I really like Lucky's. I've had a pasta dish there that was really good, but normally I just get the wedge salad for dinner and it is to die for (I know, I know, it's just a wedge) but with the bread and butter, it's all I need to be happy! I don't think my husband has ever liked his food here, but he always orders the wrong thing (seriously!) and he always likes my food. Never had their steak, but my brother loves it. I give it 4 stars because the food isn't the best (for the price) I've ever had, but it's still really good. Overall, my family really likes it and we go every year after going Christmas tree hunting! - as a side note, there's always quite a wait.

I don't even know where to begin reviewing this place. Everything on the menu is great, you couldn't go wrong. They have a house brewed beer (called "Lucky's Ale", I think) that is really good. Their desserts are INSANELY huge, and very fresh. We like to get a slice of their cheesecake or the carrot cake to take home. They are both the size of a small continent. For appetizers, my favorite is the stuffed mushrooms or the fish tacos. For dinner, I flip flop between the House Cut Porterhouse with Mac and cheese or the seafood stuffed salmon with cheddar broccoli. The meals are served with their homemade Lucky bread, which is so good it deserves a whole seperate review of its own. Soup or salad comes with your meal as well, and the potato cheese is their most popular, but the French onion is awesome too! We ALWAYS request to sit on the bar side, even if we are with a group. It's more comfortable and cozier somehow. The ambience there is really phenomenal. Even though the waitstaff is in starched white shirts and ties, and the napkins are linen, you can go there casually. It doesn't matter if you're wearing a tee shirt and jeans or a suit or dress. Just make sure your pants are stretchy, because you are going to leave very full!

I went there yesterday (Sunday). I was just out for a ride and stumbled on this place. I ordered a porterhouse. They are usually a really safe steak. It is hard to mess up a good porterhouse. So, I tasted it and it was terrible. It had a strange taste that I assumed was probably their own rub or something like that. I could have gotten past the strange taste but it was also one of the toughest sreaks I have ever tried. I was so excited when I discovered this restaurant and so disappointed when I left. If that strange taste was a rub, please let the cook know it isn't necessary. Just cook the steak.

It was, meh. A little pricey, yes - but still under $30 for two people. Our friend praised the potato soup, and said it was the best part of his meal. I thought the steak was really good, happy they had Raspberry Vinaigrette dressing, but she didn't give me a lemon with my water, my bf received fries instead of the onion rings he ordered, no smiles, and it took a long time to get the bill with only half the place full. Would I return? Not likely

Lucky's food is good, and well priced. Their restaurant has a good, relaxing atmosphere, and they have an excellent selection of steaks and delicious food. The one time I was there, the service left something to be desired. We waited a while before our waitress showed up, and she was not too polite and slow to refill our drinks. That said, the food and price made up for her service.

Absolutely delicious Filet steaks! I'm not sure what kind of wood they grill/smoke with with, but my filet was perfect, tasty, and fine! Our waitress "Alex" was great too!

Food quality awesome as usual however the service today was certainly not up to par. Both my wife and I would highly recommend this place to friends and family!

It's only 5:15 and very busy. We are here for our 22nd anniversary. Looking forward to a great steak. I ordered a filet and it was perfect. The meat was cooked exactly as I ordered and it was very juicy and very tender. Service was great. Our server was very attentive. Did a great job. I will be returning.......

Nothing to say but AMAZING food. The only downfall is how busy they get; normally there is a wait, but that wait is well worth it!

Came here over the weekend as a part of 7.5. Was seated quickly, just before their dinner rush started piling in. We were sat right inside the door, which was a little cramped for all of us, and we constantly had people walking behind us, which was tolerable. The bread was very good, I give them that. I had filled up on that mostly. The side salad was not anything super exciting, just your basic side salad. My steak was good, but their zip sauce is unlike the zip sauce that you get at other steakhouses. The menu said that it'd come with the zip sauce, but I had none on my plate and had to ask for it. I got the macaroni and cheese as my side- which looked great, but didn't taste great. It was bland and didn't have a lot of cheese flavor- or a very good texture. I'd pass on that side in the future. It was good enough- but I don't think that it is a whole lot better than your standard chain-steakhouse fare.

Worse steak EVER! Ordered the most expensive porterhouse steak that was overcooked and tougher than hell. Another ordered the filet minion which was also overcooked and tough. When we told the waitress about it she said she would tell the manager, but nothing was done about it and we received NO discount. Don't waste your money here! It was definitely not worth the $25.00 a plate price!!!

So I went to have lunch with a friend of mine and this was my first visit at this location here in Davison. We walked in to be seated and was totally ignored by employee's walking pass us WTF! My friend was carrying her newborn in her carrier and I thought her poor arm was going to fall off after waiting for about 7 mins and then finally were seated. Waitress was very nice and was all over her job and the food was good also, but I think I will just stick to my favorite location in Clio.

To be honest, I used to be one of those Davison residents that was pretty underwhelmed with Lucky's. Like many others have pointed out, the wait to get a table can be out the door. Also, as someone who has had one too many bad steaks (think overcooked, chewy, poorly seasoned), I rarely chance my dinner to the 'spensive cuts of cow and opt for a sandwich or burger. And then last night. Last night this place blew my expectations out of the water. The filet mignon was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. Best steak I've ever had? Oh, without question. I would order this steak again and again if it were guaranteed to taste exactly like that. Melt in your mouth? Juicy? Tender? Perfectly seasoned? Yep, it was all those things. Sadly, mom's on-the-chewy-side prime rib was not worth the $13 price tag. Seems to be hit or miss with steak orders? THE BREAD, on the other hand. All-you-can-eat, fresh-from-the-oven bags of baguettes? I eat at least one whole loaf for dinner, and take another to savor at home. If your steak happens to be a dud, at least you can find solace in those heavenly homemade slices.

This is the original Lucky's. They have several successful locations. Their food is very good and reasonably priced. Be prepared to wait on weekends because sometimes it takes an hour to get a seat. They are busy but most good restaurants are. I've had $200 steaks at Gordon Ramsey restaurant and walked out claiming I got a better steak at Lucky's in my home town. Lucky's may not be the best steak you've ever eaten .... But I guarantee you it's the best steak you've had for under $20 bucks. We're regulars at Lucky's. We eat there all the time. It is our favorite restaurant and that's saying alot. I'd give them 5 stars if not for a few things. 1) Inconsistency sometimes my steak is perfect and top notch 5 star steak and sometimes it's average 3 star steak. I think on busy nights they tend to turn the flame up and cook the steaks too fast. On busy nights I tend to go Prime Rib because its much harder to over cook. All in all a bad steak at Lucky's is usually better then a steak you get most other places. All their steaks are a good choice but my favorite is the Ribeye & Porterhouse. The Bread is awesome but is also inconsistent. I'm told they have two bread makers. One is special and you can't stop eating it. The other is meh! But it's endless and delicious on most nights. Lately it's been much more consistent. The soup - Luckys homemade soups are some of the best you will ever have. My favorite is the potato but my wife's is the French onion. Substitute soup for your salad and you will not be disappointed. Their jumbo shrimp scampi , crab legs and many of their fish dinners are pretty good for you sea food lovers. All in all Luckys is a very good family run hometown steak house that does things very well. Their priced well and you won't leave there hungry. For the money there's just nothing better. If you have a bad experience don't give up on them. Their worth a 2nd, 3rd and forth trip. A bad night at Luckys is a 3 star a good night is a 5 star. So they get 4 stars from me. On most nights their a 5 star. Give them a chance you won't regret it. Advice to the owners at Luckys. 1) Remove the young teenage girls as your hostess and greeters. 2) Work on the consistency.

Best steak I've had at a restaurant in Genesee County. Incredibly low prices and quality meat. I've been several times and have had the top sirloin and rib eye. The sirloin is my favorite, ordered rare and cooked to perfection with a thin, nicely charred crust. They don't over season like some kitschy, Aussie-themed chain; the meat speaks for itself. Generous portions, including the sides - the sweet potato is nearly the size of a nerf football. The bread is very reminiscent of Kruse and Muer and alone worth the visit. Almost always a full house, but rarely much of a wait. I've never been disappointed.

I eat all over the United States and this ranks on the higher end of the food quality! Service is ok, and if you come at prime time you will have to wait a few to get a seat, but it's packed for a reason and that is the good to great food! The wife and I like to eat here as often as we can, it's one of the better places in the area and the food is consistent! You know what your going to get every time and that is a good meal.

I am sort of an amateur steak aficionado, always looking for the next best steak house. Lucky's has held the title since our first visit 10 years ago. The filet compares with Ruth's Chris or the Golden Ox in Kansas City plus it usually comes with a shrimp side

  • B Y.

It's basically like an Outback Steakhouse. Their homemade bread is quite tasty. I had the 8 oz prime rib with side of sweet potato fries. It was good. Nothing fancy.

I LOVE THIS PLACE!! The service is exceptional, the bread is orgasmic, and the food is outstanding. I have sampled the mahi, the salmon, and the fillet and enjoyed them all. They give you so much food that you are truly stuffed at the end. The Wedge Salad, oh how I love thee! I ended up coming here twice in the same week, by accident, and the bartender even remembered what I drank (good customer service). The only down side of the place is that is extremely busy and be prepared to wait at least 45 mins to over an hour for a table...pack your patience people.

  • Kalyn M.

Good, Classic American food. If you're looking for something you've never tried or some bold, exciting, adventurous dining experience, this isn't the place. If you're looking for tasty, comfortable standards (steak and potatoes, chicken and veggies, ect.) then you should come here. Their bread is addicting. You won't leave disappointed.

LOVE LOVE LOVE LUCKYS!!!!! We go there often for work but on a Tuesday night my man and I decided to have a date night. There was about a 20 minute wait which is always worth the wait. Our Server was Jeff and he was FANTASTIC. One of the best servers I have ever had. I got the Filet Mignon cooked medium and Bradley got the New York Strip cooked Medium Well. Our food was cooked PERFECTLY! Best Filet I've ever had. There bread is to die for. Will continue to go back on a weekly basis

Horrible. Had party of seven and two kids, took 45 minutes and then two steaks were cooked totally wrong. Instead of medium they were well done. Then when the new ones come out, one was the wrong steak, ny strip instead of top sirloin and other was we'll done again. Finally gave up on trying so manager came over and could give a crap, all she kept saying was sorry we are just busier then normal, been to all the locations now but won't Ever be back to this one.

Really good. Bread was great; French onion soup great. Filet was pretty darn good but not super premium. The vale though was phenomenal. Highly recommend.

Went shopping in Birch Run this past weekend and on my way back South, I stopped at Lucky's for a late dinner with my moms. The service was excellent. The waitress seemed a little cheesy whilst fishing for tips (over-complimenting) but I understand the business; I can let that slide. As for the food, also excellent. I had the 12 oz. prime rib and the meat was super tender. You could cut it up with a spoon (not kidding). The Au Jus sauce was so-so though. Thankfully, I ordered a side of Zip Sauce which was mighty, mighty tasty. My broccoli cheddar was cooked to perfection also. Might I mention the bread?! It's unlimited bread and it was hot and fresh every time. Oh, and my potato bacon soup that came as my side was also, very delicious. I totally enjoyed my meal through and through. Plus, I had so many leftovers that I was able to bring home a box and have another complete meal (BONUS!!!). The only thing I wasn't too crazy about was my margarita. It was overly frozen and had little flavor. Other than that, my meal and the service were spot on. The atmosphere was average and the place seemed clean. I will go again.

the wait was about an hour for a Friday night, not bad the bread was yummy i had to push it away, great portions the martinis are fab also the raspberry & Georgia peach are the way to go. The sweet potato with brown sugar melts in your mouth. Everyone at the table got the prime rib and were raving about it. I got all the sides, mash garlic potatoes, asparagus, spinach, and mushrooms the veggies were soo good! Def recommend ! Also try the horseradish sauce!

Superb! We have never had a bad meal at Lucky's! We highly recommend this establishment. It's casual, not stuffy like the other steakhouses that charge you an arm and a leg for atmosphere but don't deliver on taste. The food is always delicious, and you won't be blindsided by the bill. Great food at a great price!!

I have eaten at Lucky's more times than I can count and I've never been disappointed. Expect long wait times if you go on weekends or holidays. I have always found the servers to be very friendly (and not dressed inappropriately as one reviewer said) and the bread is to die for.

I knew I was going to have good luck when I saw both sides of a rainbow on my way to Lucky's! The good thing is that there wasn't any luck needed with the quality of the food at Lucky's! I enjoyed my sirloin very much! cooked great and tons of seasoning. I was really impressed. I looked at everyones meals at the table and the NY strip, stuffed grouper, prime rib, and lamb chops all looked great! I also loved that the prices were very very reasonable! Lucky's is a must if in Davison, MI.

Lines out the door most nights. They live up to their name by offering choice meats. Their steaks are Angus beef only. The attempted ambience is that of a midwest chain type brewpub with random signs and posters strewn on the walls. I think I saw a stuffed moose or something. The waitstaff is excellent and with their constant refills, breadsticks galore and impeccable memory for the various beer requests I would give them 5 stars. Worthwhile restaurant in this little town.

Visited this establishment not expecting much. Unfortunately, even those modest expectations were NOT met. My party of two waited over an hour for a table, then once seated it was another 30 minutes before we were even acknowledged by waitstaff. They had 15 year old girls dressed unprofessionally (use your imagination, it was inappropriate) serving as the hostess as you entered the building. That should have been a giant red flag in itself. The food was good once it was delivered, but then it was another 25 minutes before the waittress came back around to see if we needed refills. The place was packed yet they had off duty back room staff taking up valuable tables for their meal breaks - inappropriate. A follow up complaint to the management by written correspondence was never even acknowledged let alone replied to. Needless to say I will never return there and will not recommend it to others.

One of my favorite area restaurants! We eat here often if you come 10 times your food will be spot on 9 of them. The bread they give you is always great, some of the best I have had.. The down side is they get really busy (good sign) and the wait can be tough on popular nights, but they are consistent and reasonably priced for the quality of food you get. You don't leave here hungry..

    (4)
  • David S.

Kinda an Applebee's atmosphere, food quality about the same, except they have the "almost best French Dip" on a homemade bun, except you have to take ten minutes to pick the globby fat out of the meat before its editable, spend the ten minuits and have the bast French Dip you've ever had. Just begs the question, why is the customer fixing his own food?

Went here for my aunt's 50th birthday party with 70 people in attendance. Our server was absolutely "outstanding*. My family was keeping her busy for sure and she had a smile on her face the whole time and didn't forget or mess up a thing. I split the crab cakes for an app and they were really great--much more crab meat than breading which is what I always look for in good crab cakes. My salmon salad was ok; the fresh mozz had little to no flavor and the dressing was kind of cheap and "blah" for a more gourmet salad. I will say that everyone around me loved their steaks which were done to med-rare perfection and I have a feeling the steaks are what they're known for here. (Oh, their bread is good, too, although salty and processed tasting--we kept referring to it as "high end crazy bread".) All in all, I enjoyed my experience and this is a perfect place to take someone with a less adventurous palate. This is the kind of place you take your grandparents after a day at the mall or something and I don't mean that as a slight. Luckys does a great job at what they do--feeding the mid-Michigan suburban sprawl crowd. Will I drive to Davison for a visit? Probably not, as it's not my thing. Would I mind going here again with my aunt and uncle? Not one bit! P.S. While we were waiting, I treated my brother and husband and bought two margaritas and a white russian. My bill? $13.95. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.

We have eaten at Lucky's in Davison many many times over the years. The Waitresses can be hit or miss. Most are very friendly and have a smile. A few of them always seems to be having a bad day and it makes for a less than enjoyable visit. The bread is good. For some reason the first loaf to the table is sometimes a little hard and stale, but the second loaf is always soft, warm, and fresh. The meats used to always be consistently excellent quality and well portioned for the money. But over the past year or so, the quality of their meats has declined and the portions have gotten smaller. I treated some of my family to lunch last week. A few of us got their NY Strip sandwich on the specials board. They were all small, thin, and over cooked, I felt bad for recommending it. The Reuben sandwiches had so little sauerkraut it was embarrassing. The salads are always excellent...well put together, consistent in portion, and taste good. Sometimes the soft drinks taste of bad well water. We usually ask for a lemon to mask that taste. Other times, they taste fine. The atmosphere in the dining area is starting to look a little dated. It could use some updates and the TV's are terribly small by today's standards. Overall Lucky's is a decent place to dine.

This is THE place for steak in Genesee County. And their bread with butter? Forget about your caloric goals for the day. They are good with substitutions in the dishes and their service is pretty top notch. There's a somewhat dressy feel for this place but the inside is kinda like an upscale roadhouse - I'll still rock some yoga pants in here when I want.

I took a day off from work and this was supposed to be a treat for my wife and I. What a disappointment. There were only about 10 cars in the parking lot so they weren't busy. When we got in the hostess showed us to our table in a very business like way with no smiles. When we got to our table we had to ask for a high-chair for our toddler that I was holding in my arms. She informed us that she had to move us to a different table because there wasn't enough room for the high chair at the first table. She saw the toddler but never bothered to ask whether we wanted a booster or a high chair. She looked a little put out having to move us to a new table. Heh, the toddler wasn't invisible, that's on her. Then we had the "joy" of having a waiter who must have been drinking from the same fountain as the hostess: no smiles, all business. Can you tell that a smile is very important to us when we go out to eat? He finally broke a smile when it was time to present our bill. Really? My wife ordered a hamburger and I ordered a Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich We both felt the same way, the meat didn't seem to be seasoned at all, very bland. We came here because of previous visits that were superb. This visit will make us think twice about coming back.

Terrible service!! If you like waiting for your table, food and waitress forever go here. Appetizer came after dinner, couldn't buy a gift card without waiting in line for over 30 minutes! Hostess standing around chatting but said it's not her job to help me! Wow, couldn't get bartenders to give me change for tip. Shall I go on??? Hillbilly steak house at best. Goto Oakland county for good food. I've been a waitress for years and normally tip BIG. But forget it here!!

Pretty good. I've had Lucky's before in my life but hadn't in a while. Stopped in on the way home from up north and had the twin filets with shrimp. Not sure what the point was of two 4 oz filets instead of one 8, or even one 7...but they were pretty damn tasty. The side salad was meh, bread was great and the coconut shrimp were a good appetizer. Not a bad place at all and pretty affordable for a steakhouse.
