The pizza -baked in a wood-fired stove- was excellent. Tasty chewy crust with fresh nicely spiced sauce. A pizza would feed 2 but you might want to add a side Caesar salad. My date had the prime rib. He said it was tender, deliciously rare and seasoned perfectly. The homemade bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar was a good start. And the chocolate peanut butter bars were a delicious ending. They were rich enough that this chocoholic was willing to share one! The staff was attentive without being intrusive. Ambience is warm and inviting with moderate noise levels. Kid friendly, as well. We will be back!

Great pizza! Great caprice salad! And onion loaf! Kathy our server was very knowledgeable about pizza perpetration and wine. The place, and bathrooms are very clean. We will be back

We went there on a Saturday evening. It wasn't busy. We ordered drinks and it took forever to get them. Then, the food came out. What a disappointment! My sons burger looked like a hockey puck. $9. My pasta was devoid of any spices. $18. Our second round of drinks never came. Meanwhile, whom I presume was an owner, was sitting at a table in the back with friends not once watching what was coming out of the kitchen. The whole experience reminded me of eating at an airport restaurant... Including prices. We won't be coming back. I was looking forward to another place to go in the area. This won't be that place for me.

Nice staff, chicken wings were undercooked....twice, chicken in salad tasted microwaved. Pizzas were good.

The decor was great, staff was friendly and food average. The price on the menu/online did not match what we were charged for one item and no one ever came to clear the table despite us being one of only three tables that day. A few customers walked in around the time we were leaving and had to seat themselves.

Well, if you have a legitimate enhanced drivers license, they won't serve you because they have no idea which ID's are fake and which are real. Just go to Vernales!

What can we say but excellent! In this remote locale who would have thought that you could find a pizza as good as this? It was Friday night and the room was rocking, the live music was pumping, and the beer was flowing! While it was a little warm in the room due to window blinds not yet installed, the hot Western Sun in northern Michigan is certainly a welcome event. I would like to recommend the onion brick and the side sauce which were quite tasty. The waiting area was tastefully appointed and the bathrooms were clean and functional. Thank you so much for our inaugural visit in 2014. We have just started a new family tradition. Thank you Maple River! Special thanks to our server Courtney !
