Been wanting to visit for a while and decided to an hour before closing time (3pm on a Thursday). I walked in and noticed it was quaint and well decorated. There's a cool wall full of crazy clocks and lots of funny references to bacon. I was greeted and seated quickly. There was one other patron inside and they referenced him by name. I looked over the menu and ordered the cream cheese stuffed french toast with apple compote, the homemade turkey bacon and raspberry lemonade. The food didn't take long to arrive and was hot and fresh. The french toast was huge! I literally ate half of one piece and asked for a box. The box came lined with foil. Very thoughtful. I killed that sausage though. It was juicy and flavorful. The lemonade wasn't very good, but the server took it off my bill without me even asking. Very nice service. Very tasty and plentiful food. And definitely more than just breakfast. Lots of special off-menu options on the board as well as a lunch menu opposite the breakfast menu. But this is also worth mentioning. I like to see a place throughout the day: when they open, during their rush, during a lull and right before closing time. I witnessed the server mopping the little ledge where your feet rest when sitting on the bar stools with steaming hot mop water. Wow! She didn't miss anything. Very clean. Very fresh. I will definitely be back. -- VISIT 2 They earned that 5th Star. Awesome menu, awesome "special menu" concoctions, and perfect service. This spot is a not-so-hidden gem of Berkley.

We stopped by for breakfast today based on other reviews. We were seated immediately which was great on a Sunday morning. My husband was a great fan of the Zingerman's coffee. He's picky about his coffee so that was a good start. He ordered the California omelet with rye toast. There was nothing left on the plate when he got through with it. He usually offers me a bite but he conveniently "forgot". I ordered the pancakes with cinnamon apples, a side of bacon & iced tea. The pancakes were pretty darn good. I am SUPER picky about pancakes and I left with a smile. The apples were darn fantastic. The bacon was a little underdone for me but it had a really good taste. I actually didn't mind eating it underdone. I believe we will be back. Next time I go for the chicken & waffles!

I was driving through Berkley when I realized that I had an hour to kill and quite an appetite. I pulled into CocoFairfield's and I almost left when I realize that they were closing in an hour, I usually don't like to come at the closing hour of establishment because I understand how irritating it can be for the employees but I stayed because a gentleman insisted that I had more than enough time to enjoy my meal. The atmosphere is quaint, cute, and honey. The staff is superior and the food is reasonably priced for such interesting and delicious item. I would most definitely recommend this place and I do plan on visiting again.

I love this place. We usually come every weekend for breakfast and are always happy with our meal and service. The staff are so nice and friendly, they really help make the place great. My husband is a big fan of the savory waffle (it's a waffle with peppers, spinach onions and cheese mixed into the waffle batter nad toped with an egg and hollandaise sauce). I almost always get Coco's Special omelette (bacon, spinach, bleu cheese and dried cherries). We've had lunch here a few times and it is good as well, I like the Coolidge Club and the chili. My kid loves the mac & cheese (homemade, not Kraft, which I hate spending $4-6 on kid's mac & cheese only to find out it's Kraft, which i could have bought for $1 and had four times as much, I digress).

Really a great little breakfast spot. Very gluten free friendly. Coffee is good and waitstaff is friendly. Couldnt ask for much more.

Mmmmm, mmmmm good! -Free parking on 12 Mile for 2 hours. -No wait. -Very clean. Everyone wears gloves in the kitchen and I feel like that doesn't happen very much. -Food was great! -Service was TOP NOTCH. Basically everything you want from a restaurant. A refreshing change from my usual brunch spots. Surprised no hipsters here.

I've only been here once but can't wait to go back. We went for lunch and I was happy to see they have vegan and vegetarian options. Service was great, menu was great, food was fantastic. Everyone in my party was happy with their meal.

Very good food and love the atmosphere - I had the stuffed French toast and would recommend stopping to enjoy the breakfast. It is a little pricey but worth it.

The quality and attention to detail that this place takes in their food is amazing. The multigrain bread is very good and my omelette was exceptional. I will make it a permanent stop whenever I am in Berkley.

I loved the multigrain pancakes with strawberry compote. The waiter was slow to take our order, but attentive afterwards.

Ok, I've only been a few times now and I am definitely a fan. They can make you an espresso and a savory waffle (oh my god, hollandaise sauce!) or a tofu scramble (that braggs vinegar is a nice touch). There were green tea ginger muffins and a more traditional offering to go. There's more on that menu, but I'll just have to go back and explore more. It's a cute place that had constant stream of folks for Sunday brunch. 5 or 6 booths, around 10 stools. Fun decorations, and a hint of manga quirkiness. A very delicious addition to the Berkley downtown

The GFDM family enjoyed a very nice gluten-free breakfast here yesterday. Our sever was nice and the owner took a moment to speak to us about our food selection and how gluten-free foods were prepared. Our meal was delivered in a timely manner and the children were able to color while waiting. Our food wasn't culinary genius but it was good and filled our bellies without making us sick. 3.5 Stars - I went in hear with high expectations in light of the reviews and I was not disappointed, but was not wowed. I get why people like this place and if I lived in Berkley, I would definitely be a regular, but it is not good enough for me to make a point of going back. I went on a Saturday and it was super busy, and with patrons of all ages. I tried the the Sunnyknoll Savory Waffle and my file got the Coco's Special Omelette. The food was solid and the atmosphere was cute and sort of retro hip. Overall, a good eating experience and it is certainly worth a visit if you are looking for new breakfast options in the Metro Area.

Great spot to eat. Had the chicken and waffles special. Waffles were good and chicken was breaded patty. Not my fav but was in the mood for it so it hit the spot. Coffee is the bomb! Friendly people and cozy spot to eat. I'll be back to try more traditional breakfast in the future. Just heard the cook say sold out chicken waffles!

Coco Fairfield's is a solidly good brunch place. For me, nothing over-the-top amazing, but definitely good. Their menu just doesn't have too many things I like on it. Not their problem (I'm pretty picky), but it's still enough for me to take off a star. My boyfriend LOVED his cornbread waffle though, and has requested that we go at lunch time next time so he can get it with chili and cheese (it was too early for all that last time we went). I do love their salads, but if I'm in the mood for breakfast I have a hard time finding something I want. I could piece together a few things from the a la carte menu, but that always ends up being like $15. I'll be back anyway though- love to support a business I can walk to!

To begin with, the food and coffee are excellent. The waitresses are also fantastic. Those things all deserve at least four stars. But there is just something about this place that can't get better than an OK from me yet. It's small and clean but there's something cold about it. The menu is heavy on fancy and light on everyday--which is fine, and i'm sure they'd make you whatever you like, it just sorta keeps it from being the cozy place it could be. I think my biggest complaint about the atmosphere is that there's a man who must be the owner constantly leaning on the front counter. Not working, not helping much, just looming. I've worked different types of jobs and never has it been pleasant to have a boss who just hangs out all the time pointing things out/giving little tasks. This might not make sense to a lot of you, but the rest get me here. It makes me, a customer, not want to take my time and enjoy my breakfast and book. It actually stresses me out a little. Go home, dude! Your waitresses are great, you're in their way.

I am only reviewing breakfast so please ignore my review if you are only interested in reading about lunch or dinner. So now that you have taken the time to review my non review of lunch and dinner you will be disappointed to hear I probably should not have written a review for breakfast either. I can find the same breakfast with the same service at three other restaurants in the area. I'm really not complaining, I just don't find this place to be anything special.

Love the Griffith sandwich, the grilled cheese with avocado!! It's SO good!! Comes with chips and a pickle spear. One of my favorite sanwiche spots and chose to work which is great. My co-workers and I frequent often!

This place is great. I have been here 4 times and I am impressed each time. I have had a salad, a sandwich, an omelet and the stuffed waffles. All were great and full of flavor. The decor is like a cute retro dinner with a bacon theme. The staff is attentive and friendly.

Love this place - great for kiddos too :) (they have free coloring pages and crayons) Love the coffee. Great food. It's on the smallish side - so go early or be prepared to wait.

Our new favorite breakfast joint! Lovely little place with all the standards, some interesting specials, great coffee and friendly faces. Just what we needed after somebody backed into our car and sped off this morning. Loved the stuffed french toast and looking forward to trying the pancakes. The bread is also fabulous and the coffee (Zingerman's) made my coffee-snob husband very happy. Great job guys!

This place is so great I don't where to start and, don't why I'm telling you but, I have to share. First of all the staff is great and, always accommodating. The food is always great and, they take such detail to great quality products and ingredients. Fresh and local. P.S. If your a Kiss fan don't forget to check out the men's restroom, a must see.

I have only been here for breakfast a few times not lunch or dinner and the food was ok. They do separate themselves with the gluten free options which is a nice edge to have but the food itself is ok. On this occasion I had the French toast which was pretty big and tasted good the first few bites then had a funny after taste and got mushy after a few minutes. But on the other hand the eggs, bacon and hash browns tasted fine. Oh and I tried the pancakes my kid had and same thing just eh. The staff was nice and my waitress was sweet. I didn't care for the cleanliness of the high chair my son was in. I had to wipe it down because it was very sticky. I get it kids are gross but they do need to hit them with a rag before giving them to customers.

This place is ok to grab a quick bite. Typical diner food, nothing special. I got their chicken and waffle--the waffles tasted a bit off.

A really solid, friendly, affordable local place for breakfast and lunch. With places like Nip 'n Tuck, Mae's and this nearby, there really aren't a lot of reasons to leave the area for breakfast. A few key features that make this place such a pleasure to have around: - The ownership and staff are really friendly. When you're dealing in breakfast items that don't vary a TON from place to place, customer service makes a huge difference. - Their waffles are some of the lightest, fluffiest and eggiest that I've ever had. Honestly, the pictures don't do justice to them. They have a "secret batter recipe" that they make fresh every single morning, and it makes all the difference. - They almost always have a few interesting specials, which generally go quite a bit beyond simply offering one or two slightly different omelette varieties (the apparent norm for a lot of places' "specials"). - They know how to make an omelette that's creamy and moist, rather than browned to oblivion and dry as dust. - They have very good coffee -- a feature that some breakfast joints lack, which is mindblowing to me. - The prices are very reasonable. If you live in the area and haven't been here yet, you're missing out.

The first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem. Hello, I am Heather, and I bloody well love breakfast, but I'm not willing to wait 50 minutes for a table. Detroiters know good breakfast, and they are spoiled with a variety of outstanding joints that practically everyone from here to Lansing converges on every Saturday or Sunday morning. I know their menus as distant memories more than by regular visits. Forget moseying in at 10 AM on a Tuesday, I'm in a regular meeting at work. I simply cannot do long waits for an omelet anymore. Coco Fairfields is popular, a mark in its favour and against it. I've learned to visit here is a game of roulette where the main prize is an exquisite savory waffle drizzled in a hollandaise sauce that skirts heavy and lands right on filling, mixed with roasted red peppers, onions, spinach, and pure happiness. It's well worth the attempt to secure parking in the hideously pockmarked back lot off Twelve Mile while sending the beau inside to secure a table and hope against hope they've got a free seat for my small minion. How can I not love a place with an obsession for wall clocks and homemade delectables? This is no greasy spoon, don't think that for a second. The owners were putting up a new set of Black Forest cuckoo clocks on my most recent visit, and they were dishing out savory waffles with toasty potatoes like they were going out of style. The menu is a really delightful blend of omelets, hearty sandwiches, and savory and sweet divisions for your typical breakfast fare. The stuffed French toast is a ridiculously sweet treat bombarded with succulent berries everyone who wishes they were five wants to steal. My beau slaked his sweet tooth on it. The baby was not so impressed with his admittedly very filling and tasty silver dollar pancakes as with trying to snarf down forkfuls of daddy's stuffed French toast. That a 17-month-old fights with a full grown man for breakfast stands on its own. Service is attentive and pleasant, with special attention paid to those little things: colouring pages and fat crayons for little hands, extra napkins, and refills on the go. We lucked out getting in earlier than normal.

One of the Very Best and Maybe Little Known Local Breakfast Spots I Could Imagine This place is off the hook. We dropped by for a late breakfast on my cousin's recommendation. I was totally blown away by how great the food was/is. Starting with the Zingerman's coffee and a friendly smile from our server, we ordered the French toast for her, and I had the Sunnyknoll savory waffle with roasted red peppers and spinach inside a very light and airy Belgium waffle. Topped with a chive hollandaise, a poached egg and a side of bacon, at my request, and I couldn't have been happier!! The waffle was fantastic...that said I was torn between the fried chicken slider special, the chicken and waffle special or their Robina pastrami sandwich. Any way I ventured I'm sure it would've been a solid choice but I haven't seen a savory waffle before. The payoff is worth the curiosity! Prices are fair for the quality of food, the staff was super friendly and I even introduced myself to the owner, who was also amazingly friendly and proud of his joint, which he should be. It's likely not a really well known spot yet but I suspect it'll be mobbed once the word gets out. We were sat pretty easily at noon on a Saturday and there was plenty of counter options open. This is one of Berkley's finest!

The value of Coco Fairfields lies more in the service, decor (lots of quotes about bacon on the walls), and location than in the food. The food tastes great and the ingredients they use are fresh and natural, but the food is on par with a lot of other restaurants around Metro-Detroit, like Original Pancake House in Birmingham and Frittata in Clawson. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. We walked in around 9:00 AM and got greeted and seated. She took our drink orders, I ordered an orange juice and my wife ordered a coffee. They have Zingerman's Coffee and it was one of the best cups of joe that my wife has ever had. The orange juice was pretty good. The restaurant serves lunch and breakfast and it is located right on 12 Mile in Downtown Berkley, which is a great thing to see-a delicious breakfast spot that is part of the community. I orderd the Sunnyknoll Waffle, which was topped with an egg cooked to order (mine was over easy) and some hollendaise sauce. The waffle itself had spinach and red peppers in the batter. I also ordered a side of sausage links. The waffle was cooked perfectly and so was the egg and there was plenty of flavor. However, it was missing a savory or sweet element, so I think an omelette is the way to go at this place. My wife ordered the vegetarian omellette and she loved it. The only downside is the food is expensive. Our meal was $30 with tip.

Had to update my review. The first time I ate here it was great! I just me a friend there last week for breakfast and it was absolutely terrible. I ordered pastrami hash, it was terribly dry and just gross. Service was terrible. I'll never go back (and I live right down the street.

I love this diner. I love the small town diner experience. Awesome service and menu choices...really great bacon!! I had the mac and cheese which was on point and my friend had a breakfast burrito which he said tasted amazing. I am definitely a fan of this hidden local jewel.

We came here after having to go to the pet store and thought we would explore other breakfast joints. Sad to say that the only reason for the 2 stars is the coffee they have is amazing. The food was just ok, I had a red velvet scramble which was corned beef and potatoes. Portion was small, and the meat and potatoes were both very dry. My husband got an underwhelming omelet however his hash browns were cooked well. Will not be going back 25$ for breakfast that was not very good.

atmosphere is good. fresh, modern yet comfortable. food is good. unique approach to typical breakfast fair. stuffed french toast was like dessert for breakfast. everything is made in house. parking is easy and only had to wait for a minute late on sunday morning. forget heading to ferndale for breakfast, we're coming here now.

We decided to stop here for some breakfast and saw that they served Zingerman's coffee - bonus! The food was tasty very tasty and the prices weren't bad. We tried the gluten-free bread and it tasted good. I wish the menu would have stated there was a $1 upcharge for the gluten-free bread. The coffee was excellent, as was the service. I am sure we will check this place out again!

Food was for sure good overt priced but good. The staff sucked though. I went to have breakfast by myself one morning walked in and was greeted by a brash woman at the front counter telling me to sit anywhere she promptly came over with water and a place setting then I sat there for another 20 minutes before a waitress had come over. The waitress thought I was waiting for someone so didn't bother until she was told I was by myself. I ordered tea and placed my order California omelet. It was good but it said it had avocado. It was the 3 tiniest pieces of avocado you would have ever seen. Then the waitress never came over to check on and was sent home before I was even done with my meal. Moral of the story, don't go there by yourself!

COCO FAIRFIELDS!!!!!! Where have you been all my life? This was our first visit & we are talking about going back tomorrow!!! The place is AWESOME!!! Cleaner than clean! Their silverware has to be the cleanest in Oakland County. We had a custom omelette (mushroom, bacon & brie) DELICIOUS & HUGE!!!! Hash browns are shredded potatoes cooked to perfection! Toast was even incredible!!! My husband had a Mexican omelette special. Again, AMAZING!!!! And a side of gluten free silver dollar pancakes, that were just lovely!!! Service was tops from Jennifer & the owner Marty came over to check on us as well!!! Did I mention their GIANT MUGS of Zingermans coffee??? HIT THE SPOT!!!! So ecstatic to have discovered this hidden gem!!! THANK YOU COCO FAIRFIELDS!!!! See you tomorrow for waffles!!!!

The food/ menu options is a definite 5, the atmosphere is a 3, but you'll warm up to it the more you go. For breakfast, make sure you "schlep" your omelette. ( it means having the omelette and potatoes wrapped in a tortilla thus creating an omelette burrito ) Coco's is the best. (Omelette with bacon, spinach, blue cheese and cherries) Very eclectic menu. Everything's good.

I love this place, and have since they opened. It is a small breakfast and lunch place that serves good food. The staff is friendly, the coffee always fresh and the food is a little different (in a very good way) than you find elsewhere.

Shall I begin w/ the positives. Yep. The service, good. Cleanliness, on point. The vegetarian chilli, was bomb (tasty, great, flavorful). Now the not so positives. I ordered an omelet, it was more fluff and egg than actual filling (spinach, meat, cheese, onions). And I had to ask for additional onions, literally I saw two pieces of diced onions prior to asking for more. On another disheartening note, the omelet filling (spinach, meat, etc) wasn't mixed into the omelet batter rather the batter was prepared and the filling was layed on top and the omelet was was folded over. Basically an egg taco. Not a fan of that. But the egg mixture was tasty. Would I go back for breakfast? No. Will I give them another go round for lunch? Yes.

Coco's is, hands down, my new favorite lunch spot. The food is fresh, it is absolutely spotless inside, prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly. I almost always get the Robina when I come here (the menu items are named after streets in Berkley) - a pastrami sandwich on fresh marble rye with swiss and apple slaw. I don't know what it is exactly, but I dream about this sandwich. I have also tried the chicken lemon soup, Griffin Grilled Cheese, tomato soup & Henley Hummus Bowl - I like to get the "pick 2" option so that I can taste a few different things. Everything I have tried has been delicious and fresh. I have not tried the breakfast, but my husband has had a few different items and loves it!

New spot. I went for breakfast...it was empty ( I was early though ) The decor was like a "diner" - the food was typical breakfast food and it was enjoyable. The coffee was good - from Zingerman's! Worth a shot!

I always felt like I had to go to downtown Royal Oak or even Ferndale if I wanted good breakfast dining, due to Berkley's less than impressive offerings, but as of just a few weeks ago that had changed. The food is quality, the staff is professional and friendly and the location is perfect for when you don't want to spend more time looking for parking than actually eating. This charming little diner gem is off to a great start. Be sure to go on Sunday for specialty dish you won't see during the week, the mouth watering Crab Cake Benny, it's fresh, tasty, and perfect in every way. I love that they went local with their coffee, looking forward to trying some different brews as the current one is the only reason they didn't get 5 stars. The quality of the coffee was fine, but a bit week for me. But I'm told they actually toned it down at the request of other customers. ( clearly customers that hate me ...j/k) But I get to taste the coffee next time the way it was originally intended and may have me running back to give them their fifth star. I hope that CoCo Fairfield is around for many many years and draws the consistent, quality clientele they deserve.

California omelette with hash browns... oh, yeah! The eggs were moist, the flavor of the bacon was exceptional and the hash browns were fried in an oil that was light, so the you could really enjoy the potatoes. Coco Fairfields is a great spot to hit the spot!

  • Alexandra M.

I come here like 4 days a week at least. I love the staff, they're so courteous and even have a sense of humor. Henley hummus wrap and veggie chili till I die! You feel like your at home at Cocos and I wouldn't have it any other way! Keep on keeping on!

I had the egg white vegetarian omelette. Usually, I have to pour salsa on top but here it wasn't necessary. The vegetables were fresh and perfectly cooked. I substituted fresh fruit for hash browns and the fruit was a mix of fresh pineapple , blueberries and strawberries. Very fresh and delicious . They have a selection of jams. I tasted the fig and cherry. Both very good. Zingermans coffee another plus. I'm always counting calories and often feel deprived. Not here, a very enjoyable breakfast . Great service too.

I always choose local first. And I've been wanting to try Coco Farfield's since they opened, but the first time I tried to eat there, shortly after they opened, I walked out hungry. I had asked for the macaroni and cheese - supposedly a signature dish - and was told that they couldn't serve it to me because it had 'been sitting all day'. I then tried to order a sandwich(which one escapes me at the moment) off the menu and they were out of bacon, I believe. Finally, I told them I would return when they were better prepared. I returned this morning and ordered the pastrami hash for $8.00 and what I got was undercooked, rehydrated hashbrowns with a scattering dried out processed lunch meat. I never did find a pepper and might have seen an onion - I'm not sure. When I told the waitress 'this isn't hash. Hash is cubed potatoes, with cubed meat and vegetables' she immediately got defensive with me - although she did offer to make me another dish. At first, I thought I'd just suck it up (I was hungry!), but after I took the first bite, and realized the 'hash' was absolutely tasteless and unseasoned and the pastrami wasn't exactly Sy Ginsberg, I decided that I wasn't going to pay for a diner dish at premium prices. The waitress then informed me that I was the only one who'd ever complained about the hash. Well, apparently, she doesn't read the reviews, because Dana K. of Berkley, MI says "My husband had the pastrami hash. The pastrami was grisly and not good and his hash browns were straight out of a bag and undercooked. " and Dale M., of Royal Oak, MI says "The hash was good but not exceptional." The owner (?) cook became agitated when I took a picture of the 'hash', and when I checked out and was asked how everything was, I told them I wouldn't back. I told them they sold me a $4 breakfast for $8 that I could get at Berkley Coney, and the waitress said that it would be frozen hash browns. Well, yes, and that's because frozen hash browns are better than the tasteless rehydrated in a carton hashbrowns they are trying to pass off as fresh. Further, I didn't order hashbrowns with low-quality pastrami shavings - I ordered hash. Then the owner (perhaps the 'grumpy guy' other reviewers have mentioned?) came thumping from behind the grille with hands waiving - "just get out of here! We were nice to you! GO!" When I said, "you are not selling hash" he yelled at me in front of the other customers - "I DON'T CARE!" And then I decided that I had to post the review, because sometimes a diner just doesn't 'order right' and sometimes a diner is treated with incredulity ("you're the only one whose ever complained") and surliness. If the food is at least worth the price, and prepared properly, I'll eat a 'didn't order right' without complaint and tip generously. But to be rudely told, "that's how we make hash" when I'm being sold substandard food at quality prices - that's when I decided that the public should know what kind of hit or miss experience they are risking at Coco Fairfield's. My guest ordered the Southwest Omelet (the chicken was dry, she said, and it was 'okay', the turkey sausage (she didn't finish it) and we were upcharged $1.00 for gluten free toast (not disclosed on the menu or by the waitress). The coffee that everyone is raving about was nothing special - do they water it down? Go down the street to Biggby's if you want a good cup of coffee. I had also ordered a bowl of their soup to go, and that was never brought to me and the only time the waitress offered to warm my coffee is when she brought the bill, in which the hash was taken off. Would I pay $8 for a good hash? Gladly. It is a guilty pleasure that I don't make part of my regular diet. Would I ever go back to Coco Farfield's thinking I was getting an upscale, carefully prepared and creative breakfast? Absolutely not. For that, I will go to the Breakfast Club in Madison Heights, where the prices are similar, but the food is artfully prepared, insanely delicious and they give you enough to take home. My bill was $18.02 for essentially one breakfast and two cups of coffee. Defensive waitresses and rude, disruptive cooks who have no imagination or creativity when it comes to a breakfast staple. Will I be back? Absolutely not. Berkley Coney serves the same breakfast for half the price and they have a much more pleasant disposition. And to the owner who is watching her reviews, here is the Wikipedia definition of hash (but any owner / chef / HASH-slinging greasy spoon cook KNOWS this): Hash is a dish consisting of diced meat, potatoes, and spices that are mixed together and then cooked either alone or with other ingredients such as onions.[1] The name is derived from the French verb hacher (to chop).[2] You are not serving hash. You either need to change the dish or take off the menu. It only takes one poorly planned dish to ruin the customer experience and Coco Farfield's pastrami hash the dish to avoid.

Well, I really really wanted to like this place a lot. I went for lunch and have not yet tried their breakfast. I will be back to try breakfast and if it's good, I'll definitely up date this review. However, I will mention, I tried to stop in for breakfast this Monday and it was closed. Really? A brand new place in Berkley and you're closed on Mondays? I've lived in Berkley for years and seen many a restaurant open and close real quickly. If you're only open for breakfast and lunch you might want to stay open everyday of the week to gather up some business. I am a vegetarian (but not a vegan), so I was excited when I heard the buzz around town that this place has vegetarian options. Two vegetarian friends of mine had dined here and did not recommend it. They specifically told me to stay away from the tofu scramble and the tofu sloppy joe. Neither of those dishes really appeal to me anyway, so that wasn't hard. I went with my husband, who is not a vegetarian. I ordered the veggie chilli and the quinoa salad. There really weren't as many options as I'd like. The salad was pretty pricey and you did not get much food at all or presentation. It was on a few pieces of iceberg lettuce. The salad was really only ok at the very best. I wished I had just made something similar and ate it at home. It came with a pita (I don't think it was homemade, but it was good) and thankfully it did or I would have left very very hungry. The chilli also was only okay, and I've had some great veggie chilis in my time. It doesn't hold a candle to Sweet Lorraine's veggie chili (right around the corner). It was sweet and not much in there but tomato and some beans. I ate it and it was okay. But it would never bring me back. My husband got a club sandwich. He said it was "Ok, nothing special." Like I said, I live in Berkley and would absolutely love to really really like this place a lot. We will give it a try for breakfast and see if it's any better. I eat eggs so I'm looking to try an omelet and see how it is.

Great place for breakfast or lunch! Owner is very friendly. Service was fantastic. Ordered the stuffed French toast and the pastrami sandwich. Very hearty and delicious food that isn't too heavy. Not a light meal but you don't leave feeling full and gross. Great flavors and owner who also cooks told me everything is made fresh...there's no freezer in the kitchen. The cinnamon apples with the stuffed French toast were amazing! Can't miss here if you are looking for a great meal!

Have only had breakfast and lunch here but have enjoyed those meals very much. Great atmosphere and good healthy options in addition to the more decadent fare.

11/10. Just like Spinal Tap, this place goes to 11. Small menu, but boy are they good at what they do. Pay attention to their list of specials and try to get something off that too. Bonus: espresso drinks for a lot less than Starbucks, and they use Zingermans beans. If you're gonna go local, go here.

I was thrilled to learn they serve Zingerman's coffee!!! I've walked over to grab a cup a couple of times week, but today was my first dine-in experience and the first time I've ordered food. It was an excellent experience! Albeit, we came at the perfect time, just as the Sunday morning rush was beginning, and didn't have to wait. Our waitress was knowledgeable and extremely sweet. Very efficient, given that she was slammed with several tables all at once. The kitchen seemed to have a tad more trouble keeping up, but there wasn't any real delay. The omelettes we ordered were cooked perfectly. The hash browns were perfect, too. My companion was happy about the gluten-free toast option, and I was thrilled with the delicious cinnamon toast! SO good with the coffee! Like a buttered donut with icing! By the time we were finished there were several small groups waiting to be seated, but the staff never made us feel rushed. Everyone is always so friendly when I come in, and good customer service means a lot to me. I think this is the kind of place that if you did have a problem, they would want to hear about it and would work to remedy it. Still a few minor downsides (it's tiny, the music was easy listening), but this is a great addition to Berkley's downtown, and I really hope it sticks! So glad I don't have to head to Ferndale or Royal Oak to get a decent breakfast on the weekend. I also appreciate that they don't have a deep fryer in the kitchen, getting on with my day without having to re-shower from the grease smell that often accompanies a breakfast/brunch out is worth noting!

The food is fantastic here! Everything tastes so fresh! The Coolidge club sandwich is fantastic, I get it on multigrain bread. The Henley Hummus is also so yummy! Great iced tea! I frequently visit for lunch!

This place gets five stars. Delicious health conscious menu, free parking and a lot of small touches that make a difference. For example, zingerman's coffee, good multi grain toast (no wonder bread here!) and recyclable to-go boxes lined with foil for easy reheating. We sat at the bar and I was able to see back into the kitchen where everyone was wearing latex gloves and hats! The whole place was very very clean. Will go here again!

I ordered the savory waffle to go. Was good but I think would of tasted better eating it there. Next time will eat there. The coffee is very good and the lady that took my order(sorry I forgot your name) was very nice. I will be back to try different menu items.

Found this great little place for breakfast! They have a small menu, but it covers all the basics. They have a couple of fancy items but overall, you can come here for a good homemade from scratch breakfast. They also have Zingerman's coffee :)

This is an outstanding local breakfast and lunch joint. Staff is friendly, place is clean, prices are great. This is hands down a better selection than your local "coney". Give it a try you won't be disappointed!

A first timer - arrived there with friends at 1pm on Sunday. No wait - was seated promptly The staff is nice and friendly 5 or 6 booths, around 10 stools they served Zingerman's coffee good but had been on the burner a bit too long. One person ordered the Pastrami Hash - liked it - the other ordered an omelet also liked it. With the breakfast foods you could get jam with your bread choice, not that plastic container with the foil top - but real quality jam in an individual ceramic container - I do not know where they get it from but it was very good - I ordered the 1/2 sandwich and soup - the waitress suggested the club sandwich - It was good - a bit bland but I enjoyed it. The Chicken chili soup was very good - - We were the last to leave and they did not rush us. Try it out - you will be glad you did.

It is great to have a new restaurant in Berkley that serves breakfast and lunch. The décor is much like a diner and is very clean and welcoming. The wait staff was warm and smiling. We got our waters right away and I ordered a coffee. It was a bit strong for my tastes, but I bet it has a real following because it's Zingerman's coffee! Not being able to make a fast decision, my son and I were happy to see the "You pick two" for $9 you could choose a 1/2 sammie and a salad, or two different sammies or 1/2 salad and cup of soup! Great for us hard-to-choose people. My son had the Royal with swiss, pastrami, sauerkraut and also the Coolidge Club with turkey, bacon tomato, avocado on sourdough. He liked both, but ended up liking the Coolidge club a little more. I had the Coolidge Club as well and 1/2 the Gardener Big Veggie Salad. Yum! The salad was a good, healthy and fresh half portion. I liked the Coolidge club as well-the bacon was thick and crisp and the turkey fresh and plentiful. Contrary to other reviews, we thought the pricing was spot on compared with other similar diner type menus for most of the menu items, although we stayed away from the 2 burgers that we thought were a bit pricey @ $11 and $12. Everyone was so nice and efficient and the food was yummy and fresh so Coco Fairfield's is added to our list of local yummy breakfast spots to go!!

I'm all for supporting local restaurants. I would have loved to give them a 4 star, but just couldn't because of the value for the $. For service I would go 2.5 - counter service shouldn't take quite so lone, however they were full - staff probably needs a little more practice with filled up. For food, I would go 4 - good flavor, ingredient quality was good. All were great, even the sour dough toast was well above average! The hash was good but not exceptional. My companion had the pancakes she said they were really good, even worth 5 stars. For Value, I would go 2 - about 12-13 oz. of pastrami hash (potatoes, onions and perhaps 3 oz of pastrami), 2 eggs, toast and 4 sausage links= $11, coffee (with refills) $2. The three pancakes were $7 and included real maple syrup. I've been doing food costing for a long time and I judge good value at 25-30% food cost. I think the items I had were more in the 20% range. Not a great value. Even with real maple syrup, $7 for three pancakes is well under 20%. I wish them well, but they seem a bit top heavy staff-wise and a little inexperienced. I will go back again, but they need to do a bit more work with portions and costing. Next time I'll go for lunch and see whats up.

I live in the neighborhood, and thanks to my wife, I have become a big fan of the place. Great food, with names pulled from the surrounding neighborhood. Service is great, always feel like they are really glad to see you. Family atmosphere.

I have been to Coco Fairfields for breakfast several times. The food has been great each time, eggs cooked perfectly, everything hot. I have not tried any of the delicious sounding French Toasts or Waffles, but I am Gluten Free. I love that they have Gluten Free options for both Pancakes and Toast. Their meats are nitrate free which is all I will eat/serve at my own house. The service is great. I have special dietary needs and restrictions, the waitress was very patient with my order and all my questions. They were even willing to cook my food with coconut oil that I brought in from home, because I didn't want the soybean oil and can't have the dairy in regular butter. The housemade Jelly is amazing too.

Great new addition to Berkley. Fresh, homemade food for the health conscious. Friendly and fast service. Excellent portions and prices. Go on a Sunday and try the eggs Benedict on crab cakes. We didn't have a wait on our visit. Parking is easy. For a tasty breakfast, you no longer have to go to Royal Oak or Ferndale.

Great place, amazing food. Much needed in metro area! Nothing from a can, everything home made. Staff is awesome. This is a great place to just grab a stool at the dinner counter and have a coffee, or have a seat in a booth and enjoy a burger. The grilled cheese is amazing!!! Nitrate free corned beef on the Rubina is out of this world! No fryers, no microwaves, no cans, only AWESOME!!!

I have been waiting months for this place to open and let me say that it was worth the wait! Everything they serve is made fresh that morning and tastes amazing! They have a ton of vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options as well as many unhealthy yet delicious items, there really is something for everyone! My husband and I have been back twice and everything we've tried was wonderful. My personal favorite being the Oakshire chicken salad, the nut-free pesto on this is great! My husband is quite partial to the Henley hummus bowl, I didn't get a chance to try it but it looks wonderful! I'm sure we will be loyal regulars of this place and I recommend everyone come try it!

After a haircut at the Berkley Chop Shop I was on the hunt for a late breakfast. Imagine my surprise when I saw Coco Fairfields and their neon coffee sign beckoning me to enter. I was pleasantly surprised! The food was excellent - think standard faire diner/cafe but with a few twists - example? I had a blue cheese, bacon, spinach and dried cherry omelette served with a cup of Zingerman's coffee. Absolutely delicious and I plan on coming back soon!

Went back. Somewhat improved service. I still can't get with the lack of warmth in the place. So weird. Not going to stay away but it will never be my first choice in Berkley. Disappointing.

Went for lunch with my husband. We both had the quinoa/lentil salad with chicken. It was delicious and very healthy. It also came with a side of warm naan bread which was equally as fresh and delicious. The only reason I didn't mark 5 stars is because it was a tad pricey. $13 each for the salads. I would definitely go back here for lunch.

Love this place! Not much in the way of ambiance, but the food is awesome. Good, quality and home made. Lots of gluten-free and veggie choices, too. They also have excellent coffee (Zingerman's). Service is great and friendly. They are happy to customize your order--just ask. The place is kind of new and is still getting off the ground. I hope more people discover it so it will stick around.

Don't drive by this great, unique diner in Berkley. It is the best breakfast I have had in Michigan since I arrived. I ran through my usual checklist quickly: 1) Good coffee--hell it's great coffee, 2) Good service 3) A great point of view on breakfast with some unique choices such as the Savory Waffle and 4) a place that treats eggs right. Nice height on the omelette I had for Father's Day a Southwestern off the Specials board. I was also very pleased to get some nice sourdough toast that is not the usual weak tasting plain bread I have been served all too frequently. $8 for my Southwestern Omelette was truly fair and the atmosphere was great. Try the window stools and watch the sidewalk crowd and cool cars. Plenty of space to spread out, too.
