I have been going here since it opened. Great food as always and now starting a sushi menu! I usually eat the Thai Fried noodles with extra spice. It is a great family owned business that takes customer service seriously. Delicious!!

Great place with a wonderful variety to choose from. Portions are enough to share or take home for meal next day. I had the Gang curry which was full of vegetables and chicken, very flavorful just enough heat to keep it interesting, husband had General Tso chicken extra spicy and he said it did not disappoint. We also shared Tum Ka. Service was very attentive and personal! Will definitely come here again.

I've been enjoying Asian food for 25 years and can honestly say this was the worst Asian food I've ever had. We barely touched our lunches before leaving for something else. The crab wontons were very skimpy with the filling and my husband's hot and sour soup was in edible. The soup was thick, dark, not sour or spicy at all, and nearly gel like in texture. My. "Bulgogi" was merely beef with broccoli with a splash of ginger sauce. The "fried rice" was white rice bathed in soy sauce with 2 shriveled up peas - no eggs, carrots, garlic, etc. that typically makes up fried rice. My husband's "Kung Pao Chicken" was anything but - loads of celery drenched in a nasty brown sludge with 3 peanuts and a few slices of onions. My Thai Iced Tea was good and our server, Lily, did a good job. But I would never eat here again.

Great food and service. Me and my boyfriend tried this place for our anniversary and it was a great experience. Atomosphere was calm relaxing and clean and simply but nicely decorated. Server was very friendly and attentive and gave good recommendations on dishes. The menu is well versed with Thai,Chinese,Koren dishes as well as fusion dishes. Resonable to above average price but you get what you pay for in taste as well as portion. When we get another chance to visit the area we will be back.

Food is tasty but no beef in the Mongolian beef and 2 shrimp in the pad Thai. Expensive for noodles and rice.

The owner Kaoyi was my server and she was very attentive to my needs. The place was empty at 2:30 pm, as expected. Frankly, I was lucky they were open at this time as many restaurants close from 2-5 pm. I had something I don't usually have called Sesame Chicken along with my usual Hot n' Sour soup opener. The chicken I liked better than the soup. The chicken was moist and taste intensive. I'd order it again. The soup had a beefy flavor to it and not much of a sour flavor. It was good, just not spectacular. I'll go back again here some time and would recommend it to anyone coming in on a boat given that it's right across from the marina. This is a great stop to introduce yourself to Charlevoix with. I have pictures of my meal but don't see an option to post them from my desk top.

Above-average restaurant with an eclectic variety of Asian dishes. The food is tasty and fresh. Both times I had rice dishes; the 2nd time it was noticeably greasier. A diner at the next table had a noodle dish which looked very appealing. I have 2 gripes with the place, though: 1) Their wonton soup doesn't actually include wontons. You get wide, flat noodles instead. The first time I thought it might just be how it was ladled out, but it happened on the 2nd visit as well. I find this misleading; it shouldn't be called wonton soup if there are no wontons! 2) They charge for tea -- or rather, a cup of hot water and a tea bag. Overall, though, a good addition to the local dining scene.

I'm giving the highest rating because the foods are excellent. The restaurant is run by a Thai family and their Thai dishes are very authentic. We didn't try others and would not be doubt the other dishes are equal quality.

I'm giving this place three stars because the food is very good. This place could definitely use a good scrubbing. It's a white table cloth restaurant that is very dirty. Portions are on the smaller side but for lunch it's just right. Service is great.....next time I would order it to go and eat in my own clean kitchen.

Location and decor: Asian Fusion has a great location in the middle of the downtown Charlevoix strip. It offers a great contrast to the seafood and American restaurants in the area. The restaurant is small with only 8 tables and minimal decoration, but the service is quick and friendly. You can tell its a family owned and run restaurant. Food: The menu is in 3 sections: fusion dishes, Thai dishes, and Chinese food, with traditional appetizers. Owners/ chefs are from Laos and Thailand. We ordered the Shaking Beef and Red Curry. Beef was good, not great. It came in a thick sweet and sour sauce with crisp mushrooms, onions, and broccoli. Veggies were great, but the meat and sauce tasted too sweet to really enjoy. The curry had water chestnuts, peanuts, and green pepper and tofu (our protein of choice). Tofu was nothing special and curry sauce was great for the first few bites, but quickly tasted overwhelmingly salty. Lots of interesting flavors, though. Each dish was the size of a full bowl and $12-14. Overall this was a nice place to go when other restaurants were booked, but not much ambiance and only decent food.

I'm kind of bummed that my review of this restaurant disappeared...anyways, first, I need to just say the review Bruce T. left is a tad offensive, saying this restaurant is not like traditional asian eateries. Obviously, he has no clue what authentic asian food is like. Anyways, I digress. Being Asian American, I had pretty low expectations from this place...and no, it's not because of the nice table cloths and being clean, but because of the location of this restaurant. It's hard enough to find decent asian food in Michigan, but up north, where the asian population is slim to none, I was very surprised. I went up north with my fiance (att) and my detail angel, to attend the bridal expo and decided to grab some dinner at AF. We were the only customer there, so it was quite and the waiter was very attentive. I ordered the pad thai with tofu, my fiance ordered the pad thai, and my friend ordered I believe orange chicken? We were all very impressed by our dishes. The portions were perfect too...even though I didn't finish my plate, my left overs were still tasty! The food took some time to make, but we were very entertained by the fishy's in the tank right next to us. This place seems to specialize in thai and chinese food. I am definitely going to be going back here and recommending this place to my friends and family, when they come out for the wedding =) This place is definitely "as good as it gets!" in Charlevoix, MI!

Great little place. Really first quality food. Second visit; ordered Hot & Sour soup, Crab Rangoons and Egg Rolls. All 3 items were some of, if not the best, I've ever had.

I've lived in LA and Chicago, so I was concerned about having decent Thai food in northern Michigan. This place was great. They have a Thai and Chinese menu, and they offered vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options which was perfect for the crazy mix of eaters in my family. We went on a whim in 2014 and it was so good we made a point to come back in 2015. It was just as good. This year we shared green curry an gang curry, both of which were great and spiced well- not too hot but flavorful. We also had tofu pad thai (nicely cooked tofu) and drunken noodles (perfectly spicy). The spring rolls and egg rolls are excellent as well. It took a few minutes to get water and a few minutes for them to close out the check, but the staff is super friendly and accommodating. Well priced and good food.

Holy cow - it's good. Get in your car now and go. As a vegetarian in Northern Michigan, I often compromise at dinner. Sure, I'll eat pasta AGAIN. Sure, i'll take a plate of roasted vegetables. No problem. But it's a drag to eat out and eat boring. Asian Fusion is one place you don't have to compromise anything. Veggie egg rolls, veggie spring rolls, a huge list of veggie items. Jasmine tea and then they made General Tso's chicken with tofu because they are AWESOME. Small, friendly with a sweetheart of a wait staff - this place rocks. My husband is not a vegetarian and he had the shaking beef. Weird name but holy balls was it good. Go here - be aware that they close early every month but July. Parking is challenging but so is everything in downtown Charlevoix during the summer. This place is incredible and you won't be sorry you made the trip.

Good service and good food. If in the mood for Thai or Chinese. My husband thought his dish was just mediocre.

We came in on a Saturday night in the fall and it wasn't very busy (tourist are gone for the season). Staff was great and food was wonderful. 4 Adults and 1 toddler. No kids menu but my toddler shared my Pad Thai and loved it. Our group had the Gang Curry (one with chicken and the other with tofu), Pad Thai and the Thai Fried Noodle. Everyone loved their dishes. The egg drop soup was great too. It had a nice light broth with veggie chunks, another item my toddler loved. Not a lot of seating so I assume it might get very busy in the summer.

Sure would love to write a review on the food, but you have to be open for that. Drove a half hour to dine here on Saturday to find they were closed for the Labor Day weekend. This seems to happen at a lot of Chinese restaurants in the northern parts of Michigan. Drove up the road to the other place...Same note on door.

Don't judge this place on the one poor review they have. Their food and service are both impeccable. The sweet and sour chicken and sesame chicken are great! Definitely a quality Asian restaurant in this area.

Yes, I'll give them 5 stars for my first visit. This isn't your traditional asian restaurant, its clean, white table cloths, and very attentive service. The prices also reflect this but for me the value was there. The steamed dumpling appetizer tasted just like the ones I've had in China. Our food came fast and hot. I had the Szechuan pork, spicy and well done. My wife had the Thai Ocean Curry, a fusion dish that had whole scallops, shrimp, and a whole lobster tail on top served in a curry sauce. Again, well done. My daughter had the beef and broccoli, simple and delicious. The server was on top of our needs without being overwhelming. My advice is to eat here before the busy summer season as it will most likely be hard to get a table once the word gets out. The seating is somewhat limited and I considered 4 stars due to no beer or wine, but overall I am a fan and this may become a regular stop if I have similar experiences with future visits. Sorry if I offended Shirls H. with my opening comment. I'm not asian, however I am in China annually and have eaten many meals of authentic asian food, in asia. Not the Americanized asian food. I meant no disrespect, I think most yelpers would agree with my comment on the class of the establishment. I was referring only to the restaurant itself, not the food, and I loved both. It seems we agree on the quality of the food so I'm not quite sure why you slammed me as not knowing what authentic asian food is like.

Finally, a proper Asian restaurant in Charlevoix. Positive first experience. I ordered Pad Thai (medium-plus for spice) to go and it was done in 10 minutes. Tasted great, but next time I will know to ask for extra lemon/lime and extra crushed peanuts on top. 2013 is their first season in Charlevoix, and you can tell that they are still getting their legs under them. They do a variety of dishes including General Tso's Chicken (Chinese) and Shaking Beef. (Vietnamese). The restaurant is clean and tidy, and the staff are very friendly. Prices are a bit high, but the quality of ingredients is great. I will definitely be visiting them again.

Delicious food and a great addition to Charlevoix. I highly recommend this restaurant. We had the drunken noodles and the red curry. Both were delicious and I can't wait to go back next time we are in town.

Good food, good prices. Very small so you might have a bit of wait if you come in during a busier time. Groups of 4 or less are fine.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
