The house that average built. Another place that neither wows nor disappoints. Menu doesn't inspire or let you down. Think burgers, salads, sandwiches and basic entrees. Drinks are higher priced here than other watering holes in town. The place is clean and pushing an Irish pub via its namesake/golf theme. Service can be hit or miss but is usually acceptable. Our last trip here our server struggled throughout the service but she really tried. Some sides were served late, refills didn't really happen but she hustled. She seemed new the craft but the manager didn't step in to help. We tipped on the effort.

I know you are probably thinking "5 stars! How can it be that good?" True, Cheboygan is no foodie Mecca. This restaurant in a tiny modest town quite surprised me. The five stars is warranted, since it scored perfect against my restaurant criteria. We were hesitant to go in for lunch on a lazy Monday while visiting neighbouring Mackinaw City. We thought it would be expensive, and questioned if the quality would be worth it. We passed up the other eateries and had a great lunch. American style bar menu. Lots to choose from. Nice atmosphere, beautiful dark wood bar, some flat screens, comfy chairs. Nice space. Friendly waitresses. They had some Lighthouse Amber beer which is made down the street at the town brewery. I was happy about this because the brewery was closed, so at least I got to try it at Mulligans. Ordered the home made chips & salsa. Very good, surprisingly. I also had a perch sandwich, fresh & local fish with an interesting horseraddish tartar sauce. Came with freshly made bar chips. Super bonus. Love those and these were fried and cut perfectly. Hubby got a Rueben, he seemed to enjoy it. Kids each had chicken fingers and they were excellent. Also came with a house made BBQ sauce that was really good. I am considering going back for a full dinner before we leave town! Quality & delicious food. Everything was fresh and prepared correctly. Waitresses was friendly and knowledgeable. Restaurant itself was clean, well decorated, balanced and comfortable. Prices matched the quality for added value. Bathroom was clean, and decorated nicely. There was not one thing to comment on that is negative. 5 stars, cannot be less. Glad we chose this establishment!

Really great food. Good burgers. Sidewinders yummy! The server was very responsive and helpful. We will be back. Only change you could make is kill the coffee house music. Something more up tempo like hits, classic rock, or oldies would be better. Otherwise great!

As an out of towner I don't expect much from a a small town place as there isn't much competition but this place has got something going on. My wife got a fish sandwich which she got to choose how she wanted it done, what fish and on what bread. She really liked it. I had the reuben, it was pretty good. Not bad prices for a nice place in Cheboygan.

Service was outstanding. Food was good. Best option in cheboygan. Reasonably priced. Would come again. I had orange chicken over rice that was really good.

Atmosphere was nice. Service was good. Food was average. Slightly over-priced for the quality, but with limited options in Cheboygan it could have been worse. My 24 week pregnant wife took one bite of her alfredo pasta dish and sent it back. I tried it, and it definitely wasn't right. First time we've ever done that I think, but they swapped the meal for some tasty fajitas with no fuss. We'll probably try them again next time we're in town.

The atmosphere is ok a lot like Chile's or Applebee's except for the menu. The menu is to small for such a large restaurant. I have never had both a good meal and good service. The wait time food is long and I don't really like the food. Beer is their expertese.

What a pleasant surprise! After reading the reviews I expected average but the beer selection on tap was packed with some excellent local choices and tAsty national brands! Gotta try the cheese curds on the app list.... Wow ! Bourbon Burger was good but a bit overlooked. Staff was very pleasant and accommodating. All in all .... Glad I ventured in... I'll be back

We stopped at mulligans for lunch. I was impressed with the variety of menu items that were available. My wife ordered a burger with a dinner salad and I had to go for the Monster. This burger is amazing!!! Two third pound patties, corned beef, bacon, lettuce tomato and onion and stood about eight inches tall. You better be hungry to tackle this one. Our server was great. She was very friendly and attentive. This was a great dining experience.

I have never experienced a greater expression of racism in this country than I did at this bar. I am white and my significant other is of mixed races; as soon as we walked in we were greeted with three people in full black face and characture costume, wearing stilts with the phrase "Chocolate Thunder" printed across their mock basketball jerseys. That these people were admitted to the bar, exhibiting such racist behavior as they were, was appalling to me. I understand that a bar has to serve its customers, but a bar that openly endorses racism is no bar for me, nor for any American.

great beer for good prices (get the local micro beers) but holy crap even by bar food standards the food sucked. but good beer and a good yokel watering hole. But beware non Christians non rednecks and those who curse should fear for their lives in spots like this.....sorry but it's true, outsiders are feared and hated at mulligans

Love this place! Favorite stop when I'm up north. Laid back fun atmosphere. Really hot friendly bartender doesn't hurt! Good to sit at the bar or come in with a group. When I look at the menu there are many things I'd order.

This place has a great beer selection. The bartender was very attentive and knowledgeable. The food was just ok. We ordered a chicken club which was pretty good. The greek salad was pretty poor. Quite a few pieces of lettuce were brown. We told the bartender/waiter and all he did was tell the chef. No compensation. No apology. Grrrrrrrrrr just passing through and chances that we will be back are slim.

Mulligans, located in the heart of Cheboygan is a pleasant establishment which seems to serve food from GFS. The reheated GFS meals are the same as most other restaurants in the area. I had the Friday night fish & chips special with heavily breaded fish sticks. This all you can eat special was $13, about $3 more than other restaurants in the area. The up charge is partly justified by ambiance. These folks need to hire a chef who uses fresh ingredients. Two stars with a short order cook.

Worst burger I've ever had, waaaaay overdone, beer was flat, pops were flat too. Never going back.

A nice little bar & grill in downtown Cheboygan. I attended a wedding rehearsal dinner in the banquet room. The room is nice--large windows, spacious. We had a buffet dinner--the Tex Mex food was tasty. Service was very friendly. We had two servers and the seemed a little overwhelmed by the large size of our party (I think one of them may have been new to the job, as well). Ordering our drinks was a bit of a mess--they tried to take our orders before showing us the selections, there was no system to order taking or drink delivery and several people's drinks were forgotten, forcing them to reorder. But the servers were very responsive and things were eventually straightened out. Seems like this would be a nice place for a casual dinner--good place to grab a beer and a burger with friends.

This is a nice clean friendly restaurant in Northern Michigan. Very good atmosphere, great place to come with a group of friends. The food is pretty good also, I ordered the nachos, and like most places that serve nachos, it was a large portion (more than I could eat). The drinks were great. I had a long island ice tea and it tasted good enough to order a second one. Definitly a place I would come to again with a group of friends.

We stopped at this spot as out-of-towners and found it was one of the few places open for lunch. The bar selection was nice and everything inside was clean and neat. We were given very knowledgeable advice about a few beers and were even given a sample of my second choice. Our burgers were beautifully done and a nice medium rare. My expectations of what small town food would be like were totally obliterated when I tasted their homemade chips. Yum yum! I don't know how long it has been since I found a place that makes their own sides like that and it was such a pleasure to be there. We will certainly return the next time we are in the area. Thanks for a great experience!

Argh... One too many frustrating experiences at this restaurant knocks it down at least a star from my previous review. I really think it deserves a 2.5, but I'm grading on a curve, I guess, since there are so few options in town. Food is a 3 (menu has changed, ingredients are slowly getting lower in quality), service is a 2 at this point. There are mistakes to our order almost every time we visit, often several in one visit, and the last few times the food has taken waaay to long to arrive, with giant gaps when the server is nowhere to be found. The missing/wrong items and long wait times are always casually shrugged off. I don't really understand how or why this same scenario is played out so consistently. (Read: Management???...) It's never particularly swamped, the servers don't seem rushed... it just seems like there is an overall flippant attitude about the idea of SERVICE. Blech. I'm no longer impressed.

Our experience here was so good, we're bringing our hubby's back for dinner. We had the grilled cheese w/ o-rings, turkey bacon avocado w/ sweet potato fries, & the French dip w/ reg fries. It was ssooo good we all shared. The sandwiches were awesome. I'm not a fan of sweet potato fries, but these were cooked so the outside was crispy & the inside was soft & peppered w/ cinnamon. Nice local place w/ good food. A bonus for me, the meat is local!

Great food, great atmosphere, good service. Friday night was a little slow at first, but picked up by 7pm. Very casual atmosphere. Sarah D our server knew all about the draft items and specials for the night. Impressed by her friendly service and knowledge. Food was really good. Fresh and made to order. Prime rib sandwich was tender and juicy. Bourbon burger was cooked perfectly. Will definitely be back next time we're in northern Michigan.
