Without a doubt, my favorite Mexican food in the area. You have to find what you like and stick with it. I love the "medium" tacos. And anything with gravy on it is great. The gravy has a delicious flavor. The only mistake in ordering I have made is the Seafood Burrito... it was just mostly imitation crab me and a not-delicious white sauce. But the chips, wet burritos, enchiladas, and tacos are fantastic.

So we came in and the floor was insanely filthy! No one made any effort no apologize for this-- ick! NO three second rule here!!! We waited over 20 minutes for a sever to come and take our order. The food was ok. My food was not plated correctly-- I took a bite and food fell off the plate--in addition they left off an ingredient! Husband is not interested in coming back!

I reeeeeeeeally wanted to love this place. I knew they were tied to Tia Helita's in Flint, which I absolutely love, despite the fact that it's been steadily going downhill. You have to pay for the chips and salsa, which is a huge bummer, but they're totally worth it (best chips ever, in my opinion). The menu was seriously lacking. I ended up ordering the chicken taco salad (half order), my husband got the chicken fajita lunch special, and my 3 year old got the cheese quesadilla. My husband's food was okay. The chicken was rubbery and had that not freshly cooked texture. My son's quesadilla was literally just a tortilla with shredded cheddar cheese in the middle that had solidified when we got it. He didn't eat it. My salad was pretty good. Most people would probably not be too impressed, but I love their salsa and just loaded the salad with salsa and enjoyed it. Our meal came out to over $30 and we had zero leftovers. It was insanely overpriced and nothing (besides the chips and salsa) was amazing. We will probably never dine-in here again. So not worth the money.

I only give them a 4 because of the poor service. The food is always excellent and the wait is never more than a few minutes which is why my wife and I love coming here. However we always hesitate because the service is typically subpar. The homemade chip are a must!

It's a lovely restaurant. The decor is not over done. The service is very good, employees are extremely helpful and courteous. The pico was very fresh with just enough spice. The chicken was grilled perfectly not too moist but not bone dry, just the right amount of seasoning. The rice was a perfect consistency, not so loose it didn't stick, but not sticky to the point of staying on my fork. The beans were not watery and soupy, but not like dry clay just the right consistency needed. Definitely going back again!

Nice meal I had the seafood burrito light cheesey sauce. My meal partners had a beef enchilada he found it perfectly seasoned moist. The other had the chicken chimny loaded with chicken. Meal price are great. Wait servers a little inexperienced. The girl who brought us our food said honestly I don't know what any of this is..over all a solid meal

El Charrito's is one of the best Mexican restaurants in Genesee county. Their food always taste fresh and homemade. I have tried a number of their dishes and I have never been disappointed. Service could be a bit better for take out, but its not that big of a deal to wait a few minutes.

Who charges for tortilla chips on your table? This place does...odd, yes. The place was drafty, I had to keep my coat on throughout the entire meal. The food was great tho, I got the beef enchilada dinner. Plenty of sides with this..not only the rice and beans, but some kind of meat/gravy thing. It was actually pretty good. Psst...NO BAR HERE either, total bummer.I was looking forward to a margarita. Not sure if I'll be back or not, maybe in the summer so I won't have to wear my coat.

My favorite Mexican Restaurant. Some of my fav's - Beef Wet Burrito, Chimichanga, Seafood Burrito, Chix Golden Taco, beans & chips and salsa. The beef is like stew meat and so good. I love all their meat - Chix, hamburger meat, and beef are so good I have a hard time deciding every time I come here. I order A la carte so I can have a Wet Burrito & a Golden Taco! They do charge for Chips & Salsa but they are homemade - not from a bag. Love them! Try a half order of beans to dip chips in. I'm not a fan of their Queso - the one thing that could be improved. They also don't have a liquor license, so no Margarita w/ dinner. I've adjusted because I love the food!!! I've heard people rave over their burgers but I've yet to try one. The staff has always been so nice & I've never had bad service here. W/ 2 people eating are bill is usually never over $20, so it's very affordable. I look fwd to next time! As for other comments of "Who charges for chips & salsa?" I would say a Mexican restaurant that doesn't serve alcohol. Bar bills PAY for all the FREE salty eats.

Heard great things about this restaurant , but it didnt live up to it. Some dishes were good others very mediocre ! Prices were decent but charging 2.25 for chips..come on!

Eh, they charge for chips and salsa, do not sit in the center of the room, they can't control the ac so it's a constant cool breeze, we needed coats. Wet burrito dinner was good. Probably won't return, better Mexican in grand blanc.

This is as good as mexican gets in Michigan! It definitely edges toward Tex-Mex with the amount of cheese and various (delicious) sauces. A lot of folks don't understand authentic Mexican is stuff like lengua and soups with leftover meats, a ton of onions and cilantro - not the cheese and deep-fried shells we are used to as Americans. That said, we won't talk authenticity. This food is great by our expectations as meat and dairy craving westerners. If you're such a penny-pencher that you can't swing the $2.25 for a large, overflowing basket of homemade and perfectly seasoned chips... I'm going to suggest you stay home and count your pennies. My guess is you are also a poor tipper and general malcontent. Those of us who have budgeted ourselves for meals out will thank you for not joining us. Golden tacos, enchiladas, wet burritos, stew meat = where it's at.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
