Well I've been a patron of Julian Bros for a solid 6 years now and it's just as good as ever. If you want to have a fat kid day and go on a sugar binge, this place will satisfy your needs. Huge variety of donuts, desserts and pretty much anything you could want. Their cherry fritters? On point. And huge. But that didn't stop me from washing it down with 2 cookies.... What can I say? I have a mad love affair with sugar sometimes....

In my hunt for more and more and more carbs - because beer and pizza isn't enough, I come here. Walking through the door gives off a Frankenmuth feel. A bit of home and 70's/80's all rolled up in one. One step in and it becomes almost psychedelic as your eyes are bouncing all over the place - fresh made breads of all types, cut to order, are in shelves behind the counter. Homemade King Dongs, Bumpy cake, cheesecake, cookies, bear claws, and many many other great deserts are on display and a big menu of sandwiches, pizzas, and misc. Walking in deeper and turning right will take you to the sandwich, pizza, side salads and other foods (Meatloaf) are now on display. It's hard not to walk out with a little of everything and I often do. The homemade King Dongs, thin slices 7 grain bread, and meatloaf are a bad vice that I have to have when I come here. The staff are very friendly and I just haven't had anything I wouldn't buy again from this place.

This is an excellent bakery which also has hot and cold lunch selections I really miss the pizza bread living in indianapolis . Now my friends have me deliver loafs when I am up in Detroit metro area for work Just brought 8 loafs home this week. Cookies, donuts, bread, salad and sandwiches. Cakes too. Stop here for something good and you will be back. Been going here for at least 15 years

I LOVE this place. It's an old school bakery that also has pizza, subs and a small grocery section. The bakery is awesome. I often order cakes for holiday celebrations, and I can't recommend their bumpy cake or lemon layer cake highly enough. Both are rich and decadent, and the 10" cake can easily feed a small army. But don't stop at the cakes, dear readers. There is an entire case of pastries to be sampled. My personal favorites are the lemon flips and the ding dongs, but after EXTENSIVE research into the matter I can attest to the fact that it's all good. And the breads..... ah, the breads..... Italian, sourdough, rye, wheat, cinnamon. About a dozen other varieties. Some come in a couple of sizes. Some come with seeds, or without. Want it sliced? No prob. Dinner rolls galore. Pepperoni rolls. You get the picture. They also sell pizza by the slice, or you can order a whole pie. I've had the pizza a few times, and it's consistently good. I haven't tried the subs, but they look good and are certainly on my list. One of my very favorite things that they sell is homemade pasta in the freezer case. Along with some homemade pesto and a generous amount of parmigiano Reggiano, it is TOTALLY worth the carb coma!!

Pretty much lived at this place as a kid. Slice of pizza an a cold Pepsi was all we needed. Stopped in and grabbed the same thing some 20 years later. Pizza still tastes awesome!! Great to see there still making pizza roles as well!!!

This is a hidden gem! I often stop there to get a turkey sandwich for lunch. I add a bag of Cheetos and a donut for a so so healthy lunch lol. They have a great shortbread cookies, & a lot of things to take back to the office to warm up. I would highly recommend this place. Prices are not too bad but they are not on the cheap side either.

Ive stopped her for a hot lunch many times , when I worked in TROY, but today I was on a mission to try there 7 grain bread that has 28 grams of protein per slice. Oh My Goodness ! Who knew that Healthy could taste so good! Plus being an old school bakery they had 2 slicing options regular & thin The Bread is loaded with flavor & grains.

I don't know who the Julian brothers are, but they sure know how to make delicious baked goods. I am trying to stay away from simple carbs but it is sooooooooooo tough to do when I know my husband wants to go here and it's a short drive away, so I just indulge in a few treats and try to forget about it by the next day. Basically anything in the pastry case is wonderful. They have these little miniature bumpy cakes called ding dongs, and they are way better than actual Sanders Bumpy Cake. My uncles actually prefer the caramel cake here to the authentic Sanders version as their birthday cake of choice. Their almond tea ring coffee cake things are a favorite of my dad's. Their cookies are delicious and so cute with sprinkles and they even have those neon-colored Italian layer cookies that are too much for me but my entirely-New Jersey, practically-Italian husband swears by them. Then there's the bread. Oh Em Gee, the bread. Buttermilk Rye. Sicilian, with seeds or without. Wheat. Cinnamon Raisin. At least 20 other varieties, not to mention dinner rolls or a 5-year-old Cathy O. favorite, pepperoni rolls. Good luck to you figuring out which variety to pick. They have inexpensive, decently tasty pizza and subs. Now, if I had to be picky, I would complain about the subs that are pre-made that morning, but I haven't asked them to make a fresh one for me ever and the ladies behind the counter are so nice I bet they would do it. The frozen food selection is quite large with both italian staples and more typical frozen dinners. This place is a winner in my book. But you really should stay away from the aforementioned ding dongs because you'll wake up at 7am craving one, like I did six minutes ago. Oopsies!

Amazing all around. I love their italian desserts. Right on point. I love the smell of the bread when I enter. My papa has been coming here for years and this place gave my family wonderful Italiano memories, with their food. I will pass down to my children the same traditions and plan on having Julian Brothers be apart of them.

Incredible hidden secret. Get ingredients to go to make homemade pizza. Incredible deal for great ingredients. Everything else there is awesome. Must visit. Very friendly staff.

This is the best pure Italian bakery in the burbs. A pepperoni roll always hits the spot and their homemade baked subs give the best crunch for your buck. If you are ever cruising through the city of Clawson and it's not a Monday, this is the place to go. Dick Julian and his staff are the friendliest and the best. Clawson does not have many landmarks, but this is certainly one of them.

My folks went here for years. Now we live nearby and I am another regular customer. The bread is the best, with wonderful selelction. Hubby likes the German white for sandwiches, son likes the multi grain, and the rye is my favorite. Fresh bread comes out of the oven all day long. It is hard to resist the baked goods, but when I break down I like the Snow Ball cupcakes that are nothing like the ones I got in my school lunch when a girl. The pasta selection alone is amazing. The salads and subs are really good, and the pizza very nice although the sauce is blander than we like. The owner and staff are really super nice making the whole experience a pleasure.

I have been curious about Julian Brothers for awhile. There isn't much going on in the strip where it's located & I wasn't sure if it was open. Naturally, I turned to Yelp to find out what this place is all about. I finally stopped in last week to grab a sub. I ordered the club from the case, plus a pepperoni roll. I toasted the sub when I got home. The sesame sub roll was full of flavor. I loved it! The roll totally made the it great. The pepperoni roll was just ok. I always have such high hopes wherever I order them, and I haven't been impressed yet. We decided to try their pizza this weekend. I really like that you can order a small square pizza that is only 4 slices. This allows me to order a specialty pizza that my husband won't eat without a lot of leftovers. I ordered a small square BLT pizza & a medium square pizza with pepperoni & ham. I really wanted to try their cheese bread but they were sold out. That is probably my only disappointment. They don't make it by order. I settled for the seasoned garlic bread, which was just OK. It was baked earlier in the day, so it wasn't your typical garlic bread from a pizza place. I LOVED my BLT pizza. It was cooked perfectly, great crust and plenty of bacon. You have a choice of getting mayo or Miracle Whip. I'm not sure if that's standard since I never get to order this type of pizza! I tried a piece of the other pizza & it was very good! I don't shop at too many different grocery stores, but they all tend to carry limited variations of pasta. I think JB has a great pasta selection. They also sell Guernsey products, including a great variety of their ice cream flavors (most important). The staff was very friendly & helpful during both stops. I'm so glad I finally stopped in. We'll definitely be back for more.

Bumpy cake is fabulous as is their pizza. Very good prices and nice staff. Definitely my favorite bakery.

This little gem brightened my day, and was a great alternative to the standard "fast food' joints in the area. We grabbed an italian sub on our way out of town and it was only $3.99 - great deal. We will be back to do some shopping for italian groceries in the near future.

I don't go to Julian brothers very often because I will eat half a loaf in one day. With nothing on it. It is so soft and fresh. White seeded Italian is my favorite. I don't get anything else so I can't speak for it. The place is always hoppin' though.

Awesome. Amazing. Wonderful. Delicious. I can't share enough positive adjectives to describe this bakery. I had my wedding cake made there. My dad suggested looking there because he remembered how great it was. The initial price was HALF of what other bakeries were quoting for wedding cakes. I was so excited when I saw my cake for the first time. It was better than I could have ever hoped for. I highly recommend yellow cake with cannoli filling! We didn't take any cake home because our guests ate their first slice & requested more. So moral of the story: amazing cake at an amazing price!

Just took the kids and a friend of my daughters to get a family tray after they exhausted themselves after BounceU up the street. Now, I had ordered the 16 pc square thinking it could feed the mob PLUS have some left over for the wife when she got home. Needless to say the "better half" had left over mac & cheese and a bowl of cereal for dinner because we CASHED that thing. The bottom of it wasn't crisp but soft (which I normally really hate) but it was REALLY good! This huge tray lasted maybe 7 minutes, we kicked that pie's ass like we just got out of prison. I had to write a follow up to my initial visit because the slices on display looked A LOT better than last time....I mean they looked REALLY good. Place was packed and as always the staff was super nice, friendly and helpful.....even all the different people bumping into me while we were waiting were really nice. Going back soon.

LOVE this place!! Everything is so good & freshly made. My favorite thing to get is the pepperoni bread, which I had never had till I went here. It is amazing. Also, the owner is super friendly & nice! Best bakery.

Whoever said there's no such thing as a free lunch was lying. Our company bought us lunch and I didn't have a dollar in my pocket. To me, that IS a free lunch! I come and go with subs. This was no Lenny's by a long mile, but it was decent sub; Italian or turkey with lettuce and tomato, mustard potato salad, and pasta salad. It reminded me of a giant picnic. So, I guess it would be great picnic food. It didn't blow any gaskets in my vicinity, but it was solid. Decent. Oh, and they delivered it. Bread is good, pasta salad is meh, potato salad had egg in it, love that. /Decent!

Pro: They use fresh mushrooms on the pizza, not canned. Con: I would have liked a little more. Pro: The crust is near perfect, not soggy. Crispy and tender. Con: The sauce is pretty tasteless. Overall, I'm a fan. They're one of the few pizza places close by that actually serves Coke, add the fresh baked goods and I'll take the cons!

This is my go-to place for packzi every year. It's also where I go or recommend when looking for a party sub. You can order a big sub or purchase individual subs. They have so many other bakery items that I admire from afar but have never purchased. Their fresh bread selection looks great. They have a lot of sweet treats too.

We lived behind this bakery 30 yrs ago! It was our family's favorite pizza and bakery! We have been all over the country since then and all pizza is measured by their standards in our huge family. When we returned to Michigan for a visit this was the only food we hoped still was around. Much to our delight they were still in business! Memory didn't fail us! It is still our favorite! Crispy pepperoni, and the best pizza crust in America!

When I have dinner guests, I always get the cannoli. I'm Italian. Believe me when I say I know my cannoli! They are always fresh and fabulous! You can get the mini ones or the regular sized. I have never had a guest leave a bite of cannoli on their plate! I also love their bread. They slice it up for you and it's so good you may as well bring some butter and a knife to eat a slice on the way home. I also highly recommend the garlic/cheese breadsticks and their pizza ! Like Rachael Ray says, "Yummo!" This Italian is a happy Julian Brothers customer!

Julian Bros has been our regular bakery for a few years now. It would have been for a lot more years if my husband had decided to stop int here earlier! 90% of what we buy there is bread (yes, it's a bakery!), and we buy 90% of our bread from there! The bread is fresh, and if you select he right kind, it's super crispy crusted. For something a little different, go for the 7-grain Yep, it might be difficult to get excited about bread, but this bread is great. They have pretty decent garlic bread in the freezer, but if you feel like going entirely wild, but a half (long) Sicilian, and make your own. Their bread is TOTALLY suited to home made garlic bread. We tried the pizza too - only the take-n-bake. Bargain priced for great stuff. Pizzas are huge and the crust is different to anything you will find anywhere else. And they sell all sorts of imported canned, and jarred foods, mainly European. We've not tried them as we have other sources. The staff: Efficient and friendly. Nice people. Gave a small cookie to my daughter on many occasions, even when she did not ask... unless staring at the cookies longingly and looking cute does not count as asking? And the smell. I swear they are using some kinda pixies dust in the air that makes you hungry. Every time. Wait. That must be the smell of freshly baking bread! One of not-so-many existing small food businesses. Long Live Julians!

I love Julian Brothers!! Their baked goods are wonderful! I always look forward to picking out a brownie or two...or three or four! There have been many, many occasions where I'd run in and grab a loaf of pepperoni bread and a pop and that'd be my lunch or a quick dinner. That bread is seriously awesome. I just had them make my daughter's 1st birthday cake - a chocolate sheet cake. They were able to design it from the invitation card I gave them with the party theme on it turned out beautiful and we didn't want to cut into it. The cake was super moist and delicious, and everyone at the party raved about the cake and wanted to know where we got it from. Our friends got their son's cake from there a month later for his party they liked it so much!

Mmm, good pizza! I had a craving/ hangover that would just not cure itself, and Julian Brothers seemed like a good place to try. I got the round small cheese pizza, which is like a personal pan, for $3.75!! Cheap as hell and mm mmm good. No complaints! They don't deliver like the description says, fyi! But they're fast and cheap, so give 'em a try!

Why I love this place... Pizza slices. Cheap, Fast, Variety. Frozen Pizza. Classic french bread style light crust. Yummmy. Subs. Medium is great size for a meal. If you want one custom made...no onions etc. It is not a problem. I always order without cheese...if I ask they give me a few extra pieces of meat instead. Take that waysub! Pay 25 cents for some of the house dressing, super good stuff. Pie. Dutch apple is awesome. This place is more than bread. It is a great place for a quick lunch or last minute meal...at home or on the fly. If you have never stopped in you are missing out.

  • Molly L.

The pizza is so so so so so so good. And you can get it by the slice! The best part is that the pepperonis are so crisp that the edges turn up and the grease forms a little pool in the middle. I'd give the bread 3 stars and the pizza 5, so 4 stars it is.

the only item i tried that was really good was the lemon meringue pie. always have hope for another good bakery find, but this isn't the place. italian bread is tasteless and just plain white bread. no developed flavor from a slow rise, no chewy interior. thought it might make good french toast - no; even using eggland eggs, rum, nutmeg and butter to fry it in, it as still just tasteless. cake donuts also bland with no distinct flavor - sour cream was just plain white, choc/choc iced also no real chocolate flavor. cannolis were freshly filled and the shell was crisp but the filling was practically corn starch thickened skim milk. sorry, again no flavor. thus i have given up on this bakery. this is not a restaurant but a bakery with hot food and deli case. don't know why Yelp is treating it as a restaurant???

One of things that we are fortunate to notice sometimes is where working men are headed to grab a lunch to go. It always turns out to have good sandwiches and good pizza. We happened to notice a heap of them heading into Julian Bros Bakery one day. The bakery looks kind of industrial almost with trucks out front and occupying a strip mall with no curb appeal but go in anyway. It's frozen meals, sandwiches and bake goods...really GOOD bake goods. I can't decide if this is an Italian bakery or a Polish bakery or maybe it's both? They offer pasta, Chrusciki (angel wings), and Paczki (filled donuts) among other more traditional offering like breads, cookies and cakes. I'm a big fan of chrusciki and there's a lot of not so good chursciki out there but at Julian Bros the angel wings are so light and so flavorful! They are really great. What ever your favorite bakery item is, you'll be happy you found this place because it's going to be amazing.

I first became familiar with Julian Brothers bakery years ago when a friend of mine brought some bread from this local gem to a dinner party. I have been a fan ever since, spreading the word to friends and family members, and now to you dear Yelpers! Julian Brothers Italian bakery is located on South Rochester Road in Clawson and if I hadn't have gotten word from my friend about this place, I probably would have never know about it. Situated in a small, unpretentious building, Julian Brothers offers great bake goods like cakes, breads, and pastries like eclairs for a fare price. In addition, they offer a wide range of catering options from subs to veggie trays to chicken wings for all occasions. What I love about Julian Brother's is the welcoming down home feel of this place. You always know the service will be great and your purchases even better!

Best Italian bread around. No doubt. They make a pretty good sub and great peperoni rolls for lunch time. Also, I like any lunch place where I can get lunch, a loaf of bread for dinner and a treat to eat. If I had any suggestions, it would be to slice the meat on the italian subs a little thinner. I don't need more meat, just turn two slices into three thin ones. I will give Julian Brothers props for using red onion on the subs. Other places try to use white, but that aint right! Oh yeah, the lady with the very-blue eyes is super nice. Excellent customer service.

This place makes me feel like a kid in a candy store. So much good food to look at, beautiful baked goods, fresh pizzas & subs, desserts & more. It was PACKED when I went on a saturday morning, but the wait was worth it. I got the tuna sub and it was delicious!

When I was a young lad, once a month we would have pizza delivered to our school from Julian Brothers. As a youngster I remember it tasting so delicious, so perfect in it's cheesiness. Many moons passed since those days and when I finally made it back to Julian Bros Bakery I knew what I had to to. Buy one of these pizza's for nostalgia's sake. It costs less than a frozen pizza from the grocery store and tasted oh so much better. The thick crust doesn't overwhelm the rest of the cheesy goodness and actually works quite nicely with it. They have ready made pizza by the slice, you can order, or you can take and bake which is what I did. I go for the pizza, but the bakery items are just as outstanding. For example, the blueberry pie is so delicious I challenge anyone who tries it to find one better. I don't think it's going to happen. JB's is small, and usually a mad house, so get in and look around, order and get out. I hope you like it as much as I do.

Everyone always loved the pizza here, but I was never a fan. The bread, however -- now that I could get on board with! Plus you get to watch while they slice it, which is totally cool when you're 10. Good cookies, too.
