We really enjoyed our stay here. You get that comfortable feeling of being home. The reason we choose b&b's over hotels is the hospitality, and we were truly blessed to find such great hosts in Armand and Michelle. Breakfast was over the top mmmmmmm!

Esperance

Charlevoix, 49720
Reviews:
In addition to the many enjoyable meals we have experienced at Esperance, in this case, Pram and Suzanne provide an elegant location for a private dinner - a wedding rehearsal dinner. Starting outside in the beautiful garden, the evening progressed through a wonderful menu that Suzanne assembled from both local farm produce, and supplemented with a few favorites from further abroad. Suzanne's creations were only made better through Pram's expert pairing of wine. Strongly encourage you to enjoy their wonderful restaurant whenever you can - it rivals anything we've eaten in Paris, Zurich, New York!!
The Food: One word, Fantastic! Local in-season ingredients are integrated into the menu providing fresh, flavorful, and creative dishes. The owners focus on providing the highest quality food for each dish, which is shown in the level of detail that the food is prepared. The staff and dining experience: It's obvious that the owners have passion for food, wine, and hospitality by the way Pram and his staff make you feel right at home in the cozy space. Esperance provides an amazing dining experience with a casual feel. The food is second to none (as stated above) and you'll be provided the perfect pairings through Pram's knowledge of wine. Bravo Esperance!
Excellent staff Wonderful selection of specialty goods Beautiful wine collection The rewards they received from wine spectator are well deserved

Asian Fusion

Reviews:
I have been going here since it opened. Great food as always and now starting a sushi menu! I usually eat the Thai Fried noodles with extra spice. It is a great family owned business that takes customer service seriously. Delicious!!
Great place with a wonderful variety to choose from. Portions are enough to share or take home for meal next day. I had the Gang curry which was full of vegetables and chicken, very flavorful just enough heat to keep it interesting, husband had General Tso chicken extra spicy and he said it did not disappoint. We also shared Tum Ka. Service was very attentive and personal! Will definitely come here again.
I've been enjoying Asian food for 25 years and can honestly say this was the worst Asian food I've ever had. We barely touched our lunches before leaving for something else. The crab wontons were very skimpy with the filling and my husband's hot and sour soup was in edible. The soup was thick, dark, not sour or spicy at all, and nearly gel like in texture. My. "Bulgogi" was merely beef with broccoli with a splash of ginger sauce. The "fried rice" was white rice bathed in soy sauce with 2 shriveled up peas - no eggs, carrots, garlic, etc. that typically makes up fried rice. My husband's "Kung Pao Chicken" was anything but - loads of celery drenched in a nasty brown sludge with 3 peanuts and a few slices of onions. My Thai Iced Tea was good and our server, Lily, did a good job. But I would never eat here again.

Argonne Supper Club

11929 Boyne City Rd
Charlevoix, 49720
Reviews:
So the Argonne family (I don't know their actual last name) opened this place around 1950 and have been serving shrimp, fried chicken, frog legs and Great Lakes whitefish ever since. Some other Yelpers don't like that some policies have changed over the last half century -- such as no longer offering all you can eat shrimp. But hasn't the whole world changed since then? Should the Argonne family be exempt from the rules of change over time? Their coleslaw served family style is really good. Their bread is so sweet and delicious that I recommend saving it for dessert since its almost like cake. Their shrimp are always large and at this visit my piece of broiled whitefish was so giant they had to tuck the ends under to get it to fit onto the plate. Come to the Argonne and enjoy well prepared food in Charlevoix the Beautiful and if you want things the way your grandparents remember them, please look at old family photo albums. These people are running a restaurant in a tiny resort town in the current day.
Ah the Argonne. My dear mother loved this place. My father would pile us all in the car and head north to the Argonne for shrimp and frog legs on a Saturday night in the summer. We would go on and off over the decades, We stopped going in the early 2000's, the service was poor and the shrimp just wasn't what it used to be. Flash forward to the summer of 2011. My wife and I thought we'd give this another try and I'm glad we did. The steamed and the hand battered fired are incredible. You have to try the mustard dipping sauce for either. Skip the salad and get the coleslaw. The salads are just ok but the homemade coleslaw is very good. I am giving the shrimp here 4 stars not anything else on the menu. Some of the other things we tried this last summer were not very good, so stay with the shrimp (if they have coconut shrimp as a special DO NOT GET IT, it's not their hand battered stuff it's not god at all) the perch was good but just get the shrimp. They close for the winter and open, i think, in May. so check before going. hey no longer do frog legs or all you can eat shrimp, but the portions are so big it's not an issue. My mom would be so happy.
Argonne used to be a staple if our annual week up north, but the service and quality have declined while the prices increased. They stopped the salads included in the dinners, portions are smaller and don't order the all-you-can eat shrimp unless everyone at the table does too.

Bridge Street Tap Room

Charlevoix, 49720
Reviews:
The bridge street taproom is one of my favorite spots. The beer selection is one of a kind and always changing. I can say that I've never seen the same beer menu 2 days in a row. They always keep it fresh and exciting. Sure, the beer is great (to be expected), but so is the food. Their pizzas are always on point and their sandwiches are unique and creative. Especially the grilled Mac & Cheese!
We were in Charlevoix over New Years for the first time. We were recommended to eat at Bridge Street Tap by our hotel and ended up going back 3 times! This place has an amazing selection of beer but the food is also fantastic! Everything we ate was delicious for both lunch and dinner. But even better... the staff is so AMAZING. Everyone was really nice and they were able to give us recommendations on both the food and the beer! On New Years, I left my purse at the bar. I went back as they were closing and one of the bartenders had found my purse and got it back to me. We were leaving early the next day so I was thrilled to get it back. THANK YOU EVERYONE!
Just finished a fantastic breakfast. The breakfast pizza is AMAZING!! Coffee, potatoes, breakfast sandwich were also all great and reasonably priced. Don't miss this gem!

Pigs Eatin’ Ribs

Charlevoix, 49720
Reviews:
Apparently, I got the pulled pork tacos last year, but I didn't remember what I ordered until I saw my own Yelp review! Funny. This year, I got BBQ ribs. The half order was really too big for me, but that's my own fault. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, and I like their BBQ sauce a lot. I tend to like Carolina sauce, but this tomato-based one was really delicious! The mac n' cheese was really tasty - big curly noodles - and the potato salad is still waiting in my refrigerator to be finished. The bite I had was really good, but I was just too full to finish it all! Next time, I'll share a half order of ribs with a friend.
I stopped by the Pigs Eatin' Ribs food truck at The Little Fleet while camping in Traverse City. I got the brisket sandwich and my boyfriend got the pulled pork tacos. The brisket was very tender and juicy, but it just didn't really have much flavor. It wasn't smoky at all and the sandwich really needed a pop of something. It had some mustard sauce and a few shreds of Gouda, but it really lacked the flavor I am looking for with BBQ. The brioche bun it came on was also kind of big and seemed to suck the flavor out and overpowered the sandwich. The pulled pork tacos were a bit better, but they still could have used some spice or sauce. Overall, this is definitely not the best BBQ I've ever had, but it was decent for a first meal after eating camp food all weekend!
Stopped by the physical location today. Had brisket, pulled pork, and sausage sandwiches. Brisket and sausage were A+... Pulled pork maybe a B+. Homemade chips were great as were the buns. We have eaten BBQ in all the hotspots (Austin/ Lockhart, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, even Detroit) . This is real deal, offset smoker BBQ. Way better than the gas fired Southern Pride stuff most places call authentic. They were out of ribs but that is how it works.. One of the best known places in Austin runs out of food by 11am almost every day. Give them a try.

lived and worked near here a long time my personal favorite local spot great service great food fair price
Everything was just ok but it is a great location right on the main street. The bang bang shrimp was so overcooked it was unappetizing. Now that I got that out of they way I will obviously tell you about the chicken pot pie. They are not kidding about the award they get for that dish. The crust was so yummy! This is a must! It could definitely be a shared dish too. So go in, grab a drink and the pot pie :) :)
Did not eat. Manager was rude. This review is not about food. I did not actually eat here because I was not given the opportunity to. My wife and I walked in with our child because they had a lit "Open" sign in the window of the restaurant side. Apparently we walked in a couple minutes after the restaurant closed. I was approached by the manager who let us know they were just closed which was fine so I decided to let them know about the lit "Open" sign in their window. Instead of apologizing or acknowledging the problem the manager decided to take the patronizing route and told me it was because there were still patrons dining inside. After she made sure to let me know in the rudest way possible that we were wrong for coming in, I decided they would never have my business.

Good was OK nothing more. Nice view. Service was like the food OK but nothing special. Wife's mussels had good flavor but lots of grit. No draft beer. Would try again. Charlevoix needs good moderate priced restaurants.
A great new addition to the Stafford's family of restaurants. This is in the space across the street from the Weathervane, in the Edgewater Inn. They currently serve breakfast and lunch but plan to add dinner soon. We have eaten breakfast here 3 times now, and it's been great. Not your usual greasy spoon fare, it's a creative menu focusing on local ingredients. The food is delicious and the service friendly. It's a tad on the pricey side, particularly the side of bacon I ordered ($4.50 for 2 slices!) but don't let that stop you. Worth the trip!
Meh. Typical Stafford's--decent food; not-so-great service. Scallops were burnt, risotto was salty, but the broccolini was excellent. Ventilation was not great (kitchen was right in the bar) and we left smelling like the food. V

If you are looking for a small mom and pop Restaurant for breakfast then this might be the place. I have eaten here many times and have always been happy with the place. Its a small place and you may have to set at the counter as there are only a few tables. The largest table has the usual group of regulars and they come and go, but the table is always occupied. The food is fresh and the coffee is good and I was say the food is your standard diner fare, nothing fancy and nothing to unusual.
We love going to Judy's. The owners are friendly and always make us "down state-rs" feel welcome. They are open for breakfast and lunch. The food is fresh and home cooked. Great breakfasts, reasonably priced. I love their chicken taco salad as well. They have daily promotions..free dessert day, all you can eat pancake and sausage day, Monday madness where everything on the menu is $5.00. One thing to note, they do not accept credit cards.
We've vacationed in Charlevoix, and Judy's is clean, friendly, and a top ranking local cafe!! Great Value for the $ spent.
