Excellent food at reasonable prices! Waitress was extremely nice and patient. Worth the 1.5 hour drive from where I live. Would defiantly come back again!

What can I say but why do you say it hasn't basically already been said. It is your classic seafood restaurant, but one of the things that I haven't seen mention very much is there Samwood selection. It is quite good, and as I often to 10 business meetings at this location, I find myself more often in a sandwich mood then a big dinner or seafood mood. The menu is pretty big, and as has been mentioned several times the salad bar is always fresh and quite large as well. They have a pretty good selection of alcohol as well if your so inclined. Yes, the Decores a little dated, but that is also part of the charm. If you're there a certain time of night, don't let the sound of the nightly Amtrak train scare you: your right next to the tracks! Overall, I highly recommend Whiteys. I've been going there since I was quite little, and the food is always first-rate.

Their fish has went down hill if you compare to other family restaurant their fish looks cheap and expensive they have a buffet that keeps food their all day specially side bar unhealthy

Excellent seafood. The salmon with mashed potatoes is the best! Great fish and chips- the batter is flaky, perfectly textured. The salad bar is usually pretty good and their soups are homemade. You can get their yummy sweet potato fries as a substitute for French fries with your sandwich, which is a plus. As for dessert, top off your meal with a delicious slice of carrot cake. It's huge and you need two people to split it.

To say I was sufficiently impressed is an understatement, :). Golden, flaky cod, a superb salad bar with a plethora of selections that transcend your normal salad bar fare, impressive menu and a really great, cheery staff. Sat at the bar & struck up a conversation with a few of the local/regular customers ... they were great too! It wasn't 'dining-out' as much as it was just a pleasant 'dining experience'. :) Two thumbs up!

I had the yellow perch. It was very good for a restaurant perch dinner. It's hard to find real yellow lake perch these days. Most places fake it with imported zander or some other imposter. They also have walleye and bluegill on the menu. Wish it was closer to Royal Oak.

After 60 years in business I think they know what their doing. This is a fish house. With fish and chips family style being the star. First we'll start a the salad bar, which on first look doesn't seem like much. Well, take a better look sonnyboy. Freise(?) lettuce, and peanuts and peas, I've never heard of this combo but it was good, and some yummy pickled beets. also some homemade macaroni salads. Now on to the star COD. We had the fried which were some of the moistest pieces of fish I've ever had, in fact everyone at the table mentioned how moist these were. And tasty crunchy yumminess. Served with bowls of French fries. When ordering family style when you reorder you can get as many as you want. Go for a nice drive and check Whiteys out

I had heard a lot of good things about Whitey's and it was my husband and I's anniversary, so we decided to give it a try. Being that we both work in food service (he's a chef and I'm a server) we are usually pretty particular about our dining experiences. That said, Whitey's was awesome and passed every test! The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is the server we had was more of an order taker than a server...she didn't suggest wine or beer..and she was a little on the slow side. But she was young, so I am thinking she will learn over time that the more she sells the more she makes and the better both hers and the guest's experience will be overall. As for the food, that also got one star taken away. My husband ordered the cod and shrimp which was a good bargain for the price, factoring in the salad bar and bread, but he said the shrimp tasted like it came from a bag out of the freezer. He ate all of the cod, however, saying it was especially good and left the shrimp for the take home box for the kids, lol. I ordered a dish with fried perch, bluegill and walleye. Although I usually prefer perch pan-fried with a cornmeal breading this was delicious and the bluegill reminded me of being a kid and eating the fresh caught bluegill my father and I would bring in from our fishing adventures. The salad bar is awesome and the bread is to die for. The ambiance is nice too. Super romantic. We sat at a table next to a glass wall that looked out on a path and courtyard. The only downfall of the ambiance was the sign outside blinking bright, but what can ya do? Overall, I loved the place and will definitely be back for more! I plan on taking my father soon!

My wife and I went there because we heard that the fish and chips are really good and they are. The salad bar is also pretty good and the service was friendly. We'll be back.

After hearing how great this place is by numerous people that I know, I had to give it a shot. I should have known by the greasy fish aroma that wafted through the parking lot what kind of meal I was in store for. I love family-owned businesses and this one has been here for 57 years (according to their sign outside). I walked in and thought I was at a Ponderosa. The cheap decor was not what I was expecting. After perusing the menu, I opted for the jumbo shrimp and the hubby got their "famous" cod. I liked the fact that the dinners came with a trip to the unlimited salad bar. The salad was delish, green olives and eggs made it on my salad, most places don't offer that...and they had the "good" ranch. The bread..yummy, garlic, warm, buttery goodness. I will give them 5 stars for that. The seafood..um, not so good. The cod, I've had better at a Ram's Horn. The shrimp, greasy, and the texture was quite rubbery. The mashed potatoes were luke warm and in the shape of an ice cream scooper. I had to season them myself with quite a bit of salt and pepper. For 2 pieces of cod and 6 pieces of shrimp, $30 was the tab...I've had better elsewhere and we won't be coming back here. Not sure why they have been in business for so long...

Outside: Davidson downtown nothing good or bad Inside: Local feel, clean Food: Fish is really good, salad bar is just that, few choices no cottage cheese Service: Really bad, although it could have been great Cost: The catch is costly We went for a quick good inexpensive Friday lunch on a recommendation. We were met at the door by six smilingly waitresses. Walking by the salad bar, the special board, and the smell of fish it looked like we were going to have a great lunch. We were seated and put our order for drinks in. They took forever to get to to us. We ask a few questions and placed our orders. The salad bar seemed good but was disappointed when the choices were slim. Both sides of the bar are the same and no cottage cheese. Drinks were not refilled till we asked. The thing is they were not busy, it seemed like they should be, fish on Good Friday. The fish was great and the highlight. Overall not bad but the price was too much for the food and the lack of service. Again we walked in looking at six waitresses and no service. That is what takes this from a 3 to a 2.

Love this place. We go quite a bit. Drive thru is awesome, my daughter always wants a key lime pie and though it's not on the drive thru menu they will always run in to get a piece for us. They have the best fish I've ever had!

I was visiting from out of town and my friend suggested this place. Being from the coast, I hesitate to eat seafood when I travel. We went to the drive through, ordered the fish n' chips dinner. I couldn't wait to get home to eat it and sat there in the parking lot. I finished that meal in record time. Let me clarify: The fish was not greasy, rather a touch oily from the fryer. But that's how its supposed to be! The batter was perfect. It added flavor to the fish, and I could clearly distinguish the flavor of the cod through the batter. I could taste the fish!! The coleslaw was the perfect dip for the fish, don't think I even touched the dipping sauce. Will definitely visit again next time I'm in town. Really good fish'n'chips!!!

Pricey selections, not fresh. We have been 4 times since there is a limited selection of seafood places in this area, each time we try to give them the benefit of doubt. The décor is aging but still interesting, the bar area is ridiculously small, fish takeout is very busy but overpriced. They still do good business so what do I know?

THE most amazing fish and chips! I've eaten fish and chips at almost every restaurant around the Flint area, and nobody comes close. Deep fried is my fave, but the blackened is also too notch.

We loved this place! Truly cozy and casual yet nice for an upscale dinner. Good fish and food all around. Great big salad bar! Not a super fancy upscale eatery but a very enjoyable family dining experience.

Two (out of 5) of us got very sick after eating. Strange since we had two different entrees. I had the fried fish and the other person had the crispy chicken salad. The only thing in common was that they were both deep fried. Fried fish was ok, but very greasy. I kinda had that feeling like I shouldn't finish my meal, but I did anyway. Well, I should listened to myself since I suffered for the next couple hours in the bathroom. We definitely will not be returning anytime soon.

We were happy we stopped here on a road trip. The salad bar was fresh and nutritious. My husband got his fish blackened but I thought the traditional fish&chips was worth the extra calories. It was as good as I've had in London. Chelsea gave us good service and the place was clean and reasonably priced.

My family has been coming to Whitey's for YEARS. THIS IS HANDS DOWN THE BEST FISH I HAVE HAD IN MY LIFE. It will always be, I'm sure of it. The restaurant is adorned with nets and sea-fare garb, and there are long stretches of windows along the east end, facing M-15 highway. The fish : tender pieces of flaky white cod, with medium breading (some secret recipe) that doesn't overwhelm the delicate flavor of the fish, served with a classic mayo-relish tarter sauce. The fries : typical. at times a bit floppy or too soft, but still very tasty. The coleslaw : chopped finely with a bit of a horseradish bite, and not too heavy on the mayo. I can't really express how good the fish is here. I tried. But until you try too, you won't understand. MMMMMMMMMMMMM! P.S. The prices are great.

The fried cod is good. As is the salad bar, I enjoy the mesclun mix of greens. So nice to see lettuces that taste good on their own being featured instead of iceberg. The rest is a wash: service is OK, but won't allow substitutions; fries were soggy and not seasoned; the shrimp were pulled from a freezer and plopped in the fry-a-later (I hope, otherwise that cook needs to be fired on the spot). The cod was decent and sweet, but so what? Congratulations on deep-frying a piece of cod. For twelve bucks, I wish I could have gotten a nicely seared cod served with a lemon aioli or an herbed butter over greens, but instead the portions had to be tripled and deep-fried. Upon reflection, I realize this restaurant was not for me, it is essentially a long john silvers and nothing more.
