Had a latte in a hotel china cup - has weight and a texture that doesn't detract from the brew unlike paper or, heaven forbid, styrofoam. Ordered the quiche, (onion,cheese and mushroom). Could taste onions! Enjoyed it and really liked the fresh fruit garnish. Fresh, fruit, bits! And I liked sitting there and gazing over downtown Chelsea and the pedestrians while I ate and sipped. Music comfortable in style and sound level.

When you look at Zouzous you feel "oh great, a local coffee shop that j would like to support". But the execution is terrible. No where do they pay any emphasis on responsibly sourced fair trade coffee but that's not even the concern here. The coffee is OK here for a place that somehow gives the impression that coffee would be their forte. Secondly the place is always always too bloody warm and muggy. It is disgusting!! As if they almost are doing that on purpose to discourage people from sitting there too long. And last but not the least the owner seems to be a cranky and borderline rude human being who just does not feel happy conversing or serving anyone. At least that is the impression we got visiting ZZ's more than a couple of times. The younger servers seem better and more poised and happy about serving folks but definitely not the owner. It is unfortunate we felt that way. So yeah a while back we decided to never go here again. As much as we are crazy about supporting the local business, ZZ is not that business. If they change their air conditioning/ ambiance and if they start acting a bit more friendly in their service I would love going back there in a heartbeat.

Ok, Zou zou' sis pretty solid for a non-chain place. Great coffee, great bakery items. Cute place, homey, etc. This is a great place to stop in, get coffee and socialize. But here is why I can't give it 5 stars: 1. INTERNET SPEED IS DEPLORABLE Every time income here, I do a speed test and get about 1mb/s. And it wildly varies. So forget about coming here to do work, I can barely finish an amazon.com order without losing the site. It should not be faster to use Sprint mobile broadband than the Wifi. 2. It's VERY HOT. Like 78 degrees. Besides being very wasteful of climate changing fossil fuels, it's also uncomfortable. People dress warm in the winter and when they come inside, they can't just take off clothes get comfortable. Perhaps there hoping for cute fireman to stop in or something, but for the rest of us, it's to damn hot. Tip: this is NOT a good work/study place. Noisy, hot, wifi sucks, most tables in middle if floor so no outlets.

The decor is perfect for a small town coffee shop, and the music selection is personalized and far better than at Starbucks. If you go, you can order breakfast at any time of the day (which instantly wins over a brekkie lover like me). Get the Huevos Ole: a wrap with egg, avocado, salsa, and cheese. Get it with ham for an extra protein boost. The staff are very friendly, though they can be slow at times with food orders. It can sometimes take 25-30 minutes to get your sandwich so budget your lunch hour accordingly.

Zou Zou's is delicious! I work down the street, so this is usually where we go for our office coffee run. I usually get an iced vietnamese or an irish cream steamer. My one gripe is that the drinks are really inconsistent, depending on who's making them for you-- the younger/newer baristas have gotten drinks either not sweet enough, too sweet, or just ~wrong lately, and our order isn't really that complicated. (3 iced vietnameses -- 2 single 1 triple, and a small extra-wet cappuccino, for the curious..) That being said, it's super cute, local, and serves good coffee & delicious sandwiches. Try the bagels, they're amazing.

I own a Dollar store literally 3 min away from this place and am so tired of trying to figure out what I am going to have for lunch considering all chelsea has to offer is fast food. So the lovely owner who is a customer of mine reminded me that she owns Zou Zous and I felt sooooo well...... stupid! I was like "oh yeah they do have good food!" I had the Manhatten Kingpin and I gobbled it up in a matter of seconds. I don't know if it was the pesto or fresh Mozarrella but it was simple,light and delicious! I also had their tomato tortellini which was yum! And the service rocked. They have a cute cozy atmosphere. And in all honesty, id rather have this and drive downtown then induldge on a 800 calorie intake at mickey d's or have pizza. Ew! They als hav quiches that I'm dying to try! Check it out you def won't be disappointed.......and afterwards can experience the cute and adorable Downtown Chelsea.....and maybe pay me a visit in my store lol (dollar arena plus) *** ask for extra sauce or pesto on the side....if you add it straight to your sandwich....you're in for a disaster.....it gets really soggy and ask for the fresh Mozarrella to be drained longer*** Just left from there. 8.20.2011

This cafe has a cozy feel with wood floors, distressed brick and black and white detroit-area photography upon its walls . It is a comfortable place to stop for a quick lunch. There are quite a few sandwich selections, homemade soups and salads. Everything I have ordered here has been good, always very fresh. I would not say that it is the best food ever, but my mom and I always seem to gravitate here after a day of browsing in the gift shops downtown. I ordered a sandwich with provolone, sauteed mushrooms and roasted red peppers. I asked for it heated which they put into a panini press. The cheese could have been melted more and there could have been a slightly bigger portion of vegetables, but it was still good. They also sell Pewabic Pottery inside and tile art by Marcia Hovland which gives the place a kind of artsy feel but I noticed that the selection this time was REALLY slim. (Like only a few pieces left to purchase.) Not sure why. We make sure to grab a dessert from the showcase before leaving. It is a long drive home.

Went there to do some studying outside of the house. It wasn't terribly loud despite a number of people constantly shuffling in and out. I got the large chai, and that was very watered down. To get over the $5.00 limit for credit cards though I had to pickup something else. The cranberry scone was pretty good. It's clearly trying to be a bit bohemian, perhaps too hard. Based on the rest of the clientele and dearth of other options I'd assume this is the best place to socialize over coffee in Chelsea.

i liked this place. so did my partner. we had some hummus/veggie sandwiches which were yummy, and their homemade hummus has a good although different kind of flavor. coffee cake was also yummy. nice to have a place like this around. the store seemed to be run by a very young group of staff, which is fine; it's a normal part of human development to be a little disaffected at that age which isn't quite the level of service that i'm used to, but that's not really their fault...still...service could have been a teeny bit better. i liked their taste in music though lol...

I don't know if it's because it's pretty much the only coffee shop in chelsea, or I actually like the place, that I give this 4 stars. So maybe it's not the best coffee, but it's a staple spot in this little town and I love it. They often have local musicians there on Sunday mornings, and it's a nice place to meet with a friend. Their atmosphere is cute and coffee-shoppy, and it's in a great location. In the summer, there's little tables outside to sit.

Zou Zou's is delicious! I work down the street, so this is usually where we go for our office coffee run. I usually get an iced vietnamese or an irish cream steamer. My one gripe is that the drinks are really inconsistent, depending on who's making them for you-- the younger/newer baristas have gotten drinks either not sweet enough, too sweet, or just ~wrong lately, and our order isn't really that complicated. (3 iced vietnameses -- 2 single 1 triple, and a small extra-wet cappuccino, for the curious..) That being said, it's super cute, local, and serves good coffee & delicious sandwiches. Try the bagels, they're amazing.

I own a Dollar store literally 3 min away from this place and am so tired of trying to figure out what I am going to have for lunch considering all chelsea has to offer is fast food. So the lovely owner who is a customer of mine reminded me that she owns Zou Zous and I felt sooooo well...... stupid! I was like "oh yeah they do have good food!" I had the Manhatten Kingpin and I gobbled it up in a matter of seconds. I don't know if it was the pesto or fresh Mozarrella but it was simple,light and delicious! I also had their tomato tortellini which was yum! And the service rocked. They have a cute cozy atmosphere. And in all honesty, id rather have this and drive downtown then induldge on a 800 calorie intake at mickey d's or have pizza. Ew! They als hav quiches that I'm dying to try! Check it out you def won't be disappointed.......and afterwards can experience the cute and adorable Downtown Chelsea.....and maybe pay me a visit in my store lol (dollar arena plus) *** ask for extra sauce or pesto on the side....if you add it straight to your sandwich....you're in for a disaster.....it gets really soggy and ask for the fresh Mozarrella to be drained longer*** Just left from there. 8.20.2011

Zou Zou's is a godsend. I live more than 20 miles away, but I make a point of planning my long bike rides around a much-needed snack break here. The staff is courteous and the food is delicious. Take a morning to come here and enjoy a cappuccino and the morning paper. You won't regret it.

This cafe has a cozy feel with wood floors, distressed brick and black and white detroit-area photography upon its walls . It is a comfortable place to stop for a quick lunch. There are quite a few sandwich selections, homemade soups and salads. Everything I have ordered here has been good, always very fresh. I would not say that it is the best food ever, but my mom and I always seem to gravitate here after a day of browsing in the gift shops downtown. I ordered a sandwich with provolone, sauteed mushrooms and roasted red peppers. I asked for it heated which they put into a panini press. The cheese could have been melted more and there could have been a slightly bigger portion of vegetables, but it was still good. They also sell Pewabic Pottery inside and tile art by Marcia Hovland which gives the place a kind of artsy feel but I noticed that the selection this time was REALLY slim. (Like only a few pieces left to purchase.) Not sure why. We make sure to grab a dessert from the showcase before leaving. It is a long drive home.

I remember having coffee and breakfast here every morning while on a trip. Good coffee, good breakfast sandos. In a nice cute sunny coffeeshop atmosphere. And they play good music on the speakers, which always helps.

Went there to do some studying outside of the house. It wasn't terribly loud despite a number of people constantly shuffling in and out. I got the large chai, and that was very watered down. To get over the $5.00 limit for credit cards though I had to pickup something else. The cranberry scone was pretty good. It's clearly trying to be a bit bohemian, perhaps too hard. Based on the rest of the clientele and dearth of other options I'd assume this is the best place to socialize over coffee in Chelsea.

i liked this place. so did my partner. we had some hummus/veggie sandwiches which were yummy, and their homemade hummus has a good although different kind of flavor. coffee cake was also yummy. nice to have a place like this around. the store seemed to be run by a very young group of staff, which is fine; it's a normal part of human development to be a little disaffected at that age which isn't quite the level of service that i'm used to, but that's not really their fault...still...service could have been a teeny bit better. i liked their taste in music though lol...

I don't know if it's because it's pretty much the only coffee shop in chelsea, or I actually like the place, that I give this 4 stars. So maybe it's not the best coffee, but it's a staple spot in this little town and I love it. They often have local musicians there on Sunday mornings, and it's a nice place to meet with a friend. Their atmosphere is cute and coffee-shoppy, and it's in a great location. In the summer, there's little tables outside to sit.

This seems to be a popular spot for cyclists to refuel on longer rides - that's the only reason I've stopped here. The sandwiches are good and I love that they offer bottomless coffee mugs. Nothing spectacular, but nothing bad either. I'll start going back when the weather warms up next year

When you look at Zouzous you feel "oh great, a local coffee shop that j would like to support". But the execution is terrible. No where do they pay any emphasis on responsibly sourced fair trade coffee but that's not even the concern here. The coffee is OK here for a place that somehow gives the impression that coffee would be their forte. Secondly the place is always always too bloody warm and muggy. It is disgusting!! As if they almost are doing that on purpose to discourage people from sitting there too long. And last but not the least the owner seems to be a cranky and borderline rude human being who just does not feel happy conversing or serving anyone. At least that is the impression we got visiting ZZ's more than a couple of times. The younger servers seem better and more poised and happy about serving folks but definitely not the owner. It is unfortunate we felt that way. So yeah a while back we decided to never go here again. As much as we are crazy about supporting the local business, ZZ is not that business. If they change their air conditioning/ ambiance and if they start acting a bit more friendly in their service I would love going back there in a heartbeat.

Ok, Zou zou' sis pretty solid for a non-chain place. Great coffee, great bakery items. Cute place, homey, etc. This is a great place to stop in, get coffee and socialize. But here is why I can't give it 5 stars: 1. INTERNET SPEED IS DEPLORABLE Every time income here, I do a speed test and get about 1mb/s. And it wildly varies. So forget about coming here to do work, I can barely finish an amazon.com order without losing the site. It should not be faster to use Sprint mobile broadband than the Wifi. 2. It's VERY HOT. Like 78 degrees. Besides being very wasteful of climate changing fossil fuels, it's also uncomfortable. People dress warm in the winter and when they come inside, they can't just take off clothes get comfortable. Perhaps there hoping for cute fireman to stop in or something, but for the rest of us, it's to damn hot. Tip: this is NOT a good work/study place. Noisy, hot, wifi sucks, most tables in middle if floor so no outlets.

The idea and potential of Zou Zou's far outweighs the reality. The food is average and only a few of the menu items are made in house. I've had my food come out cold multiple times. I've had my bread come out with mold on it multiple times. The person who I presume to be the owner seems unorganized and made sure we knew the hassle we brought her by altering our sandwich. The atmosphere is nice and decor is pleasant. I enjoyed the shake and coffee. I appreciate the Eco-minded cups as well.

I liked the authenticity of this coffee shop. None of that sterile corporate design . I like a coffee shop worn and comfortable. Touch of France is nice, not overdone. Had a latte in a hotel china cup - has weight and a texture that doesn't detract from the brew unlike paper or, heaven forbid, styrofoam. Ordered the quiche, (onion,cheese and mushroom). Could taste onions! Enjoyed it and really liked the fresh fruit garnish. Fresh, fruit, bits! And I liked sitting there and gazing over downtown Chelsea and the pedestrians while I ate and sipped. Music comfortable in style and sound level.

Chelsea really has some gems. My friend and I stopped here after our shopping trip because our bodies were screaming for caffeine. Cute seating. Neat decorations. They had doors on the wall with pictures on them. Good coffee. Service was ok, not overly friendly but not terrible either.

Very nice location, but the place is not a great value. The munchies and desserts never appear fresh. There are flies. The place is full of bikers and week-end lunch-goers, and it's very loud. Hard uncomfortable seats. *Not a fan, mostly because of the price v. food quality and taste ratio.

The decor is perfect for a small town coffee shop, and the music selection is personalized and far better than at Starbucks.
