a star off this score just because there isn't a ton of real creativity in what they do and their soups are pretty average but I have to add a star for their brownies, they are BOSS. That is, if you like cream cheese brownies anyway. Fudgy, creamy and delicious. Got to Mati's, it's worth it.

Been going to Mati's for many years and never disappointed. Major lunch business, you can call ahead! Very large very packed sandwiches, great price, super quality ~ EVERY TIME. Like Old Faithful!

  • Barbara D.

I ordered a Reuben and a side of potato salad. The Reuben was good but not great. The corned beef was lean but the sauerkraut, swiss cheese and dressing had little taste. The potato salad was like the kind from GFS. The potatoes were hard, there was a very little bit of celery and some mayo. Not appetizing! I will say that the brownie was delicious.

    (2)
  • Hitesh C.

Wow, compared to Jimmy Johns this place is a monster when it comes to fillings.. It's probably the first time i wasn't able to finish my lunch as the size of the sandwich was a beast. I loved it but wish i hadn't had a breakfast that morning.. come to think of it i didn't have breakfast that morning. If your hungry then go to this place..

Pretty small place, with the potential to be very busy during lunchtime. Nice old-fashioned atmosphere and GREAT sandwiches. Great neighborhood feel too.

My favorite go to Deli. Corned Beef on the double baked Rye with Mustard for the win.The Chili is also some of the best Chili I have ever eaten at a restaurant. Make sure to try one of the Brownies.

I eat here at least once a week. It is pretty much the closest place to work for a meal. I haven't eaten at many delis so I can't really say if Mati's is "the best deli" or whatever. I just know that their sandwiches are excellent and as far as I'm concerned, they are made the way sandwiches are supposed to be made: packed full to overflowing and messy!! I order off the menu, but I usually switch things up a bit, adding and deleting, to get the sandwich I really want. One sandwich that I thought would be horrible and I never tried was Aaron's Last Wish. But then I tried it and it was quite tasty!! Be warned: the place is absolutely packed at lunch time due to Ford workers. Expect to wait. Tip: order online and get a free creme cheese brownie with your order. Yum! Plus you won't have to stand in line, you can just run in and run out. Like I said, I don't know if they are the "best deli" or not, but you could do a LOT worse, in my opinion, than Mati's.

  • Patrick D.

Today was my first visit. Had the Jerry's Club and couldn't hardly get it in my mouth! Fresh and tasty. My friend was with me and he had a Beef Brisket sandwich and he said it was absolutely fabulous! After we ate my friend ordered carry out for later. HIGHLY recommend! We will be coming back even though it's a 40 minute drive.

  • Peggy F.

Meat's are fresh and tasty! Price is a bit on the higher side, almost $10 bucks a sandwich. Don't even think about getting a seat inside during lunch, really busy. But, if I am not near a Bread Basket at lunch this is the next best. Staff is very friendly. Overall, it is a 4 star deli.

    (4)
  • Jeremy M.

Amazing little deli that all too many people probably overlook. The meat in the sandwiches we had was top quality and offered the usual side items you'd find in a mom'n'pop style deli, chips, potato salad, etc. Went there in the afternoon and of course it was quiet, but the staff was quick, very friendly and quick with the order. Can't wait to go back!

    (5)
  • Aaron N.

Great deli. I've been numerous times and am always very pleased with the quality and portion size. All their sandwich choices are primo. I particularly like their chicken salad pita with cheddar cheese and tomatoes. It's nothing fancy as far as chicken salad goes, but sometimes it's just about the basics. Today I had a Paul's Best which is Pastrami and Corned beef with Russian dressing and coleslaw on an Onion roll. D-licious! The only downside was the wait. Lunch time on a Friday is not the time to go. The place is tiny and it was packed with like 30 people, half of whom were waiting for their orders. I can't fault a place for being popular though. Just wish it was bigger. Do they deserve to lose a star for being small? No, I think not.

    (5)
  • William P.

I have only had three sandwiches from there which I guess says something because I normally just find one thing and stick with it. Brian's wish, Paul's best bet, and Louies bbqie are fantastic. Everyone I've taken to this place has loved it.

  • Deyana U.

The Carole was great, the service was so friendly and welcoming, even tho we unknowingly got there so close to closing time, they were quick and welcoming. After I had already paid my baby brother mentioned the cookies looked good (THEY WERE!), the cashier was kind enough to offer him one free because it was already kinda smushy! He couldn't finish his sandwich...but I wanted more. No complaints. This is what you always imagined a sandwich should be!

This is the only REAL Jewish Deli around the Dearborn Area. He has been doing is right for many years now. From the double-baked rye bread that you cant find anywhere else to the award-winning cream cheese brownies, Mati's always hits a home run. My favorite sammy is a "Prime Time" Try One! Best Reuben in Detroit (I have had alot)

  • Dakota W.

I love going to Mati's, my favorite sandwich is Paul's Best Bet. Every sandwich I've had there I really enjoyed though. The service is pretty good too. The only thing I would complain about it that sometimes it takes a little long to wait for your order, depending on how many they have and they're overpriced.

  • Bitsy S.

I've been going to Mati's since it opened. My favorite all time sandwich (which is no longer on the menu) is roast beef on thin rye with cream cheese and honey mustard. Under the original owner, it was called the Kristin's Kibitz but Lou has taken it off the menu. I can still request it though. I think their sandwiches are great. I'm not a fan of the brownies but I do like the carrot cake. I agree that the prices are high.

  • Bill O.

Best Cheesecake Brownie ever! The Chicken Pita adding cheddar is a great call, and big enough to share. If you have to impress some clients stop in and grab a dozen brownies to take to your meeting.

  • トモ T.

Highly over rated Deli in Dearborn with big lines during lunch hours. I just don't see what everyone else sees in this place. Why pay premium for average sandwich? Ok, I'm not asking that you drive 45 minutes to Zingerman's Deli ( yelp.com/biz/fQ8c9S6jitK… ) for lunch, but I prefer picking up a sandwich at Monroe Bakery ( yelp.com/biz/1ru-F3sdbab… ).

There's something about Mati's sandwiches that make them better than everybody else. The rueben is amazing. The price is a bit high on the high side, but based on how busy this place gets, I'm guessing it's not that big of a deal for most. Please stay open for dinner!

Terrible. Dry. Overpriced. The bread crust literally cut the top of my mouth. They nickel and dime you on toppings ($1 extra for lettuce and tomatoes). I paid $9 for an awful roast beef sandwich. Don't go here. This place needs to go.

I've been coming here regularly for years. The sandwiches are very good. I learned a while back though that the soups are too salty and the salads rather mediocre; they use iceberg lettuce primarily which is unacceptable . The woman who takes your order is great and always is happy to explain the menu. The staff preparing the food is in direct view behind the ordering counter and always look bitter, or angry. It's an odd juxtaposition considering how friendly the woman taking the order relates. There is seating inside and limited seating outside.

Drove past this place a millions times and finally stopped and picked up some lunch. Small indoor space with some outdoor seating. Pretty busy place during lunch time. People were in and out non stop. Mostly business casual people. Decent size menu. Typical deli items including sandwiches, slaw, potato salad and soups. The sandwich I had was OK. It reminded me of the days when you have nothing to eat. So you raid the fridge and make a sandwich out of whatever you have in there. Slap a little BBQ on it with some week old, stale bread. Again it was OK. Just seemed very bland. The lady at the front counter was really friendly. Line made its way out the door behind me. I stood there for about 15 min before it was my turn and there was only 2 people in front of me! They need a second person up there during lunch. I'd probably stop in again and give them another try with a different sandwich.

I'm with the underwhelmed group regarding Mati's. The location is great, off the beaten path in Dearborn and they have a cool old school vibe. The staff was great!! Friendly, accommodating and they kept things moving. Unfortunately, the downside was the food. It was... OK. The pastrami was a little fatty and didn't have much flavor. The corned beef didn't have that typical sweet the good stuff has, and also didn't have much flavor. The chicken noodle soup... Not much flavor. The bread was good and you could have a heel with your soup. All in all, not bad, but I'm not sure I'll go back.

Love the Ellens- corned beef, dressing, cole slaw. I get it every time, but will be trying the chicken salad next time upon a recommendation! I also want to try the cream cheese brownies after reading this review!!

We want to go back and try different items because I am sure they are all excellent.

you must stop at this place if you are reading this review and you need Lunch "nearby" it's a 5-star, i only give out a few of them, this is on that list. They don't do much, but what they do, they do 5 star all the way. They have Knish with gravy, what else needs to be said! one slight suggestion: get better pickels... they are good, but not 5-star. only thing missing from the total New York Deli is the pickle. Needs to be firm and crisp.

Best deli in the metro area--and Lou is the best delicatessen owner in Metro Detroit. Classic corned beef, great beef brisket, the best deli mustard around. Little cramped but take it to go; it's worth it.

Wow... maybe my tastes are a bit skewed, but I really thought that Mati's was nothing much more than OK.

This place is a good deli. The sandwiches are on the small side but the selections are always good. The service is second to none. Cheryl always greets me with a smile and great service.while its no bread basket it is one of the best in Dearborn

  • Aaron N.

Best Cheesecake Brownie ever! The Chicken Pita adding cheddar is a great call, and big enough to share. If you have to impress some clients stop in and grab a dozen brownies to take to your meeting.

Been here a dozen or so times, always top notch. The coleslaw is great, soups are fresh and the sandwiches are superb. I usually get the "Prime Time" and it always fills me up... great anytime you want a great lunch!

When I want corned beef, this is the spot! Great rye bread with a crispy, chewy crust is what you'll find cradling the high quality stacked corned beef. I am so glad this place is around. Delicious!
