This is a nice small authentic Mexican diner. We had the empanadas first. The meat inside was amazing but the outer shell was a bit over cooked and hard. I had an outstanding Chorizo burrito smothered in their homemade sauce. Then they brought out their secret sauce, homemade hot sauce that is. Both were spicy but also flavorful! I particularly liked their verde sauce but I am partial to that. My wife had a chimichanga special and while she loved the flavor of the meat, it had beans inside and she is far from a fan of beans so that was a disappointment for her. Our kids had the hot dog and were very happy with that. All in all a good experience we'd recommend.

Surprisingly good Mexican food in random location. Chips weren't great but the guac was. We all had nice mains and the kids meals were perfect. Good value for money and the food was well spices and flavorful. Thanks Yelp!!

The meal my wife and I had .... was a huge disappointment. * chips were not fresh. * the salsa is served in a teeny cup. * had to break chips in half to dip them in the salsa. * the enchiladas were mini's. * almost nothing stuffed in the rolled enchiladas. * the flavors of both our meals were below that of Taco Bell.

Stopped at this diner-style restaurant serving Mexican cuisine on a trip to Chicago. I was intrigued by the Colombian dishes on the menu & tried the El Jibarito (pollo). I would absolutely come back & eat that again. The cassava fries were also excellent. The waiter asked if we wanted hot sauce & I said yes. He brought out two sauces, the first of which was a green tomatillo salsa with good flavor and little heat. The second sauce, red with a habanero flavor and equivalent kick, he warned me was hotter. Mixed, they made a wonderful spicy dip for the fries and sauce for the "sandwich".

Had to update my review after trying the beef burrito. The chicken tacos and the beef burrito were both amazing! The server was very attentive despite being the only server during a relatively busy lunch hour and it was only $9 for quite a bit of food. I am not in this area frequently, but when I am I will be stopping here!

This is a great place with authentic Mexican and Columbian food. Very casual, very clean. I My husband and I had burritos and they were great, each served with a side of Spanish rice and frijoles. The salsa and chips brought out before the meal were also wonderful! We'll definitely be going back, nice to have an authentic Mexican restaurant nearby!

There's nothing great about this place as other reviewers have proclaimed. It was actually pretty disappointing. The ketchup bottles on the tables in a Mexican restaurant should have been my first clue to walk out of there. The place looked clean enough and the server was friendly although not impressively good at his job. He brought out store bought tortilla chips that came right out of a bag and a salsa the likes of which I've never seen anywhere. It looked like tomato soup and tasted like tomato and garlic. It had me wondering when they were going to bring out some pasta. The menu was sort of all over the place with a mix of Mexican, Columbian, and American foods such as burgers and fries. Seriously, just make up your mind and pick one. If I wanted a burger though, I wouldn't have gone to a place with this name. Some people in the booth next to us asked the server what Menudo was and I'm sure these are the same type of diners that would give this place 5 stars because they don't know what good Mexican food tastes like. We all had steak entrees ranging from burritos to fajitas and it was all made with a rather low quality steak that was bordering on tough. The beans served on the side were so watery they looked like soup. The prices were reasonable but the quality of the food definitely reflected it. 2 stars because as hard as it might be to believe, I've had worse. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. Don't listen to the other reviews about "authentic mexican food" which are just laughable.

We ordered items with steak. Highly recommend, as the meat is very tasty! Tampiqueno dish with skirt steak, the smothered burrito, and the steak quesadilla appetizer. The chips and salsa both tasted homemade--my young kids enjoyed them even though the salsa had a slight kick which usually doesn't fly with them. Wish we didn't love out of state as I want to return again top try more.

This place is a gem! The chef is Columbian and the food is authentic and delicious. If you're hungry and driving by Coloma on I-94, definitely check it out. It's only five minutes off the highway.

Fantastic Columbian food (which is similar to Mexican except everything is cooked over an open fire). A very congenial host who will answer all of your questions. We love the freshness and the authenticity of the food. A great family place in downtown Coloma MI.

I'm writing the very first Yelp review for this place - which could set the tone for future reviews so I'm going to keep it positive in the hopes that the business will thrive. Downtown Coloma is a bit depressed so anytime a new business wants to take a risk - I'm inclined to give them some enthusiastic support. This was my first visit here, my husbands 2nd (he wasn't very impressed the first time but he ordered fish!). I convinced him to give it another try and suggested he order something a bit more traditional. We went for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and it was late in the day (around 2pm) which could explain why we were the only people in the place. The chips and salsa on the table were fresh and good. Our server was pleasant and efficient with our order. I had chicken tacos with a side of rice/beans and my hubby had carne asada. Our food was served quickly and was hot and looked appetizing (see the picture). I have to say, the rice and beans were excellent, as were the tacos and carne asada. The only drawback in my opinion is that the meat was seasoned with something that made it look a pale, greenish gray - maybe cumin?? The meat tasted fine it just didn't look very appetizing. I would absolutely try this place again (and probably would order the same thing). We usually go to a Mexican restaurant in Benton Harbor so it's nice to have one in the neighborhood.

Good Food!!!! Friendly service!! We were here for lunch--they have s fairly extensive menu with lots of veggie options, which I appreciate. The chips & salsa were delicious--my favorite type of salsa...not too chunky, not too spicy, but full of flavor. They are open at 8am for breakfast and I look forward to trying it! Not the prettiest interior space--ambience needs some improvement. But overall a tasty meal for a reasonable cost.

We decided to try this restaurant for the first time tonight. The service was wonderful, super nice waitress, the atmosphere is pleasant, everything was clean. Unfortunately, the food was just ok. The guacamole had a ton of onions in it so it was overpowering. It also has cilantro and tomato in it, all ingredients were fresh. I got veggie plate N which had a cheese enchilada, bean tostada, rice, and beans. The rice was perfect, great taste and texture. Tostada was yummy, enchilada was alright, a bit dried out. My husband had a chicken fajita burrito, he said it could have used more cheese and sour cream. We will probably be going again. It's nice to see new places pop up in Coloma.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
