A cool place in a historic building and well, the possibility of vegan food in such a far-away place doesn't hurt. I had a mushroom burger and my girlfriend had pancakes. Of course there could be some more variety to the vegan stuff but I'm willing to bet there aren't that many passing through. Everyone there was quiet friendly (it was obvious we weren't local) and it turned out we were the only people who had gotten one of the yelp deal things so that was an extra bargain. If I ever find myself in that area again I would certainly go back.
Great spot about 20 minutes away from Munising and definitely worth the short drive to grab a home-cooked delicious meal. Don't let the super tiny strip of a town distract you. It's certainly a hidden gem for tourists who are probably spending most of their time around Pictured Rocks or the larger town of Marquette. The staff is super friendly, ingredients are fresh, and menu seasonal. It's got a nice, warm interior with local art and mix-matched tables and chairs. The food is beyond what you'd expect to find in a cafe. While it's got coffee, brunch, sandwiches, and salads, it's also got a selection of dinner entrees. We had rib eye steaks that came with a salad with homemade maple dressing, roasted broccoli and an option of sweet potato, potato, or rice. Dessert was my favorite part of the meal and plate-licking delicious! We got both desserts: cheesecake with strawberries and both chocolate and caramel sauce (we wanted it all!) and the bread pudding with a whiskey sauce. Our table was split on which was better, but I'm a big bread pudding fan and theirs is superb. It's served warm with a nice toastiness on the top coupled with a moist bottom and a slight bit of custard-like flavor. Whiskey sauce put it over the edge. I also enjoyed it with some fresh strawberries. It's simply divine and a great finish to the meal.
Went there because the hotel told us they were there, for a mom and pop shop it was pretty expensive there was 4 of us total and we spent $109 and the food was not that great, I'm from CA and I thought this place was expensive so what must be worth something...The staff was really nice though.
