Totally impressed!!!!!! Our server Nick was very nice and despite being the only one there at lunch time......you wouldn't have know it. Food came out fast and it was so plentiful. You do not go away hungry. We ordered Beef Brisket French Dips.....great choice. The house BBQ sauce is phenomenal! My only complaint would be that I wish the brisket would have been shredded and not thick sliced.

This place is somewhat difficult to locate in the Coruna/Owosso area but it is truly a hidden gem. They have a TON of local Michigan brews on tap that rotate every 4-6 weeks. They have a beer that will fit any taste buds out of the 12-16 that are on tap. The bar area is pretty small but the bartenders are always friendly and talkative. They will offer food advice as well as drink advice. The food itself is very good BBQ for Michigan. True smoky flavor and not the same old grilled flavor that the mainstream places have. The ribs are VERY good naked. The dry rub is a nice blend of sweet and smoky. The sauces available at the table finish the ribs off nicely with a slight touch of orange soda flavoring. These are not fall off the bone ribs, but they are worth the extra effort it takes to eat them. The side dishes are pretty standard BBQ sides, with one exception; the homemade BBQ chips. These things are GREAT. I really wish they sold them by the bag. The chips have a great seasoning blend on them and they are always fried to perfection. Easily the best potato chips I've ever had anywhere. Give this place a try if you like true authentic, smoked BBQ. It will not disappoint - order extra chips!!

Was in the area for work. Found this gem of a BBQ place via yelp. The beer selection is vast and the BBQ is fantastic! Do yourself a favor and try the burnt ends and the Mac & cheese! Some of the best BBQ I've had in a long time!

I want to start of and say I really like this place myself. The food varieties are great and it is always sooo good. My last visit didn't go the smoothest however. I went there with my girlfriend wanting to show her this treasure in Corunna. We got there about an hour after they had opened. The waiter which I believed to also be a manager was very helpful. Although when I went to order they seamed to be out or not ready to serve variance food items I was hopping to get which was quite disappointing most being there mashed Redskins for a side which I love there. Upon receiving the order I still enjoyed the food very much which I always had but my girlfriend had gotten pasta which she didn't seem to excited about after a few bites but granted she was trying something different but the sauce did seem a bit watery that it was in. But I give props to the server who notice she didn't seem to be liking it and swiftly offered to get a replacement entree for her. She decided she would just box up the food and save it for later but I really appreciate the restaurant offering that and standing behind the food. Also the manger took off 50% of her entree which was very nice and I don't think needed to be done because he offered to get another entree earlier when she didn't like it. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 stars is because they weren't completely prepared an hour into the day being out of some food items and not ready to serve others. I would say I give them 4 stars to the restaurant but there servers and staff get 5 stars!

The food is the best part about this restaurant! A little bit cozy but the food is so good it doesn't matter. The only mark against the restaurant will be it's just a touch loud with the concrete floors. Definitely worth stopping in and if you do, get the ribs! You won't regret it

Everyone seems to like this place, but my experiences with it have been about as bad as it gets. I ate their with my wife when we first moved into the area. She had chicken that was way too salty and I ordered the brisket. Imagine my disappointment when I was presented with half a dozen rubbery slices of meat on top of a piece of white bread. The fries were good, though, and their beer menu is fantastic. About a year later I had their catering service and it was terrible. The ribs were hard as a rock and the meat was impossible to get off the bone. The pulled chicken and pork was so salty I could hardly eat it. The meatballs tasted like they were out of a frozen bag bought at Walmart. Your mileage may vary, I suppose... I'm definitely in the minority when I say this place isn't very good.

My family LOVES Smokin Johnny V's!!! They always beg to go there for Patti's Pulled pork sandwiches! Nice atmosphere. Great BBQ! Portion sizes are pretty good. Lots of beer options, but prices can be high for drinks. We have only had one time where the order was incorrect, but they were very friendly and corrected their mistake immediately. My only advice is to steer clear of the table by the door. If it is winter you will freeze!

The pulled pork was excellent with the Kansas City Sweet BBQ sauce! The coleslaw and garlic red skinned mashed potatoes were good side dishes too! Definitely worth the extra drive past the fast food restaurants on the way to I-75!

Great place! My boyfriend and I stopped here before going to the fair and the service, food and atmosphere was awesome! I'm vegetarian and it's a bbq place but the appetizers and mac and cheese was great. The bloody Mary's looked good if you like them, every sunday is a bloody mary bar. This is classy meets bbq, loved it!

It's always a treat to go to Johnny v's, I've yet to try something I didn't like on the menu. Great service, fair pricing, and excellent food. The burrito and ribs are fantastic! A diamond in the rough for sure.

This place is amazing. The portion size is good, price is good and the service is outstanding. I ordered the Meat Carnivore w the little spicy bbq sauce and it was perfectly done, it was hot and just a little spicy, just perfect. My friend ordered the salmon and he said it was the best salmon and liked the risotto. Micro-Beers Galore on draft. This is my favorite bbq hands down.

First and foremost, FANTASTIC service. Alexis did a fantastic job with our large group of people. Drinks were kept full, food served seemed to exit the kitchen in a quick manner and arrive promptly to our table. For appetizers we tried their special cigar egg rolls (Filled with smoked, tender beef) and Jalapeno Corn Fritters (Golden fried corn fritters with a mild kick of jalapeno. Served with strawberry compound butter.$4.89). Wow! Both were excellent! Main course for me was the Carnivore Picnic (A generous portion of pulled pork, beef brisket, and Johnny Brats served with cornbread muffins) with sides of slaw and Honey baked beans. Fantastic. Desert was a light and not too filling peanut butter pie. Another hit! Add to this all this an excellent craft beer selection and it made for a most perfect dinning experience!

Well I will admit from the get go, that I am not a BBQ fan, so my not liking this place too awful much probably was not a huge surprise. But I did have high hopes for it since most everyone else seems to love it. I ordered BBQ chicken and the mac and cheese. My chicken was very dry and I didn't eat much of it. My mac and cheese was cold and I would have sent it back but I didn't like how it tasted anyway, so I knew I wouldn't be eating it. Not a big tomato fan and to me it seemed like the BBQ had a lot of tomato to it, rather than spice. I'm more of a "smoky dry rub" BBQ fan. So if you love BBQ maybe you will love this place. I'll stay away though. Also not a fan of the location, seems to be in a weird spot, they need to be more uptown and in the middle of things in my opinion.

Good food and lots of beers to choose from. The only reason I didn't give them a fifth star is because the food is not consistent. Still worth the dive to find this place though.

Fabulous food! We stopped while on our way from Kalamazoo to Tawas and were so happy we picked this place! A few miles off of the highway, but well worth the extra time for home-made food! Good portions! Low carb options! And everyone was wonderfully friendly to our 2 year old.

Nice place. Out of the way location. Awesome beers on tap. BBQ sauces are varied and tasty. I enjoyed my brisket, Mac-n-cheese. Alex had pulled pork and baked beans. I guess I would say the style reminds me of the Famous Dave's chain (but better). My only complaint is my entree was served lukewarm. The place was super busy, maybe the kitchen was backed up a bit, although it did not take long to get our entrees. Super A+ for service. Even though I rarely drive this way, I will be back.

Maybe it was a bad day for Johnny V's - I was in from out of town and had heard good things about the new BBQ restaurant in Corunna. I am in the culinary industry and love BBQ so I thought let me go there. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful. Very nicely decorated and ready to go. The food and hospitality aspect are far below the level of the restaurant ambiance. I was completely appalled that I spent $72 - take out and the food was mediocre at best. 1- I had ordered St. Louis style ribs (2 full racks) when I got there to pick up the order they had Baby Backs ready. I asked to have them switched, which they did - but not before complaining about how much money that just cost the restaurant. Now I almost felt bad enough to eat ribs I don't care for. Except at that moment the chef appeared and asked the hostess if she would have shrimp on her salad instead of chicken, the shrimp was already cooked. Her response was no but you can put the extra shrimp on the side. If you, madame hostess don't care about food cost, then don't complain to me. 2- none of the BBQ (ribs, brisket, or brats)had a smoke ring of any sort ... as well as being dry and it looked as though the brisket had been sliced and rewarmed...the ribs were trimmed very lean. Not the meaty St. Louis we were expecting. 3- I also ordered 2 carnivore plates which are described as having heaping amounts of meat... nah maybe 4-6 ounces each of brisket and pulled pork each. That isn't heaping.... I have to also add that my sister had BBQ with us and she said it was really good when she was there before. She said the ribs were not the same, as she had before and were not good this time. If you want to have a successful restaurant the food and hospitality have to be good not just the decor. This is one restaurant I will not be back to.

I had the not-so club panini. The food was delicious, and the generous amounts of sauces on the side certainly helped. The portion was smaller than I would have expected for the price, but my appetite tends to be more ravenous than most. All in all a pleasant experience!
