Awesome...for a dive bar afficienado. I've been eyeing this place for 8 years doing the 94 trip between chicago and Detroit. It looks so awful it must be majestic in a dive bar sort of way. The kind of place you look at driving by and say, I bet there is a Jukebox playing Johnny Cash or David Alan Coe, a borderline trashy blonde barkeep that has no mute button to her opinions, a few suspenders, and a belly up full of camo caps and huntin' stories. Let me tell ya', no disappointment here. Finally walked in because the wife and daughters stayed in the Windy city and it was a beer belly, shot and beer paradise. Boy named Sue on the Juke Box and the bar wench as rude and opinionated as could be. Loved it! The patrons were friendly and quick bowl of chili worth the stop. I have declared to my local Detroit crew that we will find an Uber to take us here for a long afternoon of darts and redneck stories, assisted by my old man's stories of how he went there underage between tours of Vietnam because there was no (hu-hum Wine Cask Inn) ID policy. If you got a little white trash in ya, make it a point to stop at Stivers!

Fried chicken was okay, just plain old diner food, nothing special. Dive like atmosphere with regulars drinking and watching sports.

I'm really fond of this place. Stivers is probably the best roadhouse-style bar along this stretch of I-94. The bar food is great, the drinks are stronger than hell, and the service is good. Get a jumbo burger and an order of potato skins, thank me later.

PRIME RIB! HEAVY MANHATTANS! KARAOKE! On the weekend (and I've only been once now, on a friday), the prime rib is served, and it's glorious! Cooked to order (I had a wonderful medium lover's medium), with lots of color variation, beautiful juices, tender meat, succulent marbling. Served with a baked potato and a have-at-it invitation to the petite salad bar (which included unidentifiable green cream, which i tried, and it tasted like lime Kool-Aid... native Michganders, back-channel me with an explanation). You MUST have the prime rib with a manhattan... good grief do they pour em pioneer-style, Tonka Truck-style, Zangief-style, etc etc... big and strong!). I also tried the potato skins which were great... unlike TGIF twice-baked potato thingys, these were literally just fried potato skins with nothing but salt on em... served with a ballpark-style nacho cheese dip on the side. very tasty! Lastly, they have m.f.karaoke!!! This place is a dream!!! come by taxi so you can get shit-faced and sing with a bellyful of prime rib!

We went there Friday for the Perch dinner - all U can eat. Good perch - good fries - good slaw. Ordered a couple of Lienenkugel's Summer Shandy's and all in all it was a great fish dinner. Reminds me of the fish dinners we used to have in Wisconsin when we were kids. The atmosphere is is about the same as when we were kids, which is a long time ago. My wilfe likes atmosphere - I like food - so we we do returns for the fish on Fridays. One of the best we have found anywhere.

Updating my review and adding a star for new menu items. Mexican Cheese stix - Wow. Comes with cocktail sauce but waitress said others recommend sour cream and so true. So good! I had beer battered shrimp from the special board, substituted a cup of soup for the side of slaw. Hubs had one of their famous 1/2 pound burgers. Even the french fries are really good. extra crispy coating and not little matchsticks. Stiver's has the same menu but a couple new items and it's nice to see Stiver's keeping things interesting with some choice additions. Clam strips, Sweet potato fries and more variety of soups on the daily special board. People are surprised when they find out about the great selection of pies. Warmed blueberry with real whipped cream is choice. Of course there is rice pudding but not always. Only when the owner makes it or they haven't run out. Nick makes a killer rice pudding for sure. Cherry, pecan, pumpkin, apple, french silk and lemon; but they rotate and all are not always available. Kitchen is open until 10pm on the weekdays and 11pm on the weekends.

Decent food and stiff drinks. I highly recommend the gyros! Bar is filled with locals who like to chat. Perfect spot to stop on I-94.

My second Review. Myself and Daddy Warbucks ( Chris) came here on 1/18/13 and this was Chris's first time here. He had the fish... and I had the signature Prime Rib with a side of Mac and Cheese. The Mac and Cheese was huge and good. The prime rib is awesome but has competition from Mac and Cheese. Different worlds they are, but both competed well for my taste buds. Chris thanked me for turning him on to this place. The drinks are spirited..like a mofo. Food was great and plentiful. Wait staff... down to earth. Cooks...skilled. I am comfortable going in here in my Armani Blazer...or my Harley Jeans and Jacket, with the HD stuff being more appropriate for the venue. Good people here. This... old looking roadhouse ... delivers surprises...Stivers.

Nothing pretentious here, good people, good food, good prices. Full menu and good drinks. A pleasant oasis between the overpriced eateries of Chelsea and Ann Arbor. And yes you A2 yuppie scum, people sometimes smoke outside (hey, its a bar too). We try to eat here every week or two and have never had a bad experience or a bad meal......Lar and Cecilia, Whitmore Lake Mi.

Dil F. does not lie! I stalk his reviews and he never disappoints me. Finally got over here on a Friday night for prime rib and perch. Both are nicely priced, plentifully portioned and mighty tasty. I went with medium rare and a baked potato along with the obligatory whirl around the salad bar. James ate his fill of perch and fries. We both agreed the quality prime rib was the best pick but we were both happy and full. Drinks here will knock you on your ass. I compare it to places like Knight's and Baker's Keyboard Lounge for serving up straight out damn.I'm.drunk type cocktails. These are cheap to boot so you can be a really big lush. Enough of them and I may give karaoke a whirl. Take that as a gremlin type warning, do not let Liz have more than two drinks here or the consequences will be devastating. The atmosphere is average at best but the service is great, people are friendly and the value for your buck is incredible. I'm taking my parents next time, even if they do hinder my drinking.

This is the classiest restaurant between Chelsea and Dexter! It may also be the only restaurant, but it is really good! One of the cool things about this place is they have various sized burgers. You can have from a 1/4 lb burger (which is what I prefer) on up. They include all option (lettuce, tomato, pickle) on the side, which is nice for picky eaters. I'm not sure what it is about their french fries, but they are amazing I have been to Stivers a few times during the week for various sandwiches and entrees and have not been dissapointed. If you live in the area you can call ahead and order food to go. I would stay away from the salad bar. I kinda consider myself a salad bar afficianado and it kinda scares me.... As mentioned in other reviews, their drinks are strong and cheap. They are awesome, but I don't recommend taking children there because of that.. The wait staff have always been awesome and if you don't mind given up decor for good food (although not healthy) at a good price, I highly suggest Stivers!

This review is for the restaurant only. My wife and son decided to stop in after hearing good reviews. We were greeted by a squad of smokers outside and had to walk through the cloud to get in the building. Inside, there were about 10 customers and a sign that said "seat yourself". We went to a section that had no customers and attempted to sit at a round table. A waitress told us that we couldn't sit there because it was reserved for 5 or more people. We shrugged it off and sat at a smaller table. When we got our menus, I was amazed that we had heard good things about the place because the menu looked like it was made for a stand alone bar and not a restaurant. It also looked like it was printed in 1973. We played it safe and each ordered cheeseburgers and fries. I also ordered a cup of chili. We each thought that the burgers were good and the fries (battered) were also good. The chili was good as well. Unfortunately, the good (not great) food can't override the atmosphere and inattentive waitstaff. In all, I would not recommend this place unless you can't wait to eat in the 10 mile stretch of highway between Chelsea and Dexter.

If you haven't been Stiverized then you haven't lived lol. Seriously this place is known for its stiff drinks and they have the reputation of leaning on the bottle. It's mainly a local bar just outside the town of Chelsea on your way to Dexter. The food is actually pretty good. It's located right off the highway so its location is convenient. If you are planning on having more than one drink I recommend bringing a designated driver. Due to its reputation I often see cops posted right by the gas station that is in viewing distance of the bar. I've heard from more than one person that they've been pulled over within 2 minutes of leaving here. There is a state police station very near so it's an easy target. It's one of the most popular bars in the area.

Great food and phenomenal prices. We had the Friday night all you can eat perch. Lightly breaded large chunks of fish for only $8.95. This will definitely be on repeat list. Also the service was great too. Full bar service is available. The review on the wall that stated they do ordinary extraordinary, pretty much says it all.

Great little dinner. Clean, friendly and great food at reasonable prices. Not too many of these left - highly recommend.
