Didn't have the highest of expectations but we purchased 9 pizzas for a big crew and everyone thought it was great! We are from Chicago so we know pizza! The toppings are actually really generous and it was still hot when delivered. I would say they could make the thin crust a bit thinner and bump up the quality of the cheese.

    Decent pizza.

DiMaggio's: just a little hole-in-the-wall place with zero atmosphere off in the middle of nowhere (the Coloma, MI outskirts). But it has my vote for Best Pizza Ever. The thick crust pizza has a crust that's a work of art - it would be a delicious meal even if you stripped away the pizza! But combining a delicious fresh pizza with this crust is a memorable combination. It's worth coming back here on vacation just to visit DiMaggio's!

Under cooked doughy bland pizza and a rude server who seemed annoyed we stopped in to try their pizza as a possible midnight snack for our wedding. No thanks...they just lost a pretty big chunk of change.

Di Maggio's is a favorite of mine. Have visited here off and on for five years now and always look forward to great food and service.

This place always has a special place in my heart; Di Maggio's pizza is something I grew up on. It's always fun to order from there. One of my favorite memories of this place is after a two-a-day football practice years ago, two of my buddies and I went there for dinner and ordered three large pizzas and a large order of bread sticks and demolished all of it in under 10 minutes as we watched Die Hard 2 on tv. It is a great place to get pizza. However, one of the biggest problems this place has is inconsistent quality of the pizza. It's like eating food that is bipolar. When the pizza is good it is absolutely fantastic, but when it is bad it is terrible. I've had pizzas where the crust is still soft and doughy. Other times I've had pizzas that have been almost completely black. I almost gave Di Maggio's Pizza three stars. Luckily, though, the pizza the past two years has been consistently good and has kept me and my friends quite happy. Order a large sausage, mushroom, onion, and garlic pizza with extra cheese. You will have a great night, my friend.

Kinda odd here but forget the pizza. Order a classic burger with lettuce, tomato, onions, cheese...and stand back to be amazed.

Avoid a certain waitress with...... an attitude problem. The price for pizza, here is no bargain. In fact, its over priced. Quality is all over the range........ from poor to excellent.

Located in a rather remote area this place is always popping! A delicious mom & pop pizza shop that has many great toppings and perfect for a lake night that doesn't require a grill! The family got a plethora of pizzas. My favorite was the ham with pineapple! I was rather disappointed with the cheesy garlic bread. But the pizza was so good I pretty much forgot about it at the time.

My family has been coming here for 15 years and they love the pizza. It is really good - probably the best in the area. I am now staying in the area for a bit and have a lake house around the corner and have now been here 3x in the last couple days. Im absolutely hooked on their grilled cheese - which is only $1.85. I order it with grilled onions and a side of their pizza sauce and they even give you pickle slices. It's total comfort food that reminds me of going to diners of my childhood. Everyone - from the staff to the customers - are friendly and it's a great place to grab a great pizza and beer and watch a game.

Delish pizza! Hands down the best pizza in the area. My hubs has been coming here his entire life. Same people and same great quality pizza for 3 decades. Have a family cottage in Coloma and we make it a ritual to have their thin crust pizza on every trip! Our friends who come w/ us always talk about it & look forward to it!! CASH ONLY! FREE Parking lot. Carry out is a great option :)

Haven't been for a while but used to make the drive from Niles because their Mozzarella Cheese was so good.Would take my kids there and they loved it. Have to make the trip there again soon.

Great food, great service, they only take cash; what is that all about???? The pizza is good as are the margaritas. 4 stars but the cash only policy bugs me, raise prices 3% to cover credit cards.

It's businesses like these that make my 5 star reviews valid. I had thin crust pizza and I tried my wife's salad and my daughter's spaghetti. I also had an iced tea. I'm fairly certain the iced tea was instant. I don't consider myself a tea snob but I had to put sweetener in it just to drink it. I'm fairly certain the spaghetti sauce and pizza sauce were the same. I grew up eating Monica's or old orchard thin crust from champaign county, so I am a little spoiled with good pizza but I like the sauce on a tombstone better than this place. Supposedly, the mozzarella was really good. I'm not sure what was good about it. It must be really expensive to boat over cheese from Wisconsin because it's obvious they didn't do it. Now for the reason I give them 3 stars, the salad was really good. It's a simple salad but it was fresh lettuce, carrots and onions. Also, living in Chicago, I don't think the price was that bad. Our waitress was really friendly.

Great pizza and excellent service. We came here on a road trip to Indianapolis. I have driven by several times on the way to St. Joseph, but I never stopped in. The interior is pleasantly dated, but clean. There is a bar to sit at, but we chose a booth in the bar area. The server was prompt and kept our glasses full. We had soda, but I could see the bartender making margaritas in a small blender at the bar. We'll have to try one next time. I ordered the anchovi plate to start. It looked and tasted great. When the pizza arrived it was well made with plenty of toppings. They offer paper plates, which is perfect for the atmosphere.

The pizza is fabulous. We ignored the Fox News that the locals drinking at the bar enjoyed, but couldn't ignore the pictures of animals gunned down (by the owner?). The most upsetting is a zebra with the hunter posed with it. Who hunts zebra?

This place was awesome. Came all the way from Detroit to take care of some business and stopped here on the way home. Great pizza. Great beer. Would visit again if I happen to be around this way again.

Does anyone else see a pattern when it comes to a grumpy mean nasty waitress. I've seen her described in at least 5-6 other reviews for this pizza place and they are spot on! Rude and nasty; she must be part owner or something, because I would fire her butt if I owned the place. Food good 4, server 1 to a 0. Never seen the like. Her name started with a D, she is a rather big women also. Look out for this one, or better yet, get take out. Wow what a B!!!! Let me make myself clear as I can, this pizza place would get 4-5 stars if it wasn't for the waitress. Yummy pizza!

I really wanted to love this pizza but it just didn't live up to expectations. Crust was too crispy (as in hard as a rock) and tasteless. We had sausage and mushroom on ours and it was weak. Honestly, I'd rather have a store bought frozen one. It was over priced and I won't be returning.

We are staying at a cottage near by and the owner recommended this place. When we pulled up we realized that we had been here last year during a weekend away just me and my husband. Pizza is very good. Spaghetti and meatballs were very good and a half portion is plenty. My husband had the ham sandwich which was good, but he was disappointed it didn't come with fries or any side. Luckily he ate some of my spaghetti and the kids pizza. We got the grumpy server :) they have an atm for those that don't carry cash.

The service has been much better the past few times I have been here. And the food has been consistent over what it was in the past. I would now recommend this place if you are in the area.

Food is fine -pizza and pasta good and reliable. The waitress staff 'LARGE Local Lady D....." Is irritable and rude and she should leave this establishment. They really would have more sit down patrons and less takeout ones. No need to pay to tip her to be insulted and have slow fat service when you can take the food home and enjoy it there.

Went there Friday night the food (pizza and salad) were excellent and so was the service (always a smile)! It was picking up and we still got our food in good time! Highly recommend and you get tons of cheese on that pizza!

This place is older than dirt and has barely changed since it was open. It's complete lack of character somehow give it character. I've been coming here for over 25 years and I'll keep coming back, always hoping that it hasn't changed. The Pizza here is awesome - There's just something about it that you can't quite find anywhere else. It is just about as close to pizza perfection as I've ever found. If you ever find yourself in this middle of nowhere area between St. Joseph and South Haven, drop in! Cash & Check only - but they do have an ATM.

We came at 2:30 pm had a late lunch, lasagna and a Italian sub that we split. Both good, great Italian bread, great service, clean, comfortable restaurant bar.

Great pizza!! Good crust, nice amount of cheese and ample veggies or meat. This is one of our favorite places in the area for carryout but have eaten in the dining room a few times. The service is hit or miss - on very busy nights during the season (all summer) you might catch someone in a bad mood.

  • Heather S.

Great pizza every time! We always ask for "extra sauce" as the sauce they use is amazing. Fairly small dining room, and the place is wildly popular with locals and tourists, so it can be tough getting a table on weekends. Service is pretty good if the staff pegs you as a local.

Really good pizza (the crust), unbelievably reasonable drink prices. Stopped with the kids because my husband loved this pizza growing up...he said the place hasn't changed and I'm sure he's right...its old school at it's casual best! Large pizza with sausage, three soft drinks and a top shelf martini and the bill was 26 and some change...nice! Staff did seem to give the "out-of -towner cold shoulder" which is less than appreciated because not everyone from Illinois comes with entitlement issues.

My family has been coming here for over 20 years. As usual the restaurant was severely over crowded. Good thing we placed our pizza order ahead of time over the phone. Once we found a place to sit the waitress took 20 minutes to acknowledge us running back and forth by our table. While waiting without any drinks I finally had a drink of my water bottle(to take pills) and immediately got reprimanded by the waitress who finally showed up and said I had brought in contraband and she could confiscate it. When I replied well I was thirsty she said well I am busy. Really??? Once the pizza came it was not hot at all. More like luke warm. Yuck! We ate quickly and left. As I watched the waitress she was rude to almost every customer in there with a nasty look on her face. I realize she was overwhelmed but really that's how you treat your customers? It's not our fault you are understaffed. Overall it was a horrible evening and it was my birthday on top of it. Never again will I go to this restaurant and as I mentioned before my family has been coming here for over 20 years and it used to be one of my favorites! Disgusted!

We went there on a rainy afternoon and during our stay the restaurant totally filled up and there was just one waitress to handle the whole place. She did a great job of keeping everyone happy and fed. Our pizza arrived quickly and was absolutey delicious. Crispy thin crust, lots of cheese and toppings - we had no complaints whatsoever. We'll definitely be back again. Caution- cash or checks-no credit cards.

I always take out a pizza and salad. The size small pizza weighs about 10 pounds because it is LOADED with fresh ingredients. I've also tried the meatballs and sausage. Always good. Family owned, laid back, cash only, and always busy. Stuck up, spoiled, Chicago Suburbanites should stay away.

So good. Just really good, honest, simple pizza.

Always a special treat. Tonight a large pizza and cheese ravioli with meatballs. All wonderful as usual, plus it's nice to have a good, strong drink while waiting for carryout (even if our order is ready!).

Di Maggio's has been a family tradition for me since I was a kid. Anytime we went to Chicago, Di Maggio's was an expected detour. Even today, if the mood strikes me right, I'll gather some friends and make the trek down to Coloma for the best pizza in the state of Michigan. Nobody does it like Di Maggio's. Even the way they cut their pizza is unique. Gotta get the garlic bread, and Meatballs on your pizza are a must.

have eaten here a dozen times , but last weekend we made a special trip for a pizza and for some reason it was not the same. the sauce was not sweet like before and the sasauge just did not have that flavor. the Cheese did not taste fresh as well . seems like thier cutting back on their ingrediants .bring cash or your check book they do not take credit cards. Also they do not have but two beers on tap. Bud, Bud lite. Not sure what happened but they were my favorite pizza now they have fallen off my top 5 list.

I've been coming to this little roadside joint for years and, as a Chicago resident, I find it to be the best pizza on the planet, hands down. The sauce has some secret to it that makes you crave it more than what is normal.

I've eaten here on numerous occasions on my visits to the cottage (not my cottage). Excellent thin crust pizza! Burgers are good too...try this: Share the burgers as an appetizer (split in quarters) and get the pizza as the meal! They don't have bartenders (the servers make the drinks), so it could be a tad slow if you're dining in. Atmosphere is very dive. Just old tables, chairs, and a jukebox.

  • Nick L.

This little sandy dive sold me the best sub sandwich I've ever had. What a great low key atmosphere. It's one of those cold beer and great food places in Michigan that is clean, comfortable and friendly. If you are traveling north of St. Joe/Benton Harbor, it's worth the stop.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
