Diabetics at TGI Friday

If you're a diabetic, then you must be extra careful while dining at TGI Friday. Try the salad menu at TGI Friday to keep your sugar and sodium intake in check. Soups are great to keep you full and satisfied without munching on the unhealthy greased meat-based dishes on TGI Friday menu.

Foods to Avoid at TGI Friday for Diabetics:

Sugar and sodium intake are crucial if you have diabetes. While the salads are the best option for you at TGI Friday, it is recommended to avoid the Pecan-Crusted Chicken Salad containing over 1000 calories and 1,650mg sodium. Also, skip Warm Pretzels with Craft Beer-Cheese dipping sauce as it contains more than 3000mg sodium. Called to ask how long the wait time was for a table for two and was told, "I don't know" I asked him again thinking maybe he didn't hear my question and he again told me "I don't know" but this time said he was a "kitchen guy." So I asked if there was anyway I could talk to someone in the front of the house and I was told no, and that IF I came in, just know we are extremely busy right now... I've worked in the restaurant industry my whole life. No excuse for this. It's 2015 learn how to route your calls properly.

The food was OK Uccellos is a better choice. They used canned mushrooms which I personally am not a fan of. The staff was not very friendly. I probably won't be back for a while.

I have been here for dinner one time and dessert one other time. I enjoyed the food and the staff was friendly as well.

First off, I did not recognize the place when I walked in. The building used to be home to Sam's Joint, and we used to go in all the time. It was always dark, with the stained glass windows and shades. Now, it's bright and the windows let in lots of sun. The whole place has been updated and looks amazing. The wait staff was very friendly, the hostess had a big smile on her face and directed us to our table where my grandparents were already waiting. The atmosphere was also very pleasant, they play Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby. I was very excited when "Ain't That a Kick in The Head", because I'm a big nerd and love FNV. We tried a little of everything, I had a burger which was grilled with two thick pieces of bacon and bleu cheese. The fries tasted like the wal-mart seasoned fries, not spectacular but they were crisp and pretty good. Dad had sausage and peppers, which was a marinara penne dish, and he said it was amazing. My stepmom and sister both had alfredo, one with chicken and the other with shrimp, again, both said they were very good. Grandma and Grandpa split a thin crust pizza, and had to stop Dad from stealing it. I've had their gluten free pizza before, leftover at my mom's and even reheated in the microwave it was very good. So far, no complaints! We will definitely be returning!

This place deserves 5 stars. My husband and I visit frequently and know many of the staff members and are always warmly greeted. I also have an allergy and it is always taken care of correctly without any cross contamination! We drive here all the way from Byron Center for the only pizza I have found I can eat in the area that can be made dairy free and tastes delicious!

Have been going to this location for about 6 months now and will continue to give Fricano's our business! My wife has a dairy allergy and the staff was very helpful and attentive to her issue. We come here frequently enough to where we have gotten to know most of the wait staff, and they are all very warm and friendly. The pizza is unique; i've found people either love it or hate it. I personally LOVE it. the crust is very thin like a cracker, and the toppings are all very flavorful and fresh. (only caveat: they used canned mushrooms, NOT fresh. when i asked why, the server said it was because that's how Fricano's has always done it; they are big on tradition). The sausage especially has a spicy twang to it, its delicious. As far as appetizers go, i've tried the calamari and Spinach and Artichoke dip. Both, in my opinion, are to die for. the dip is homemade, and instead of just boring tortilla chips, they basically bake up a pizza crust as the "chips" and brush it with garlic, parm. cheese and spices. VERY delicious. the calamari is terrific as well. it winds up crispy on the outside, not slimy or mushy, and has a sweet kick to it. They also have a good selection of local beer and drinks, which i love to see. I think it's important to support local businesses! If you're in the area, or even if you're an hour away, make the trip down here! great food, great staff, great environment. You wont be disappointed.

Just finishing a pizza with everything but the little fish (anchovies). What a fine pizza! Definitely a great Fricanos Creation. Wife and I both enjoyed it. We started with a side salad. She had a Founders All Day IPA. I went for the Perrin's Black Lager. Don't miss this place. It is in downtown Caledonia.

If I could give them 0 stars I would. We've eaten there a total of 3 times since they opened. Each time thinking "well, we will give them another chance". But each time was as bad. First off, they don't have bread sticks of any kind there. What kind of a pizza place doesn't have bread sticks? So we asked if they have some ciabatta bread, which they do but the waitress was rude about it saying "you can only have that if someone orders pasta". Which someone at our table was ordering some so I guess we should feel lucky we got the bread. We tried the pizza with just cheese on it. It was extremely greasy to where we had to blot the grease off. My daughter does love their spaghetti, so they have that going for them. My son tried the fettuccine alfredo and he couldn't hardly get past the smell of it. And this boy likes his food and loves fettuccine alfredo but he said this was so nasty that he had a hard time choking it down. I told him to order something else but he said he lost his appetite. So after 3 tries, we will not be going back to Fricano's.

fricanos needs to stick to pizza because there other food was bad and overpriced at least they tasted there own bad food and if i were them i would keep the place more casual and less expensive the pizza is great but the other food is bad and add keno your a local place add keno and the service was good

This place is just awful. I ordered the Chicken Parmesan and asked for a different sauce. I was told the chef won't make substitutions. That should have been my first clue. The salad was limp with warm dressing. When my chicken came out the sauce was flavorless, chicken rubbery, and pasta dripping with flavorless oil. Flavorless and rubber seems to be the word of the day. For $14.50 I could have driven to Olive Garden and had a better meal, with breadsticks! Also, Olive Garden will substitute whatever you want (and I don't even like Olive Garden!!!)! Service was poor. Ran out of water twice. It is also very loud. I will never come back. The Mexican place in town is the only place worth eating.

Wow! My husband and I were in town visiting family and Fricanos was recommended. My husband and I are from a large city and are definitely food snobs. We thought the food would be your typical "Western Michigan" fare - nothing too exciting. We were wrong to say the least. Fricano's absolutely BLEW us away. We had the fried cheese appetizer and it was great! We liked the dipping sauce variety. My husband had a pizza and it was the most perfect pizza with amazing crust. The "birdseed" topping? Yum! I had the lasagne and it was some of the best italian food I've ever had. We finished with pumpkin cheesecake even though we were full since we were so impressed with all of the other dishes. That was fantastic as well. Our server ( I think Tad?) was so friendly and helpful when it came to suggestions. Great food. Great service. We will DEFINITELY be coming back when we are back in town!

I honestly don't get the negative reviews on this place. Fricanos has been a west michigan staple for many years. Some of the best pizza in town. This place has delivers that without having to hoof it out to grand haven or on to alpine. The pizza I had was great. Service was prompt and helpful, albeit a little in personal. Wish it were a little closer into town though. Main street caledonia is a little bit of a drive. Worth it though. Fantastic pizza at a reasonable price.

I really wanted to like Fricano's since it was nice to have a new option in Caledonia and they did a nice job with the renovations of the old Sams Joint...but, service has been poor both times, the food is ok but quite expensive for what you get. Today I asked if the sub I ordered came with fries, and it did not...and was $2.25 to upgrade the chips. Kind of a lot...so we didn't. Then both of them came with fries anyway?? I had the pizza first time I was there, and I guess it's just not my preferred style. Hopefully things improve as this location matures, but for now Uccellos is better food, service and value. And they are much more kid friendly.

My wife and I had our first visit to Fricanos last weekend. Out pizza and service were amazing. We ate at the bar and the bartender Alicia did a fantastic job making it a great experience. We will be back this weekend. What a great addition to Caledonia!

A foul, atrocious pizza awaits anyone coming to this Caledonia eatery. It serves up the most disgusting food ever cooked in a town (Grand Rapids) full of things that are perfectly cooked. Our recent visit was a letdown from the moment my watered down Founders IPA arrived. Our wet floppy crust pizzas were from our nightmares with canned, rubbery mushrooms, very little mozzarella cheese and sausage that had no flavor. We ate a few bites and quickly put this miserable, suffering beast of a pizza down and left. Don't be taken in by the name "Fricano's." The pizza here is devious and deceptive and downright horrible.

  • Shawn M.

Food was decent but nothing to rave about. Waitress was nice, hostess was too quiet and unfriendly. Strange banter from staff when entering in-one talking about not showering that day. Could definitely improve food quality and service. Canned mushroom instead of fresh on pizza. The fried mozzarella balls weren't really balls but were good- the marinara was too thin. I like thin crust pizza but the crust was sorta weird and the sausage seems sorta unusual as well. The Italian sub was pretty decent. Should do hand cut fries with it-not pre-frozen ones. Smelled really musty in there too like an old basement. Needs improvement but not bad.

  • Carrie Z.

Recently opened and a great addition to this area. Not sure there was a need for yet another pizza place in Caledonia but the atmosphere and food here is definitely a step up from the fast food pizza places. My only complaint was that they had run out of anchovies, but I'll cut them a break since it was only the first week they were open. My pizza was still delicious!

The deer in the headlights look in the server's face should have been the first clue to our upcoming experience. My husband, myself and my 21 year old son had come in for dinner. We ordered mozzarella appetizer was good. The salads were fresh, however, the Caesar salad was made with mixed greens and the dressing was on the side. Weird. When the server dropped off the appetizers and salads, she left one side plate. So my son and I had to use our salad plates. Then we didn't see our server again until we asked someone to get her for us. The food was delivered by a food runner. No clean plate for my husband's pizza. No server. I had ordered risotto with asparagus and chicken. My son had veal Parmesan and my husband ordered a pizza. The pizza was ok but greasy. I took one bite of the risotto and put my fork down. The consistency of it was like porridge. Not one full grain of rice in sight. There was oil pooling around the edges. There were four baby sprigs of asparagus and the chicken was strips that looked white. No grill marks in sight. Not edible. My son cut into his veal and asked us to taste it. It had no flavor, no seasonings. It tasted like hamburger with no salt or pepper. We began searching for someone to help us. Still no server to check on us. We happened to see the manager walking by and yelled for her to stop. (You have to yell in order to be heard, because it is so loud in the entire place.). We told her about the food and she began to defend why it had the oil. "The chef uses a lot of cheese to make the risotto, so that is where the oil comes from," she said. I so disagree. What Parmesan cheese made has that much oil in it when it melts? But I digress. She said she would talk to the chef, offered something else to us, which we declined and said she would take it off the bill. All standard and appropriate responses in this situation. If she hadn't seem so disingenuous the entire time she was speaking to us, this whole review would be completely different. So, take our advice. Don't waste your time or money. It's not worth it.

Ate here for the first time, it has been open for a while and my wife and I could tell. Food was delicious, service was great, and atmosphere was what you should expect from a classy restaurant. I had the risotto my wife had the Alfredo and we were both pleased. Nice separate rooms for a larger parties. HUGE bar, we might be sitting there next time. We will be back to try the pizza.

It is okay, I will probably be back but not regularly. I've been there twice and both times it was quite busy on a weeknight, I think they are doing well. I ordered salmon the first time which met my expectations but I wouldn't rave about it. The second time I ordered walleye which had a bone in almost every bite I took, I left most of it on my plate. The pasta sides were good, as were the drinks I ordered from the bar. Our servers were polite and cheerful both times, and the inside of the restaurant is nice. I just haven't found my go-to dish here yet but it's promising enough that I will keep looking every now & then. For now I prefer Uccellos when I want a nearby dinner.

Place just opened so pretty crowded for 7:30 on a Thursday night. We had about a 30 minute wait. Nice look to the place with the checkerboard table cloths. Our table was a little dirty but we understood with being new and as slammed as they were. We ordered Brushetta and a couple of 12 inch pizza's. The pizza came out first which was disappointing since we wanted the bread as an appetizer. Pizzas were good but a little greasy. Our server was right when he said should order one for each person (they are 12" thin crust). Brushetta was Ok. A little pricey for small pizzas but you are paying for the ambiance as well. It will be a nice place to take guests when in town, but we probably won't be regulars there.

Finally someone realize it was a good idea to bring a classy/fresh GR style eatery to cozy and quaint Main St. In Caledonia!! This lovely new restaurant is great for a night out with friends, a date with your husband or dinner with the family! While we were eating dinner my two year old kept saying "dish-us" aka delicious which I couldn't have agreed more! The pizza is thin crust with the perfect amount of sauce, cheese and toppings! The atmosphere and customer service were outstanding! This is such a nice change up from the trendy "we don't give a shit" attitude you get when your eating in downtown GR. Another plus is that they are just a couple doors down from the ice cream shop we love to go to so we just hopped over there after dinner for a little desert! Perfect night! We can't wait to go back!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
