Healthy Meal suggestions for Cracker Barrel

It was a great place to eat! The last time we visited a Cracker Barrel, we were actually disappointed, so . . . not sure what to expect here. We are so glad we came! Our server (with 4 stars and her name on her serving apron) was SOOO nice - patient as we decided what we'd like. She was wonderful at explaining things and answering our questions. And . . very willing to personal a couple items per my husband's request. The servings are a good size - too much for us to eat! Towards the end of the meal, we did ask our server what the stars meant on the apron, as I'd noticed that some servers had one star, some had two - etc. Our server (sorry - it was a couple months ago so can't remember her name) shared that you have to have worked there a certain length of time, get a certain level of reviews from supervisors and pass a test to get 4 stars; 4 is the most you can get. Our server was truly excellent - we could tell why she had 4 stars - pleasant and attentive throughout our meal. We enjoyed for menu selections, also. My husband chose breakfast, which is available all day! I chose a sandwich, which was excellent. You get to choose sides, also. With our last experience having not been good, we were truly delighted to have chosen this Cracker Barrel for dining while in this area of Michigan. If you enjoy shopping and fun and different things, there is a country store thru which you enter. There are decorator items, toys, clothes, games, souvenirs, etc.

At all Cracker Barrels I have ever been to, the servers have always been super friendly. As was the case today. The food is good, but it is not outstanding. It's home cooking and comforting. It's not a place for food snobs. It is fairly cheap,I had fried catfish and two sides for just under $10.00. The fish, mac and cheese, and salad were all okay. My mom enjoyed her meal. I am a fan of their corn muffins, but you can get buttermilk biscuits, or one of each. It's fun to peruse their gift shop. I use to love buying their cheap candy sticks when I was a kid, and my mom always bought their lemon drops for our long drive to our Florida vacations.

Took quite a while for our waitress to come take our order. She asked me specific questions about how I wanted my chicken so I knew she heard the correct thing. My mom ordered a ham dinner. We had a long wait for the food to come out. A different waitress brought out a tray and asked which one of us had the catfish. I told her that wasn't our table. She checked a couple other tables but couldn't find the right place. 30 seconds later our waitress came out with the same tray and tried to give me the catfish. I told her it was still the wrong thing from 30 seconds ago and one of my side items wasn't with it. My mom did get her ham dinner which was 2 tiny pieces, one with a bone. My mom is petite and doesn't eat much but this was a small serving even for her. Finally after my mom had finished her meal my chicken came out, still missing one of my sides. I took the food to go right away. Waitress never asked how my mom's food was, only refilled our drinks once despite the very long wait. Between wait times, serving problems, and laughable portions we will not be back.

Can't believe I am reviewing a Cracker Barrel, but you really cannot go wrong with Cracker Barrel when you're on the road especially this one. Love love love their greens and the old time candy sticks in the store. It was breakfast this time. I wanted the turnip greens but opted for the normal sides with breakfast - grits and biscuits and gravy an turkey sausage. Turkey sausage is super seasoned and spiced. Yum, but one patty goes a long way. Grits were awesome and no need for butter or anything. Next time I will do poached eggs, turkey sausage, grits, and turnip greens. Still, I couldn't stop stealing bites of my mate's pancakes. Super airy and light but crisp edges from the griddle and you get these mini warmed sealed bottles of maple syrup...yum! Folks working here are super friendly and funny! Loved our server and the cashier. They welcomed us, kept our coffee mugs full, offered a to go coffee, and got us back on the road in no time. What a great start to our road trip. Keep it up!

It was pretty slow at 430 on Thursday. Our server was new, but he did ok. Becky had the Campfire Beef that was a little dried out, and I had the Country Fried Chicken that was good. The manager was really nice, he sat and talked for a few minutes. Over all pretty good stuff.

Pretty decent. I hadn't been to a cracker barrel in over 10 years (and only one time before that). The food is pretty good quality although if you're a vegetarian like me it's tough to find something that looks good on this very meat-heavy menu. I'd go here again someday, but wouldn't rush back.

Nothing helps cure awkwardness like comfort food. So, when my diva queen daughter, my EX husband, and my current husband were out together for a gymnastics state meet in Midland, this was the only place I could think of to help cure the awkwardness that had become pretty much the whole day. Oh, and because I LOVE their food!! CB is, for me, is the closest thing i've eaten to the food my mom used to make. If I close my eyes and eat the pot roast and mashed potatoes, it's like i'm 10 again and my mom just took that baby right out of the oven!! Diva queen loves it too!! She is a junkie for the chicken and dumplings! And the biscuits, um, YES please !!! I love how they advertise that they give you real butter with the biscuits and/or cornbread.. I wouldn't have it any other way! I thought it was fantastic that we came in at 6 on a Sunday and there wasn't a line out the door. EX hubby ordered the chicken fried chicken, hubby and DQ ordered the chicken and dumplings, and I got the pot roast.. and green beans, and taters, and mac and cheese. They actually ask "biscuits, cornbread, or one of each?" to which EX hubby responded "yes please! " The sweet tea is great!! Love me some sweet tea!! What is even greater is they bring out your buttermilk biscuits and cornbread BEFORE the meal so you're busy stuffing your face and don't have to worry about filling airspace with more awkward chit chat... and they are soo good. Damn, I want one now!! Everyone cleaned their plates except EX hubby who said his chicken was dry and rubbery. The waitress took it away and offered to replace it immediately. He took some country ham instead and was quite happy by the end. For the 4 of us, dinner was only 42.00 plus tip, and that's for ALOT of food!! I'm not even gonna get into the country store side, which I also love... I could spend a day in the country store alone. Such cool stuff!! If you haven't been to Cracker Barrel, go check it out. Just yummy comfort and great prices. They'll even hold the awkward for you! /Comfort!!!! This place is

Very good place! I have really never left here feeling dissatisfied. The food is cheap, homemade, delicious, and the service has always been great. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. It's always a treat to look around the gift shop as well. We will definitely be back.

This is a classic great Cracker Barrel. I love that I can go into any of these stores across the US and get the same great meal that I always do. Biscuit & Gravy! This place had the great food, and the wonderful wait staff. There was one gal that went out of her way to help us and I wish I could remember her name. She noticed that we were sat in the way back and that after a few minutes no one had come to take our order. Even though our table wasn't in her "section" she helped us and took our order. Her friendly smile and great service is why I love Cracker Barrel!
